Kind of tempted to give 3 stars. I enjoy this series but this book was slower than others. The main characters are separated for most of this book which got old. I still think we need more relationship growth with Tristan and Spencer. In my perspective, Azlan and Stone get the most page-time with Rhi. Tristan and Spencer are now professing their love a lot to Rhi, but I still feel like they don’t even really know her? They don’t talk about anything except how they’re sorry and they love Rhi. Renzo was heavily featured in this book, which I liked because he’s hilarious. His psychotic thoughts are superb.

I could use a reminder on everyone’s magic powers because all of these characters seem to have every superpower at the most convenient times

The smut is a bit rushed and underwhelming (and there wasn’t much of it until the last half). There were also a few big moments that were a bit rushed to me (like what happened with Tristan’s mom), but I still enjoyed it. I’m getting annoyed that Winnie and ~Trent~ (who I don’t trust) are just always around. Can they leave the main 6 alone?

Anyways, it’s a good series but I’m ready for the final book!

Uh the plot is kinda going downhill from this book but I’m in too deep to give up on the series now. This was rlly infuriating and frustrating to read like what do u mean two of them mates are literally dying being tortured barely breathing and you’re like sobbing I care about them but I also wanna fuck like uhm EXCUSE ME WHAT THE ACTUAL FU–
yeah I was gagged
And yes she repeated that again and again and again and I was like uh
And then my last straw acc I didn’t have straws left at this point but let’s pretend I did for the sake of me presenting the argument: tell me why she asks Tristan that u saved Spencer (her other mate) because u didn’t care about me, and chose him over me. And Spencer was legit dying or almost dead and even Tristan was like I DID IT FOR U, but girlypop was having none of it she was like nu-uh u should have let him die and ran after me like LIKE GORLLL
And why did she have to do it with Tristan in a life or death situation and be like yeah coz the universe wanted me to like uhm no, I’m pretty sure the universe does not give a fuck that’s all you and your fucked up sense of timing and propriety, like Ik it’s a reverse harem BUT LEARN SOME FUCKING DECENCY you fumbled harder than a dark romance atleast in DR if they do it in awkward places it’s on purpose. I can’t believe I’m supporting messy DR scenes bcz of thsi train wreck *facepalm*

STAND UP, RHI.

I REALLY dislike when authors create a sense of urgency and then ruin it with a sexy scene. Rhi had three or four different premonitions warning her Spencer was in trouble/danger, why was there no sense of urgency to accompany this? The thought of your fated mate being tortured makes your libido sky-rocket for some reason? She has time to get freaky with multiple people and no one has anything to say about the messed up priorities in the middle of them being hunted. Jeez, it was implied Winnie’s grandmother would be hurt for helping them and not a second thought is given to her sacrifice. There’s a weak excuse of “laying low”, which is laughable given their plan is terrible and fails immediately.

All of Rhi’s mate are jerks who don’t deserve her, and there is NO groveling. Just the overused trope of the toxic mate realizing much too late that they’re in the wrong and being forgiven when they get hurt trying to save their easily impressed other half. The other mates give them crap for half a second before the woman points out their hypocrisy and reminds them of their own terrible actions. The one hold out mate messes up by trusting the main villain over the female lead one too many times and gets hurt or captured. He’s rescued and finally accepts his connection to the female lead out of gratitude? Girl, throw them all away instead and learn to stand up lol.

Rhi’s “relationship” with Renzo especially turns my stomach. He’s an underling assassin who physically attacked her earlier in the series before becoming obsessed with her. She was very hurt and almost died, but he feels no guilt whatsoever because he was just following orders. Everything she does to protect herself from him becomes a funny little joke to Renzo, who’s honestly a creep with how he talks about his usual methods of just taking what he wants. As the academy falls under attack, Renzo reveals he can teleport himself and others by kidnapping Rhi. She spends several days telling him she wants to return to her mates, and his response is to knock her out with magic and continue trying to seduce her when she wakes up. She is upset for a bit but nonetheless allows him to coerce her into hooking up while inner monologuing about how she hopes he doesn’t get the wrong idea that they’re going to be together. Like DUH GIRL. He’s an unstable man who has told you to your face that he wants to be with you. Why would you entertain that even for a moment if you were not all in, do you really have no impulse control at all?

