Strangely Scary Funny #7

The Librarian and the Devil

Rate this book
Book 1—A fun, fast, fantastical After an altercation with a clown, I get lost in the woods and find a strange town. When the librarian of the town dies in front of me, I try on his ring. It fits. I’m declared the new librarian by the mayor and townspeople. I get to live in a houseful of books. But I soon learn the job involves more than just tomes and information. In fact, my first assignment is to discover who murdered my predecessor.

This is book 7 of the Strangely Scary Funny series. In this one the Devil, who happens to be the librarian's (main character and novel's narrator) father, is under siege because of a takeover attempt in hell. It turns out this is a family affair since one of his children in leading the coup. Families. Always complicated. Meanwhile in Eden, the librarian has other troubles to deal with as well as family issues.

I write supernatural horror suspense comedy (a mix of dark humor, quirky, silly humor and satire.), .

I love many kinds of stories. I especially love off-beat, quirky stories with unusual characters and settings that have a sense of wonder and humor.…Falling in love with stories saved me from a life of crime (I’m only sort of kidding; they did save me from something). A lot of my main characters are adopted. Like them, I was adopted. I seem to write often about identity. I live in Austin, Texas. I have no horses or cowboy hats. I do have a 125 pound sheep dog. I’ve taught college, been a bartender and waiter and am now a full-time writer.

I've had five novels traditionally published and something like fifteen independently published. My independently published series, Strangely Scary Funny, is, by far, my most popular.

I like writing most anything. My grocery lists are excellent.

This kindle ebook novel is from my Kindle Unlimited account book seven of twelve

His father has been replaced by a daughter and the fun begins! The daughter has taken all of fathers powers away. They spent time trying to restore the powers. It all ends well. 😊🌜

I would recommend this series and author to readers of fantasy world 🌐 horror adventure thriller novels 😮😏 2025 🌃🤔

Editing

While there were a lot fewer this time there was one significant one near the end with some weird duplicated paragraphs. Somehow this feels more tolerable reading on a digital device, but I wonder how I’d feel with these hiccups in a paper version.

Prince Kevin

Ok, by this time, book 7 of (at least) 10 I’m not really reviewing only each book, but the series.

And book 7 is a great example of the series. Full of side stories which help the story along. Rich, detailed descriptions of characters and places. Odd, unsettling typos ;) Clever, challenging, creative twists and turns for Kevin to struggle with. The many, many references to history, science and literature, often unexplained, trusting that the reader “gets” the joke.

I enjoy that Kevin stays in character and refuses to compromise his beliefs, his core character.

I also enjoy how Kevin uses positive thinking and just decides what powers and abilities he has. “Oh, you can teleport? I ought to be able to s well!”

On the way to book 8! See you there!

Cheers!

Its Relevation... no s

Yansky keeps the condensed and intense action up in book 7. I was more disappointed that he made the rookie mistake of adding the s to the book of Revelation. That is nit-picking its disappointing because he is tackling some very lofty subjects as the series progresses. Yes they are covered in a thin smoky haze but they lay at the foundation of this series as scary funny as the series is it burns hot like ancient flames and is a deep meaningful pit that is easy to fall into.

Poor Kevin

This one was the most intense story yet. It's always good vs evil. And sometimes good isn't really good and it's kind of evil too. Makes you wonder. I always think Good will win in the end. No matter what.
Kevin takes everything in stride. Never panics. Always has a plan! Also thankful for fluffy!

Grabs your attention

Such an enchanting and funny series. In this one the librarian goes to hell to help his father (Satan) battle his sister who is trying to take over the throne. All the while, there is a raging fire heading straight for Eden… and the librarian.

Joy to read and makes one think...hmmmm

I enjoy reading this series, Eden, and the characters. Not really scary but strangely entertaining and makes one see good and evil from a different perspective.

About this series...

I've read every book. I had no idea they would entertain me this much. Books are my escape from life's daily reality. Never thought the Anti-Christ would take my mind off my problems! Strange.

One of the better in this series where the Devil's son, and reluctant anti-Christ, must save Eden yet again and, oddly enough, return his father to power in hell. Mildly bizarre, humorously tongue-in-cheek, with a bit of lively realism.

Lower rating due to the continuous typos. Did anyone else notice about his mistake with Rowena?

Not enough time

There are so many questions left unanswered and so many sequels to read. I wonder if the writer, Bran Yansky, knows that he has mastered the phrase, “Cliff Hanger?”

Kevin has too much going on to be contained in one novel. Hence, a series of 13 books. Hopefully, by the end, hell will get a chance to take a break as well. It will be well deserved.
