When I went back to that dingy motel room with the tempting stranger from the bar, I had no idea that he was my older brother’s best friend. And my soon-to-be roommate.

I’m Karli Brighton, reigning Queen of Epic Screw-Ups.
With twelve med school rejection letters burning a hole in my back pocket, I’m back in my quirky hometown for the summer. Grumpy and shame-faced, I’m not exactly in the mood to make new friends.

Having a wild one-night stand with the charming pretty boy I meet at a local bar to feel better about myself? Probably not the smartest idea.
But in the morning when I crawl out of his sweaty motel sheets, I take comfort in knowing that I’ll never see the gorgeous stranger again.

Until he strolls into my family home one hour later.
Suitcases in hand. Shock painted on his perfect face.
Gasoline, meet Dumpster Fire. Ka-boom!!

The mystery man is my brother’s best friend. He just moved to town to help out with my family’s medical clinic.
Dr. Walks-Around-In-His-Bath-Towel is off-limits to me. But now, he's staying in the bedroom across the hallway.
Just my luck.

Mason and I are at a stalemate.
I need a place to lick my wounds while I figure out my next move.
He needs a roof over his head while he builds a new life for himself.
We each have so much to lose. Especially if my brother discovers our secret.

So we both promise to keep our hands to ourselves.
Lines are drawn in the sand. House rules are signed in ink.
The bathroom schedule is sealed with a handshake.

This won’t be so bad. Right…? Maybe…?
We’ll see.

But then our ‘snarky banter’ leads to 'heated kisses’ leads to ‘more’…Yikes. We’re headed for disaster.

Wild Thing is a steamy, laugh-out-loud, small town, forced proximity romance. It is set in small town Iowa and is part of the Wild Westbrooks series.

I was eagerly waiting for this book. I've been a fan since the first book. I love these characters. Sadly, had it not been for these characters and being so invested, I'm not sure if I would even have finished this book. The story had such potential but it fell short. It lacked the fluidity that I've come to expect from this author. It felt rushed and disjointed. At times, I even had to look to make sure it was the correct author.

I appreciate this author and her hard work. I can't do what she does. While this book was a miss for me because it lacked the depth I was seeking and had come to expect, I still look forward to what comes next from this author.

I brought my brain into this book, which was why I hate read it to the very end. Why is she 24 and just finishing college? What is her plan? Come home for 3 months and then what? She made a big deal about how she was only going to be home for the summer but she has 0 plans outside of not going to med school, because she didn't get into any of them. She puts no effort into finding a job or figuring out what step two is. Mason also had his issues, but I found Karli to be overwhelmingly annoying. I've also never used "bestie" or "roomie" as much as either of them thought it.

Her brothers? Overprotective assholes who talk at her for her entire life and only stop when another man points it out to them. Is Mason really a best friend? You see 2 interactions outside of work between the man who's both the boss and brother of the only girl he's supposed to stay away from, but why stay away? You're basically strangers and he has no right to an opinion. And she really didn't spend any time with her own brothers to explain why they were so in her life, I mean she moved into her childhood home and didn't bother to tell any family members she was there, they aren't close.

I'm overthinking this, but the story was meh, the characters were meh, and I'm annoyed by how annoyed I am by it.

DNF at 19%. It has taken me 4 days to get through only 19% of this book. I just can't do it. The FMC seems so incredible childish and the writing is just choppy and not great. Maybe I'll come back to it another time to figure out the good reviews. But as of right now, it just could not capture my attention

Lovely

Mason and Karli were just what the other needed. Mason has decided to start over with his life and moves to Starlight Falls. His first night there, he receives a black eye from his future soulmate. Both were at a low point in their lives but they slowly helped each other heal. Their biggest obstacle happens to be her brothers. When they find out, things fall apart for them. I did like the ending and I hope to read more of them in future books.

Good book

Sweet, hot, and steamy. With a lot of feels. I was very happy reading this book. It was just the romance book I needed. I have not read this author before, so I am going back and picking up some of the other stories this book spun from.

Another new author & I liked her. Liked she didn’t drag out the storyline & yet it was really good. Think I’ll enjoy this series.

I needed an easy filler book for travel, and this kind of book is perfect for that. It is predictable, easy to like, and will keep you entertained.

Mason & Karli

Loved this book...Cassie-Ann Miller was a new author to me & once I started reading her books, I could hardly wait for the next release. She knows how to keep the family vibe intact, adds protective news from siblings, great friendships, lots of steamy love scenes & humor. She incorporates it all. Her books a Soooo worth the read.

This book!

Small town, a one night stand where they don't know who each other are, forced proximity, brother’s bestfriend, amazing girl friends, and protective brothers? Sign me up!

The banter was great and I found myself connecting with the characters super quickly.

