All she wanted was revenge—until she got it.

After a string of heartbreaks, Savannah abandons her old life for a fresh start. However, old destructive behaviors are hard to leave behind. As she begins to spiral, a mysterious book wrapped in brown paper arrives in her mailbox. The story within its pages seems eerily familiar with a main character who thinks and feels like she did, and has exes just like hers. But when the protagonist in the book begins to murder her exes and hers disappear in real life, the lines between fiction and reality blur.

Desperate to prove the book is just a work of fiction, Savannah hires a private investigator. What the investigator uncovers proves they are now looking for a homicidal author. She wanted her exes to pay, but not with their lives.

Ultimately, Savannah must face her demons to save her future before the past returns for its final chapter.

The Girl No One Loved by author S.C. Shannon should be on your list of most anticipated realeases of 2024. This psychological thriller builds the curiosity up in you like anything. The author takes you through a roller coaster ride of emotions through Savannah's mind/journey that include many turns of trying to put the pieces of this strange puzzle together. A theme of unreliable narrators play a huge support to the plot making us question ourselves at times of who is what, and whether everything is as it is. The flow carries all the way to the end and ends beautifully with an unexpected twist. So If you like the suspense, mystery, revenge, thrill, a tad of romance, and love to tie the threads together this is just for you. I had the honor of reading it twice as a beta reader and I promise it is just bloody good (pun intended 🤭).

sooooo good and super duper twisty
Oh wowzah, I am new to the author and let me tell you this was an incredible read.
A book within a book but in a way you'll never see coming so incredibly creative.
When Savannah receives a mysterious book in the mail she believes it's from her blind date with a book club. As she starts to read the book she realizes that she had just dreamed what she's reading, how can this be. She hires a private investigator to help her figure things out and the wild twisty ride begins. Good luck trying to put this book down it's soo good!!

This book will have you second guessing yourself every step of the way. From the first page you are on edge. The way this book is written, there is no way this is S.C Shannon's second novel!!! It is written in a way that you can actually feel how the MFC is feeling. There are some definite trigger warnings!
-Domestic Violence
-Non consensual sex
-Self harm
-Alcoholism
Even with the trigger warnings??? This book is THE definition of a psychological thriller. Second guessing every single person who you come into contact with?? At one point I was even questioning the dog.
S.C Shannon has written THE psych thriller of the summer. Without a doubt!

Can't wait for Netflix to pick this up as their next series!!!

Wow! This one was truly a twisty thriller. I tend to binge this genre, so a lot of books run together. But S.C. Shannon's second novel, The Girl No One Loved, was a unique treat with a premise unlike anything I've read before. I had no idea where it was going, so I was compelled to read for hours at a time. I also found myself wanting to be friends with the FMC. She was deeply relatable--the painful elements of her past were woven expertly into the story, giving us insight as to why she is the way she is. The bits of humor sprinkled in added a nice touch, especially between emotionally intense scenes. And Fred!!! Love when an author writes in a furry companion with a strong personality!

I believe S.C. Shannon is a real talent and an author you'll want to keep on your radar. I can't wait for her third book; I intend to go back and read her debut while I wait!

The Girl No One Loved is a quick read that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I flew through this psychological thriller and I think it’s great for fans of Kiersten Modglin and Geneva Rose.

When our MC receives a book, she thinks it’s from a book exchange but it’s eerily close to events from her own past. I loved the alternating chapters and the way the mysterious book played into the plot.

This is great for a quick read that will keep you guessing.

I would give it a 3.5 if possible but, since I can't, I went down to 3 stars. it's not quite a 4, on my personal scale.
while the story itself is a good one, there are so many things that didn't add up and were never addressed. holes in the plot. it was also incredibly predictable in "whodunnit" while still leaving some surprise.
decent, quick read!

I was ready for a wild ride and that’s not really what I got. The idea of receiving a book that’s written about your exes and how they’re murdered only to find out that they’ve actually been murdered was intriguing. However, there’s not a lot of suspense as the story plows on and the characters didn’t feel genuine and they’re written rather shallowly.

By the time we got to the big reveal I was pretty checked out so I wasn’t totally surprised or really invested in the story.

I thought I had this all figured out and even thinking this I enjoyed the unfolding of the story. The main character receives a book that details events only she knows with each story ending in death. I was pleasantly surprised with the ending. A fun thriller.

It really had so much potential.
There were too many exclamation points in normal conversations and text messages and the phrase “we will get to the bottom of this”.
The beginning hooked me and I loved how we were reading along with the FMC.

4.5 rounded up to 5.

Savannah starts a new life, with a new identity after suffering several horrifically traumatic relationships. But one day, a book shows up on her doorstep that is eerily similar to her own experiences...and her ex boyfriends start dying suspiciously. Who wrote the book and is getting revenge on all of her exes?

This book was highly entertaining. I loved the short chapters and the quick pacing of the story. It was action-packed and to the point, without too much fluff. I also had no idea where it was going, and the twists were pretty decent. I also liked how relatable and sarcastic Savannah was as a main character. She also came across as somewhat unreliable, as she was in denial about herself and her coping mechanisms for her trauma. I also thought this story had a great social commentary about sexual assault victims and victim blaming, and the guilt that comes along with it. Everything came together at the end in a satisfying way and I wasn't expecting it to end the way it did. I flew through this book in a short couple of days.

Thank you so much to the author for an advanced copy of this novel, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I had the privilege of receiving an early copy of S.C. Shannon’s latest book, “The Girl No One Loved.” From the very first page, I found myself captivated and couldn’t put it down.