There are too many mates and not enough time given to each to say any of them genuinely care about Rhi outside of the convenient “mate pull” or vise versa. What does she like about any one of them, other than physical attractiveness? Some of the men and their relationships with each other blend together as well, Spencer’s werebeast issue was interesting but could easily have happened to any one of the other men and then there’s no point to his character. Azlan and Stone were damn near the same person to me, older mate in a position of power who suddenly realizes he’s working for the bad guys. Rhi goes from being bullied, to being powerful, to be obsessed over by five men. She has secret powers and is suddenly revealed to be the daughter of some big bad no one has mentioned up until this point. She was interesting in the beginning of the series, but is now firmly in the generic “save the cheerleader, save the world” territory.

Now that Rhi has hooked up with/bonded to all of her mates, I don’t really see a point in reading the final book. She’s stuck with every one of them and they are not at all obligated to change their ways. I’m not sure what the point of making them so unlikeable was if she was just going to immediately spread her legs in every single case. This five book series could have been split into two instead.

"I can't wait for the heroine to be separated from her mates for almost the entire book!" said no Romance reader ever. I don't know why authors do this, especially mid-series, when readers are weighing whether they want to continue with the series or not.

I did enjoy a few things about this book.

- Renzo is now my favorite of Rhi's mates. I'm so glad we got the chance to know him better. The author did a good job of making him crazy and unpredictable, but never so over the top to be annoying. I think he's sort of adorable, and my heart hurts knowing how lonely and touch-starved he's been for most of his life.
- Winnie - Not only was she a scene-stealing badass like before, but seeing Rhi's mates respect and protect her made me happy.
- Chekhov's Dragon - It may have seemed like an impromptu side quest, but I guarantee that our new dragon friend will factor into the last book and the fight to defeat the Lord Protector.
- Prince Pip - My wacky theory about Pip being Rhi's father, was not debunked. In fact, learning that he wandered onto Rhi's farm instead of being born there, and the fact that he hasn't aged a day in ten years, makes me more convinced than ever. And then there's the way the dragon, with her special breed of magic reacted to him. Now, I can't wait for his curse to be broken.
- Tristan - I wouldn't have minded if he'd simply slunk off when daddy wasn't looking to find Rhi and the others. I never ever expected him to engage in a magic battle against his father. He didn't win, through no fault of his own, but I respect him so much more for even trying, when his father has always terrified him.
- Spencer - Still don't love him, but I like him more than I did before. Did I pick up on a vibe between Spencer and Tristan, or was I just imagining things?
- The ending - after the way the last book ended, I'm glad that everyone is now in the same place, and we're being given a chance to breathe before things get crazy again.

Things I didn't love:
- The long separation between Rhi and her mates
- Aside from Renzo, the guys just sort of stagnated. This could've been a good time to build characterization and show us who each man is, fundamentally, but the author wasted the opportunity. Tristan's chapters were few and far between, and too short, in the interest of concealing what his father was doing. Spencer's were also short, and all he really did is loll about in pain and regret. Azlan and Stone had longer chapters, but they basically just recounted their trials and tribulations in the quest to find Rhianna. I don't know them any better than I did in the first three book.
- Lack of communication - Who's going to tell the group who Rhi's daddy is? I'm guessing it won't be Rhi. Then there's the princess and her five mates. To some, it's a fairytale, to others, it's a prophesy. Each of them has heard some mention of it, so why aren't they discussing it as a group to determine what fate wants from them?
- Spicy scenes - I wasn't expecting a lot, due to the circumstances, yet, every spicy scene felt emotionally-hollow and rushed. Let's just say I wasn't feeling the love.\

Despite all the above, I intend to continue the series. I'm too interested to learn about Rhi's parents, to see her finally bond with Spencer, and discover how all these people and situations fall into place when it's time to defeat the Lord Protector and his minions.

Very easy, fast read. Nothing happens that we don’t already know. It was certainly a choice to have the second to last book have the majority of the plot away from her mates.

This was a hard read.

I feel like all the relationships still feel super surface level - they are suddenly in love but haven’t really seen any relationship development so it feels forced and unrealistic.

