DNF at 16% - No star rating since I did not read at least half the book. This, unfortunately was not for me. I'm not sure if it was the writing or the plot or a combination of both but I just was not vibing with this. Below I will share some of the things that I struggled with which may contain spoilers so if you are not interested in that, stop here.

Thank you to the author & trulyyourspr for sending me an eARC. I'm sorry this didn't work out for me!

The first 10% of this was time jump after time jump of the FMC continuously being self-destructive and just all around terrible. It felt jarring and unnecessary. Within the first 15%, there is not a drop of world-building. Gabriel is an Archangel and his brother Lucifer is the devil but also just seems like a regular dude and there's no explanation of where we are or why the devil is just walking around or if there are other angels or creatures in this place? or where we are?

At one point the FMC finally goes to therapy and during her 5th session her male therapist makes sexual innuendos and inappropriately touches her - because that's what therapists do, right? During said therapy session, someone knocks on the door to let the therapist know lunch is here. Like, what? No one is knocking on a closed door of a therapy session unless the building is on fire or something.

I am assuming the "enemies to lovers" situation that's being marketed is between Lucifer & Catalina. And obviously I don't know how their relationship progresses but in what I did read, they aren't actual enemies (he's her best friends brother) and there's a sick/comfort moment around the 15% mark which did nothing for me because there was nothing between these characters yet for me to care.

Obviously, 16% isn't much and maybe it does get better but this did not grab me in enough to make me want to continue.

ARC REVIEW (RELEASES On JUNE 6)
LEAD US TO TEMPTATION ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

"I wish I could stand here and say that I love your daughter but I can't, because what I feel for Catalina goes beyond love. If she asked me to, I would go to war for her, I would level cities and crumble mountains if she wanted me to. But I would also give up everything just to have her."

Thank you for the opportunity to read this eArc and share my review!!

This book single-handedly brought back my Lucifer obsession ( if you have seen the tv show you know) Who doesn’t love the devil ?
With this book just when I thought the book was going a way , it turned out into something else. All the who did this to you? moments got me fr fr . The endingggg no comment… I’m already sat for the next book!!!

I ate this book up! It’s been a minute since I read dark romance and this did not disappoint. Lucifer and Catalina were so good for each other! I love the “touch her and die” and “who did this to you” vibes. Catalina was really bad ass, but still really sexy at the same time. She was able to overcome so many things and I’m glad that Lucifer was able to help her and was there for her at every turn. I also love the found family Catalina had with Lucifer and Gabriel. All of the characters were really well done! The world building was so good! I can’t wait for the next book to come out! Hopefully it’s coming soon! 🤞🏻I give this book 4.5 stars!

Thank you Alana Powers for allowing be to be part of your ARC team! I’m looking forward to seeing what you have coming in the future!

Unfortunately, this was absolutely not it. Even a tiny bit of research would have helped the book a lot. The lack of editing made the book unbearable to read for me.
Maybe someday it will get edited, I might give it another shot then.

Spice- 1.5 🌶️

💌 This is a romantasy novel and I loved it.

🔥 Lucifer, The King of Hell and he is hot and I can sense his voice gonna be so powerful yet sexy 😏
💜 Catalina, as wilde as her name Cat but the way she hides her everything behind her drinking habits and hooking thing, this made me really sad. But she was fiery and bold. DON'T MESS WITH HER

💌 The author has skillfully written every pointer and how beautifully the story unfurled layer by layer. It was literally a journey.

💌You realise how bad things can make a person from feeling a pain to don't feel anything at all.. I felt bad while I was reading about Catalina's past. It was heart wrenching.

🏠 Gabriel, her friend is a really guardian angel. He is so so so good. Everyone should at least have a single friend like him. He always cared for her and treated her like a little sis.. He called his brother Lucifer for a task.

💟 Lucifer met Cat and thought of her as a dumb, egoistic girl but a single incident changed the dynamics of the relationship. (HIT ME 😓).
How purely their relationship took a turn  from enemies to lovers.. Their confession.. thank you Forseti (💜).

💖 How Lucifer and Cat's story took a magical turn with flames and love all around, it was written skillfully. I can't have words to express my love for this.