The protagonist, Savannah, is on a quest to find her soulmate, longing for a family and a place where she is truly cherished and supported. However, her journey is marred by heartbreak and painful experiences, leading her to seek solace in therapy to overcome her past traumas. When she stumbles upon a book detailing a girl’s vengeful story mirroring her own struggles, Savannah’s reality is shaken, forcing her to confront her sanity and relationships.

This psychological thriller is a gripping tale from beginning to end, with well-developed characters and a suspenseful narrative that keeps you engaged throughout. Unlike many books in this genre, the pacing of the story is deliberate, building tension steadily. The unexpected twist at the conclusion left me in awe. In summary, “The Girl No One Loved” is an outstanding read that I highly recommend to any thriller enthusiast.

Have you ever been romantically "dumped"? After recovering from the initial hurt, one wants to exact a certain amount of revenge on the person that has put you through so much torment.

S.C. Shannon has written a riveting thriller in The Girl No One Loved. The main character, Savannah, has been loved and left several times in her young life. Savannah has finally decided to put her past behind her and move on when she receives a book from an unknown person. This leads her down a path of trauma, romance, alcoholism, stalkers, murder and revenge. Just when you think you have everything figured out there is a twist that goes in an entirely different direction. It's impossible to put this book down until it's finished.

S.C. Shannon has covered it all in this mystery. The Girl No One Loved is a MUST read.

This book was SO GOOD!! I literally could not put it down! I really loved the whole “book within a book” concept for a thriller as it made the plot very unique. Savannah’s character was also so intriguing and I enjoyed delving into her psyche throughout the book. Her character development really exemplified what it’s like for an individual to cope with their trauma and to deal with their toxic relationships. I’m really glad she got her happy ending (she deserves it after going through all of that😭). And of course, every good thriller has an immaculate plot twist — and the plot twist was INSANE. I had my suspicions on who the perpetrator was, but when I found out who was really involved I was completely caught off guard! Overall, this was one of my favorite reads of the year, and if you like psychology/forensic psychology or thrillers in general I would strongly recommend reading this!

I just finished The Girl No One Loved by S. C. Shannon, and I genuinely could not put it down. This is one of those books where you feel compelled to keep reading because you need to understand what is really going on.

The clues are there, but they are subtle and thoughtfully placed, giving the story a quiet Agatha Christie–style feel without becoming predictable. The character development is especially strong and allows you to become fully invested in each person and their role in the story.

There is one character in particular you are almost encouraged to dislike, and that misdirection is handled beautifully. Just when you think you have figured everything out, the story shifts again, even in the final 15 to 20 pages.

For an author early in their career, this is an impressive and confident piece of work. If this is only book two, I cannot wait to see what comes next.

I absolutely loved this book!!

I loved how the author had me second-guessing myself the entire time. "Do we trust this person? Do we not trust this person?" I had serious trust issues with every single person in this book! I was constantly turning the clues over in my head to try and solve the mystery.

I'm normally very good at following context clues and can usually figure out how stories will end, but I did not see this ending coming!!
I did have my icky feelings toward someone validated in the end, though, so that felt good.

Aahh it was so goooooood!

Overall, this was a roller coaster of a thriller that had me captivated from beginning to end!

I highly recommend you read it!

I was lucky enough to read this book in it's early stages and even then it was one of the best books I've ever read. The whole concept of the book she receives correlating with real life and not having any idea who is responsible was just so brilliant and I was at the edge of my seat for every second of this incredible ride. S.C. Shannon masters tension and storybuilding better than any author I've read.

It's no secret, I'm a sucker for books about books. From the moment Savannah got a book dropped on her porch, I was hooked. I liked the short, meaty chapters and I liked how each left me with a mini-cliffhanger that made me keep reading. And that ending, bam. Everyone is suspicious and the outcome is crazier than I could have ever pictured.

If you're looking for a twisty, unputdownable read – check this one out! It's fun and different and easy to get sucked into.

The amount of times I read “we will get to the bottom of this!” was comical. The characters felt very one dimensional apart from Savannah, almost like they were cardboard cut outs of characters for her to interact with. They all had the same voice, tone, delivery. A lot of exclamation points happening. It seems like there was a lot of filler with Savannah rehashing the same points over and over again. I wanted to like it more but the writing was not it for me.

Eye For an Eye

Savannah has gone through many bad relationships, causing her a lot of pain and trauma. She is at the point in her life where she is ready to take charge. Is revenge the answer or is she going to let karma take its course. It’s so many relatable instances in this book that you would swear Shannon wrote it about you.

There were a few things that were hinted in the middle of the book that led me to figuring out who all was involved. However, those clues were not enough to give away the full list of people and things involved!
I'll definitely be looking for other stories by this author!

Y’all this book BLEW my mind!!

The story…
The characters…
The friggin twists…

This book was unputdownable! (Is that a word? It should be).

I was gripped to the edge of my seat with this one. From the beginning to the end, this one will captivate you. The book flows so well, the short chapters make it seem like you can just fly through the book.

The plot of this book is one that is going to live rent free in my head for a very long time. It was so twisty and absolutely crazy. Could you imagine getting a book in the mail and reading it only to see that it mirrors, the past you left behind. All. The. Gory. Details. I’m telling you it’s so crazy good.

It’s a who did it book, one you’re constantly trying to figure out. Every time I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong. And the twist, at the end! Mind blown!

So good an incredible book! I cannot recommend it enough.