Spencer and Tristan have just suddenly been forgiven because they went through a rough time but haven’t done anything to prove themselves as worthy to be her mates. The fact they spent yet another book so separated just makes their relationship development even harder to believe in. Book four and they are only just together as a group - spice level for a RH is extremely light and the scenes were a hard read.

Rhi sucks and is super annoying. I wish Winnie was the main character- she just had a better personality imo.

Also everyone’s powers are so up in the air - the teleporting, mind reading / control and invisibility could have been used to get out of SO many situations. Sometimes they are all powerful killing and winning against SO many ppl and then other times are taken out by a few or one person.

AND Renzo implying he usually just takes what he wants from women is disgusting. How lucky she gets a murdering rapist mate? In fact they are all pretty shitty people deep down as shown by their earlier actions. Just because they are finally being nice to their mate doesn’t mean they are actually now decent guys if that’s how they treat strangers. I just don’t feel myself rooting for their relationship to work out.

This author has made our FMC (Rhi) so annoying.. like bad.. real. real bad.
Rhi has mates clearly injured, missing and/or dead and she’s just horny and it **ruins** the pacing and disrupts the plot.
It got so bad that I was just rolling my eyes until I got some relief from her POV.

I was hoping to see some relationship growth in this one but unfortunately, the author decided that it was time for an entire book of them being separated :)

Alright, can we talk about Renzo? Are we supposed to like him? or what? One minute he’s written as redeemable and then the next he’s essentially talking about wanting to SA Rhi.. hello??

Azlan and Stone’s platonic relationship is written better than Rhi’s relationship with each of them. In fact, I would say that all of the platonic relationships have been better written and more genuine.

Dear Tristan and Spencer, please drop Rhi and find someone better.
Tristan literally DIED for her and then she accuses him of not caring about her like girl.. bffr.
Spencer saved her life more than once and has clearly evolved yet, come the end of this book, she is still shitting on him.

At this point, I’m just reading the final book so I know how it ends.
So. Wildly. Disappointed.

Dragons, mates, a new dictator, and more.

I am really starting to like Renzo, even better than the too serious and broody arsehole like Tristan and Sebastian. Like the man in black and our professor, there is more to Renzo, and his way of seeing has an innocence to it as well as chaos, and I love it!
Now Rhee has found out more things about her father, and also accepted her she has all these mates. An evil more delusional and power-hungry than anyone expected is rising fast, and right now, I don't see what her path is, but I get the feeling she's the one they the fairy tales foresaw

Oh, and little piggy, I see you, and there is something more to that little piggy...well, I hope there is.

Quick smut and new bonds, I could have done with book 5 ready to listen to. But nope, I have to wait... oh, the wait! It's worth it, though

I know most other reviews were complaining that they were separated but I'm so frustrated by the inconsistent characterization of the FMC by now I just wanted her to stay gone so we could get on with the real story.

The girl doesn't have two braincells to rub together. Literally every time there's an action sequence she immediately tries to distract the competant people from trying to rescue her, purely out of panic. If they need to be quiet, you can be sure she will be shrieking names. It's literally the only time she will blurt out important information... when someone evil might be listening.

Having to read a very, very long conversation where she whined about how her mate let another woman touch him while he was being drugged and yanked around by his father like a puppet was flipping painful. Not to mention her other mates were imprisoned and possibly dying as she felt sorry for herself and tried to poke holes in his story... after she literally pulled the drug out of him herself then accused him of not telling his father about the mates bond while he was tortured because he's 'ashamed'. Also how dare he try to rescue his best friend instead of crawling after her like all her other mates did?

Girl, you're in a warzone and acting like a scorned 12 year old in a school yard. He SHOULD be ashamed of you.

In spite of the fact that all her fated mates resisted her in the exact same way... by bullying her... she still acts the exact same way with every one of them that gets brought to heel. Oh no, I couldn’t possibly trust you. Oh no, i couldn’t possibly share critical information that might save all our lives. Oh no you obviously secretly hate me even though I can literally feel what you feel through the bond. Oh no, there couldn't possibly be any kind of nuance going on here. The repetition was driving me insane.

She just comes across as so vapid and self serving it feels forced that everyone clusters around her for no reason. She was so much more self possessed at the beginning of the series. She actually seemed to have a flicker of intelligence then.

