Following a formidable five-year stint behind bars, Molly Ivanov finds herself navigating the unfamiliar terrain of freedom once again. However, readjusting to life outside the confines of prison proves to be a challenging task for her as she grapples with the stark realities of unemployment, strained relationships, and a slight obsession with her mysterious, asshole neighbor (who doesn't look twice her way).
A fleeting but passionate encounter with him leaves her longing for more, only to be met with his sudden departure, leaving her alone and searching for stability. Three years later, he resurfaces at her workplace, unchanged and seemingly indifferent to the depth of her emotions. With his presence, she realizes that what began as a mere crush has thrived into something that consumes her every thought.
First of all. Triggers all the way through. This book is Devastating. Ripped my heart out squeezed it tight and punched it back in my chest. Their story and the tragedies they went through left me crying and breathless. Sometimes I had to put it down and walk away. I needed breaks from it just to get through it but I persevered. Almost wished for a different ending or a second book to continue their story and hope for something to finally be right. If you can stomach the triggers both mentally and emotionally the. Buckle up and get ready for a Barren ride. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. To The writer L. A. Barren, first of all wow. Also, please keep doing what you’re doing. Know that as a reader sometimes the warm fuzzies and happy endings are nice but they always seem to fake to be real. This right here this struck so many cords. This story kept me riveted until the last page. So thank you for making me cry. And for this completely immersed ride with you. I’m happy to be off the ride and on the other side of it though. My heart still needs time to heal. Lol I wasn’t prepared. And might need a few days to move on to something new to read. That says something when a book and it’s characters leave a person to digest what the read for a few days. Keep writing. Keep touching people. Thank you.
