He's a man with a hole in his life, a hole that can be filled by only one woman. She's a woman who married a wonderful man, quite possibly the wrong man.
Four years ago, superstar Dane Pierce walked away from the greatest love of his life for the sake of his best friend. Leaving Hollywood for the wilds of Wyoming seemed the only choice.
Now, after a tragic event changes the course of his life, Dane must face the conflict between principle and desire, and struggle to uphold the impossible promise he made.
But promise or no promise, Dane cannot hide for long his desire for Jessica MacKendall in this heart-stopping sequel to "StarCrossed Hearts".
“I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else,” Anne Carter asserts, when asked about her life in Southern California, where she’s lived since she was two. She cites the people, the weather and the beach as factors in her love affair with the West coast. Family, too, provides an anchor to the area, which she describes as a melting pot of humanity, “rich with characters and plots just waiting to be written.”
While romantic mystery and suspense are her favorites, Anne has written middle grade mysteries, literary shorts, poetry and non-fiction. Long a lighthouse fanatic, it was only a matter of time before her obsessions intersected and a series of lighthouse novels emerged. Paranormal elements abound in POINT SURRENDER, CAPE SEDUCTION and ANGEL'S GATE, where mystery, romance and troubled ghosts provide hauntingly entertaining tales set in California lighthouses.
When she is not writing, editing or promoting, Anne enjoys time with her husband and three children, two grands and one neurotic dog. She is a skilled photo editor and loves restoring old snapshots and creating digital slideshows. Watch for the fourth paranormal lighthouse mystery, AMOROSO PASS, coming soon!

When I reviewed StarCrossed Hearts, the first book in this StarCrossed trilogy, I said it was romance with a touch of class. Well, that holds true for this one also. I have to admit I LOVED Dane Pierce more than Mac in the first book, and I am so glad Ms. Carter decided to write the second book about Dane.
With A Hero’s Promise, we continue the journey with the three Hollywood movie stars. Jessica, Cory (Mac) the man she married, and Dane, the one who first stole her heart, the heart that Mac recovered for her. Dane still carries the torch for Jessica, but that flame is surely one sided now. The emotional rollercoaster that Dane seems to be on while honoring an impossible promise is enough to bring any man to his knees, a promise no one knows he made.
A Hero’s Promise made me cry at one point. If a book can make me cry, it must be good. There are a few twisty turns in this book--one that shocked me. The one that made me cry. I just wasn’t ready for that big one. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes romance, particularly anyone interested in the lives of movie stars. Past and present. I had a picture of this trio in my head while reading. The name Brangelina came to mind once or twice. This was purely my imagination. I’m sure when you read this, there will be other famous couples that might come to your mind. I can’t wait for the third book. I would liked to add that I really liked the tie in to another series by Anne Carter, Point Surrender, the first book in her lighthouse series. Great job, Anne. ☺☺☺☺☺ ♥♥♥♥♥
A Hero's Promise by Anne Carter is tremendous. Again, movie quality, and I have even chosen the stars in my head. These characters are so addicting, I could read their lives forever. Carter has a magical way of turning tragedy into such harmony that I was left wondering what would have happened if... Just completely well done. I highly recommend everything written by Anne Carter.