I know her being dumb-as-rocks is what has been driving the story, but come on. There had to be a better way than her blindly stumbling from one crisis to another while her poor mates scramble along behind trying to extract intention or sense from her like thirsty men digging for water in a desert.

I guess she's hot though, right? Funny how they all suddenly decided they wanted to be mates after she gained weight and started looking hot.

I still wish Winnie was the FMC. Or failing that, the pig.

I really enjoyed the first 3 books in this series, but this one was a lot harder for me to get through. I don’t see how it will be possible to bring both the main plot and the romantic plot to a satisfactory conclusion in the last book without dumping a ton of information at once. By book 4 in a 5 book series we really need to know more information than we do at this point.

I’m also a little disappointed in the progression and resolution of the romance aspect. There is simply no way for the FMC to have adequate time in the story with Tristan or Spencer at this point to redeem either character or create any type of deeper connection that isn’t just ‘we’re fated’. There has been a ton of on-page time with Azlan and Stone and this book also gave a lot of time with Renzo (who is just a whole other problem for me that I don’t even want to get into). So far, the only time with Tristan and Spencer has been bullying with reluctant attraction. Both characters should have had the most time for groveling and redemption and will really only get to share that time in the final book with Renzo (because there is still stuff to be resolved there) and the ENTIRE plot resolution which will need to be quite robust based on all the setup.

I really hope the author manages to resolve everything that needs to be resolved, but honestly it’s either going to be a massive volume or not enough to cover everything

🎶 Love's a fragile little flame, it could burn out. It could burn out 🎶

Rhianna (h) thought she was free after escaping Lowsky's clutches, but freedom comes with a price. Separated from her fated mates, she finds herself in a crumbling world where the country’s defenses are falling apart and dark forces are steadily taking control.

─── ・ 。゚☆: THOUGHTS*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

[Azlan & Phoenix]

“There’s only one way to remove that kind of pain and it involves …”

“Fucking? Ha!” Barone says. “Is that what the enforcer told you? He’s more deviant than I gave him credit for.”

Besties on a mission to find Rhi, but they still don't quite have the same energy as Renzo. They just don't bring the same level of intensity and obsession as Renzo does. Renzo was literally with her the entire time. The man has been down bad, living on pure devotion and obsession. He’s got that unhinged, ride-or-die energy, no holds barred. He's not just working to find her; he's already emotionally invested in her from the jump, and that obsession only intensifies. And it's also kind of funny because Az and Stone have their own development and moments with Rhi, but they're still low-key playing catch-up to Renzo, who’s already been holding it down for her. Renzo’s the one who’s been there emotionally and physically, not just for her safety, but for everything (in this book at least).

[Tristan]

“He isn’t dead. I think he was very, nearly, pretty dead,” I sniffle, “and that’s why you’ve been so damn ill. But you’re back with us now, so he must be safe.”

Tristan... Tristan, what are you doing?! This man really chose to walk away from Rhi again to protect Spencer and walked right into his father’s hands? I mean, okay, there's development here, but damn—talk about self-sacrifice at the most inconvenient moment. It’s like he’s finally starting to care for someone other than himself, but why does it always have to come at such a high cost?! It’s kind of a turning point for him, though, right? Like, we’ve seen him be selfish, pushing Rhi away, acting like he doesn’t care about the bond and acting all high and mighty. But now? He’s willing to make a huge sacrifice to protect someone else. That’s growth, even if it doesn’t excuse all the messed-up things he’s done before. Still, it stings, right? Like, he had the chance to be with Rhi, to be with her, and instead, he chooses to go back to his father’s control. It’s frustrating because you can see he’s doing the “right” thing in his mind, but it hurts Rhi in the process—and we’ve seen how much she’s been through just trying to understand everything, trying to fight for them. And then he pulls this stunt again.

[Spencer]

“We’re one being,” Spencer says. “If I’m her fated mate, then so is he, and he would never harm his mate. In fact, we hitched a ride on the tail of a fucking dragon to ensure we got back here to protect her.”

