Like all dark romance readers, I love a strong, morally grey MMC, but Helena kicks a$$!
The chemistry between Camden and Helena was crazy. The things she does to him while he's unaware, are shockingly hot. When they finally give in to their attraction it is absolute explosive!
When Dr Helena and Camden aren't stealing moments together, they are working to catch a serial killer, The Butcher.

The blood. The guts. And the smut 👀Helena is a bad ass woman and Camden is definitely her golden retriever. This has all the makings of a crime thriller but wrapped in a smutty and psychological bow.
As a Criminal Minds and Hannibal fan, this book really hits all the marks you would expect it to and more. Helena's SUSHI?! love that. This was the first book I've read by Sarah Daniels and I really fell in love with her writing and I just really loved how the characters developed as the story progressed.
Ugh I really loved the twist at the end and all the crime terminology made me so happy (fun fact: I have a bachelor's degree in crime scene investigation!).
I really loved the neurodivergent representation with Camden and how Helena accepted him despite his "flaws" even though it really wasn't a flaw but more so a super power in a sense.
Definitely landed a spot of one of my favorite books of all time. Excited to see what Sarah has up her sleeve next!! 😍

I just…😮💨 So so many thoughts! First, this book is DARK. Not dark like “yeah I like dark romance, he spanked her once” dark. I mean DARK DARK. So I highly recommend really looking through the trigger list before diving in. If you are like me, have no triggers and… um… use trigger lists kinda as check lists, BUCKLE UP!
Do you like criminal minds? Do you like Dexter? Do you like silence of the lambs? Well, they all got together and had one hell of a dark, sexy, unexpected, and sensually disturbed baby in this book. Plus, imagine Dexter/hannibal is actually the sexiest, most brilliant minded FEMALE psychologist and criminal profiler ever. PICTURE IT!
You will question things about yourself. You will go, “AHH!!” at least once. And you will feel so many emotions at the end. Which emotions? …..kinda all of em.
Do you like criminal minds? Do you like Dexter? Do you like silence of the lambs? Well, they all got together and had one hell of a dark, sexy, unexpected, and sensually disturbed baby in this book. This 👏🏻 book 👏🏻 was 👏🏻 so 👏🏻 𝐕𝐈𝐋𝐄 … messy and exquisitely disturbing in only the way an extremely dark and twisted erotic horror can be.
Camden & Helena have two sides…one a renowned forensic psychiatrist with a hidden bloodlust for revenge, the other a rookie FBI Agent harboring a depraved past and the scars to prove it.
Camden straddling the edge of his morals…along with his waning sanity was a fresh take on the typical “morally grey” MMC seeing as he’s a federal employee and I ate it up (pun intended 😈).
Helena’s methods took a bit of figuring out and while I wouldn’t call it your average HEA…Devour was tied into a nearly neat bow…until that epilogue 😉
C & M were two of the most debauched MCs I can remember reading and I can’t wait for book 2!

I Devoured this book! I had the absolute pleasure of Alpha reading this! I adored Helena and Camden! If you love criminal minds/ Dexter/ Hannibal this is definitely a book you should read! The plot and twists are so good! The 🌶️ is 🔥🔥🔥and a little deranged and I loved every moment of it!

Boy howdy was this book a super dark read! But I absolutely ate it up (sorry I couldn't help myself)!
Daniels did a wonderful job at creating compelling characters that I couldn't help but end up liking. Helena and Camden are a wonderfully unhinged couple and I loved the tension between them as the somewhat slow-burn...well smoldered. And when we got some spice, it was quite spicy.
The story itself was interesting and kept me guessing and curious about what would happen next. I loved the realistic details Daniels included throughout the book. I also really enjoyed Daniels' writing style, which was descriptive without being tedious. I felt that the pace of the book was good because there are moments of action sprinkled throughout, but it never felt unbalanced with quieter moments.
This book is quite graphic in a number of ways and if you're at all squeamish, I would not recommend this. Let's just say some characters have an appetite for forbidden meats...there weren't a lot of scenes that dealt with this, but there were a handful and I'm very grateful I wasn't eating while I read them.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and I plan to read all of Daniels' books. If you're cool with the triggers and a dark, heavy and graphic read, then I highly recommend this one!

