INSPIRED BY A TRUE From an author who has sold 3 million books.
Ada Glick enjoys her role as resident veterinarian in her small Amish community. Even though true love hasn’t found her yet, Ada occupies her time by caring for her neighbors’ fur-babies after receiving informal training from a veterinarian in town.
When an injured dog shows up unexpectedly on her front porch, Ada tends to him with the care she’s always given to animals in need. During the time she cares for the dog, Ada becomes attached to her furry new friend. Ollie—as she names him—doesn’t have a collar and isn’t well enough to travel, however she knows she must take him to be checked for an identification chip. Is there an owner who is missing him?
Jeremiah Huyard has suffered a terrible loss. His family is grieving the deaths of two loved ones, a tragedy that has Jeremiah roiling in grief. When he sets eyes on the beautiful Ada at his relatives’ funerals, he is unexpectedly distracted, but he is also sure he will never see her again.
Can a misplaced dog and a miracle lead Ada and Jeremiah onto the path that God has laid out for them?

If you are looking for a quick read that is based on a true story then look no farther as this one is the perfect choice. The facts are interwoven with fiction flawlessly and has you turning pages quickly. I was fascinated to read of an Amish woman who was a veterinarian. I loved that my favorite matchmakers Lizzie and Esther make an appearance at the Peony Inn as they always make me smile. I found the story original and loved how a hurt dog is used to bring two people together. Inspiring and heartwarming this one leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Besides who can resist the adorable cover and the Amish recipes included. I received a complimentary copy from the author. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
A novella filled with heart. And with a puppy. Who licks Ava's nose just like my fur baby. Want a fast and satisfying quick read? Then this is perfect.
An Amish Healing by the inspiring Amish author, Beth Wiseman is just wonderful. The story is based on a true-life event that Bet reported on when she worked as a reporter.
A helpless dog lives through a Horrendous crash that kills his owners and their driver. Who would ever believe that this dog would bring together the very unlikely match Ada Glick, a self appointed Amish veterinary and Jeremiah Huyard, a young business man from another district. This match that was totally unlikely because of distance and circumstances, but God’s timing and plan is always just right.
All characters in the story are realistic and very likable.
The storyline is well developed and you will not want to stop reading.
I highly suggest ordering this very believable love story.
I was given an advance copy of this 5- book by the author, but I was not ask to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
An Amish Healing is a very good Amish fiction book. This book was inspired by a True Story.
Ada Click enjoys taking care of the neighborhood animals when they are hurt or sick. She has not found a meaningful relationship and just about had given up. When an dog shows up at Ada’s home after being injured, she cares for his wounds and becomes attached to him very quickly. She feels the only right thing to do is to try to locate the owner. The dog was checked for a chip. Jeremiah Huyard and his family have suffered a terrible loss. A special aunt and uncle of Jeremiah’s were killed in an automobile accident. He and his family will fly to the funeral for it is a long distance. Jeremiah meets Ada at the funeral and is instantly smitten by her but he lives many miles away. As they spend time together there seems to be a mutual attraction. They both agreed to hang out and just be friends but would that be enough? I highly recommend this book. It is a fast read.
I absolutely adored this novel. It has all the elements a well written novel should have, characters from past books, new ones who I loved, family dynamics and a familiar setting.
As an animal lover, I fell in love with the injured dog that shows up on the doorstep of Ada Glick, the local veterinarian in her small Amish community. Ada is caring, kind and one of my favorites in this book. I also grew fond of Jeremiah Huyard, a young man who is in town for a sad occasion but oddly enough the injured dog helps form a bond between the two of them.
The sweet story of Ada, Jeremiah, a miracle dog will warm your heart and put a huge smile on your face. If you like Amish or Christian fiction, you will want to read this one. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Overall, worth reading. Clean and no violence or witchcraft. Sorry to be picky, but as a former vet tech I found treating a badly injured dog with herbs far fetched, especially as anesthesia. If there really are herbs that can knock out a dog they are probably very dangerous and the dog would risk serious infection if treated as described. So I was glad when I read at the end that this was not a true story based on an Amish vet, but solely based on a dog surviving a crash. I have read other Beth Wiseman books and they were much better written. This was very predictable. At least the fictional Ada hired an educated vet tech at the end of the book. I will probably still read part 2 from the dog's POV.
Ada Glick is the resident veterinarian for her people in her community. She has a way with animals. Then a stray dog appears on her front porch badly hurt. She doctors it and helps it recover. Then she discovers that the dog was owned by some members of her community who recently died. She contacts the family about the dog even though she has become quite attached to it. Jeremiah travels to her community to retrieve the dog and some personal affects from his Aunt & Uncles home before they sell it. Will Jeremiah and Ada find a new life together or will the distance keep them apart?
4.5⭐ Excellent, quick read that has it's roots in a true story involving a dog. I really appreciated the depiction of Ada as a single, adult Amish woman with an interest in veterinary medicine. It was refreshing to read an Amish woman represented in this way. Lovely reminder with this book that while we may not understand why bad things have to happen, it is important to remember to trust God always.
I loved, loved, loved this story! Beth did an amazing job on this one. I couldn't stop reading it! When tragedy struck, family decisions made, brought love for two people that were each only children. The survival of a small dog, is what brought everything to fruition. Just a beautiful, touching, heartwarming story!! A must read for sure
This was such a short sweet book & I’m so glad I picked it up! The cover of the 2nd book drew me in, although I am neither a big dog fan or of reading Amish stories. But I really enjoyed this one. It was just so cute. If you’re looking for a short book with a cute story, this is definitely the book for you.
I loved this book. I could not put it down. It tugged at my heart strings with every chapter. If you love reading books about Amish life, you can’t beat reading books written by Beth Wiseman. I have enjoyed every book of hers that I have read. If you read this book this I know you will not regret it.
Beth Wiseman continues to be one of my favorite authors. Although this is a short story it is a heartwarming tale. It is filled with tragedy and romance. I read it in a few hours because I couldn't put it down. This is a must read!
*An Amish Healing* is one of the best love stories I've read in a long time. I recommend this novella for a young reader and for anybody who loves to read love stories.
This was a good book. It's a short story, but I found it interesting and really enjoyed reading it. I always look forward to reading Beth Wiseman books.
This is a wonderful story about Ada, a dog named Ollie, and Jeremiah. It deals with a lot of angst and how we need to remember that God has a plan for us.
I almost quit reading this right at the start when it talks of bottle-feeding baby chicks. Hahaha, whaaaat was that nonsense??? Anyway I read on and enjoyed the rest of the book.