Spencer being locked up this whole time because of his werebeast side and Tristan trying to save him from his father? He hasn’t even been around Rhi this whole time because he’s been in captivity. He hasn’t been able to act on the bond or really get close to her—he’s literally been locked away. And meanwhile, Rhi’s having dreams about him, thinking she needs to rescue him. She’s feeling this pull to him, like she knows something’s wrong and that she needs to save him, but she doesn’t even know he’s been trapped this whole time. That must make her feel so helpless and frustrated, especially if she’s sensing the bond growing stronger but can’t get to him.

[Renzo]

“I think you’re fucking incrediblee, little rabbit. I think I’d follow you anywhere, do anything for you. I’ve never met anyone like you before.”

“Everything about you. The dark and the light. The shadows and the blaze. The way you get real mad at me, the way you scream, the way you’re always fighting.” His eyes swim down my form. “I’ve never wanted to consume anything as badly as I have you.”

YESSSS, Renzo is SOOO.. HEART EYES. The way he’s so unhinged but absolutely down bad for Rhi is everything. Like, this man is straight-up obsessed with her, and I am here for it. His psychotic golden retriever energy? Chef’s kiss. He’s got that mix of intense, unfiltered obsession with a weird, almost adorable level of devotion. He’s the kind of guy who would straight-up burn the world down for her and still think he’s doing the right thing. Renzo has that level of intense, no-filter obsession, but with a softer, more pining side that makes him even more irresistible. He doesn’t even try to hide it—he’s just so unapologetically in love with her, and it’s honestly kind of refreshing to see. He’s the kind of guy who’s going to let you know exactly how he feels, even if it’s a little messy, and that makes his connection with Rhi feel so real. And the fact that he died and then came back after she sealed the bond? That whole moment was just chef’s kiss, because it shows just how far he’s willing to go for her. Not to mention, it proves that the bond between them is there, and nothing can break it. The way they’re connected just feels so intense and genuine, and Renzo’s whole arc just makes me want more of him.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

There is nothing I detest more (besides the memory loss trope) than the “seperate the main characters trope and make them suffer” 😖 dragging the story along slowly.

The majority of the fourth book is just that. Rhi being separated from her harem of men, except for Renzo, which I rather did enjoy his scenes and POV. He is a deranged psycho and I rather love him because of it. I must admit that he is beginning to be my favourite 🤪 nothing beats a beast who would absolutely cut everyone down for his mate without batting an eyelid and never apologising for it. He is brutally honest and absolutely hilarious 🤣

I was getting a little frustrated and annoyed at how slow it was for the harem to get back together but the action in this book was more than what we have had in the previous books. Still so many questions need to be answered especially around Rhi’s powers, the bond between her five mates, who her father is and what this all means for the world and plot. Hopefully the next book will reveal what we need to know and that all these men learn how to play with one another 😉

i just feel everything has been dragged on way to much. spencer and tristan switched up so fast with rhi that it doesn't really make sense to me. we don't truly see from their pov why they wanted to be with her aside from "giving into fate" and the bond.

they never really showed much care for her before, except when their own necks were on the line. they've know for so long that she is their mate but still set out to treat her like crap; with absolutely zero groveling or real apologies.

rhi, which i totally understand why she does it, refuses to even listen to what tristan had to say in the previous books when he caved on the idea of her being his mate. she claims she sees these glimpses of the real him but makes no effort to get to know him; let alone understand why he is the way he is.

Azlan is the only one who remotely cared for her from the beginning. stone mostly gets on my nerves. he was so hell bent on getting rid of the bond, ignoring it, but randomly gives in one day and never looks back

they all make a big show of saying they'll make it up to her, grovel, but they never really do. azlan just buys her stuff, stone tutors her so she won't be ignorant, and tristan also buys her stuff.

no effort is made from the mmc to make up to rhi all the terrible things they've done to her. she's all about how she won't let it go and won't forgive them but them pretty much becomes putty in their hands the minute she bonds with any of them.

i'm not sure i'll be continuing onto the next book. we'll see.

After barely escaping the attack that destroyed the academy, Rhianna finds herself on the run with Renzo. He’s not someone she would normally choose for herself, but she’s starting to see why fate has thrown them together. Rhi doesn’t have much time to dwell on it though. There’s someone extremely powerful and evil who has put a price on her head, and he’s just taken over as chancellor by force. To top things off, she doesn’t know if Tristan is dead or alive, and Spencer is missing all together. How will she get through this?