OMFG!!! This story was incredible. It was dark, depraved, brutal, twisted, spicy and violently bloody. Everything I look forward to in a pitch-black story. Definitely not for the faint of heart or those that are going to get squeamish over some of the twisted and gory moments that happen in the story.
I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nails with anticipation of what the hell was going to happen next, and squirming with delight over what transpires right before my eyes.
Camden had my heart in a chokehold. He has a very unique and beautiful gift that he tries to hide so that he can be the best in his field without others looking down on him. He disassociates and loses big chunks of time, which could be his downfall. But I just wanted to reach in a give the poor guy a well-deserved hug.
Helena is a unique person. She’s brilliant, and utterly unhinged – which made me love her more! She sees what others don’t in Camden. She feels the darkness he’s trying to hide and knows just how to bring it out in him. But she also knows how to calm his racing mind and bring him back from the dissociative episodes that he continually has.
The banter and interactions between Helena and Camden was EVERYTHING!! It was filled with an insane sexual tension that utterly drew me in and had me begging for more.
The steamy moments between these two were kinky, smutty and highly erotic. Helena had me craving her sweet talk and I would definitely get on my knees for her!
This story was so freaking good. There were little plot twists that kept me in suspense the whole way through. And there were many WTF moments that had me screaming, but there were some sweet moments that I loved too! And that ending - WOW! It wasn’t what I was expecting but it utterly blew me away!

I devoured this book! (Pun intended, sort of). Sarah Daniels is the queen of dark romance books and I’m here for all of it. The characters in Devour are addictive and keep you wanting more, you’ll basically be calling them some of your favorite characters towards the end of the book. One thing I find myself always writing in reviews for Sarah’s books is that they always keep me on the edge of my seat and they always have me wanting more. Also it gave off Criminal Minds vibes and I want more.
If you consider reading this book definitely check the TW because this book won’t be for everyone.

okay, look….the amount of kicking my feet & giggling that happened while i read this was unexpected. for my first dive into a horror/thriller book, i was pleasantly surprised at how much i enjoyed it.
i absolutely adored this way more than i should have for how wild of a ride it was. from the first meeting of our MMC Camden, i was hooked. poor little ADHD baby with a sprinkle of the tism was way too relatable (without all the dark, twisted thoughts of course). learning about him & his past throughout the story had me wanting to give him so much love.
and Helena…..WHEW 😮💨 i didn’t realize how much i needed a morally gray, certifiably insane FMC in my life but she ticked off all the boxes. i can see why Cam was obsessed with her! and her conversations/banter with her inner darkness were some of my favorite parts of the whole book.
the chemistry between these two was clear from the beginning, and that ending….LORD HAVE MERCY i was NOT expecting that. the pacing throughout led to a very fun, action packed, and intense final act that led to the very bloody finale that literally had me blinking into oblivion for a solid ten minutes after i turned my kindle off.
overall, i’m so glad this was my first dive into a new genre for me. i would absolutely rec this as long as you keep in mind the TW’s, and i absolutely cannot wait to see what twisted fantasy sarah comes up with next!!

Such a different read than I expected, intriguing, twisted and very confusing - really felt like I was in Camden's mind quite a lot.
Also, I loved Helena's morally grey self, her darkness and her obsession.

I didn't really know what to expect from this book, but I was instantly hooked - a morally grey (almost black) FMC that also had a strong sense of right and wrong mixed with a sweet and kind MMC with a traumatic past.
She touched my Camden. He is mine. MINE. No one fucking touches what's mine.
The vibes and aesthetic of the story was both mysterious and suspense-full and I was quite confused at times, which just added to the mystery and sort of wtf-moments I had. I'm very impressed with the writing and storytelling and how the author fitted all the pieces together.
Also, both main characters were complex and interesting, and though they were clear opposites their souls recognized each other and even with the instant attraction and sizzling chemistry it was still a bit of a slow burn (in a way) which gave them time to really get to know each other. Though with the strong obsession it wasn't that important… I loved the neurodivergent rep with Camden even if it added to the confusion, I just felt with him and his struggles and found it quite realistic and relatable.

