In a season of loneliness? Take comfort in the stories of other women who share their own honest experiences of feeling isolated, struggling to find friends, and still finding a meaningful way through.
With the current crisis of loneliness and lack of friendships in today's culture, this 90-day devotional offers both lived perspective and attainable promise for how to find community and friends.
Compiled by beloved author, Kristen Strong, who offers her two decades of experience as a constantly relocating military spouse and one decade as a settled civilian to address head on the rising pain point facing women today in startling an acute loneliness and isolation due to a lack of friends.
Praying Through Loneliness is a compilation of stories from many women in all stages of life written to let you know that you
Not alone in your sadness, frustration, or sense of rejectionNot alone when you feel jealous of other women's friendshipsNot alone in the pain of a friendship breakupNot alone when you want to give up trying to connect againNot alone in your need to know that the Lord sees you in your loneliness, has a purpose for you during it, and won't abandon you as you walk through it
Praying Through Loneliness doesn't skip over the sadness and hardship loneliness brings. It doesn't offer trite advice or give spiritual formulas to shortcut the slow work of friendship. Instead, it offers an empathetic and hopeful accompaniment in the dark night you are walking through.

What a great devotional. I have struggled with anxiety and depression most of my life. I wish I would have read this book sooner. This devotional is written by multiple women of various ages and experiences, sharing pieces of their stories in dealing with loneliness, the Scriptures that brought them comfort, and how they were able to connect with the Lord, or experience hope and peace through it all. Highly recommend.
This book first popped up in my feed because I am a huge fan of Holley Gerth. I have read many of her books and I love her inspiration and encouragement!
She posted about meeting with a group of ladies for the launch of an upcoming devotion book. She mentioned that as these ladies gathered, they each shared how they have struggled with loneliness at different points in their lives. These were well know ladies, and each one had dealt with this, not realizing that so many of their fiends and acquaintances struggled in the same way.
Each chapter of Praying Through Loneliness is like sitting each day with a friend for a daily dose of encouragement and inspiration. Literally. Each devotion is short and sweet, but it is impactful. Each of the 90 devotions were written by 50 different ladies, many you will know, some that might be new. Each one is charming!
No matter your season of life, there has been or there will be a time that you will deal with loneliness. Sometimes it is a geographical loneliness upon moving to a new place. Sometimes it is emotional in that you do not feel connected to the people around you. No matter what, we can find hope and truth in that Jesus never leaves us and that we are never truly alone.
A delightful devotion book! A perfect gift for a friend this Christmas season!
Kristen Strong shares 90 devotions in this new devotional Praying Through Loneliness. It is a collection of essays from women who have all experienced loneliness. Some of the women's names are familiar and others aren't but these women, in various stages of life, share their emotions, thoughts, and hard-earned wisdom so that others can benefit from what they've learned. These women of different ages and different life experiences successfully minister to so many individual needs!
Strong uses a pleasing format for her compilation. Each selection begins with scripture, followed by a moving message, a prayer, and a meaningful thought to ponder. These devotions may be short, but they're packed with solace and comfort!
Praying Through Loneliness isn't a "feel-good book" that glosses over hardships, but IT IS a book that will help women feel better! It's a wonderful resource for personal use and it would also be the perfect gift for people that you know are struggling.
I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher via FrontGate Blogger Network. There was no obligation for a positive review.
Devotionals are a daily part of my life. I am always looking for ones that pertain to me and life. Praying through Loneliness by Kristen Strong is the latest Devotional book that I have read.
WOW, this is a very powerful and much needed Devotional Book. There are many stages of Loneliness and Women experience Loneliness for many different reasons. I really LOVE that the author explains that in this Devotional. The Layout of the Devotional is very easy to follow. Each day has a Scripture, a story that goes along with the Scripture, a Message of Hope and a Prayer of Encouragement. I really LOVE how the author shows the reader through the Daily Devotionals, that the feeling of Loneliness is strong, but God's LOVE for us is stronger. We are truly never alone with the Lord surrounding us and comforting us. I HIGHLY recommend this Devotional to anyone who needs encouragement in LIFE and those that enjoy Devotionals. GREAT BOOK!
Published by W Publishing Group, an imprint of Thomas Nelson, which is a subsidiary of HarperCollins and part of the HarperCollins Christian Publishing division. The compiler, Kristen Strong, is known for her works that offer encouragement and hope, particularly for women. While she is especially known for Girl Meets Change, this book is a departure for Strong. She invited a group of women authors to share anecdotes on the theme of how an experience of loneliness led to a powerful encounter with their Christian faith. Each passage opens with a verse from the Bible, followed by the story and ending with a prayer. The exact Bible quote is often provided. The book includes short biographies of the contributors and is useful for those experiencing deep feelings of isolation and loneliness in these chaotic times.
Loneliness is not just for singles. This helpful new devotional explores the many nuances of loneliness to help you gain insight and encouragement. Some of the themes are loneliness in friendship losses, loneliness in changing seasons of life, and loneliness in sickness. As one who has dealt with loneliness almost all of my life, I found this book to be full of refreshing perspectives. The devotions are just two pages long, which is convenient for busy people (aren’t we all?). I enjoyed the different voices and stories of many writers. I particularly enjoyed the one-sentence takeaway at the end of each devotion. The prayers are uplifting too.
Pretty decent devotional! The stories were short and engaging, however this covered a lot of different types of loneliness but one theme that continued to appear was being lonely as a military wife. I can’t relate to this, and not all days’ devotions were about this, but a lot were. A lot of the prayers were also really specific- I wish this were more general on the topic of loneliness!
So I received this book as a giveaway from Goodreads, with that being said…I thought it was a very good devotional with great input from a varying area of topics and women’s experiences on how they through the messaging of the Bible found ways to get beyond loneliness and heartbreak. Very encouraging to read and at times I wanted to read more than one a day. Great read and thank you!
