I’m a fragrance chemist with a genius IQ. He’s a hotshot, dirty-talking lawyer. So long, virginity.
I almost have it all including a loving family, a not-too-annoying best friend, and a thriving career I’m proud of.
What I don’t have and have never had is a lover.
I’m a… (wait for it because I have)… twenty-nine-year-old virgin.
I’m determined to change that on my thirtieth birthday.
I devise a plan to make it happen. The plan consists of a hookup app and some liquid courage in the form of a few glasses of champagne.
My perfect plan falls apart when I blurt out to the hottest man on the planet that I’m still carrying my V-card.
Being the gentleman he is, he offers to help me out.
I should say no because he’s my sister’s boss, but he’s too good to pass up. I mean, the offer is too good to pass up. (Either way, I’m not about to turn him down.)
Rook Thorsen will be my first, and then we’ll part ways because he has a law firm to run and a daughter to raise.
I have a heart that I protect at all costs, so our first time arrangement suits me just fine.
Until I realize that one night with Rook isn’t nearly enough.
Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.
She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
They were so cute, I loved their relationship and how it was developed and stuff so cute. He wanted her so bad since the beginning cause I remember the day they met in Declan and Abby’s book omg he was hypnotized while she was showing him her perfume and stuff 🥹
Rook is another great book in the Billionaire Buck Boys series. The series consists of lifelong friends who went to the private “Buchanan” school together when they were teens. This is book six and Rook Thorsen’s story. Rook runs a successful law firm and is a single dad to an adorable five-year-old daughter named Kirby. He’s content with the life he leads. However, when he meets his employee’s stepsister, Carrie Gilbert, Rook becomes incredibly enamored with her.
I’m thoroughly enjoying this series. It’s full of fun, sweet, romantic, and steamy moments. And great secondary characters too. I hope Posey, Milo, and Holden get their own books too. I highly recommend reading this series in chronological order to get the best understanding of all the characters and events that take place.

Ah, I feel wrung out. I definitely have a book hangover after finishing this story. I’ve read all of Deborah Bladon’s books and I think the Buck Boys are my favourites - sorry Calvettis and Morgans, but you’ve slipped to 2nd and 3rd place. Rook is Declan Wells best friend and we start with his wedding to Abby (see Greed), Carrie’s stepsister. Carrie initially appears a bit of an odd duck, a chemist at Matiz, with a roadmap for her life - marriage, children etc. Top of the list is losing her virginity on her 30th birthday and she has very focused ideas on how that’s going to happen. Rook offers to help out with her predicament and well, we all know how that’s going to end. This is a sweet love story full of preconceived ideas on how things should be (but never are), quirky characters, misunderstandings, heartbreak, a sassy 5 year old and a kitten. I loved it!
I found this title while viewing a YouTube video. The premise sounded great and I downloaded it. The writing is good, albeit a bit repetitive in places. How many times can we hear how good looking Rook is? I don't know! too many for me. I still enjoyed this book and would recommend. One thing that prevented this book from being a 5 star is the way Rook's daughter is being raised. She's 5 years old and already has learned the art of manipulating everyone around her. One phone call, tears and everyone is running to do a 5 year olds bidding. Don't get me wrong I have children and spoiled but I think this was a bit too far.
The love story between Rook, he's a billionaire attorney at his families firm, and Carrie a brilliant perfume chemist and a virgin. There are some wonderful characters and the story is well written and interesting. There are some really good moments and the spice between Rook & Carrie is good.
This wonderful Manhattan series of standalone love stories continues in Rook. Another of the Buck boys is about to be completely undone when this single dad finally gets to have a close encounter with Carrie the beautiful chemist that works her magic creating fragrances for Matiz cosmetics.
I get so engrossed in this world each time I delve into these interconnected stories watching all my favourite past characters pop in and out and see how they all weave in and out of eachothers lives.
Kirby is an absolute treat, she melted my heart and then there was the actual chemistry between Rook and Carrie, which was off the charts hot. These two were absolute fire together. Another brilliant story.
I do love Deborahs writing style, but everything is a bit too cliche and wonderful in her most recent books. What I originally loved was they were a bit gritty and usually had a twist of the story, that kept you guessing, but turned out well in the end. Everyone in the last few have just been a bit too perfect from scratch no growth. Rook is the perfect man, who instantly falls in love with Carrie the beautiful virgin scientist, and everyone is wonderful, including Rook's oh so perfect daughter who also falls in love with Carrie. They are all a bit sickly sweet - come on Deborah lets have more of the gritty A**hole men who change when they realise what they will lose when a gritty woman calls them out on their ways!
Absolute perfection. This is what I call a love story. You will savor every moment of this book. Rook and Carrie cross paths because of her stepsister working in Rook’s law office, and they are each drawn to the other. Neither knows that, though. Carrie may be the chemist, but the chemistry between them is going to ignite into an explosion neither will be able to ignore. A great story and one I did not want to see end. There are characters from previous Buck boys books, like Abby and Declan, who bring so much to this story. Kirby is a firecracker of a child, I still want to know how the tap dance recital went with Holden! A great read that I highly recommend.
Single dad, lawyer, fragrance chemist, best friends wife's sister, inexperienced fmc, stepsisters husbands bf, distance pining and so much chemistry.