The plot itself was solid, the characters were well-developed, the pacing was also great and the spice was wonderfully balanced, but something about the book just wasn't for me, maybe due to the confusion which made me feel a bit disconnected.
I was entertained, but that ending - seriously… It had me yelling out loud, but also I kind of knew it would happen.

A dark romance with a criminal minds twist!
Camden is a new FBI agent with his sights set on joining the BAU. He is naturally empathetic which not only makes him extremely good at his job but very valuable to his bosses. He has ADHD which is so good to see portrayed like that in such a high-profile job role.
Helena is a forensic psychiatrist who is also an expert surgeon, she is the best in her field and regularly helps the FBI. It is thro9ugh giving a lecture on one of her books at the training academy that she first meets Camden and is immediately taken by him, noticing his unique gifts.
When they eventually work a case together trying to hunt down a serial killer their attraction and feelings for each develop really quickly. Although Helena’s original motive and methods to get close to Camden are very questionable. Some of the things she did seemed a bit confusing, and did feel bad for Camden with some of the things she did. By the end of the book she has realised her true feelings and you do feel that she does feel guilty for the route she took to get there.
There is not a lot of spice in the book focusing more on the plot, but when it does happen it is heated between them. Nice change in dynamic with Helena being the older in the relationship and tending to take charge of the encounters.
It was Camden that is the pull in the story for me and his character journey to coping and accepting his gift and not hiding who he really is. There are plenty of twists you don’t see coming, which all come to a head in the final few chapters.
The book is dual POV which I really enjoyed, however there were occasions where there was some overlap from both characters. But other than that, I did enjoy getting to read the same scene from the different perspective.
Looking forward to the next book in the twisted metamorphosis series.

This was my first @author.sarah.daniels book. I never considered myself a dark romance reader until I read something similar a few months back and found my way to Sarah. When I got the blurb about Devour I knew I had to read it. I am a huge Criminal Minds/ FBI etc fan. Add in the Silence of the lambs vibe and it was everything.
The chemistry between Helena and Camden from the start screams OBSESSION! And I am here for it. The entire time I was reading this book I kept picturing a twisted version of Spencer Reed and then a dark twisted version of Dr. Bones. Sarah’s ability to make every moment Camden felt give us an exact picture speaks volumes to her writing abilities. I felt like I was at every crime scene vividly and that I could feel / see the spicy scenes (either of his imagination or real) as well. The way the book loops full circle to the big reveal/ plot twist was fantastic. And although Sarah warned us in the Triggers regarding this not having a Traditional Happy Ending I still did not see the ending coming the way that it did, however it was a better ending than the one I was picturing so amazingly done!!!! I can’t wait to try and get my hands on Sarah’s next book in the series.
I recommend this book to dark romance lovers, and those that like shows like Criminal Minds etc, however, please be aware of the triggers. Without giving too much away the ones I consider Important to know are as follows: cannibalism, knife and blood play, necrophiliac, drug induced mental states and mental health issues.

It's an enticing hook...a female serial unaliver of evil doers (Helena), disposes of them by night but by day works with the FBI as a profiler of sorts. She teams up with a younger but very bright Camden, who is preternaturally empathic, making him a wunderkind at the bureau. Helena takes to him and sees that he may have a similar dakness to her own and she wants to cultivate it.
I was very much taken by sweet Camden. He has a crush on Helena but also highly respects her professional knowledge and they form a sizzling comradery as Helena pushes his buttons, taking pride in watching him work on cases that are her own victims!
Camden's skills are pretty much exactly like Will Graham's from Red Dragon/the Hannibal series. He's got ADHD as well, and I appreciated the care and POV into his mindstate and how he sees the world.
Towards the latter 1/3 though, I didn't quite believe the flip from his more clean cut and wholesome personality into a dark one so akin to Helena. The mystery serum she used on him to flip his darkness on also confused me, how he seems so lucid at times with it and when he fades away seem inconsistent. It felt a bit forced by the final act and I don't feel he'd have relinquished his personality so fully and completely.
For most of the book though it's because of Camden that I kept reading...his sweetness, his desire to do good, his tormented past (which I wish she saw more of), his confusion on his feelings towards Helena and handling his abilities.

