I’ve seen her. I’ve watched her. But…I can’t allow myself to have her.My job as the owner of an elite security company for celebrities and athletes alike means that I don’t have a problem putting myself in harm’s way to protect my clients. But I do have a problem when it’s Lauren who’s caught in the crossfire. Literally. I need to protect her. I need to keep her safe. I just… Can’t let my heart get involved.
*This is Pascal and Lauren’s story and falls between Changed and Scored.
USA Today bestselling author, Elise Faber, loves chocolate, Star Wars, and hockey (the order depending on the day and how well her team—the Sharks!—are playing). She and her husband also play as much hockey as they can squeeze into their schedules, so much so that their typical date night is spent on the ice. Elise changes her hair color more often than some people change their socks, loves sparkly things, and is the mom to two exuberant boys. She lives in Northern California. Connect with her in her Facebook group, the Fabinators or email her at elise@elisefaber.com.
Pascal owns a security company and through his contract with Gold hockey, he has met Lauren and her son Matteo. The heat he feels for her only grows the more he sees her. What happens when someone from Pascal's past steps out of the shadows? Will Pascal face back into them or step completely into the light? I love the characters Elise creates as they are down to earth and full of character. Can't wait for the next book
Pascal's been watching Lauren from the shadows, her silent and unseen protector. She has no idea how intensely he feels for her, but she's about to find out...
I LOVE Lauren, Pascal and Matteo! Though this is a novella, it reads like a full length novel, with complete characterizations and serious chemistry between Pascal and Lauren. I wanted to hug the poor guy for thinking he wasn't good enough for her, thank God Lauren was determined to show him just how worthy he really was. Because this is about Lauren and Pascal, it's hockey light, but there are cameos, so have no fear, your favorite team shows up here and there. I'm not sure whose story is next in the Gold Hockey world, but I can't wait now!

Golden is a novella set in the Gold Hockey series, between books nineteen and twenty. Pascal has been watching Lauren and her boy since the first time he spotted her, but while she’s a ray of sunshine, he lives in the shadows. When danger from his past approaches Lauren, will Pascal step up and claim Lauren for his own, or will he slip farther into the shadows to save her?
For this being just a novella, there’s still so much emotion in this story. Pascal and Lauren were so sweet together, full of love and life and even passion for one another. They both needed to learn how to let go of the past so that they could move forward, but I loved how they did that in different ways. Lauren was so compassionate and understanding. I loved her struggle to let her son be a kid without completely smothering him due to everything he’s already been through. Pascal was a fierce defender, willing to give up or do anything to keep those he loved safe. I thought they made a really great couple! This novella was much lighter on the hockey, but some of our favorite Gold players were present and I thought this story fit in nicely with the rest of the series. Loved reading it!
Lauren is and extended part of Gold Family Hockey with and adorable little boy Mateo who loves 🏒 he and Laren lost his Dad to cancer. Pascal runs security for the Gold franchise and stalks Lauren in his free time he just wants her and her son safe he knows tradgy too after loosing his wife he's afraid to move forward after such a loss and he worries constantly about his past and how it could effect people he cares about. I liked this book its kind of a side book that is part of the Gold Hockey world but still separate the Romance between Pascal and Lauren moved a little fast but this is a short read the only thing that I wanted more of was Pascal you kinda get the idea he was a soldier but that's it maybe he was CIA I just wanted more there but the book is still good.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
5 Star Review Golden (Gold Hockey Novella) by Elise Faber
Golden was a wonderful addition to the Gold Hockey series. This is single mum, Lauren and security expert Pascal’s story and it was one that left me with a smile on my face. This may have been a novella, but Ms. Faber packed a lot into the story.
When danger rears its head. Pascal will have to do what is required to keep Lauren and her son Matteo, safe. Caring for them brings light into his darkness and I loved that.
This was a fast paced story that drew me in and held me captive from the first to the last chapter. Well written with characters who you cannot help but be drawn too.
This is Pascal and Lauren’s story. Pascal is the owner of an elite security company for celebrities and athletes, while Lauren is a single mom to her son, and is making the best of the hand she has been given. When Lauren is caught in the crossfire, Pascal will do whatever he must to keep her and her son safe and protected. This is a good story which is an easy and quick read, with intrigue, challenges, humor, action, romance, obsession, and love, which leads to an enjoyable, heartfelt, and spicy page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
A sweet short story that sees two people who help one another heal from the pain and heartache of losing a loved one. Ms. Faber gives us a single mom, alpha male romance that is a joy to read. Pascal is obsessed with ensuring that Lauren, Matteo's single mom, is safe. His past now has him focused on the safety of people in his life. The only thing is that this is a front to what and how he feels. Lauren is trying to move on after the death of her husband but is finding it difficult. Will she be able to open her heart to love again? Can Pascal admit to her and himself how he feels about her and her son? The storyline is well-written and such a joy to read.
Much anticipated, touching short novella set in the Gold hockey series!
We’ve been waiting for Lauren’s story…she and her son, Matteo, have been through a lot. As has Pascal.
While we don’t learn much about his past in the beginning, it is soon apparent that he too has had heartache…and also, unfortunately, a past that comes back to interfere.
Although this is a short story, there’s a lot packed into it! Delighted that Lauren’s story has been told and, as always, great to catch up on some of the other familiar Gold players and staff!
