International author Ethan Jones has brought us a brand new book. We now have introduced to us the Assassin Tom Maverick. Maverick we find is a tough guy, former RCMP and their special Ops. Now having left Government work he becomes an assassin and he’ll kill anyone, for any reason, no questions asked.
After being falsely accused of executing an innocent family, Tom is on the run. And now no questions mean no answers as to why he’s been framed.
When he scarcely escapes a car bombing in South America, which kills his friend, Tom realizes his enemies have found him. What’s worse, the hitmen have also found his son… a continent away. He now has a decision to make involving going back into his old assassin work or not?
He soon teams up for better or worse with yet another former assassin partner.
Ready to fight, he discovers a world wide conspiracy and one which he must now solve. .The issue is can Tom determine who’s actually hunting him, foil their plan, and keep his son out of the firestorm? Life has a habit of teaching you all kinds of lessons, some of which are rather nasty.
Like Tom Maverick experienced when his wife divorced him, abandoning his son in his care. Just as well there is a Nana to now take care of him as Tom continues his work?
Work? Well, Tom is an assassin. With some scruples attached. But not asking too many questions also come with a lesson or two.
Such as getting saddled with an unwanted partner. And then getting falsely blamed for a family murder.
And warned off from every again being an assassin.
But when he narrowly escapes being blown up and his son's life getting to be a possible target, he has to start asking questions. Lots of them. Urgently.

Great beginning of a new series!
Ethan Jones has done it again, with this great premise. It looked like a typical assassin plot at first, but went in a completely different direction pretty quickly, and turned into a surprisingly powerful story about the value of freedom and the meaning of pain and suffering. Ethan Jones also has a gift for writing characters, and the writing really draws you into their lives.
Is revenge that sweet? Perhaps in that exact moment of execution, when you feel exalted, angry, furious, you even find a distinctive and evil pleasure.What about the aftermath? That hollow feeling it leaves in your soul, after having executed your revenge. Now what? The pain, the loss, will never go away, it will only recede to the back of your mind, to that far corner of your soul, like the receding waters of an ocean’s tide, to never rise up again. And so we are left to try to live with it.
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
And triumph of good is the best feeling ever. A tense, emotive, fast paced, character driven, credible and realistic story. Heart pounding and nerve-wracking, I read it in one sit, so engrossed I was with the immersive storyline, out of breath with all the travelling around the world after the villains, and chased by them.
I’m counting the days, waiting to read the next in the series of Maverick, Unleashed #2!

I admit that this wasn't my favorite Ethan Jones book. It seemed repetitive yet questioning who the characters are. Perhaps shallow is the right word.

Partners in a vengeance-themed assassination thriller ask who is calling the shots - 4.5 stars
Tom Maverick and Shivetta Gabler work as competent but stubborn individuals who just happen to be partners in an assassination plot. Both are comfortable as individuals and prefer to work alone. Tom is old school -- research by reading and using contacts before planning the mission while Shivetta is computer savvy doing extensive hacking before heading out with a reasonable plan. Both Tom and Shivetta want to avoid killing innocent people.
One highly placed person, Renee Pawlish, has been the person ("handler") who directed both Tom and Shivetta's past assignments and has left a bad taste having provided misleading information. Ms. Pawlish has an unclear role in the current assignment dealing with a Russian Oligarch, a Ukrainian trader, a wealthy UAE Emirate, and a Chinese businessman. Everyone involved works with well-connected individuals who spend freely to arrange for trades and highly lucrative commerce.
While Tom and Shivetta might try to have a relationship, but in the fast-paced work of guns for hire, there is no time for dalliances. Everything happens quickly with passage between Switzerland, Equator, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Thailand, Panama, and Canada, there is no time to smell the roses; the reader is provided with quick glimpses before the location changes. Arranging for local weapons and support is first and foremost followed by blazing weapons and a quick escape.
Assassination targets are found and eliminated; gun battles often break out utilizing heavy-duty ammunition. Somehow neither Tom nor Shivetta are severely injured. A glamorous birthday party in a posh UAE hotel has most of the action taking park off the ballroom floor where unsuspecting high rollers are not involved in cloak and dagger actions.
Mostly the goal is to find information before making a "hit". Frequently the secondary escape is the only one left. There are quirky episodes like spilling coffee on the electronics of a security checkpoint and using an ambulance to kidnap a well-protected asset. The action flows quickly. If you enjoy fast action and adventure, this tale is for you.

Tom Maverick was on a mission in Switzerland to take out a target. Tom likes to work alone but he was forced to work with Andrew Tinti and Andrew was not going to abort the mission when they realized the target’s little son and wife were present. Tom was not about to kill innocents but ‘Andy’ had no qualms about it and killed the entire family. Then the police shot Andy. Tom escaped but Pawlish, the facilitator of the assassination, blamed Tom and ordered him to be quiet about it. Tom has a young son whose mother abandoned them. Tom has place his son Aiden in the custody of Aiden’s maternal Grandmother to protect him. Tom moved on to Ecuador. His cover was as a surgeon having gone to med school. He removed many bullets from gang related fighting. Tom’s acquaintance Hudson showed up and Hudson was blown up in his vehicle but Tom escaped. Tom sought the help of Bruce Takao with Tigersharks Security.who then hires him for a new target. When Tom shows up at Bruce’s company he finds out he is to work with Shivetta. They had a previous working and personal relationship. Their target is a Ukrainian named Olyinyk. There is much more in this story and the pace is fast and relentless in holding your attention…and you will be holding your breath too. Do not miss this new release by Ethan Jones. It is worth your money and your time.

