During a meeting with the Western nobles Euphy is confronted with an unexpected and rather harsh reality in how she and her beloved Anis are seen by the nobility of the west. It confront her with some unfortunate reality of what it means to be a spirit covenant. Anis' reaction to the situation doesn't make things easier. Both their humanity and the kingdom is at stake.
Volume 8 is written for the most part from Euphy's point of view, and as expected comes with good world building and character development. It is always good when the downsides of something are not just words on paper and that change is not easy even if the people directing said change are physically powerful. Having said that, similarly expected are the at times for me a bit too dramatic scenes, and this volume contains a lot of talking with no action.
I suspect it might be a bit boring for some. For me though it was an entertaining read and solid addition to the series with some necessary focus on Euphy.