At a point I want to kick Gabriel really badly and why ( FOR THAT READ THE BOOK)

🤭 Don't lay your hands and eyes on Catalina, Lucifer will cut down the fingers and shove them through the throat.. He said this but he can do it really well... (Dare to try 😏😏)

When I read the description of the book. I had a feeling I would love the book. And I was right I really did. I’m really interested in religions. And how people see them. So that was a fun aspect for me. And mainly that a lott of different one are used in here. That all the gods and demgod and angels are a part of the world. I’m really curious to see what is gonna happen in book 2.

Spice: 1.5/5

While not the primary focus of it, this book offers a refreshing twist on Lucifer’s story, steering clear of the usual tropes and offering a much more complex take on his character, which I really enjoyed. In addition, Catalina’s journey was another highlight; though I struggled with her at first, her gradual opening up to Lucifer revealed a depth to her character that I came to appreciate. Their dynamic was compelling, especially Lucifer’s tough love, which, while harsh, was exactly what she needed to pull herself out of the darkness. Gabriel, on the other hand, had moments of true friendship, but his overbearing protectiveness of Catalina and overall unclear motivations were frustrating at times. Despite some of the character dynamics feeling a bit off, the tension in the plot kept me hooked, especially with the intriguing cliffhanger. While the world-threatening stakes hinted at in the blurb didn’t fully materialize here, I’m looking forward to seeing where the next book takes the story.

Tropes Include:
- Forced Proximity
- Enemies to Lovers
- Touch Her and 💀
- Found Family

this book scratched a nice little spot in my brain. 🫶🏼😂
I would give 4.5 ⭐️ if Goodreads allowed it. I will say the time jumps in the beginning were not my favorite and they did kinda feel blah to me. But as the book continued there was more detail where it mattered. So in the end it made sense. We know what Cat was doing and honestly I rather see her and Lucifer interact than read through the time jumps so it makes sense.
.
.
Catalina: The last few books I read the FMC was just not it. They were always helpless & lost in their trauma/abuse. It was so refreshing to read about a FMC who really struggled and wanted to do better not for anyone else but for herself!
.
.
Lucifer ?! 🤤🫶🏼 I would make a deal with this devil any day of the week. The story gives a good twist on a tale and makes you really able to relate and FEEL for the MMC.
.
.
All in all, the story was captivating. Good world building and background on all involved. Some of the twist the book took 😮‍💨
As someone who is new to Romantasy it was nice to read a book with all the elements you want to read without a complicated magic system.
Highly recommend
& Cannot wait for book 2 🫶🏼🫶🏼

“You are a shining star in a world that is plagued with nothing but darkness.” ✨

Catalina is on a downward spiral as she tries to make her life her own and free herself from her past. Her best friend Gabriel, who is an ArchAngel, has tried to help her but was futile in his endeavors. He decides calling his brother Lucifer as a reinforcement, will be the saving grace that will save Catalina from herself.

Catalina and Lucifer clash in the beginning, but overtime, start to let walls come down and secrets begin to unravel. However, an unexpected threat starts to develop and more secrets are unveiled, their relationships will be tested as time is not on their side.

This book was a slow burn, but was a wonderful jump into dark fantasy and did not disappoint! I liked the dual POV, and really getting to know the characters and their backstory. The plot twists kept me guessing and wanting more! 🖤

*make sure to read the trigger warnings as tough topics are covered.

A solid three stars for being a decent one time read to pass the time. There were a lot of typos, I was able to ignore them for the most part but they were a bit distracting.

I think if you like a new take on classic characters (Gabriel and Lucifer) and slow burn books this is a great choice for you.

The storyline is decent with some inconsistent things here and there but you just have to suspend your belief.

My only con with this book is that it is very slow with little world building at the beginning that made it hard for me to care about Catalina and her destructive tendencies.

I do not think this is a “love child of supernatural and Lucifer” as it was marketed to me but it was an okay read for a cold day.

Lead Us To Temptation
By Alana Powers
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This book was good. The premise and plot immediately made me want to dive in.

I was a little disappointed in the sluggish start. It felt a little choppy and disjointed.

The romance between Catalina and Lucifer wasn’t really spicy, and I expected it to be.

The banter between Lucifer and Gabriel kept me going. I laughed out loud.

The book was plot heavy and no real deep character development or world building.

Overall, it was good.

Thank you Alana Powers and Bookworm Books PR for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

“How can we truly know good in this world if there is no evil?”

Lead Us to Temptation is a slow-burn story of love, loyalty, healing and friendships. It started a bit repetitive, but it slowly changed when Lucifer entered the scene. Catalina was frustrating at first, fully on a self-destructive path, but she opened up and found comfort in someone as broken as Lucifer.