You left me in complete shock. It was totally unexpected and unbelievable, and I can't believe that the ending is true. I have a theory, but I won't tell because it'll be considered a spoiler.
But honestly, I loved the book. The beginning was great, and the first meeting of Helena and Camden turned out to be pretty interesting 👀. "I see you, Camden. All of you."
and how she sees all of this because she is his Stalker🫠. A fictional Female stalker; usually we read about stalker MMC but here it's the opposite. The middle part and ending were also great. Actually, the whole book was amazing. I had a great time reading it, and when I actually got to know about the Norfolk killer...I gasped for real.
The writing was good. The book was written in both POVs, making it easy to understand and feel the emotions of both characters.
Both Helena and Camden give dark and twisted vibes on different levels. Helena is a FMC who will kill you brutally if you touch Camden, and it goes both ways. Both are Touch Him/Her and 💀characters.
They are crazy, especially Helena and it's the only word I can associate with her, but crazy in a positive way, and as for Camden, he hasn't reached Helena's level of crazy yet. I'm sitting here to explore more of them, maybe in the next book.
I'll just say that if you can handle TWs, then definitely dive for it. Run and grab your copy and read it. You won't regret it.

But as Camden’s obsession to crack the case collides with his infatuation with Helena, he is thrust into his own darkness. And Helena, with her own secrets and pastimes, is in charge of the light switch.

These two were everything. Camden killed me with his past and his current struggles, and Helena was everything I want in a darkly-coded FMC. She was an absolute menace, and I couldn’t stop eating them up. I loved how this story unfolded. Helena’s brutality, the twists, the ending? Loved it. Absolutely devoured, though, I will probably no longer accept meaty meals from anyone after this.

These two were everything. Camden killed me with his past and his current struggles, and Helena was everything I want in a darkly-coded FMC. She was an absolute menace, and I couldn’t stop eating them up. I loved how this story unfolded. Helena’s brutality, the twists, the ending? Loved it. Absolutely devoured, though, I will probably no longer accept meaty meals from anyone after this.

This book was dark and almost made me throw up for a second. When a book does that to me, that’s when it’s already AMAZING AND THAT IS WHAT THIS BOOK IS!!!! This story had me engaged and I couldn’t stop reading it bc I had to know what happens next. I was EATING IT UP!!!!!!
The chemistry between those 2 was clear from the VERY BEGINNING!! They both wanted each other since the day, they laid eyes on them. The smut was Top Tier MUWAH spectacular!!! I need a mortally grey FMC and Helena DID HER SHIT!!!!!
The ending tho!!! THE ENDINNGGGG OH SARAH BROKE ME WITH THAT ONE!!! I was staring at the wall for about 2 full minutes!

My mind is still reeling!!!!
This book was absolutely insane, in the best way possible.
This left me wanting os much more honestly, i never wanted helena and camdens story to end. I loved the way it was written and it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
The ending had me raving on and on about, it leaves you on this level of shock and obsession.
Sarah has never let me down when reading her books and i am beyond obsessed with each story she puts out.

When I heard about Devour I was so excited to read it and then it came and it didn’t disappoint but I wouldn’t read it while eating or after just eating because well some characters have a appetite for “forbidden meat” and when I say “forbidden meat” I don’t mean we don’t know what it is but I personally wouldn’t eat that kind of meat but hey to each there own. We are introduced to Camden and Helena and each one of them has a infatuation with the other character and when they come together they have crazy kind of chemistry but they also make great at getting a serial killer. Both of these characters have their own struggles but in some way they’re able to help the other. With Camden he has always wanted his fathers approval and Helena well she has an interesting appetite and has a deep dark secret. Yes this book is dark and graphic but it actually is a really good worth taking the time to read especially if your a fan of Dexter, Criminal Minds or Silence of The Lambs this is your book.