This story starts out with Tom and he's been assigned with a buddy to accomplish the mission. Things go badly and he can't understand why his partner would shoot so many and now he runs for his life. He escapes and heads to another location to lay low. He has another mission and is paired with a woman that he's worked with before and not too happy about that situation because they both are one person missions.
He does his part and she does hers but things don't go so right. He is being threatened personally now. A buddy from long ago tracks him down in South America and he can't understand how he was found so easily. There is a joke about the bomb sticking out from under the drivers seat and they go for dinner and car doesn't blow up. When the friend leaves the car blows up. He has to do what he can, at all costs to save his son from the bad guys.
There is a lot of high fast paced action packed political at times, drama during the mission. Things are very descriptive and the details are so crucial to the outcome of the missions. Love all the travel and destinations.

Well, this is a nail-biting adventure, and no mistake. Every step was fraught with danger that led to questions that led from one lie to the next. Tom is a man who likes everything laid out for him so he knows what actions to take. He is an honorable man if that is possible in his field as an assassin. His targets have to be evil he won't kill innocent people. He has been partnered with a man with no such scruples and thus starts this current adventure. From this point on everything goes wrong and Tom has to try and find out what where and why. He does not want another partner but he gets one, a beautiful female one. She is brilliant but reckless whereas he is extra cautious. Chalk and cheese? not sure yet, have to wait and see. The ending was a beginning, everything unresolved in my mind. Probably more questions than answers because nobody was telling the truth. That is so irritating! Great stuff great ending.

Tom was provided with a number by his friens and Tom eventually called to learn what Tom's friend wanted. It turns out that this person wants to bring Tom onboard for a mission. Once Tom arrives to found out the details, he discovers that he was to be teamed with a former partner that they had a disagreement with.
To discover what job Tom and this other person would hired to do and how it played into his past, then you need to read this book.

Assassin Tom Maverick is in a world of hurt. It started when he was accused of killing an innocent family on a previous mission. Maverick knows he's being framed so now he's on the run from a variety of enemies whom he has yet to identify. Then he finds out that one of those enemies has discovered the existence of his son who is far enough away that he is unable to help protect him.
This gangbuster of a book will keep you on the edge of your seat as Maverick desperately tries to stay alive in a lingering Firestorm long enough to protect his son.

Tom goes into a forced exile until a former associate makes contact that brings him back into the game against his will. But there are too many questions that need answers and his partner in this quest, Shivetta, wants the answers just as badly. Even though answers are found there are even more questions discovered.

Ethan Jones does it again with this new series
I don’t know how Ethan comes up with these incredible story lines time after time. This new series with Assassin Tom Maverick, who discovers a worldwide conspiracy, is a clear winner. It is hard hitting with its fast pace, interweaving plots and surprising outcome.
Tom is almost a reluctant assassin with a penchant for destroying evil and this action packed thriller of Ethan’s is one of his best works
I stayed up late into the night unable to put the book down and would recommend it to any avid reader

Tom Maverick is retired RCMP. He is now a paid assassin. When a job goes bad and his partner is dead, he disappears. When is tracked down by another assassin and offered a job to come back is when his troubles begin again. While trying to keep his son safe back in Canada he is the road again with a woman assassin he has worked with before. An outstanding cast of characters, action/murder/intrigue/turns/twists and a non stop storyline this is a must read for all you action junkies out there !

An Edge of your Seat Thriller
I loved this book. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. Tom Maverick is hired as an assassin. He only kills people presenting a danger or is that true? He is set up on one of his kills and he is ready and seeking who set him up. But he has to be careful because his family is threatened. Buy this book and start reading. You won't stop until the very end.

This is book 1 in a new series. Tom Maverick is a retired assassin keeping a low profile from his old Dispatcher. An old colleague was able to find him so perhaps others can too. From there, Tom gets sucked back into his old life and goes on a wild ride. What a wild ride! I can't wait to see what comes next for Tom.

Full of action.
The book is all about action, good characters and a wild story line. There is very little description about any planning, the story just jumps from scene to scene without giving any idea how they got there. Then the book ends without an ending. The writing is good.

Yet another brilliant read from Ethan Jones.

What a great new series! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenes are incredible, and the characters are very real. Tom must find the hunter and make sure his son is safe. There are lot of tense moments in the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great thriller.

A lot of action in this one
Tom and his fellow assassin Shivita go from one dangerous situation to another. But they always prevail and usually come out unscathed. And, as usual, the setup for the next book happens right at the end.