This quick and heartfelt story is the perfect addition to the Gold family. Lauren is a single mom who is trying her best to get on with her life. The Gold has accepted her into their fold and with it comes security in the form of a beautiful, flowed man, who is slightly obsessed with her and her son.
Pascal knows to stay away from her and her boy, but they’ve captured this heart from the moment he laid his eyes on them. His past is coming back trying to drag him under, but with her and her son on the line, he will stop at nothing to protect what is his.
Pascal's story did not disappoint at all. I loved the relationship he had with Lauren, and everything played out.
I will say that one part of the story had me wondering what was going on, and would love to have a better backstory on Pascal. But that's just me.
Loved how these two came together, built their relationship, and grew together. Of course I also adored getting to see the Gold Hockey team, and am wondering which player the other agent had her eye on.
Golden was a quick easy read, and as with every Gold book, I loved it so.
This novella was a long time coming! Dear, sweet Lauren and her son, Matteo are featured. She is a widow and her life evolves around her son. He is a security guru. He watches over her from the shadows with an intensity that is everything. Their lightness and love brings him out of the darkness and into the light. Together they form a new family. 𝗚𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗘𝗡 was short, sweet and intense. A must read for fans of Elise’s books. TBR and Enjoy!
I’ve been waiting for this story! Lauren, Matteo and Pascal were great together! Lauren is a single mother to Matteo and Pascal has a security business. He is going to do everything in his power to keep them protected. He’s crazy about Lauren but doesn’t think he deserves her and Matteo. Laurels going to make him believe in them and make a family together. I loved Golden! It is a great addition to the Gold Hockey series!
Pascal owns an elite company of specialized security for athletes and celebrities. He has been in the shadows watching over Lauren and her son Matteo vowing to keep them safe. Lauren lost her husband to cancer and her whole world revolves around her son.
Pascal has had his own loss and heartache and when his past comes back and threatens Lauren he steps in.
Golden is a quick, easy to enjoy side story related to the Gold Hockey team. Pascal is a protector and has been watching Lauren and her son Matteo from the shadows but what he doesn’t expect or really want is to be so drawn to her. However, once he crosses the line and he is in her sights all bets are off. They have both suffered the loss of a spouse and bond over the pain of the loss but they also find happiness together and that was well overdue.
Loved Pascal, Lauren, and Matteo, so glad they got a story!! You've seen these characters in other Gold books and enjoy them, so I was very happy they got their own little short story. There is chemistry, steam, and they are perfect together, their own little family. Love the grumpy, cinnamon roll heroes. It's short, but so good!
I received an ARC of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Pascal’s story is novella length and reveals so much of this enigmatic character and answers so many questions. Lauren and her son are a perfect match for Pascal and provide a level of redemption and healing for him that was just lovely! I would have rated this as a 5 star read if had been longer. It was lovely to get a brief “visit” with some of the Gold “family” and I happily and voluntarily reviewed this book.
This was a short story but very good. Pascal, head of security for the gold, is in love with Lauren, but thinks he doesn't deserve her. He has bad things from his past that he thinks could harm her. Things have a strange way of working out. There is a lot of emotion in this story. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Pascal is stalking Lauren and Matteo, her son. He's in security and keeps telling himself he's keeping her safe, but really he's attracted to her and is frightened that something might happen to her. He doesn't think he deserves her, she's attracted to him too, it's been a while since she lost her husband and the time is right, and Matteo likes him.
I love that Pascal gets his HEA. Lauren and Pascal were amazing together and I loved the relationship that he built with her son Matteo. These two were perfect for each other as they both were able to heal, let go of the past and move forward. This short story is emotional, sexing and intriguing. I loved it!!
Golden, a Gold Hockey series novella, takes place between Changed and Scored and follows Pascal and Lauren. Pascal owns a security company that has been secretly watching over Lauren and her son, Matteo. While Lauren is considered to be a ray of sunshine, Pascal is the darkness, but when something from Lauren’s past comes back, will Pascal be there to help her?
I love catching up with The Gold Hockey Team and this novella was just what I needed. This is single mum Lauren and security expert Pascal’s entertaining story. Ms Faber knows what her fans love and even her novellas pack a mighty punch. I was captivated from the first page to the last line and I was kept on the edge of my seat as I watched Pascal do what was needed to keep Lauren and her son Matteo safe. But this isn’t just about keeping them safe this is about them bringing light into his dark work. A great addition to the series and I can’t wait for my next catch up with The Gold.
A heartwarming quick read. It will completely consume you from the beginning as it pulls at the heartstrings. It will take you through an emotional ride. I loved the characters, the connection and the flying sparks. It’s a great addition to the series.
I really enjoyed this book. It is the story of Pascal and Lauren. Pascal is so broken, that he believes that he cannot be with anyone because of his past. That is until Lauren gets involved. He must keep her safe from his past, but falling for her is not in the cards, or is it? Such a great book.
Man in the shadows, always watching, keeping them safe and totally obsessed. Both have past to navigate. Fun loving with the Gold hockey family.A well written novella. Ties up some loose ends.
He watches her and the team from the shadows, thinking he doesn’t deserve happiness. She is overcoming the death of her husband. They find each other and she makes him feel worthy
For someone who spends his time in the shadows, pascal is ready for some light. We jump into a quick read and follow Pascal and Lauren. Great read and happily ever after. Highly recommend!
