A very creative and beautiful graphic novel depicting another adventure in Halloween Town with our favorite Nightmare Before Christmas characters. Jack unintentionally unleashes mayhem in the town with another one of his overenthusiastic ideas leaving intuitive Sally in charge of predicting the consequences and organizing the chaos.

This was my first official graphic novel read, and it was super fun especially considering the topic. The art work was splendid! I had already kind of adjusted to reading mangas though, so I found myself wanting to read right to left!! 😂

"Imagine, if you will, a mirror... a magical mirror! A mirror that you can take the reflection from! Imagine! Twice the pumpkins! Twice the costumes! Twice the Halloween!"

NBC impacted my life in a huge way when I first witnessed it. The year was 1993 and I was seven years old. I was obsessed with the Phillies, barbies, and Mighty Max. My Dad loved to try to scare us with horror movies, but I was instantly drawn to them. That is where my obsession began, and NBC took my hand and lead me further down that dark road.

This was a fun little story that brings back all of our favorite characters. The story was fun, the illustrations are cute, and it was overall a great addition to NBC. Just wish there was more of our favorite Boogeyman.

When Sally is the planner for Halloween while Jack works on an invention, she has a vision it goes awry and though his invention works, there are tons of copies of everyone. Can she help Jack to reverse it? Read on and find out for yourself.

This was a pretty good graphic novel that fans of the Nightmare Before Christmas movie will enjoy. Be sure to check this book out at your local library and wherever books and ebooks are sold.

What a fun little dash of spookiness read. I have always enjoyed The Nightmare Before Christmas and Sally being the main focus here made me incredibly happy. She's one of my favorite characters and I love how she figures things out. This is a quick read and Jack is up to his hijinks once again! Isn't that all why we adore him? I needed something lighter to try and slide me back into wanting read and this seemed to do the trick! I also loved the Halloween/autumn atmosphere, which I miss already.

Disney Manga: The Nightmare Before Christmas Mirror Moon
Jack has a dream that all the holiday doors were opening at once. Then he starts to imagine how much more fun Halloween Town would be with more doors or more Halloween. Sally is in her home when she hears that Jack has called a meeting. Jack runs into Sally and tells her the idea he got from his dream. Sally is a little unsure. Halloween is only a couple days away. Jack says that’s why he’ll need her help. Sally says of course.

At the meeting, Jack speaks of a magical mirror that you can take the reflection from. The citzens have questions. Can it copy costumes, candy, people noises? Jack says for now he’ll start with costumes and props. Jack says he’s asked Sally to take over all the preparations. Sally is taken aback. She’s never been in charge before. The mayor as is disappointed that Jack abandoned them. (Useless as always). Sally decides to rise to the challenge and get started.

However, after seeing the list, Sally starts to have doubts that she’s cut out for the job. Still, she tells herself he has faith in her. After a while, Sally takes a break. Sally has a vision of a broken mirror. A broken mirror. But why would she break Jack’s mirror. Sally has a bad feeling and wonders if she should tell Jack because everything’s been going good so far. Still, she can’t get the vision out of her head. The frozen water looked like a mirror and when she touched it, it shattered. Sally is interrupted from her thoughts by the vampires who have a concern that they can’t be copies -as they have no reflections- but Sally promises there will be enough work for everyone.

Sally decides to avoid going near Jack’s mirror. When Sally and the Mayor go to approve the pumpkins, they’re disappointed to find the Gourd doesn’t have nearly enough pumpkins. He uses Jack’s mirror copying more as an excuse but Sally tells him its not an excuse to slack off. He says Jack seemed happy with it. He left not long ago. He points her in the direction Jack went. Sally wonders why Jack told Gourd having less pumpkins was fine. One of the witches then stops her and asks her if she has the baneberry for the potions she told her to get. Sally says she hasn’t spoken to her today but the witch said she spoke to her an hour ago. Sally apologizes and goes to get the berries but knows she never spoke to the witch. She realizes something strange must be going on.

While playing fetch with Zero, Sally runs into her clone, but she runs off. So, Sally chases after her but she disappears. (There were also two Zero’s). Sally wonders if Jack is cloning the townspeople already and if so why hasn’t he called another meeting. Sally goes to give the witch some ingredients but she says she was just there. The Mayor is frantic and tells Sally they’re behind on approvals. Some things they don’t have enough of. Other things they’re overflowing with. Jack’s device is working but the delivery isn’t reliable. He asks what Jack said and Sally says she hasn’t talked to Jack since yesterday. The Mayor said he just saw her going to Jack’s tower. Sally says it wasn’t her and they both see that Jack’s mirror device must be making copies of people and not just objects.

