So first of all, the dedications were on point! And Charlie? That man’s mouth will have you blushing! The spice is this book will have your toes curling! Now, the plot does get pretty heavy at one point and the author does a great job showing you exactly what our fmc, Haedyn, is feeling and going through. But while it is heavy and deep, the fmc has an amazing support group and completely turns things around in her favor. She is a wilder card and a complete fire cracker and her man Charlie knows exactly how to handle her! In the best ways! 🥵

This book focuses on a small town girl named Haedyn trying to make ends meet with a diner job and a snapshot account on the side. This snapshot account allows her to take sexy pictures and sell them to her clients. Life seems to be going pretty smoothly for her. Shes making ends meet and she has met a pretty sweet guy named Charlie. Although she hasn’t actually met up with him. Haedyn had been through some pretty rough things in her life so committing and allowing someone else control scares her. But Charlie isn’t giving up easily. He pushes his way into haedyns life and shows her exactly what it means to be loved and cared for. Especially when things take a turn for the worst and his loyalty to her is tested when her past comes to knock her down to her knees emotionally. This is a really heavy but sweet and spice book and definitely worth the read!
The plot definitely hits you out of left field toward the end!

The things this man says will have you blushing! 🥵

This was a quick spicy read but don’t get me wrong the plot does get heavy at a point. However the author does an excellent job showing what our FMC is feeling/going through while making the connection with our MMC stronger.

In this book our FMC, Haedyn, who is barely making ends meet works a job and has a snapshot account on the side. Snapshot account allows her to take sexy pictures and sell them to clients. Which she met our MMC, Charlie, on a dating site and is to afraid to finally meet him in person. That’s a big step for Haedyn who has been through some pretty rough things in her life so committing and allowing someone else control scares her. But Charlie won’t give up easy!

This is officially my favorite small town romance. Charlie is so swoon worthy for so many reasons. Throughout the how story he was whatever Haedyn needed him to be at any point in time. He was her lover, comforter, and very willing partner in crime. I love that this small town romance had dark elements to it. So glad I read this!

This book was amazing. While it's classified as a dark romance it not dark in the way you would think. It just has some dark tendencies. Let's just say there is a lot of woman empowerment in this one!

Snapshot is a story filled with so many emotions ranging from happiness and love to betrayal and extreme hurt.
The MMC, Charlie, is protective, caring, and down bad for the FMC, Haedyn. Haedyn is a wild card and Charlie is ready for anything she throws his way.

This story was super spicy and an overall good and quick read that touched on heavier and darker topics but handled them with care that gave strength and power to Haedyn after her life was flipped upside down due to a traumatic event. Haedyn is incredibly strong and doesn’t follow the traditional damsel in distress role. She instead takes matters into her own hands as she copes and heals with the support of her best friend and Charlie.

There is:
-Spicy dom/brat relationship
-Morally gray main characters
-Darker romance (good for people just getting into dark romance but not ready for super dark yet)
-Small town/cowgirl romance
-Healing after trauma (read trigger warnings before going into the story)
-Female empowerment
-Revenge

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an ARC of this book! I really enjoyed it!!

Haedyn is our independent FMC - working multiple jobs to support herself, one being posting to her regulars on a spicy site. When she accidentally sends a spicy picture to Charlie, the guy she’s been talking to for months (over the phone), she’s content with ghosting him & never speaking to him again out of embarrassment.

But that won’t fly with Charlie - he knows what he wants & will find a way to make Haedyn his. After showing up at her job & convincing her to give him a chance, you think everything is going great between the two of them.

Until something super traumatic happens to Haedyn & their world is flipped upside down. Leaning on Charlie & her best friend, she must find a way to cope & heal.

But the thing about Haedyn is, she will not be seen as weak or let this dictate how she is going to live the rest of her life. When the justice system is of no help, she takes matters into her own hands.

Charlie is an absolute saint - knowing exactly what she needed & treating her with the upmost respect after what happens. He helped her find her strength.

SHEESH: the spice in this book is everything!! 🥵🌶️ & while this is a darker book (check those triggers), there were plenty of LOL moments & their banter was great!

Small town romance ✔️
Cowgirl romance ✔️
Darkish romance ✔️

This book checks all the boxes!

Will definitely be recommending this to my bookish friends!

I did NOT expect the ending on this book. AT ALL. Holy wow. It shocked me. This was a quick read but includes some dark elements such as stalking and assault. It includes a lot of emotional moments. It also includes a great love story and a dom/sub relationship which frequently switches and I loved seeing that aspect as well. Well done, worth a read!

I want to thank the author for the eARC opportunity!

This is quick, spicy, and has a plot! This novella has some triggering content so please read those before diving in!

Haedyn and Charlie’s relationship was a very explosive and passionate one! The spice was spicing, and the dom/sub was amazing. The mouth on the both of them have will make you blush.

