Learn how to view the world through the eyes of Steve Jobs, and you'll be thinking like a true innovator in no time
A titan of technological innovation, Steve Jobs thought differently than everyone else. He had the mercurial ability to know what people wanted before they knew it themselves, and what's more, he knew how to sell that idea. An advocator of good design in both function as well as appearance, his influence in Silicone Valley changed the way the world thinks about technology. But how did he achieve such success? What were his methods? How to Think Like Steve Jobs reveals the philosophies and carefully honed skills Jobs used in his journey to the top and in the consolidation of Apple's unique place in the public consciousness. With his thoughts on innovation, how to find inspiration, presenting an idea, advertising, and much more, you can delve into the mind of the master.
This was a Christmas present and so far I am finding it really interesting. Daniel Smith has peppered the book with plenty of words of wisdom from the man himself. I will review properly when finished...
UPDATE: Finished reading 3 Jan 2014.
This book is divided into two sections; 'Get to the top' and 'Stay at the top' and is basically a biography of Steve Jobs which draws on his experiences to show how to get and stay 'at the top' in business. It gives us an insight into the way Steve Jobs worked, his philosophies and how he learned, not just through success, but through his failures too. We find out about who he worked with, the inspiration for some of his most successful projects and gain an insight into what others in his field thought of him.
If you want to find out more about his business life and what drove Steve Jobs then this is a great quick, easy read, even if you are not a fan of the man. You may even take away some tips to use in your own business.
I really like the book cover too - it seems to capture the essence of the great man and Apple.
Such a good, insprirational book as every young adults must read. This book is a quite detailed Steve Jobs's life which has 2 parts:"how to reach on the top" and "how to stay on the top as long as possible". The book is quite easy to read and understand, I can take away some motivated messages and some other tips for my own business in the future. A great read of a fantastic man.
A short but concise peak at the amazing life of the Genius of the 21st Century; Steve Jobs. A visionary of world class. Never compromising and always striving for excellence. Settling with nothing except the best of work. Jobs; a man of excellent taste in all; art, music, life. Loved keeping things simple as possible but remarkable. Held more than 300 patents over his life. I particularly loved the dedicated section of this book in which the author has mentioned about specific details like Steve's mentors, books, his past works and so on. A peek at Steve bookshelf is confirming that he was a highly spiritual being restricting his diet to a strict Vegan. Not only that, it's even more surprising that he used to fast and walk barefooted inside apple. An excellent Entrepreneur. One of my mentors. Quotes 1) Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.
2) You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.
3) Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
Fast paced book. Rarely i finish a book in such less time. No beating around the bush. Very direct approach in writing. Recommend reading for those who wish to understand more about Steve Jobs. One quote has stayed with me "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" But not everything is fine. I felt at some places, the author has a taken a little liberty in judging Mr. Steve Jobs personality by just citing one incident and that too very briefly.
Overall, a good read. Reader will be inspired after finishing the book, as how much a person can achieve in his/ her life despite facing such hurdles.
Steve Jobs ile ilgili derin bilgi almak isterseniz Walter Isaacson'un Steve Jobs kitabını öneririm.
#Review# ‘How to think like Steve Jobs’ by Daniel Smith A small, but a brief description of the peak of the amazing entrepreneur, genius, motivator, and a tech giant of the 21st century; Steve Jobs. He has more than 300 patents in his entire life and as we can see, it’s the best use of life and time. I think how to live the best life, he's a remarkable example of all time.
🍁This book has two parts, the first one is ‘How to reach the top’ and the second one is ‘How to stay on top as long as possible’. 🍁I personally found that this book is easy to read and understand. In my view, this book contains some greatest quotes of all time, viz: 🍁 1) “Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life, don't let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice and most important, have the courage to follow your heart." We all are trapped by what people will think and the real problems start here. 🍁 2) “I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself if today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today? And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” 🙌🙌 🍁 3) "Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick; don't lose faith." ✨✨ It is such a good and inspirational book, which I think everyone should definitely read in their early 20s.
While this book contains Steve Jobs' strategy on "How to Get to the Top" and "How to Stay at the Top" and is a concise exploration of Steve Jobs' career, it might not resonate with all readers. The book's structure, with each chapter presenting a separate life lesson, may feel disconnected for some, including myself. A more effective approach could have been to integrate these lessons into a chronological narrative, illustrating Jobs' evolution from early setbacks to later successes. Additionally, the abundance of characters, companies, and conglomerates mentioned was too overwhelming for me and difficult to keep track of. Streamlining the focus to include only the most significant individuals in Jobs' life could improve clarity and readability. Despite these criticisms, the book does offer valuable insights into the factors contributing to Jobs' remarkable success. Nonetheless, I think the book really taught me some key ways to approach life, especially in my final year in Middle school. When reading it over the Winter Break, I think it really taught me some ways to prioritize what you need to in the next semester and give each assignment your best shot.
I was going to give this book 2 stars, but I gave it 4 for the sake of the legendary man in this book. I had a lot of hopes for this book, at the first glance it looked like a self-help kind of book, and probably filled with all kinds of practical techniques and ways to harness for the development of oneself. But unfortunately, it was just an autobiography of this imminent man called Steve Jobs.
So if you're going to grab to this book, I recommend that you don't put a lot of hopes on it, because all you gonna read is some important dates and events in the life of Steve Jobs, and That's about it.
On the other hand, I enjoyed diving in the life of such a genius, I enjoyed reading about this out-of-our-time giant. The man who changed the course of technology way before any other technology giant could have ever done. The iPod, iPad, iMac, and finally the iPhone were things that belonged to a time long after our time! But, somehow, they managed to see light, thanks to Jobs.
The author has focused more into Steve Jobs and Apple. I was hopping to know more about him, and his lifestyle. Yet the book is not really bad, but a little bit boring, I admit. Fun fact I didn't know Steve was actually Syrian, but adopted. Hence I wasn't surprised; inventions always began by the blood of Arabs, luckily with Steve innovation is now a thing to add too!
Rest in peace Jobs, you will always remain in our hearts.
There’s probably no spoiler in saying this book is about Steve Jobs - and that we all know how the story ends :). While Isaacson’s biography is more precise and focused as a true life story, this book centers on Jobs’ achievements, framing them as a story of success. It’s an engaging read not only for tech enthusiasts but also for tech leaders. The source material of this book is from public sources rather than exclusive interviews, but it still provides an interesting overview of Jobs’ legacy.
Be peaceful with things that surrounds us Success in your work is brilliant for world But in the person life being connected to his family is what the person leave behind in the world for there love ones . Connect the dots you can connect the dots by looking at your past experience and not of future.
this book is very inspirational it tells a lot about steve jobs and his successes and failures. there is a timeline to show the journey of steve jobs. this book has taught me how to not get angry for a small reason.
Michelangelo said, “Every block of stone has a statue inside it, and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.” Every person is like that block of stone, there's greatness inside, but it has to be carved out.
This book is so inspiring. It also proves that every person has some good or bad inside him/her and nobody can be completely 'perfect'. Whether they are rich or poor, from whatever background they may be from.
This is a one to two day of reading kind of book. It's rich with facts, important must-know information about Jobs, his way of thinking, his perspective & sights of his world. A great book & very easy to read. I recommend this one for everyone!
I just finished reading this book: How to think like Steve Jobs by Daniel Smith. The reason I started reading this book was to get some inspirations and motivation. Well, I got it.