You get:
• Forbidden Love
• Dual POV
• Doctor MMC
• Small Town
• Brother's Best Friend
• One Night Stand To Roommates
• It's Never Been Like This

I am so excited to continue with this series, I suggest you should start! Available on Amazon through KU, ebook, paperback, and audiobook.

Feel like the book started “in the middle of a conversation” and I missed the beginning of it. Also, after reading the first four books, following along with all the characters, the MMC did not end up with who the story arc was leading him up to be with and that was a major let down. Just couldn’t get into it after realizing he didn’t end up with the right girl.

I did like this book. However, it wasn't until I was about 80% through it that I discovered there was another series in this world that may have cleared some things up. I suspected with the discussion about the cousins and how they are all married, but now looking at the goodreads info, I see that it is #5 is that series, but #1 in the Brighton series. Oh well.

There wasn't enough interaction with the family as I was expecting. It felt like she just didn't interact with her brothers at all (even Felix!). She worked with Felix, but there was very little interaction so it makes it hard to feel and believe they have such a close family connection when it's literally not there.

To me, things at the beginning of the book felt a little stretched out without much happening. Maybe there was too much repetitive inner dialog? It just felt a little awkward to get through. Finally about 56% in, things started moving forward, though. I just wish the pacing could have picked up sooner.

I think I will continue with this Brighton series, but I'm not going to go to the Westbrooks (unless I get there organically).

From Honey Hill to Starlight Falls, can starting over be a winwin situation for Dr.Mason Westbrook

If you have been following the Westbrook men you know that Mason has been really down on his luck!!
His love life was a sham and he hated working at the clinic there. He needed a change, he decided to take an offer from his best friend in another town and make a new life there!!
Will he be able to practice medicine and make a difference in another little town?
Will he ever meet someone that appreciates him as a good decent man?
How will he feel being away from his large family and his sweet Grammy?
Can he live with a secret forbidden relationship?

Happy Reading pick up a copy on KU and read for free!!!!
This book made me laugh, cry, get angry and also gave a some steamy hot scenes.

Karli and Mason

He’s her brothers best friend. They meet at the bar unknowingly and hook up - they both have never done this before. They are both incredibly hot people - ehhh but ok. He’s come to town to work for her brother and she’s home unexpectedly. And they are to share her parent’s home. She’s kind of a mess because she was rejected from 12 medical schools. She is also kind of snappy but also caring. She gives him a black eye the night they met thinking he was stalking her. They can’t resist each other…. The lock on the bathroom door doesn’t work and bam they are at it again. Only he realizes he’s in love. Weird 3rd act breakup trigger by the brother putting doubts in Masons head. She is crushed but after a bit says I’m gonna get my man - only by now he’s headed to her too.

Hea living together and making work plans
And a proposal in bed with ring in a pie

Boring and shallow

Characters were boring, scenes that could’ve been done in 1 page were 2 pages long. Entire paragraphs about nothing really. The FMC was childish, a drama queen and seemed to get mad anytime the MMC did anything, to the point of irrationality. Nothing steamy or romance related, a third of the way in and there are hardly any scenes between the two main characters, let alone romantic/sex scenes. There’s more about the brothers than the main characters. That’s a problem because the brothers were introduced with little context or delineation of their characters. Therefore, I really had no idea who was whom, and I pictured the same generic man for each brother. We needed more introductory info about these characters if 5 men all of similar age are introduced in literally three same scene (hair color, eye color, age, hairstyle type, etc).

Karli comes home when she gets letters back that she not accepted to med school. Her brother Felix walks in with Mason who’s staying at the house. They look at each other and realize that they had a one night stand the day before. They keep it a secret because Karli has five overbearing brothers. The attraction between is intense and hard to fight. Then she starts working at the clinic and they are spending all day with each other. They start to become friends. Then one thing leads to another. Can they be together? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book. I love Karli and Mason. Great supporting characters. This book makes you laugh and the ratio between spice and storyline is perfect. Love this series. Love the Easter eggs

Mason’s story DID NOT disappoint!!!

Mason Westbrook has hit a fork in the road of his life. Freshly single and having quit his job at the Honey Hill Hospital is needs a major reset, a regroup and a fresh start. He lands in Star Falls the town 45 mins out from his hometown tangled in a motel’s sheets with Karli. What was meant to be a one night stand quickly leads to him finding that Karli is his bestfriend’s little sister and his new housemate.

I love that this story allowed both Mason and Karli to see their past patterns, stand up for what they truly want, push back when other intervened and powered through for love. Don’t get it twisted…it came with lots of ups and downs, but in the end - they knew their love was true.

OK, It Was Good!

It just wasn't for me. For whatever reason, I couldn't connect to the characters in spite of all the truly adorable events in the story. There was the snappy, funny banter between Karli and Mason; their roommate situation; family members; and oh yeah! the steaming hot as a spa sex scenes. Those were way fun!

