The Kingdom has changed more in his absence than he thought possible…
After traveling across the entirety of the Sealance Empire and the deserts of Lowenthal, Larek has returned home to the Kingdom of Androthe to find that the situation is quite different from what he remembered. Not only are there massive Apertures called Calamities consuming large portions of the landscape, but most of his friends are also scattered to locations unknown around the Kingdom. Worse yet, they have no idea who he is because of the Dominion magic used on them before he was transported to the Empire.
Despite those setbacks, Larek is determined to reunite with both his friends and his family. Problems arise almost immediately upon entering the Kingdom, however, as he is presented with a delay of his reunion with them all. As a result, he is forced to adapt to the sheer devastation he finds himself surrounded with.
Through it all, there is one truth that is becoming more and more evident as time goes on. As powerful of a Fusionist he may be, Larek also struggles with fighting and anything more than basic combat tactics, as his skills in that department are sorely lacking. It’s time to learn how to fight instead of just flailing around, swinging his axe and hoping that his higher stats will carry the day.
In other words, the Fusionist needs to undergo a much-needed Martial TransFusion.
This weak-to-strong MC story contains LitRPG elements such as character progression and statistics, as well as a heavy crafting emphasis. No explicit sexual content or harems.
Larek has finally made it back to the Kingdom. Things have changed drastically though. The kingdom is divided into quadrants as four apertures have expanded so massively that they have absorbed all nearby apertures and fused into what the locals are calling the Calamities. Larek is more concerned with figuring out what happened to his friends and family though. If he has any chance of saving them, he will need to work on his martial skills and stats. Not only that, he will need a lot of training.
It was great to see Larek in a group again. I feel that this character works best that way. This book was packed full of action and goals being addressed. After the end of the book, I’m looking forward to the next entry! Like most of Jonathan Brooks’ recent books, the stats are their own mini chapters, so it can be as smooth or crunchy as you want. Miles Meili does fantastic narrating.
The main character is finally back in his country and he is finding out that the world has drastically changed in the time he has been gone. He sets out to locate his family and learns that the organization he was part of has fallen apart, and people are suffering. He learns where his family is, but is unable to rescue them at this time. So he sets about locating his friends. He finds two, and briefly attends school to learn to control his Marshall skills. Finding his second friend requires him to resolve a catastrophe. Him and his friends just barely managed to close the catastrophe and set off to find their next friend, The book ends.
it is still an entertaining world with a fascinating magic system and it is growing and expanding. The pacing is excellent and I am thoroughly enjoying the narrator. Please enjoy.
Still going strong, and mostly landing on both feet !
Lark the ex-lumberjack has no desire to lead ! But too many people given the time discovering a Nobel personality from an individual who has many secrets ! But see a special person they are all taken aback to discover his true desire to give of himself !
While all around the kingdom - all conspire to have power and more power and will step on people to get their way.
Very strong characters through out this truly imaginative world builting with many unpredictable situations unfolding!
After being literally under ground fighting demons he heads home to the kingdom an to his parents
Larek continues to get stronger as a fusionist but needs to build up his martial side his combat skills . After returning to the kingdom that is almost nonexistent do to the calamities going global . After learning of his parents where abouts an killing the person responsible for their location and situation . He temporarily go to the fort for combat training and develop his combat skills .recommend reading excellent series .
I really love the storyline, and the characters are great. Character development has been good also. If you could just please stop wasting 5 to 10 pages at a time While he agonizes With Internal dialogue. And then, after the action gets started, a few pages later, we rehash the same internal dialogue that we just went over. I literally could skip 3,4 and 5 pages at a time, and not Miss the beat to the story. But if you love the protagonist who agonizes constantly through the story with his internal nonstop dialogue, it's a great book.
More of the good stuff, but even more of the bad stuff of the author completely screwing up vengeance. The MC finds the mayor, who has ROYALLY earned a brutal killing, and instead the MC just 1-hit-KOs the guy. The mayor didn't even have a chance to be afraid before being killed, which was unsatisfying as hell.
At this rate, would it be safe to assume that the vengeance the MC is presumably eventually going to dish out against the Gergasi, who have also really earned an extinction level ass-whupping, is going to be mindless and super unsatisfying too?
This series has been a total delight. The story is fresh and insanely creative; the writer gifts the reader with a world that you eagerly become part of; and the characters are ones you’ll think of long after you’ve finished the book. Book 5 continues the brilliance and leaves you eager to read more. Really looking forward to book 6!
Truly 1 of my favorite series. This is another awesome book In this series. There were some changes however larik is gaining a backbone and becoming more assertive. Good progression for him as he Goes back to school to learn how to handle his stama as a Martial. Of course even that involves a fusion. Truly a fun story line I look forward to the next book.
Again a decent book. Finding old friends and enemies. And while I admire the author’s ability to describe the making of the fusions. I find my eyes glazing over with the details. It’s like I’m back in a science class. I see that they picked up a new friend but I can see problems if they don’t put the free will fusion on her. But I’m looking forward to the next book
This installment lent too heavy on the racismo angle, to the extent the MC decided to perform body modifications so he wouldn't be discriminated against for being tall. -2 for the body modification subplot.
I'm not a big fan of multi-chapter battles. The dive into the Calamity took 15 of the books 60 chapters. I admit, I skim-read (or flat out skipped) most of it
Book 5 was a definite improvement over book 4, and I was happy that I continued. Although there were still extensive sections on planning and building new. fusions, they were interspersed with other events that advanced the plot. I was somewhat underwhelmed by his reunions with two males of his team, which I felt the author could have added more to.
I love the face he still evolving and working hard for it. Let's hope to get his revenge by making them look like morons lol if you read you will know what I am hoping for
Lots of action for larak. He finally gets the training he needs so badly. His fusion power keeps on growing. It will be interesting to read the next book.
Loved it, great characters, great world building. Now I've finished book5 I need book 6. Keep up the great work, thanks for writing such a great series.
As always Mr Brooks pulls another epic instalment out of that twisted mind of his. The detail contained in the descriptions of the magic system is incredible. The characters are likeable with their flaws and all. So looking forward to more of the same.
Mehhhh same ol same ol .... Love the recaps but hate the fucking FULL chapter stats and right after that another fucking set of new stats. Felt like quarter of the book was just stats. I don't ... nobody needs to know the FULL stats every two chapters and definitely not the entire God famn chapter.
Interesting story, liked the storyline and hope there's more coming. It has been a good development of the narrative from book one to this one. Lovely.
Things are coming to a head and I'm into it. As normal with Jonathan's books, the overall arching plot is tight, with some minor issues as we go through the story.
I love that Larek is traveling, and it was some of his old friends, especially Nedira. I love a love story in an action story. I hope Larek finds his family soon. He has been away from them for so long.
