4.25⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So good! This one is a little more mature than her other devotionals, but it’s still super good. I truly love Sadie’s books! She is so wise and faithful!!
she reuses some illustrations across her books, so some of it appeared repetitive to me. other than that, great applications and life lessons! this devotional book helped me tremendously in getting back into consistent daily devotions🤗 I've been loving Sadie's books and will continue to read her works.
So much truth! Some days left me longing for more, but overall enjoyed how Sadie makes everything so relatable. And loved the set days to rest and reflect with song suggestions 😙
Ugh, I really wanted to love this devotional. I have loved almost all of Sadie's books so I was super excited about this one. But I just didn't feel the heart in it. I know it's hard to cram a deep, meaningful daily devotion into less than two pages, and then make 50 of them and make them all coincide with each other, but this felt more like a coffee table book than a real devotional. Cute photography and aesthetic, trendy graphic design, but no depth. I suppose for a newer Christian, this could be a great start (and there's nothing wrong with that!), but as someone who is years into my faith journey, I just was hoping for more than surface level content. I did get several weeks into it but I felt like I should move on to something more meaningful instead of hoping this would get better. :(
The book is: 🎨 Visually stunning with desert-inspired colors 📘 Sturdy hardcover construction ✍️ Written at an accessible level 📅 Organized in weekly segments
👍 Things That Stand Out: 📱 Modern approach to biblical wisdom 💁♀️ Relatable writing style ⏱️ Bite-sized sections for busy readers 🤔 Thoughtful reflection prompts
🎯 Who Is This For? 👩🎓 Students 👩 Young adults/mothers 🔍 Anyone seeking guidance (religious or not) 🎁 Perfect as a gift
💭 A Non-Religious Perspective: As someone who doesn't practice Christianity, I found:
📚 Universal life advice embedded in religious context 🤝 Welcoming, friendly tone 💡 Practical self-reflection exercises 🌟 Quality content regardless of beliefs
⚖️ Considerations: ✝️ Heavy Christian focus (as expected) 📖 Not meant for deep theological study 📅 Best consumed gradually, not all at once
⭐ Final Verdict 4 out of 5 stars!
While deeply rooted in Christianity, this book offers:
🎯 Guidance for life decisions 💭 Thoughtful self-reflection 📝 Well-organized daily readings
🔍 Best Used As: 🌅 Morning reflection ☕ Coffee table companion 🎁 Thoughtful gift for someone exploring faith
Even as a non-religious person, I can appreciate the book's quality, thoughtfulness, and potential value for its intended audience.
Would this book convert me? No. But can I recognize its value for those seeking faith-based guidance? Absolutely! 📚✨
I’m so behind! I finished this book last month and totally forgot to review it! Now that this is out of the way, let’s get to it.
I’ve read a lot of Sadie books, those I will reread and review here. This was a difficult book to review. It wasn’t knock my socks off good. But it wasn’t bad. This book is 10 weeks and takes you through books of the Bible, and it’s full of practical wisdom for everyday life. It’s full of gorgeous photos, prayers and worship songs (which I loved!). This book is packed with hope and wisdom that sticks with you.
That being said, I’m not sure if this is a favorite Sadie book. Some days seemed deep and profound, while others just didn’t seem to have heart behind it. I mean, it has to be hard to write something meaningful in less than two pages, and then make 50 of them. But it is a great read, and I would suggest you read it.
As always, my review is my own opinion and thoughts. This review will be shared to my Instagram @what_emm_reads shortly.
I love how God connected several of the days of this devotional to line up with what I needed to hear or what I was going through in life. Sadie feels like a great friend making biblical truths simple. The format of the devotional was different and I loved it, especially the song suggestions and prayer along with her thoughts of course. The main thing that kept me from giving it five stars is that some of the devotionals felt surface level or involved topics I couldn't relate to such as motherhood but it's good to have simple truths too. I would recommend this to a friend going through a transition season like I was (and still feel like I am) to bring you hope and something good to meditate on. But even if you just want encouragement, this feels like a friend talking at a coffee shop (:
Phenomonal. Not only is this devotional book beautiful but it is jam packed with incredibly insightful little nuggets of hope and wisdom that stick with you. I can't count how many times I've quoted this book and referneced the bible stories I've been reminded of while speaking to friends and family these past couple of months. For me, this book has been pivotal in my own development. I'll keep it displayed in our living area for years to come.
This devotional was very encouraging and easy to read daily. I liked that the topics varied and that it wasn’t dated on the pages so you could theoretically read through it at any pace, over and over again. I give it 4 stars only because the layout of the pages did not flow well in my opinion. There were text boxes and photos all over the pages which disrupted my reading and made it hard to stay focused on the main point she was making.
It was just ok to me. Tried to find a devotional geared towards women. I really liked the aesthetic of the book (hardback, layout of the pages, pretty pictures) and I liked how it had song suggestions at the end of every week. I just felt like each day's devotional was too short and didn't hold a lot of weight. They felt too simple and it had more of a memoir feel to it about the author and random life experiences she has had. I think younger moms might get more out of this than I did.
Really enjoyed this little book. Her writing has matured and I like how she stuck with her topic of wisdom throughout. Nice. I also like that this book is guiding you, not preaching at you. It’s not soooo heavy that non Christian readers get overwhelmed and at the same time, it is faith based. I think this book is a good read for anyone wanting to start the day off reading something positive.
What a wonderful devotional! It takes the reader through books of the Bible that are filled with practical wisdom for everyday life. It’s filled with gorgeous photos, heartfelt prayers, and worship songs to listen to as you work your way through the Scriptures. Wonderful! I’ve already bought one for a gift.
I really enjoyed this devotion by Sadie. She presented some new insight in how to really get closer to God. She did tell some of the same stories that I’ve read in past books or heard in her teachings but still they are truths and stories that need to be reread to really let the word and truth sink into us.
This book was SO good and timely for anyone entering a new season of life. Sadie Robertson Huff writes with intense wisdom on discerning God’s voice on the brink of monumental decisions in our life. As a recent college graduate, this book helped me to determine and discover God’s plans and purposes for me next year! I would read this again one day!
Practical pieces of wisdom and advice for daily living that were still deep & profound. Many illustrations and analogies were used throughout the devotional, and this kept it engaging.
Enjoyed how the book was set up in a 10 week devotional format with daily reflections & prayers, as well as an additional day for reflecting back on the week as a whole.
I got this book for Christmas and read a little each day during my quiet time. While it felt disjointed at different points, I got a lot of encouragement out of it that stuck with me! This one is great if you want daily wisdom and ways to work through a transition period.
A very beautiful book designed to have daily, short devos on simple topics. It was very good! I’d say, it’s not super profound topics or anything. But it was done well & the topics shared are still good & inspiring.
Did not expect these simple devotionals to challenge me so much! Each week/day revolved around basic tenants of faith, but were written practically and powerfully. Great for busy seasons of life, or when you’re feeling stagnant and need encouragement in the small things!
Great devotional! Just didn’t connect to this one as much as I have some of Sadie’s other books! Still some great advice and great scripture references!