Biggest takeaway is that this is an incredibly enjoyable, but dark, read. Mind the trigger warnings and you'll likely come away having had a really good time.
The main characters have excellent chemistry and their scenes together, both of the spicy variety and the more mundane, are wonderful. I love that Helena is the morally gray one of the two.
My only real irk with the book is that at times, the description of Camden's ADHD and how his brain worked were a bit over the top. Having ADHD myself, it reminded me a bit of many conversations that I have had with neurotypical friends trying to justify why I am the way I am. This is by no means a negative thing. The author explained things clearly and well. For me, personally, it was a bit too at the forefront early on. I absolutely suggest you not let this be the reason you don't try this book. This will not be true for everyone.
I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

Separately Helena and Camden are both deep characters with different levels of darkness. Together they are insane. I love a strong morally grey MMC but Helena kicks them all to the curb. She had me falling to my knees saying “yes, Doctor” so fast.
The tension and chemistry between Camden and Helena was crazy. When they finally give in 🔥🥵🫠 You are in for a treat 😉
If Helena and Camden aren’t stealing moments together, they are working to catch a serial killer. And ohhh man,the plot twists 🫢 ..I might have already said too much 🤐

This book was a phenomenal ride! It’s very dark so please read TWs and take them seriously as a lot of messed up stuff happens in this book. That being said I absolutely loved it, suppose that says more about me 😂. This book had a very criminal minds feel to it and I am totally here for it. Camden is a complex MMC whose mind is both his greatest gift and its own worse enemy. Helena has her own brand of darkness that she deals with but she can’t just help herself when it comes to Camden. When their darkness comes together it’s definitely explosive. The story is complex and gripping and you can’t help but want to keep reading to see what happens next. The sexual tension between them is pulled tighter than an elastic band at breaking point and when it does snap my goodness is it hot and steamy. The ending leaves you with a lot more questions than answers and I really am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This was definitely a dark read. Horror/Thriller romance. It gave criminal minds mixed with Dexter and honestly it was completely F’d up and twisted and I LOVED IT.
It was a quick read too even though it took me several days to finish but that was a me problem fr not the book. This book could easily be read in one sitting.
It’s first person dual POV that will have you saying “the f*ck?!” to yourself several times and the end will have you screaming it.

This was definitely a dark read. Horror/Thriller romance. It gave criminal minds mixed with Dexter and honestly it was completely F’d up and twisted and I LOVED IT.
It was a quick read too even though it took me several days to finish but that was a me problem fr not the book. This book could easily be read in one sitting.
It’s first person dual POV that will have you saying “the f*ck?!” to yourself several times and the end will have you screaming it.

Helena isn't like any FMCs I've ever read about before, she's completely unhinged & will not let any women touch Camden. I honestly didn't want to like her as much as I did just because she made me gag thru like most of this book, but she's bad ass and didn't give two fucks about her actions and that made me love her 🖤😂
Camden... Oh Camden... He was obsessed the moment he seen Helena but he was too anxious to act on it. Poor guy but luckily Helena was a bad bitch & took matters into her own hands😂

June 27, 2024I was very lucky to get an arc for this copy in exchange for an honest review and let me tell you... this book is WILD🤭
I've had the honor to get to know Sarah through the past couple of months and I know how much work she's put in this book and it shows.
I adored everything about it, it is UNHINGED, it is insane, it is beautiful in some ways; it had me questioning my morals but not ONCE was I ever bored and I think that is props for Sarah's writing. She kept me hooked the entire way through and at the end, I wanted MORE, I needed MORE and I just loved every second of it.
If you're interested in picking up this book, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Check trigger warnings; while I did absolutely adore every second of it; it is a very unhinged book and it won't be for everyone.

Theres an FBI Agent, world renowned Forensic Psychiatrist, reverse age gap, obsession, in the hunt, darkness, cuisine (à la Hannibal Lecter!), mental health rep, vigilante, medicinal cocktails, touch him/her & Vera, the hot mustang!
Camden and Helena are unique, each in their own way. The hunt for a k!ller is our plot but so much more evolves along the way. Cam’s gift of delving into minds earns him an impressive success rate in case solving, then he is paired with the woman he’s obsessed over for years. She intern may be into a little light stalking and other… extracurricular activities.
This was an interesting read. Lots of tension with a bit of a slow burn and some fantasy day dreams added into the mix! I would say this is a little different from some of the previous reads by Sarah Daniels but equally well written and cleverly done with the way the plot falls.
