Pandraxians #2

Conquering the Alien Commander: A SciFi Alien Romance

Rate this book
Whatever it takes, I will never leave HER!

ASHLEY: Taken by the Cryons during a rescue mission gone wrong, I thought my life was over. I prepared myself to die on an alien planet, swearing I would take some of the hateful Cryons with me.
But a chance to escape leads me right into the arms of the Pandraxian’s superior commander, who claims I’m his mekarry—soulmate. He is the most handsome man I have ever seen but I’m not sure I’m ready to surrender myself to him. I’m a marine and Earth still needs its fighters.

XANDROS: Going to Colynth to smooth things over with King Crough is the last thing I wanted to do. Finding a merrily—female—tied to my bed, and another holding a blaster to my head, I expected even less.
Most of all though, I never would have thought I’d find my mekarry in her.
Now I just need to figure out how to make the stubborn merrily understand that she is MINE, as well as a way for us to stay together.

3.5 stars. Ashley, the female human soldier lead, tried to coordinate a response when aliens invaded Earth. Unsuccessful, she’s captured and taken to what she realises is a new planet. Determined not to give up, she escapes but remains hidden in the compound, learning everything she can. When she sees a different type of alien escape with a human he clearly cares for, she decides to wait for another of his kind and approach him.

Xandros, the male alien commander of armed forces lead, is miffed that the actions of another leading government official (his friend) require him to visit a hated trading partner’s planet. When he finds Ashley threatening him in his room, he’s shocked and, initially, angry. But there’s an attraction between them that can’t be denied…

As they work together to provide Earth with options, Xandros realises Ashley is his fated mate. Now he just needs to convince her, find a way to make her want to keep him around, and help give humans a solution to their captors.

This story is dual POV, well written, and an interesting sci fi romance. As with the first in this series, I struggled with the first 20% of the story. But, persevering, I found an interesting story with two strong warrior characters. I enjoyed that Xandros was aware of the depth of his feeling first, and that he was willing to do whatever Ashley needed to facilitate the relationship. I enjoyed Ashley’s determination to make things better for humans and to find a solution for both her people and Xandros’ people. I enjoyed the intimate scenes. I appreciated the clever simplicity of the solution. I’m looking forward to the last story in the series.

Awesome Action Adventure !! . . .

Ashley Whitton was in the Marine Corps, rising in the ranks to Lieutenant. And now Cryons have appeared to wreak havoc on the Earth. Her team was sent to help evacuate Seattle. Of the 10 squads, she has 2 left because the alien invasion had inexhaustible numbers to overwhelm them. Now the team is trapped and no help is available to them. Night was approaching and hopefully would give them some cover. But an alien drone, the scout that would call the aliens when humans were sighted, just spotted them and Ashley shot it out of the sky. They hid in a different building, still hoping to join up with Sergeant Patterson’s team (6 soldiers and 14 civilians remaining) that should arrive in 2 minutes. While she ordered Patterson to get the civilians to safety, she took out as many of the arriving alien Cryons as possible before she was captured.

Xandros Callicapos , the Commander of the Superior Imperial Forces, is ordered by emperor Daryus to meet with and calm down the Cryon King Crough after Garth, lord protector and best friend of both Daryus and Xandros, has stirred things up by killing several Cryons, destroying one of their laboratories, and stealing away their prisoners. No one liked the Cryons, but it was necessary for everyone to do business with them. So Xandros would have to keep the peace and calm them down. But when he got there, King Crough had left! What was going on? As he landed on the planet, he saw Cryon transporters unloading hundreds of a species he had never seen before! If they had intelligence, this was not legal. None looked to be in good condition. But he was told by General Doryngh, King Crough’s armed forces commander, that King Crough left to gift one to Emperor Daryus; and one would be sent to Xandros’ room to “sample”. As he returned to his room, he found a woman on his bed, hands cuffed behind her, and squirming in obvious discomfort, apparently having been given an aphrodisiac to “prepare” her for him! A female voice behind him took him by surprise – and this one held a blaster to his head! But her clothing and collar on her neck implied the one holding the blaster was also a slave. (Ashley had been waiting for the new arrival, knowing what the Cryons had tried with Lord Protector Garth that put him in a rage to destroy the lab.) Will she and Xandros share their information and try to take down the Cryons or expose their insidious plans? And could Xandros convince Ashley that she is his mate?