Rook Thorsen, one of the Buchanan Buck Boys, is a single dad to the most inquisitive, cutest little girl, Kirby. He meets Carrie few months prior through Abby(who is the main character in the prior book). He's been smitten ever since over this uber smart, shy woman. Will one night be enough for these two???? I really liked this one. This was a good addition to the series Buck Boys. I love their chemistry and I can't wait for Milo, Posey, and Holden's story!!!
Rook is the sexy single dad who loves his little girl and his family. These would include the friends he calls the buck boys. Rook has been thinking of the beautiful chemist who had haunted his mind. At his friends wedding he gets close to her and she lifts out her secret, she is a 29 year old Virgin . Carrie cannot believe she blurted that out , she is so embarrassed. Rook knows he wants to be her first and he goes about making that happen. While trying to keep it simple each if the fall for the other. The chemistry between these two is unbelievable. I love these two together. The whole series had been great to read. My only regret is that I wanted more if all the couples.
I loves Rook and Carrie I couldn’t stop reading this story. First off Carrie’s sister Abby worked for Rook at his law firm. One day Carrie visits her sister at the office and Rook could not take his eyes off of her. Unbeknownst to him it was the same for her. When her sister got married Carrie pet sat for her. While sister Abby was gone on a honeymoon. They started seeing each other, but it was only supposed to be one time, ok two? Lol or until they fell in love. Good story no spoilers. Happy reading
Listen, i get you're horny and busy af and all, but man. Holden was raising that little girl while Rook the dedicated father was around the block screwing Carrie. He always left Kirby with Milo (another manwhore) or with Holden. There wasn't a day where he was all by himself with Kirby teaching her stuff, going to the park.
That's my problem with books like this. Is like Kirby wasn't even in his radar and kids should be always above the lover, I'm sorry but if i have to chose is my fictional kid. Thank you.
I loveeeeee Rook and Carrie!!! She’s a shy little thing, he’s just the right amount of intrigued. Together they are so freaking amazing. I loved them for each other, and Kirby just adds the perfect amount of sassiness and sweetness to their relationship and to the whole story. This book was just so arghhhh - perfect! Hooked me from the very beginning and kept me going until the very end!!!
What more do you need in a book. I really enjoyed this story. Rook is so hot and such a great dad to Kirby. Carrie is a great friend to Telford and her romance with Rook is so romantic and the fact that she waited to lose her virginity and chose him, well what can you say to that?
If you are a romantic and like hot men this is the book for you, enjoy!
Another amazing love story by Deborah Bladon. A definite five star must read. Rook and Carrie are amazing together. From the close friendships secrets that bring them together. And Kirby and her best friend are so sweet. Emotional sweet story that made me both laugh and cry. Can't say enough about how amazing and sweet this book is! You are an amazing author you rock!!
Was this book about Rook and Carrie, Telford and Cam, or Kirby? I loved Rood and Carrie's dynamics as well as the premise of the story. I didn't enjoy Telford and his constant verbal diarrhoea about 'the proposal'. I liked Kirby for the most part, I'm not a fan of precocious kids who inject themselves in every aspect of a relationship.
Love at first sight? Carrie, Abbey's sister, meets Declan's best friend Rook again at their wedding and shares an intimate secret with him. As Rook already fancies Carrie, decides to meet up to arrange a means of assisting her with her life goals. Sweet story, plenty of heated moments.
Wow, what a beautiful emotional experience. These Buck Boys, certainly know how to love. The effort that Rook put into action to get Carrie to see him as more, is so unexpected. Beautifully written story ❤️, loved it.
This excellent addition to the Buck Boys Series is entertaining, and engaging, with chemistry, and drama. The MCs are defined, perfect for one another, and a casual arrangement becomes more. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Loved this book! This entire series has been the best read and I believe Rook's story was the best! I hate to see the series end but I know Ms. Bladon will bring the best books to the table. Well done!
Rook and Carrie circled around each other, then fate found them loving each other. The adventure around the family and with family, friends is always rocky until the clouds clear tears cried and love prevails. A good read a page turner.
A long awaited story that didn’t disappoint. I simply love Deborah’s writing style and her way to bring each character to life. I loved every page, and urge you to read this book!
3.5 ⭐️. I enjoyed the slow burn but when they “fall in love” immediately after having sex that’s a big no for me. The nonstop talk about Telford’s proposal ideas nearly outdid the actual storyline. And the misunderstanding at the end was ridiculous.
You will enjoy the sweet, tender romance between the two MC. I love the way Rook cherished Carrie and made her feelings/happiness a priority. A cute twist towards the end left me wanting more details and a sequel with Al’s story.
Carrie seemed kind of weird and her dialogs were often very awkward. Rook was a little better but he seemed to throw money and power around too frequently. Kirby was pretty adorable.
3.5 stars. I really enjoyed Rook and Carrie‘s story. Her BFF/coworker took up way to much space in the story though. His only personality trait was trying to set up a proposal, that got really boring after a while.
Everyone of Deborah Bladon’s books are a favorite. Rook was right up there. I loved the story and the Rook and Carrie. As always Deborah intertwines the friends and family and it’s always a lovely fit.
Cute, and low angst, but I just didn’t feel the spark or intensity btw the characters. It seemed surface level, but Kirby was cute, but some of her scenes were a bit repetitive or repetitive vibes? Idk. Either way, not bad
Outstanding! These characters felt real, and their emotions were sprawled across the pages with incredible writing. I can never get enough of a Bladon book.