But I am going to be honest; I skipped huge portions, like I only caught the breakup in retrospect. I did read the last few chapters. As a Prime reader, I know how the politics of my finishing the book affects the author, and I didn't want her to suffer due to my disinterest. This is a perfectly lovely story, and I am at fault if anyone is.

wow

Wow, just wow! Karlie and Mason accidentally meet and the roller coaster of the relationship begins. With five overbearing brothers, she can hardly breathe without someone’s input. She finds out Mason is best friends with one of her brothers. That makes her off-limits. But their hearts don’t understand off-limits. They hide their relationship from her brothers for a long time until they just can’t hide anymore. Then the doodie hits the fan. Everything is turned upside down, but true love always finds its way back. This was a great transition from the Westbrook family to the Brighton family. Can’t wait for the next installment.

I had to force myself to finish this book. And I have loved the Westbrook series.
Love Grammy and the boys. The cousins.
Mason and his string of bad luck. But goodness, what woman wouldn’t go ballistic after mind blowing sex, when the guy looks so remorseful. Not once, but several times.
Get some self respect, Karli! And stop being a bottle rocket, always on the war path.
I will likely read next in series, to see Felix fall. Should be spectacular. I just hope it moves along a bit quicker than this one.

insecure overly protected heroine and a hero making a fresh start

Our hero Mason is a good guy, sensitive and kind, who believes in love but was naive when younger . He’s starting over in a new town, with a new job working for his best friend. Karli is the best friends sister surrounded by 5 successful older brothers. She’s insecure. Their romance is an emotional rollercoaster caused by moral conflicts. It’s an engaging story hard to put down with fascinating g side characters.

Mason has come to a new town to work with his college roommate at his family's medical clinic. He arrives the night before and stops at a combination motel/bar. While in the bar, he meets the most beautiful woman, and they end up spending the night together. When the next morning Mason goes to the home he will temporarily be staying at, he finds out the woman he spent the night with is his new boss's younger sister, Karli. She has unexpectedly returned home for the summer and they will be reaiding in the same house. Likeable characters with hot sex scenes.

Finally Mason is happy!

This was such a cute book. I'm so glad Mason finally got his happy ending. He was such a great supporting character with his Westbrook cousins that I was waiting for him to finally be able to tell his story. Karli was such a spitfire, she made me laugh so much! They had such great chemistry throughout the whole book, it was fun watching them struggle for control before finally giving in. I'm so excited to keep going into the world of the Brightons and Starlight Falls!

Dnf. I couldn’t get past chapter 5 when the male main character describes the female main character as a “hot mess” and “fixer upper” to his family no less. Why? Because she had a one night stand with him. Him having a random one night stand while moving is fine but her having one and being in the middle of moving she is clearly a mess? That’s basically what he knows about her. Could have gotten better but I’m not down for male characters slut shaming the women they slept with.

This was a miss for me, though it wasn't all bad. Mason was ridiculously sweet and thoughtful but it was a hard sell that he'd be in love so quickly after getting out of a relationship that lasted "years and years." Made him seem fickle to me.
Karli drove me a little crazy! I wanted her to stand up to her brothers LONG before she did. She was super immature in the beginning and she was kind of a jerk to Mason.
This was just okay for me. 2.5 Stars

Slow to get going, but worth it!

This one took me a bit to get into, but once it got going, I really enjoyed it!

Mason and Karli were an inferno waiting to happen. I found them each to be a little annoying at the jump, but as you get to know them, their behavior makes sense. I loved once they finally got together and started to really get to know each other. It was super sweet (and hot). I'll definitely be going back to read more about the other Westbrook's and Brighton's. 💙

3.5⭐️ I liked the beginning and the characters, but I felt like the story lost some of its realism as it went on and I lost a lot of interest in the book towards the end. When I picked it back up to read the last four chapters I found it hard to invest myself back to the story. Overall the very ending was cute and seemed fitting for the characters! I did enjoy the humor and banter between the main characters.

Story: 3/5
Spice: 2.5/5

This book was good in places and I definitely think the author is talented. I just felt the beginning had too much exposition. There was too much focus on other characters and setting up the world and not enough on Karli and Mason. So when things did finally start happening, it felt a bit rushed.

Would I read more of this author? Possibly. But right now my TBR is too long to focus on something I’m not 100% invested in.

DNF. Gave up about 25% in. It was boring and couldn't connect with either. Couldn't figure out how she was 24 and just entering med school as undergrad usually done by 22 and no reason why she wasn't accepted to any of them. Then to just come home with no job or plan doesn't scream "has life together" and how does she have money? Overbearing brothers. Nicknames were very unoriginal.