Action-packed and suspenseful story will keep the reader’s full attention in this well-written descriptive story line. Ashley’s adventure is only just beginning. But her courage may be exactly what Xandros needs to find out the ugly truth of what the Cryons are up to!

I love suspending reality and reading about smart woman, in space, with the skill set to defend herself but, alas, there are a few things that I wanted to comment on. Her western culture myopia made her seem detracted from her intelligence (which is a shame) and would confuse the aliens about life and species' interactions on planet earth.
First Comment
“We have many different species on Earth and races, and they do war with each other, just like you describe in your Union. Mostly, the superpowers on Earth stay out of it, but every once in a while, one steps in..."

1) In this scenario, I think she is talking the "human" race--as far as the aliens are concerned. Not sure why she had to discuss the western world's social construct around race since they weren't discussing the GTU societies' self-generated informal or formal rules about what they see (i.e., perception) and how to act & treat others (i.e., discrimination).

2) Also, what other "species" is she talking about who engages in war with humans where a superpower has to step in?

Second Comment
The statement she made before the above comment, has me questioning how she defining "species":
"Ensuring that the Eggledars stop eating other species outweighed , and that was the compromise on this particular vote.”

Ashley made a face and put the square of food she picked up back down. “Eating other species?”
“I’m not sure what to tell you. In many ways Earth is similar to your GTU, except”—she gave me a wry smile—“we’ve evolved from eating each other.”

1) Not sure how Eggledars eating "other" species translate into "we've evolved from eating each other" [...humans(?)] [...races(?)].
2)The human species/race [Homo Sapiens] eats other earth flora and fauna species on our planet all the time (even vegans). I know she meant sentient but next time say sentient since we are all flora & fauna from earth. Am I missing something? Just providing suggestions for any future books.

She had others lapses including that all of earth's population was modern and industrialized which then leaves out the Amish as well as many tribes (over 100) in the Amazon rainforest, Westen Australia, New Guinea and an island off of India--they all continue living by their old ways without use of technology. I might be nitpicking on this one.

This is book 2 and i’m just as thrilled with this one as I was the first book and who doesn’t love a strong independent woman who holds her own and never gives up and a strong Commander who is equally match with the woman that is his mekarry soulmate and so this is Ashley and Xandros story. Ashley is a US Marine and has been fighting for 5 days against the Evil Cryons who have invaded Earth and have now along with millions have been captured and taken to the mother ship where they are treated like cattle and have implants inserted in they brain and experimented on as well and some females are sold off as pleasure slaves or killed for food. Superior Commander Xandros has been sent by his best friend the Emperor to see the King Crough and smooth things over after Garth went off the rails but he had already left to see the Emperor and what he see’s is a heap of human females coming off the mothership and was asked if he wanted one for company while he here and when he gets to his room the is a female tied to his bed but he is shocked by the blaster at his head and the gorgeous female wielding it that turns out to be his mekarry soulmate Ashley and soon learns the truth about what is really going on and was show the labs as well and he is furious and now understands why Garth went off and needs to tell Emperor straight away and so he makes to leave and together with Ashley that rescue some females as well. He tells her she is his soulmate but she still needs to help her people back on Earth to stop it from happening to anybody else. There is so much more to this fantastic book and is definitely a must read.

Ashley is a LT of the Marine Corp and she and her units have been trying to protect the humans in the five days since the aliens attacked Earth. There is no rhyme or reason for those that they choose to take on their shuttles off world. They destroyed the major cities and all of the known bases. The Cryons take the humans and treat them like cattle. Some are given shots of translators straight into the brain stem, while others are experimented on. Plus, there are a lot of other horrifying things done to them. To the Pandraxians, the Cryons are a necessary evil, and most of the peoples in the Galactic Union would conquer Earth if they found it too. The books are so good, and the descriptions actually made me feel nauseous in some places. Superior Commander Xandros is friends with the Emperor and Garth, the three of them had grown up together. So the Emperor sends Xandros to the Cryons to try and fix things, but the King of the Cryons heads off to see the Emperor, and Xandros figures out just what the Cryons & King Crough are up to with the humans. Ashley got away from the Cryons and has been learning a lot while hiding and when Xandros gets to his accommodations, she tells him and shows him what she knows. Like Garth, he is livid.