But the heart that Charlie has while Haedyn goes through something traumatic, really made my heart melt. He was the perfect guy (well until the bedroom of course 😉).

Go read this book once it’s released! It was such a good book and an amazing palate cleanser for my next read.

This one was a good small town romance with hints of dark romance tied in. Who doesn't like a kickass MFC who's strong, independent and living life? The MMC was hot, dark, steamy, with a touch of stalkerish vibes. When she mistakenly sends him a racy picture of herself, she knows immediately that she messed up and is extremely embarrassed. She sells pics of herself in various poses on social media to supplement her income, and he supports her knowing full well that she is his. This book is spicy, hot and a super quick read.
It does not lack charming characters or have weak characters. The book also does not lack plot or twists.

Will be recommending!

5/5 ⭐️ 5/5 🌶️ • I love a good morally grey main character, and in this book that would be the independent and all around badass FMC Haedyn. She is rough around the edges and is emotionally scarred to a fault, but she begrudgingly learns that a “happily ever after” is one thing she doesn’t have to protect herself from.

Charlie is the MMC that is seemingly a classic cinnamon roll/golden retriever type of character, but later shows he is actually more of a German shepherd - fiercely loyal and protective to no end.

What I love most about this book is how Charlie never tries to swoop in and save Haedyn himself. He recognizes her independence and encourages her to do what she needs to do to - save herself. Haedyn is not the damsel in distress, she is the storm to fear.

**This book depicts a unique but insightful perspective to those that are victims of an attempted crime and realistically portrays the emotions and sometimes even guilt that some people experience in those situations. It resonated deeply in me, which made me fall in love with the book even more. 🤍

*Taking Care of Everything* is a captivating and refreshingly real story about Haedyn Brider, a fiercely independent young woman navigating the complexities of life, love, and self-reliance. Haedyn has crafted a life for herself by juggling multiple responsibilities—working at a local dairy bar and selling pictures to her SnapShot account to make ends meet. Her dedication to her animals and herself is admirable, making her a relatable and strong protagonist who defies traditional expectations.

The plot takes an intriguing turn when a mishap occurs with Haedyn’s “situationship,” Charlie. A private picture, meant for one of her clients, is accidentally sent to him, causing embarrassment and forcing Haedyn to make a rash decision: ghosting Charlie. Her attempt to brush off the situation and move on with her life is met with unexpected persistence from Charlie, raising the question—can she trust him with her heart as she continues to navigate the challenges in her life?

The tension between Haedyn’s pride and her growing feelings for Charlie creates a compelling emotional journey. The author skillfully explores themes of vulnerability, trust, and self-sufficiency, while also illustrating the impact of social media on modern relationships. Haedyn’s internal struggle between her need for independence and her desire for connection with Charlie is beautifully written, capturing the complexities of balancing love and personal ambition.

This story is perfect for readers who enjoy character-driven plots with a mix of humor, heart, and moments of introspection. The chemistry between Haedyn and Charlie keeps the reader invested, while Haedyn’s journey of self-discovery and emotional growth adds depth to the narrative.

Overall, *Taking Care of Everything* is a heartfelt and engaging read that delves into the delicate balance between self-reliance and the willingness to open up to love. Fans of contemporary romance will find Haedyn's journey both relatable and inspiring, and the story's resolution leaves a satisfying sense of growth and hope.

4 stars!
The more I sat on this book, the more I liked it.
Some dark aspects so definitely be mindful of that.

This spicy scenes were done soooo well!
Can we all swoon for Charlie for a second.. <3
The mouth on that man was HOT! He had a way with words and also knew how to show the cat some love!
"Bitch, I’m being dead serious. He ate it so good that I fucking blacked out" this line made me laugh out loud!
“Do you think I’m too innocent to get my hands dirty?” SHEEEEESH

On a more serious note, I really enjoyed the story line and the deeper meaning behind it. This book really embraced the idea of your own power and consent. We follow Haedyn who works as a waitress but also has a sexy account on SnapShot where she sells pictures of herself for extra money. **Small SPOILER** Later she is assaulted by someone she has history of hooking up with over the years. I this this is where the deeper connection is made. You are allowed to show your body and not be touched. You are allowed to hook up with someone and not want to do it anymore. Those things should not have repercussions. HOWEVER, if you assault someone you SHOULD have all the terrible things coming to you.

Lastly, I will leave you with the authors note at the end of the book.

"Just because someone else tries to claim that your story is not “rough enough” or “traumatic enough” does not mean your feelings are invalid."