There’s so much brother drama (no love triangle though), and it’s more of a power game than anything else. Also, I despise her mother. Like full on hate. Just had to say it.

Another issue with the book, was the grammar but, can’t wait to see what happens next😳

Still here? Here we go…

STORY:4

SPICE:3
OVERALL:4

TROPES:
ENEMIES/LOVERS
MORALLY GREY MMC
MULTIPLE POV
FOUND FAMILY
TOUCH HER AND ☠️
SLOOOOW BURN
FORCED PROXIMITY

TRIGGERS:

RELIGIOUS TRAUMA
UNALIVING
CHILD ABUSE
SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Now that we covered the bases, let’s get into it.

In this book, we get the story of Catalina, Gabriel Lucifer and Michael. Do a few of those names sound familiar? Well, they should. You see, this story has three archangels in it. Catalina, who is our FMC has a wonderful friendship with Gabriel Lucifer, then pops into the story, but I’m not here to tell you why. Wondering why I won’t tell you? Simple. I don’t give spoilers.

As the story progresses, Catalina and Lucifer do have a relationship of sorts. I am here to tell you if you’re looking for instant gratification in the spice category you are not gonna get it. What you do get is the love story of Lucifer and Catalina.

There’s a whole lotta drama and violence and some self-destruction that takes place from beginning, middle to end. But what I will say is Catalina becomes a very strong FMC, but she hast to go through a lot of trials to get there.

As someone who grew up with going to privateschool, this was a little harder to read and to bond with. However, I did end up crying on a couple of parts. So if I can get to that point, I feel that just about anybody can. Lucifer has redeeming qualities. I repeat Lucifer has redeeming qualities. This is why it was a struggle for me.

If you’re looking for a different read, if you’re looking for something to change up your pallet or if this is right up your alley, then give this book a try.

I received an advance copy for free provided by Truly Yours, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Lead us to Temptation is not what I was expecting at all! It is a story that truly pulled me in from start to end.

I went into this book completely blind, and boy I was not disappointed. I thought that I was going to start off by just reading a few pages each night from receiving it. Let me tell you, I ended up finishing this book in a span of 2 days. I could NOT put this down. If it wasn’t for my daily tasks that needed to be completed, it probably would’ve been read in a day. I’m sure this book could’ve been completed in a day!

This story was just riveting! We had the elements of abuse, whether it’d be mental, physical, and emotional. We have so many things happening to our main FMC that many of us can relate to.

We follow and our now introduce to our main FMC, Catalina. She is living with her friend Gabriel, one of our MMC. Catalina is a strong FMC, but she has also been through a lot and continues to go through a lot mentally, emotionally, and physically. Gabriel, her friend helps her try overcome these obstacles in her life. Unfortunately, none of his help seems to be working. So he recruits the help of one his brothers, Lucifer (yep, you read that alright)! The Devil himself.

This is a slow burn read, and what we have as newfound family in all of it. We have a slow-burn romance brewing as well. I enjoy the magic that lingers and that they’re trying to solve in the mix of everything. I do enjoy the small biblical elements here and there, but this book is far from it.

When we get to the spice of this book, it is fairly tamed. I want to say that for it being dark I’ll give it a good 2/5. The romance and wanting is all there, but the spice level is definitely very minimal. When it happens, it definitely happens, but it’s not excessive. I definitely think that it fits the story perfectly. I do like the part where you see Lucifers side comes out without anything being held back. It also seems so natural between the two characters.

This is a great book, and it ended with me wishing book 2 was ready to read! I wanted to get to the continuation of the story!! I don’t want to give out any spoilers, but I’m excited to see where this goes!

4/5⭐️

The intro alone 🤌🏻 As a girl who grew up loving the dark things, I didn't know I needed a Lucifer story until I picked this up LMAO. I mean I did because I am who I am, but this DELIVERED.

I'm stacking quotes from here down, so keep scrolling if you don't want spoilers!

"This world was full of horrible people filled with even more horrible thoughts and agendas. This world was all about survival. Everyone was just trying to see the next day."

"I couldn't help but laugh. This tiny anger-filled thing still reads fairy tales."
RELATABLE!

"You're a violent little princess aren't you?"

"And if you don't release your hand from her waist it'll be your blood on the ground, not mine."

"You are a shining star in a world that is plagued with nothing but darkness."

"You are my sun, my moon, and all my stars, without you I am nothing but with you, I can do anything."

