Private investigator Alexis Parker has worked a lot of cases, but going undercover as an employee at a spa has to be at the top of her list of cushier assignments. Every room has a tray with cucumber water. The towels are organic Egyptian cotton, and everyone is calm and pleasant. Or is that all an act?
While Alex attempts to find the establishment's dark underbelly, a group of armed men find themselves in desperate need of some R &R. Alex never expected an investigation into a wellness center to turn into one of the most harrowing experiences of her life. As usual, not everything goes as planned, and not everyone will remain breathing when all is said and done.

Sounds relaxing, but for Alex events turn dangerous, violent and deadly. It's a suspenseful, action-packed read with lots of entertaining dialogue, especially between Alex and Martin, Cross and O'Connor. The investigation has twists and turns as the pieces come together. I'm a big fan of this series and I highly recommend reading these books in chronological order.
Alex is undercover in a spa for an insurance company. She's wearing a N95 mask the day the spa is gassed and a murder done so she was ok until she knocked one of the culprits out and grabbed hid gas mask. She didn't see a lot before the escape but got a picture of the guy she knocked out. Working together with the police and Cross the crime is solved. It ends with she and Martin having some quiet time. Great story. Love this series.
I love the Alexis Parker series -and the slow growth she is exhibiting…read sloooowwww. This one was very light on James Martin but enjoyable. Alexis finds trouble no matter where she goes and is up for any challenge. With her trusty sidekicks she solves mysteries (whether her boss is ok with that or not) and seeks justice.
Had me starting in chapter one. If you love action, friendships, a strong female bad ass then you have to read Hostage Situation along with all the other books in the Alexis Parker series. You fall for all the characters G.K. Parks has created throughout this series. Check it out and enjoy!
Having read all of her books I cannot tell you how much I love them. This is no exception. You are always on your toes with her. She adds humor when needed and has a great working relationship with her peers. Not to mention her live in boyfriend. She is a must read.
This was an intense, complex, and intriguing story with many unexpected twists that will hook you from beginning to end. It's not a series to be missed. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
So many twists and turns in Hostage Situation you just can't stop reading!! If you love action stories and a strong female lead this is the one. Parks is an awesome storyteller!!
I really enjoyed this Alexis Parker novel. I mean, I have enjoyed all of them but especially this one. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down.
I love this series! In this book Alexis is working undercover at a spa that is robbed. A client was found dead & of course Alexis can't let it go. Well worth the read.
Alexis Parker is like a dog with a bone, she just won't let go, it puts her in danger for much of the time. An investigative journalist is found dead after a robbery at a spa, where Alexis working undercover, as a member of the cleaning crew. On checking the body, marks are found pointing to a homicide rather than the result of the knock out gas used by the robbers to incapacitate patrons of the spa. Whilst employed by Cross Investigations, Alexis still has active contacts with the local P.D. Liaising with Nick and Heathcliff is officially against the rules, but Alexis works her own path. There are numerous leads to check and Alexis utilises both her PD friends and her fellow employees at Cross. Following her instincts and experience in criminal investigations, she once again puts herself in danger to bring those responsible for both the murder and robbery to justice. As with previous books in this series, you have to wait till the last few pages to bring all the pieces together. Very well written. G K Parks never lets you down.
Author seems to have been struggling to build the story between the start of the book and the end. While in real life it may feel like one is slogging through a swamp of information and getting sidelined, the reading of the story should not make the reader feel that way. It is not the book I would stay up late to read even though, I just wanted it to end.
I had forgotten how much I love Alexis Parker and the oh so lovely Martin. Not forgetting O’Connell and all the other PD characters. I read the Lucien Cross series as well so know exactly what Alexis is up against working for Cross Security (and Investigations!) Once again an adrenaline fuelled mastermind of a story entwined with the lead characters own love story and personal background. Loved it.
At the time of this review, there are 27 books in this series. I am reading them all for the second time. I absolutely love the characters, the storylines, the mysteries, the suspense, and the humor. I highly recommend this series.
The thing that keeps me coming back for each book in this series is the plot. There’s never a dull moment when Alex Parker is involved, and each book just keeps getting better.