Let me start by saying this was an amazing debut novel! The cover while beautiful is deceiving in how sweet it seems because there are definitely some dark parts in this book. Haedyn and Charlie as a couple is exactly what I love he takes care of her but she is also stubborn and tough and doesn’t need him to take care of her. Some dark things happen in this book where Charlie shows just how well he can care for Haedyn and that is when she knows he is the right person for her. Charlie’s mouth will have you blushing, but so will Haedyn’s. The spicy scenes in this were hot!! I love that Charlie forced Haedyn out of her shell for him he knew she had feelings for him and he made her face them because he felt the same for her. All the growth and support in their relationship was end game and so amazing. As a mainly dark romance reader I really did enjoy this book. I can’t wait to read more by Scarlet.

By Scarlett J. Aimer

This was a very different kind of romance read. I would really say it has suspense, thriller and romance elements. The summery really don’t explain much but the warnings for the book at the beginning will definitely give away some of what to expect. While I wouldn’t call this a “dark” book the one element at the end could be considered dark. I would have loved more insight into both characters we get a few things but no where near enough for me to fully connect with the characters.

There is some sub/Dom portrayed in the book. With Harden being very bratty. There was a lot of sas back and forth between the two of them that I enjoyed.

The over all message from the book was that trauma and dealing with things is different for everyone. Overall a good quick read for a debut novel. I would rate this a 3.5

Happy release day @Author Scarlett J. Aimer📚 🎉🤩
I’m so thankful to receive this as an ARC 🥰

Review:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really enjoyed it! Haedyn is not a woman you wanna mess with! She’s a BA! And Charlie 😮‍💨 the way he loved her (in every form of the meaning 😏😘) - these two are dynamite! The spicy scenes were one of the best I’ve read, very balanced with being descriptive but not overly descriptive. I’m relatively new to dark romance so I appreciated that it didn’t make me cringe (okay I might be a little on the conservative side too) 🫣 the chemistry between the main characters were 🔥 and I felt like story developed well!

Thank you Scarlett for allowing me to read your book! Congrats on your release! I hope you know that I adore you 🫶🏻😘 #arc #arcreader #smalltown #darkromance #releaseday #bookishmama #bookishwife #bookreview

This book was a ride from start to finish!

It starts out pretty sweet. You fall in love with Charlie and Haedyn as people. Then, you fall in love with them as a couple. Haedyn is scared and closed off a bit, but that doesn't stop Charlie from burrowing into her heart.

Charlie is a cinnamon roll with a touch of *touch her and die*. He is so accepting and loving, but if you mess with Haedyn, you better run.

I loved watching these characters grow together and on their own. Especially Haedyn learning to accept that she is worthy of love.

Oh! While reading this book, I was like it isn't really dark, but when you get a bit through it, you realize it is. Haha I wouldn't want to get on either of their bad sides.

Oh oh! Who doesn't love some kink rep!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I cannot wait to see what Scarlett comes out with next!

Miss Scaaaarlett…you just went and wrote a hell of a book!!

For this being a shorter story, (212 pages,) you crammed in so much good stuff…devoured this.

Charlie and Haedyn’s story is nowhere near a typical love story and THATS what sells this. There’s no 3rd act break up and quite honestly that would have ruined this.

Haedyn is the FMC we all want to be in our own lives and we all want a Charlie by our side..or on top…or behind..maybe under 🤷🏻‍♀️

His golden retriever persona matched with his German shepherd heart and multiplied by his filthy mouth…every grown ass woman’s wet dream.

I could not have loved this more..congrats to you love for SUCH a great read!

This was an amazing read. What should have taken me 2-3 days to read took me about a week. It was so good that I had to prolong the ending so I could stay in the world just a bit longer. The characters were lovable and caring. When push came to shove, they were there for one another. While reading, I couldn't help but feel like I was transported into this story, observing everything the characters were doing.

Loved this book so much! Never thought I’d enjoy a small town romance so much but throw some spice in it?! I’m in!!! The plot at the end took me out because I wasn’t expecting that at all. The mouth on Charley is 🥵 and haedyns story will surely have you wanting a good ending for her which I think she definitely got. All in all, this dark small town romance was just what I needed to get out of a slump!

I liked the premise until the end. I don’t think they should have murdered that guy just f***ed him up real bad so he could never walk or talk again. Mmmmh that’s bad too! 😂 I was just surprised at the ending. And I guess it wasn’t what I was expecting. Her parental difficulties were not really explained or maybe I just missed it.

Okay Story

This story about Haedyn and Charlie had a lot going on. They meet online and somewhat develop a relationship. She texts him something accidentally, thinks he’ll judge her, and basically tries to ghost him. He’s infatuated with her and won’t let that slide. There’s a somewhat Dom/sub side in here, too. Then you add in the “disturbing” part of the story and it’s just a lot at times. I did just skim over pages at different points.

It gets three stars since I did finish the book. I think this author has room to grow as a writer and I wish her the best.