3.75🌟 (bc Goodreads doesn’t do those)
1.5 🌶️

This book was the first in the series and I throughly enjoyed it. I have to say it’s not a book I would typically pick up on my own (as I tend to stay away from adaptations of religious content) BUT I really did enjoy it.

Following Catalina and the gang was fun and heart felt. The banter was A+ between Lucifer and Gabriel (it made me laugh) and I’m really excited to see the dynamic in the next books.

Not super steamy in the romance category…a few scenes here and there, but it is plot heavy and lots of dialogue & plotting. I would also just warn that there is a lot of talk about being a woman in a cruel world, parental abuse and a few other subjects that might be touchy so just read the TW before.

If you’re into politics, religious adaptations, messy family drama, banter, and morally grey MCs READ THIS AND EAT IT UP!!! I read all 473 (I’m gonna give myself the 500 ;) in one day basically in one sitting so def couldn’t put it down!!!

Thank you so so much to Alana and Truly Yours PR for the ARC🩷🩷I enjoyed being a part of this experience :)

ARC Review: Lead Us To Temptation
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️

“Lead Us to Temptation” by Alana Powers is a thrilling tale exploring themes of temptation, redemption, and unlikely alliances. Catalina Alvarez, seeking freedom from her abusive and neglectful family, dives into a life of drugs, sex, and alcohol. Her best friend, Gabriel, an ArchAngel, enlists his brother Lucifer to intervene and bring her back to health. Initially disdainful, Lucifer uncovers Catalina’s troubled past, forming a deep connection with her.

The narrative, while unique with its mythological and angelic lore, sometimes loses focus. The anticipated romantic tension is slightly underplayed. I had hoped for a bit more spice. Pacing was a bit slow through the middle and the plot could be a bit more explicit. Ending on a cliffhanger, the story leaves readers eager for the sequel. It’s a compelling read about overcoming personal struggles and finding redemption and love through it all, deserving a solid 4 stars!

Thank you to @aphauthor and @trulyyours.pr for providing me with an ARC to review!

What an incredible read. Catalina has endured so much trauma. And though she is quick to anger, it is always justified and because she cares so deeply. She still has a kind heart despite everything that's been done to her. But she is still struggling, and that is leading her down a path that would have already killed her several times over if not for her best friend, the arch angel Gabriel. So Gabriel decides that desperate times call for desperate measures. Asking Lucifer himself to come help Catalina work through her turmoil. They are both hesitant to engage with one another, but soon they develop a bond that no one saw coming. And it could have consequences that shatter all the realms of creation.

I laughed, cried, screamed, giggled, shook with anger, jumped for joy, held my breath, needed a cold compress, and found myself feeling thirsty during and after reading this book.

First and foremost, thank you to Alana for the arc!

This is everything! An archangel and daughter of Cain romantasy? Slow burn with a stabby FMC? Relatable trauma? The caring and loving love interest?

I am sold. Catalina has been through it ever since she was born. And as she copes in very unhealthy ways. Gabriel has been her best friend for years to help her get on the right path. When things start to get worse, Gabriel brings in his brother, Lucifer, for help. That’s when things get better, and worse at the same time. Lots of truths come out that has you gripping the edge of your seat. And Catalina finally starts to understand who she is.

Now I don’t want to give away too much, but there are some diabolical archangel brothers who are trying to ruin things.

This was a 4.75 star read with a 2.5 chili pepper.

Cause that kitchen scene 🥵🥵

And that cliffhanger!! Can’t wait for the next one!

DNF @ 15%

This book had a solid amount of potential, but it doesn't read like a completed version. The amount of typos in the KU version (which is the same amount in the arc I received - thanks to Bookworm Books for the arc!) is startling. Randomly capitalized letters throughout a sentence, multiple times a page, it was so incredibly distracting. This book desperately needs another editor. I tried to push through, but there is zero world building in the beginning. We get the info that Gabriel has wings... and then it just moves on as if that were standard, yet no one else is mentioned as having wings. If it wasn't for the blurb, I would have been completely lost as to what was going on.
The book starts with time jump after time jump, and all we get is Catalina's destructive alcoholism, but again, no real building of the book aside from that.

No star rating since I didn't feel I made it far enough.

