REVIEW
Another creatively rousing tale of our favorite Praetorian. The author fiendishly puts our hero through just about everything you can imagine while demanding of him the saving of the Germanic frontier for the Empire. A grueling test beset with setback after setback, but finally home is within his grasp and he can rejoin his family… oh, but wait…maybe not. Stay tuned my peeps and fellow readers, there’s more to come. 5 STARS

Rufius Rufinius, Praetorian of Rome, responds to a mysterious call for help from his brother from the German frontier of ancient Rome. Rufinius uncovers a misguided plot to roll back the Roman empire`s border to a natural border, a river. The erstwhile German allies are revealed to be anything but. Thanks to the timely intervention of his dog, he survives several attempts on his life and overcomes overwhelming odds to save the day. However, not all is well with his beloved wife whom he has left in safety at home in Rome.

Plot twists and unexpected developments made this historical novel an exciting read.

Fantastic start to my books of 2025. Welcome back, Rufinus. I've missed you!
Once again, Rufinus and his new "companion" are off on a journey into trouble and more trouble. Travelling out of Rome to the Northern Provinces on a personal journey, he becomes involved in an intriguing plan to remove the Romans from their border.
Simon, you have an amazing style of writing, and I can't wait for the next book.