As Ashley and Xandros are warriors, they don’t get along at first, because it takes a while for Xandros to trust people, same for Ash. There is a lot of horrifying things that happen in this book. But, it is also funny, steamy and romantic as well. There are also power plays and intrigue and politics, which aren’t as fun. The fight scenes are awesome as well. I really love this series and this book was a lot of fun. I can’t wait to find out what happens next and how the Cryons finally get theirs.

"Conquering the Alien Commander" by Bella Blair is a thrilling sci-fi novel that delivers an entertaining and gripping alien encounter narrative. From the first page, Blair hooks readers with an irresistible storyline that keeps them eagerly flipping pages until the very end. One of the novel's standout features is its portrayal of a strong female protagonist who defies stereotypes by showcasing intelligence, bravery, and resilience. Instead of relying on the tired trope of a damsel in distress, Blair presents readers with a military woman who commands respect and admiration.

Moreover, the dynamic between the female protagonist and the male lead is expertly crafted, with Blair skillfully navigating the complexities of their relationship. Despite the otherworldly nature of the male protagonist, Blair manages to make their connection believable and engaging, adding depth to the story.

Overall, "Conquering the Alien Commander" is a captivating read that combines heart-pounding action, intriguing alien encounters, and well-developed characters. It's a testament to Bella Blair's talent for storytelling and her ability to create a world that feels both fantastical and familiar. Sci-fi enthusiasts and romance lovers alike will find much to enjoy in this engaging novel.

Conquering the Alien Commander

This is the second book in the series and it's lots of fun. It starts out with two timelines going on that join up part way through. If you are reading this book right after the first book, you'll enjoy these first lines from the MMC,

“He did what?” I barked, still half asleep, thinking I might have misheard my emperor.

“He killed several Cryons, destroyed one of their laboratories, stole a bunch of prisoners, and is on his way back to Pandrax,”

The end of book one ends a little after this and the author does a good job of bringing it all together.

The two main characters come together with some great sparks. From the MMC’s point of view,

“You are an insufferable, arrogant ass,” she spat out.

“One who hasn’t needed to resort to profanities,” I pointed out. For some reason the angrier she got, the more it aroused me, cooling my temper.

She narrowed her eyes at me, but nodded tightly. “You’re right.”

It was my turn to narrow my eyes at her. “What?”

“You heard me. I apologize for calling you names, since your fragile ego doesn’t seem to take those very well.”

She is entirely unintimidated by him, or anything, which is really fun to watch.

I'm looking forward to the emperor getting his mekarry and how she handles his temper.

There's hope for humans to survive in this book as the continuing invasion of the Cryons over take Earth. Xandros and Ashley's soulmate bond brings new hope for the Pandraxians find their soulmates and humans a means of help fight or escape the invaders.
Ashley is a human soldier in the US military when the aliens, Cryons, invaded. She captured and taken prisoner. She's a strong, intelligent, well trained soldier. She escapes and observes the Cryons, learning what they're up to. She meets Xandros, the Superior Imperial Forces Commander of Pandraxians military. They butt heads at first but Xandros learns quickly that Ashley is his soulmate. There's nothing he wouldn't do for her. It's the soulmate connection that convince the Emporier to send help in a form of diplomatic trade.
I couldn't put this book down and can't wait to see what come next in this series. I loved that Ashley was tough and able to care of herself. Xandros was protective of Ashley but despite his protectiveness, he allowed her to put herself in danger for the good of her people and was willing to leave his post of power to be with the woman he loves.