When I read this book was about Lucifer the king of hell I was like eh I don’t know about that, but after reading it, HOLY!!! I’d gladly get on my hands and knees for Lucifer. Catalina is one lucky girl to have him. The way Lucifer would literally do ANYTHING for this woman put me in a chokehold. Honestly, probably one of the most romantic men I’ve read. He’s so possessive that he destroys anything that’s in Catalina’s way. There wasn’t much spice but when there was OMG I was SHOCKED. Ugh that man in the bedroom… (instant drool) I wish so badly we could have seen more bedroom scenes because I already know that man could do some damage and I’m here for it. The drama, the plot, the other characters. Loved them all so so much. I can’t wait for book #2!

Thank you so much Alana for sending me your ARC. It was an amazing book and I’d gladly read it over and over again.

The moment I started Lead Us To Temptation, I couldn’t put it down. The story is captivating with twists and turns that keep you on your toes. Catalina…never wanted to shake and hug a character more. Her character growth through this was beautiful. I also really really enjoyed the religious aspect but making the characters the authors own. The dynamic between Lucifer and Gabriel I enjoyed the most, second to the main couple. Now while this story has little spice…I will tell you…the little we got was hot! Lucifer is that dark, morally grey character that dark romance girlies will love! The ending made me want the next part now! I can’t wait to see where this story goes.

Check trigger warnings before reading! There is a lot of trauma, mentions of abuse/child abuse and other triggering topics.

Poor Catalina has been through it!

4 stars!
I absolutely adored Lucifer and his whole persona of possessive and murderous for Catalina. Catalina is a strong FMC who learns with Lucifer’s help how to become stronger because of her experiences and fears. Because of her past she’s quick to react and feel but the more you learn about her the more you can understand and the more your heart will ache for her. The world building in this books was top tier and only makes me more eager for book two to come out. I was expecting this to honestly be a bit spicier but again this was only book one so I’m anticipating more in the next book because the angst and chemistry was off the charts. And Gabriel…. Ahhh Gabriel… I can’t disclose my feelings or why I feel this way you just need to read it and feel this with me. All in all I’m a happy reader!

ARC Review ✨️
☆Catalina and Lucifer☆
Catalina is on the fast track to self-destruction. Her archangel decides enough is enough and calls upon his brother Lucifer to help. They now have to figure out to navigate through their own demons and pull themselves on the right track.
This novel was everything and then some! Lucifer became a huge help when it came to her overcoming her past. They were honestly perfect for each other! Many aspects of this story were very relatable, especially when it came to coping with trauma in unhealthy ways. I think most of us have done that at least once. My favorite part is that I fell in love with the characters almost instantly. I love a book where the characters instantly grab my attention! This story easily captivates you, and is every dark romance lovers perfect read!! 🙌🖤😍

I believe this has become one of my favorite reads this year. I did not want to put it down while reading it. I laughed, I gasped out loud at twists, and I felt a majority of the emotions displayed within the pages. The tropes in this one hit the mark and I loved every moment of it.

Catalina and Lucifer's chemistry was perfect. I loved them interacting and reading how their relationship progressed throughout the story. I LOVED how Lucifer would do anything to protect Catalina. Also those pet names had me grinning the whole time! I'll be thinking about these two for some time.

Overall I enjoyed everything about this one. The found family aspect was everything and I'll be thinking about this book for a while. I can't wait to see what happens next!

THE ENDING???? GIVE ME BOOK 2 NOW!!

Started and finished in one sitting and could not put it down!

🥰 The chemistry between Lucifer and Catalina was chef’s kiss, it was so natural. The enemies to lover, closed proximity AAAA LOVED IT!

🥺 The friendship between Gabriel and Catalina is something I aspire to have. They’re always there for each other through ups and downs, Gabriel never gave up on her.

🫶🏻 Catalina’s character development was amazing! Not going to lie, the first part of the book she was such a brat and i did not like her (lol) but you find out everything she went through and everything made sense.

Overall, loved this book and excited for the upcoming books! Also, thank you for choosing me to have an ARC!

The content in this book is heavy and please make sure you read the triggers first because this book is emotional and talks about serious topics that might be hard for some to read about.

I really enjoyed how Alana Powers has woven different mythology into with biblical characters to create Lead Us To Temptation.

Lucifer and Catalina’s first interaction sent me into a fit of giggles ! She was not having a bar of him !

This book was just wow! I adored the writing and I definitely experienced a full array of emotions, there were moments I cried, moments I giggled, moments that were so steamy my face definitely went beet red, and my jaw hit the floor.

The relationships and friendships were so moving and authentic.
