As someone who loves to read and is always striving for personal growth, I am continuously seeking ways to improve every aspect of my life. I have noticed that ineffective communication has caused many failed relationships in the past. I have read countless books on the topic, so I didn't expect to find anything new in Emma Leigh Weber's "Nonviolent Communication." However, I was proven wrong—her insights were eye-opening and beneficial.

“Nonviolent Communication” is a comprehensive resource for enhancing relationships through effective communication techniques. Weber breaks down the principles, providing guidance on navigating difficult conversations, respecting boundaries, and creating meaningful discussions.

In the past, miscommunications and biased perspectives have been my downfall. I am grateful for the techniques outlined in this book to help me become more objective and improve my communication skills. I believe this book could have saved my marriage. Although it may be late, there is always room for improvement in behavior and relating to my husband as a co-parent, as well as any future partners that may enter my life.

Words cannot fully express the depth of my gratitude for such a book as this

A better approach to interacting with the world

This is a good book on finding better ways to communicate. Emma Weber does an excellent job of explaining nonviolent communication principles, techniques, and strategies that can change communication styles and deepen connections with others. But as she states though, effective communication also requires the ability to manage emotions in the heat of the moment. Regulating emotions will influence the quality and outcome of our interactions with others. Another great point is the use of boundaries in communication. I never thought about how boundaries can make communication better and even reduce conflict. Emma has given us a lot of insight to consider in order to communicate better with each other.

Communication is key

Communication can be challenging. For me it’s public speaking and talking to staff. There really is a way to communicate with empathy, collaboration, and assertiveness. Managing emotions, maintaining composure, and the power of persuasion are important chapters as were boundaries and self-respect. I like the way the author presented the many different types of communication. I can’t control how others communicate, I can work on and control how I communicate.

A very good guide

I appreciated the 137 techniques that focus on speaking up and setting boundaries without confrontation. The book helped me tackle difficult conversations more effectively and understand others better. While the content is thorough and well-structured, it can sometimes feel dense. Still, I found myself returning to it for guidance on navigating personal and professional relationships. Overall, a valuable resource for anyone looking to enhance their communication skills and foster meaningful connections.

The part that I liked the most was the one where the author talks about how to maintain composure and self respect with personal attacks.