The mayor starts to freak out again because how will they know who’s a copy and who isn’t. Sally says she’ll talk to Jack and leaves the mayor to handle the planning. Sally finds out that Jack has only so far been able to copy props. Then she discovers from his explanation that he’s accidently creating the copies and is unaware he is. She also sees that since the copies are created by moonlight, they can be erased by sunlight. Sally leaves Jack a note. The mayor sounds an alert. Because he’s INCOMPETANT OF ANYTHING he can’t keep the copies in control.

There’s a meeting called and Sally says the solution to telling who’s a copy and who isn’t is that the copies don’t have reflections. But Sally says that isn’t important now. Halloween is a week away and they all have to pull together to make it the best one yet. The reflections start to get more disruptive but Sally (with the help of the townspeople) makes sure they all vanish before the sun goes down. Jack makes an announcement that he’s not been able to make copies of sound and next he’ll be working on making copies of anyone who wants a copy of themselves. Sally realizes he didn’t see the note. He tells volunteers to start lining up at his door. Sally catches Jack’s copy and sends Zero to go get Jack.

Jack sees that there are two Zero’s. Then he sees Sally with his clone. Sally explains what’s going on and what has to be done to make them vanish. Jack thinks all is lost but Sally reminds him all the things that did get accomplished. She tells him about her vision. They agree that they don’t need more copies but all the other things worked out. Then they decide there’s still time,

My Thoughts:
This was easier to read than Zero’s Journey. All the illustrations were explained very clearly through dialough and there was nothing left “hazy”. The concept of using the mirror to create copies to amplify Halloween was clever and fun and a good recipe for a little Halloween Town chaos! I kinda wish we got shown more of the chaos rather than just having it be reduced to a conversation between the Mayor and Sally. But other than that it was a good fit for another adventure in Halloween Town.It did get slightly repetitive in places but overall It was worth the find.

Me encantó.

Jack's new invention puts all of Halloween Town in peril, and it's up to Sally to set things right before Halloween is ruined! But with copies of all her friends wandering around up to mischief, how can she tell who to trust?

This is a pretty low stakes adventure, but it's always fun to get more stories set in TNBC universe. This is the kind of story I was hoping to get from Long Live The Pumpkin King - Sally's the hero, and it's all on her to save the day, which she does through her usual ingenuinity and ability to never give up. We don't get a ton of character work, but what we do get made me smile.

There are a couple of weird continuity things that confused me - Sally's still living at Doctor Finkelstein's Lab, which is odd, and Oogie Boogie literally walks past in one panel despite this story clearly being set after the movie, but they're little things that mostly just made me raise an eyebrow rather than ruining the whole thing.

The artwork's adorable though; all of your favourite Halloween Town residents are here in fun colours, and the expressions on Sally and Jack's faces are wonderful. The colours are bright despite the dark setting, and the concept art section in the back really shows how much care was taken in making sure this world looked as it should.

A fun entry into the TNBC canon; quick and easy to read, with some lovely visuals. Recommended.

Good little story for those of us who love The Nightmare Before Christmas realm. Sally is so fabulous! Jack definitely seems flaky or maybe eccentric, but I think that's just personality. Gotta love Jack!

Can Sally save Halloween and Halloween Town before it’s too late?
Master of scares, Jack Skellington has his best idea yet! He’s about to make his dream come true and bring his expertise in spookiness to the other holiday worlds. To do this, he needs to focus solely on his plan and his newest invention to go with it. This means he doesn’t have time for his regular Halloween duties and appoints Sally as the official Halloween planner. As Sally starts coordinating with the residents of Halloween Town, she quickly realizes something is not quite right. In fact, something is very wrong. It’s almost as if she has a secret doppelganger sneaking around the town behind her back. Can she get to the bottom of everything and save the celebrations before it’s too late?
The Nightmare Before Christmas is average for me; I don’t absolutely love it, but I don’t dislike it. I find it enjoyable enough, however, I seem to love every adaptation made from it. I couldn’t wait to read Mirror Moon and it turned out to be a fun and intriguing continuation. The story, written by Mallory Reaves, was unique and exciting; I couldn’t wait to see how this adventure would end. The illustrations, created by Gabriella Chianello and Nataliya Torretta, were absolutely stunning. I loved all of the little details in each picture and felt like this story was captured perfectly. If you’re a NBC fan (or not) check this out!