Darkness Level: 🤍
Heat Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Genre: Sci-Fi romance
POV: Dual
Ending: HEA

I enjoyed this second installment to this series even more than the first. Xandros and Ashley are fantastic characters, very different than Garth and Silla from book 1. The writing is still absolutely fantastic. I liked getting more info into what the Cryons are actually doing. And getting to go back to Earth and see how things are faring (spoiler: not well). I liked how their relationship developed a bit better than book 1 as well, since Ashley knew early on that embracing her bond with Xandros would be good for her entire planet. I did enjoy, since the storylines of book 1 and book 2 overlap quite a bit, that the mekarry bond was a shock to Xandros and his crew, just as it was with Garth. I can’t wait for book 3, which I believe is focusing on Daryus, our hot-tempered emperor.

I received a copy of the book from the author, but my review is entirely voluntary and honest.

My shelves/tags might be considered spoilers, so look at your own risk!

Conquering the Alien Commander book two continues this excellent storyline with a new couple leading in the assistance to rid Earth of the invading Cryons.
Marine Lieutenant Ashley Whitton was captured and transported to the Cryon world where the human prisoners have become subjects in their evil experiments to create super soldiers.
Ashley manages to escape them but has no way of getting off the planet but does gather precious Intel on their objectives.
Luckily the Pandraxian Emperor has sent Xandros, Commander of the Superior Imperial Forces to the Cryon planet to find out what uproar Lord Protector Garth caused there (book one).
Ashley finds Xandros and though they start off angsty with each other it all changes once aboard his ship and he discovers she is his mekarry (soulmate).
This was another well written narrative with plenty of political intrigue, well crafted characters, action, spicy romance and a perfect addition to the series.
Can’t wait for book 3 because it’s the Pandraxian Emperor’s turn!

In this next book of THE PANDRAXIANS series, the heroine got captured by the aliens that arrived on Earth. Arriving at the alien's home turf, the heroine escaped from her captors and hid to bid her time to find some way to escape. And she found it when the hero arrives to smooth things over after his comrade made a mess. Though the first meeting was not ideal between the hero and the heroine, as they became closer the hero learns that the heroine is his mekarry or soulmate. And thus starts the journey for this particular couple in this series.

This is a solid addition to this Bella Blair series. I enjoyed the independent heroine and the alien hero captivated by this strong individual who is his soulmate. There were parts of the story that made it better than the first book but there were also parts that were not as good as the previous story. The story also has some parts that could have been enriched with more details if they were added. Overall, this ended up being an enjoyable read in an entertaining series. Definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the future.

When Ashley joined the Marine Corps she never expected to be fighting Aliens. The Cryons are decimating Earth by sending it's population in transport pods to larger ships. When Ashley finds herself on one she discovers that the Pandraxians are unhappy with the Cryons so she goes to find evidence on what the Cryons are up to. When Xandros has to go to Corynth he is finds himself face to face with Ashley holding a blaster. When he realises what the Cryons are up to he knows he has to take this back to his Emperor. The attraction between Ashley and Xandros is deep and he realises that she is his Mekarry and hopes that this knowledge and that others are finding their Mekarry amongst the humans they rescued will help in their fight for aid. But politics and red tape have their way and they have to come up with a different plan to help Earth and it's surviving population. With lots of action and drama, this sizzling read has had me hooked from the beginning. I am really loving the Pandraxian series and can't wait for the next installment in the series.

Gleeful Goblin Review: This is still a pretty new series but I gotta say, I'm loving it so far. Book 2 builds on the foundation of Book 1 really well in terms of world building. Our MC's that we follow through the story are phenomenally fun, ESPECIALLY the FMC who is a badáss space marine even if that life isn't necessarily all she wanted it to be. The sparks between these two start as nearly enemies but surrounded by the true villains which forces them to work together to successfully escape. Once that's accomplished sparks fly in more steamy ways thanks to proximity and endless needling of each other until they hit that tension point where frustration turns to passion. Tons of steamy times while they're both figuring out who they are to each other, since they both have drastically different ideas on that front, as well as what to do to keep humanity as safe as possible with Pandraxians assisting. Really engaging story that's easy to breeze through in a sitting. 5/5 Stars.