While I’ve been enjoying this series, I was a bit disappointed with the previous book. Luckily, this installment has restored my faith in the series. I really enjoyed following all of the characters, especially Rhi and Renzo. He’s the only one of Rhi’s mates that we’ve spent very little time with, so it was great to finally learn more about him while they were doing their best to get somewhere safe.

However, it did still have some issues. The interactions between some of the characters was super clunky in Stone and Azlan’s chapters during the search for Rhi. It also seemed like various characters lost every last brain cell at times. The lack of communication was also a problem. I’m not sure why the story keeps making a point for there to be no secrets only to hold off sharing some major information that would help them decide what to do.

All in all, I enjoyed reading this, but I did occasionally pause to side eye the lack of communication and lack of brain cells on and off. The good news is that I’m about to start the final book, so everything will be out in the open… I think. Anything can happen!

This book was even less interesting than the previous. I started skimming the pages at 10% and don’t think I’ve missed anything of importance by doing so.
‘Killing your darlings’ is a term quite popular in the writerworld. It’s also a skill many of the new writers don’t possess. I do think it would produce a far better book when applied, because about 80% of the inner dialogue (that is a large portion of this book) was unnecessary. Though it might be more important for authors today to sell more books than writing one hell of a story, even if it has less words. Alas, I’m glad the last book isn’t out yet because I’ll probably forget all about this series in the meantime and won’t even want to read it once it’s out.

I've just finished, and I wasn't expecting it to finish when it did 😳 😅 was so angry when I turned the page and realised it was over. Thought it was a really short book and then realised it wasn't. I had just devoured it in 1.5 days 😂😂

Thoughts:
☆ I need the next book asap, lol
☆ love how winnie is still the BFF and clever and kick ass and holds her own
☆ Spencer 🥺💔 for him
☆ yay for Tristan putting his bestie first
☆ the assassins crazines, but watching him grow is THE best part of this book
☆ dragon! Feel like she will be making a reapprance 🤞🏻🤞🏻
☆ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
☆ loved it!

I'm obsessed with this series! I've been lucky enough to be Beta reading it and let me tell you, I hardly had any feedback to give Hannah except that I loved it. Everything was fantastic! I really enjoyed getting more of Renzo, his character is fantastic.

This is the fourth book in a series so I'm not going to give much away, but I would HIGHLY recommend checking it out.

It's got magic, fated mates, an academy setting, it's paranormal, and it's got the cutest pig around.

***RENZO & RHI***

...........spoiler............

..........................

........................

I loved it! But I think the ending is rushed, with no heartfelt emotion from Rhi when Renzo was drained 😢 and actually died. She just curled up and loses it...
Anyway, I have loved it from beginning to the unsuccessful
rescue by the gang, and after that, I felt like it was rushed to the end.

Felt longer

This one felt a little longer. In it the other reluctant mates finally realize the prize that Rhi is. There’s a big event and Rhi decided to save Summer, big mistake. Summer is not someone I would ever expect to thank someone for saving them nope. In this one Tristan and Spencer both deny the bond or have reasons why they don’t want to bond but it continues to get more and more difficult. Finally Tristan pulls his head from his behind and tries to make it right, except Rhi isn’t sure if she can’t believe him. The ride and journey are crazy I still wish more groveling was to be had with Spencer but due to the circumstances I can see why it has been some what glossed over, for now. I’m interested to see how this plays out with the Lord Protector.

The gangs all back together. I can't believe it's the penultimate book already. I am dyyying waiting for the final book to arrive. This one has my favorite little pig, lots of pig daddy and dragons?! Is that a hint as to what's coming? That cliffhanger again as well. I really hope the answers I've been waiting for are coming. Great read 5 ⭐️

Well

There were some continuity issues I caught that ruined this one for me. I still can't stand this fmc a lot of the time. Ik this review isn't going to be very helpful, and i apologize, I don't have much left in the tank to leave a more detailed review. This is more for my goodreads to look back on later.

I’m pretty sure that Renzo is my favorite.
I’m sure that says something about me…
