After years of counseling engaged and married couples, the Rienow's realized that most Christian couples did not have a biblical mission and purpose for their family. The couples had leared some things about communication, sexuality, and conflict resolution. But they didn't know WHY God had brought them toether. Visionary Marriage will reveal that God does have a plan and a purpose for marriage and family in the Bible. The focus is on the big-picture purpose for marriage, and the goal of being seccessful once understanding the purpose. The Rienow's give insightful marriage advice meant to draw a couple closer to God and to each other. The book includes practical discussion on topics faced in every relationship. Each chapter ends with discussion questions to be used as food for thought or for group discussions.
I have read a plethora of marriage related books. When I began reading this one, I felt it was the same as all the rest...I didn't find anything that stood out -- until I got to the part where they delved into the roles of husband and wife according to Ephesians 5. From that point on, I was grateful that they wrote the book so I could read it. If you're looking for a book that will challenge your core beliefs about why you are married and push you to determine whether your beliefs are biblical or cultural, this book is right up your alley.
The best book on Christian Marriage that I have read. The concepts in here have changed how I treat, talk to, and think about my wife and the direction of our family. Looking forward beyond a week or two isn't natural but the motivation and tactics in this book have changed our family into one that sets our own direction and isn't simply reacting and adapting all the time to the world around us.
This book will challenge your beliefs on marriage and the roles that God set aside for husbands and wives.
"When God created the wife as a helper, He did not create a second-class citizen. He created a co-worker. He created the wife with equal value, equal worth, and equal dignity to help with the mission of her husband. "
This book was EXCELLENT. One of the best books on marriage that I have ever read. I had the privilege of going to a Visionary Marriage and Parenting Conference at First Baptist Indian Trail, NC. It was immensely helpful and theologically so solid. SDG

Rob and Amy reminds the reader of the why of a godly marriage and the why of having children to advance the kingdom of God. An excellent reminder not to get caught up in the things of this world but to place a kingdom focus on our spouse and children to the glory of God.
My husband and I went through this book with our Bible study and really enjoyed it! Easy to read and eye opening for sure! We highly recommend it. It has something for every marriage, whether you've been married 6 months or 60 years!
