Les Hernandez has that whole bad boy chef vibe, rocks a kilt, and makes the most orgasmic cheesecake in Napa Valley. But when it comes to having his life together, knowing where he fits into his two families is tearing him apart. His mother’s family gave him his gifts for cooking, and his father’s family, the Palatines, where he inherited other… special skills. His alpha is pushing him to take a DNA test to identify his father. And the new owner of the hotel where he works, she’s something all together more dangerous, wants him nosing around her staff to find out who is causing problems.
And then there’s She’s cute and sassy, and has this way of eating his desserts that leaves him needing a moment or three in the walk-in freezer. She’s the only one who makes sense in all of this mess. And if he can accept what she is to him, the rest of it might all fall into place.
Bio-engineered to be the only redhead in a generation of blonds, Lulu feels that “aliens” may actually be the best answer for a lifetime of being asked, “Where did you get that red hair from?”
Lulu cannot ride a horse, hula hoop, or play roller derby (not from lack of trying), but she can make pictures. Encouraged to make those pictures out of words Lulu began writing just to see what would happen. Words happened, so many words.
Lulu embraces the crazy that comes with that one little genetic mutation and attempts to live up to the reputation of being a redhead.
When offered an opportunity to receive a free copy of this book, I jumped at it!
Wasn't that a mistake… These books typically follow the same basic idea: curvy girl (super self-conscious with a skinny friend and doesn't think she's good enough), meets hot boy who loves curves and wants to worship her. Maybe she was trying to change things up? "Hot boy" is a total JERK! He's interested, but only secretly, and keeps stopping himself because she's "fat"? I was hoping that if he did actually return her affections, she would tell him to pound sand! The moment that they finally did come together? Middle schoolers throwing temper tantrums and over-reacting. Oh my god! That really ticked me off, but I said I would read it, so I did. To make matters worse, everyone acts like a bunch of middle schoolers. I could not imagine working with someone that constantly felt the need to hurl insults, just for the sake of being a douche. People like that are WHY curvy girls think they aren't good enough. It was just absurd, the entire thing. I would not recommend this to anyone, and I don't think that I will be reading any more from this author.
Wow, this was a fun, sexy story. I loved how Tori put herself out there and never let rejection get her down. It was also fun when she ate Les’s desserts. Just as Les and Tori are getting to know one another bad things happen and misunderstandings. I did like the part when Tori shocked Lucas in the face after he badmouthed her. He was mean throughout the story and deserved to be hit. There is also the part where someone tries to hurt Tori but she fights back and this is where she finds out what Les is. A good story. I received a advance copy and the views and opinions are my own.
What an interesting take on a shifter story with a strong female lead in Tori and Les is a brilliant desert chef trying to keep his family origins from defining his life. What started as an attraction that seemed unrequited burst into a love so great that it took some time to cultivate. It was an interesting read with some funny moments between the characters.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.
Brilliant book. Very well written and characters are pictured in my head. This is the first I’ve read in the series but I will be waiting for the next one . It made me laugh out loud but it also made me cry. I received this book as a review copy .m
I absolutely loved this book! I want to crawl inside and live in this story.
Something about this book felt cozy and comforting and I adored Tori. She was fun and unapologetic but also so relatable. I've also been in a situation where I moved cities to start over and I've also always struggled to form meaningful relationships. This aspect of Tori spoke to me in such a way that made me want to be her new BFF.
When I first started reading I honestly wasn't a fan of Lev. I thought he was a bit obnoxious. I think as Tori fell in love with him, I did too, by the end of the novel I was rooting for him and her and their happily ever after.
This is the seventh book in the series and was written in such a way that someone who has not read the previous books (such as me) can follow along and enjoy the story. I am now looking forward to digging into the other six books in this series!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