US Marine Corps Lieutenant Ashley (h) is abducted by the Cryons during an invasion of Earth but is determined to fight back despite the odds and escapes aboard their ship, gathering crucial intel on the Cryons' plans. Meanwhile, Xandros, the Commander of the Superior Imperial Forces for the Pandraxian Empire, is sent to investigate the Cryons' activities. When their paths cross, Ashley and Xandros must overcome their initial animosity as they work together, but Xandros is limited in the aid he can offer Ashley, as the Pandraxians want to avoid all-out war with the Cryons. As they navigate political tensions and personal struggles, Ashley and Xandros discover a deep connection that transcends their differences, and Xandros realizes that Ashley is his mekarry, a soulmate bond his people haven't experienced in a long time. Bella Blair has a flair for writing beautiful stories with amazing world building, intriguing characters, action, adventure, plot twists and passion aplenty. This series is an excellent example of that and the characters in this story are awesome.

Ashley is fighting a losing battle on Earth with grit, determination and grace when she's captured by the Cryons. No hot head, she bides her time and waits for the opportune moment at which point she encounters Xandros.

Xandros is no diplomat and would rather blast the Cryons than negotiate with them. So when his emperor sends him to smooth over an issue he is not prepared to be pleased. However, his first encounter with Ashley is life changing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The characters were endearing and the plot was utterly engrossing. Can't wait for the next book.

This is Ashley, a human in the military on Earth and Xandros an alien Pandraxian Military Commander's story. The story starts with the Cryons, an evil alien race invading the Earth and capturing humans to be used as slaves, experiments, etc. Ashley is captured but escapes and learns of the terrible things Cryons are doing. Around the same time Xandros has to make a trip to the Cryons after an incident with the Pandraxian Lord Protector and the Cryons. Ashley is hiding in the room assigned to Xandros and that is how they first meet. Can Ashley win over Xandros and the Pandraxians to help with Earths plight or is it a lost cause? Will Xandros and Ashley get their HEA or will the chaos around them keep them apart? Check out this riveting tale to find out. You won't be disappointed!

The alien invasion of the cryons is told from a different point of view, this time from someone in the military-Ashley- who is a marine. and they are getting their asses kicked until they get some assistance from the Pandraxians. I liked that the commander was loyal to their relationship and supported her but I feel like some of the conflict was unnecessary. Then this quote that was repeated
"None of us liked the Cryons, but they were the universe’s best traders and a necessary evil to keep the empire fed and happy with its ceaseless demands for exotic goods."
What was the point of advancement if this was all it took them to kowtow? Maybe their emperor should have been looking into that.
The reason I am giving it three stars instead of anything lower is because the commander , Xandros, did what we wish most of our men would.

Love this series!
Xandros wasn't used to someone getting the drop on him, least of all a small female from the new species he spied in the hangar upon his arrival. Even more surprising was being ordered to take advantage of another woman at the end of a blaster. Nope, nothing at all was par for the course. The one thing he did know for certain was that this female intrigued and aroused him.

Ashley had been spying on her abductors since she slipped their noose days ago and she was fairly certain the man she held her blaster on was possibly Earth's only hope. He was also the focus of her unusual desire.

You'll find plenty of adventure, action, and danger in this steamy romance. I loved it.

You think you’re having a hard time in life? Try being a human in this book! Between the Cryon’s capturing, killing and torturing humans, this is definitely not a situation I would want to be in unless I have a sexy alien male ready to protect me.

I thoroughly enjoy reading books with strong women, and Conquering the Alien Commander did not disappoint!

Ashley is the epitome of kick ass from the first page. She’s here to save Earth one way or another, and I’m ready to see what more she contributes to the series.

Xandros is exactly what I imagined from an alien commander and it makes sense why he would want Ashley. I also just love how much he loves her.

Can’t wait to see what happens next!!

I love the story and its a great continuation of the series, I can't wait for the next book. Aliens/Cryons invaded Earth and are slaughtering and kidnapping humans. The military doesn't have the weapons to defeat the aliens and try to rescue as many people as possible. Ash is in the military and is trying to rescue as many people as she and her group can when she is captured and taken to the Cryon planet. She finds a way to blend in and collect information. Xandros is sent to the planet by his emperor to clean up a mess left by his friend. He meets Ash when she holds a blaster on him. Their adventure begins. Couldn't put the book down.