Another Graphic novel that was just as wonderful as the last one. This time Sally was helping Jack with preparations while Jack worked his idea of doubling everything for Halloween. Till the town people of Halloween Town started being copy and those copies were indeed helping but also causing mischief. Jack didnt know anything he was to busy. Sally tried to help wherever she could. For Jack. Sally would do anything for Jack and for their town. She may not have known what exactly to do but she did everything great and helped out the town to get rid of the copies. Jack of course coming in at the last minute saving everyone with a giant mirror was great timing. After everything Sally still wanted to help Jack and make a memorable Halloween. They make a wonderful team together. The story was amazing the art was beautiful. I want to read more graphic novels for Nightmare Before Christmas. I recommend this graphic novel if your a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas then i suggest you grab a copy.

I'm honestly puzzled by the high reviews for this. The story didn't seem to fit with the mood and atmosphere of the film, and there were utterly bizarre continuity errors like Jack's Pumpkin King personae shown here as a totally different character called "Gourd"? Or Oogie Boogie appearing as just a random townsperson helping to get things done for the holiday, without any explanation? It just felt lazy to me. Jack also seemed out of character, especially as this takes place after the events of the movie. I'm giving it two stars because the artwork is cute and well done. Zero's Journey was much better.

A Spooktacular Read

I'm so glad that I decided to read this today since it's the 30 year anniversary of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and I'm celebrating today by watching/reading anything that has to do with it. This manga was stunning visually and I love the concept of Jack not knowing the amount of chaos he's created with an invention because that is just who he is, and how Sally must once again figure out how to end the chaos. They are definitely a power couple where Sally helps Jack figure out what's wrong and they work together to solve the problem rather than just only one doing it alone. - Shawntaé

Kind of confused by this one, honestly. “Mirror Moon” seems to be set before the movie — Oogie Boogie has a presence, albeit an almost nonexistent one, and Jack and Sally don’t appear to yet be a couple — so it’s rather convenient that the narrative chooses to forget Dr. Finkelstein’s existence. I also don’t understand why Jack dreams about the other holiday towns in relation to his mirroring idea, since the towns have nothing to do with the story and are never brought up again. “Mirror Moon” has a fun premise but poor execution, and on top of it all I just don’t care for this art style very much. Better luck next time, I suppose.

It's the week before Halloween, and Jack is having another brilliant idea to make it the best holiday ever. He wants to make copies of everything to have twice the Halloween! What could possibly go wrong? Once again, it's up to Sally to find the cause of the trouble and set things right.

I love this one mostly for the nostalgia. The story is fun, and the illustrations are bright. It's probably not really a 5-star book, but I can't not love anything Nightmare Before Christmas.

This is a fun reimagining of the world of the Nightmare Before Christmas and adventures in Halloween town. Once again, Sally is the voice of reason and saves the day! This is a cute graphic novel, and the illustrations are vibrant and beautifully drawn. I found myself on each page reading the text first, and then going back to spend some time on the details of the artwork.
Recommended for Jack and Sally fans !

Mirror Moon is a fun, family-friendly adventure in the Nightmare Before Christmas world. Jack Skellington decides that he can help create even more Halloween fun by enchanting a mirror that will make duplicates of all the sights and sounds of Halloween, because twice the scares, twice the fun! However, when Jack’s mirror starts accidentally making duplicates of the citizens of Halloween Town, it’s up to Sally to solve the dilemma and set things right.

This is a great story for fans of any age of the Nightmare Before Christmas, but especially for the younger crowd, who will appreciate the bold illustrations and vibrant colors. A great addition from @tokyopop to the Nightmare Before Christmas lore.

Sally is always there to save the day !
It was a lovely book full of colors and with a new story. Sally was in charge of the preparations of Halloween while Jack was putting his idea to life.
I liked the fact that Sally checked the flower in order to check if Jack's new idea was a good thing or not as in the movie. 🎃🎃🎃🎃
Special mention for the vampires 🧛‍♀️

Ahh this was such a fun story, it was quick paced and very enjoyable! It makes me want to rewatch the movie all over again! In these 5 volumes we see Jack create a mirror that creates doppelgängers and these doppelgänger get into some trouble and sally has to get to the bottom of it and save Halloween, the vibes of this was absolutely everything I loved this!

Now this is the best Sally-centric story I've read yet. I had read one that was published a year or two ago that I had felt didn't capture Sally's character at all correctly (I'll let that one go unnamed). But this one was great, with Sally really handling herself--and the task of planning Halloween--not with ease, but with confidence. Loved this, and the art was gorgeous!

It was a cute little story and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I think my favorite part was looking at the concept art at the end. It's so amazing to look into the behind the scenes of these pieces. Another thing I found cute was the dynamic between Sally and the vampires. She seems to treat them as family, and is very close with them!

Cute! I’m a little confused about the timeline cuz Jack knows about the other holiday doors in this so it must be a sequel but also Oogie is still around in this so it must be a prequel?? Regardless it was very enjoyable and sweet :)