Where do I begin? I absolutely loved this book! The first two chapters were difficult because of the amount of sorrow and pain the people of Earth were going through. This is a full-length novel; give yourself time to absorb the story fully. Xandros is the Commander Protector of the Emporer, and Ashley is a captured human who was a lieutenant in the Marine Corps. I loved their chemistry and how he respects her for her abilities, not just because he is so attracted to her. This is an intense story about hot aliens finding their mates in a species they didn't know existed. It's such a good book! I'm looking forward to the next one.

I received this book as an ARC review copy. Let me tell you. I am a shifter romance girlie through and through, but this was just different and I loved it. I loved the development of the characters with the dual POV. This book took mate bonds to a whole new but plausible level something that you miss in shifter romances. The only thing I had an issue with while reading was the fact that there were words used by the Aliens that I still didn't understand even with context clues. I think a pronunciation chart and definition on the opening page would have been super helpful, but Don't get me wrong I loved the writing and everything about this book.

"They made it, was the last thought that ran through my mind before everything turned black."

Ashley is a US Marine, but when Aliens invade Earth she realizes her oath to serve and protect is not just to one nation, but to her world... but is it to her world as she knows it, or the billions who live on it.

Xandros is in charge of his Emperor's fleet, but he's not about to trigger an intergalactic incident, no matter how much other might try and tempt him to do so.

This done in one Kindle unlimited book is surprisingly fun given the serious topics it covers, perhaps because Ashley is a strong, independent woman, prepared to not only fight for others, but to slip in to spy mode and see what she can learn when she realizes the weapon she is most in need of is knowledge.

"Conquering the Alien Commander," the second book in the Pandraxians series, tells the story of Ashley, a U.S. Marine abducted while fighting against an invasion of Earth by species called the Cryons, and Xandros, a commander from the Pandraxian empire who recognizes her as his soul mate. What I love about this story is that Ashley isn't a helpless victim who needs to be rescued. She is a warrior who sees Xandros as a partner in her fight to save humankind. I also like that Xandros respects her desire to fight and doesn't stop her.

Bella Blair is a masterful writer. This series has an alien race attacking earth and collecting humans to use to feed larvae that they hope will develop into super soldiers. Female marine Ashley kicks ass as the aliens attack but is captured and brought aboard the alien spacecraft . She promptly escapes and spends days spying before she meets Xandros, an enemy of the small gray evil aliens. From then on the two are nearly inseparable and discover they are bonded. Together they arm the humans on earth with the help of his alien race and work towards finding a way to overcome the bad race.

Xandros and Ashley. Ashley is a marine and they are trying to protect the humans after earth is invaded by the Cryons. People are being kidnapped and used as slaves and experiments and they cant figure out how or why or when. Ashley is kidnapped but escapes. When she and Xandroes meet they are leary of each other its hard for them to trust. But when she tells him what is happening to the humans he joins her fight. He soon discovers shes his soulmate. Liked their story had great world building but had some pretty terrible parts.

Terrific Heroine (and story)!!

Lieutenant Ashley Whitton of the Marine Corps is trained for most possibilities. Alien invasion was not one of them. She is keeping her team (mostly) intact, and helping some civilians. She puts herself in the line of fire to assist in their escape.

This takes place in parallel with the prior story in the series, making it “more” fun if you have read both. Politics of the galaxy, survival, subterfuge and a striking Pandraxian; Xandros.

A soul bond that has been lost for generations, brings “value” to the human race. A fascinating and entertaining read!

Ashley is an officer in the Marine Corps, fighting to protect Earth from the Cryons who attracted 5 days earlier. The humans are woefully outnumbered, outgunned, and when they are captured by the Cryons, are treated ass se* slaves. When other members of the Galactic Union come to Earth to monitor what's happening. Superior Commander Xandros finds Ashley and discovers she is his mekarry or soulmate. But his troops walk a precarious line. The book is fast-paced, has well-written characters, has action, drama, steamy and more. A solid read for me.
