Better Off Dead In Paradise
Better Off Dead In Paradise is the sequel to Better Off Dead, which told the story of Frank Granstino, the life insurance salesman from Brooklyn New York, who got trapped by the Vongemi Family Mob into writing life insurance policies on people who ended up dying mysteriously. Frank was in line to get killed to keep him quiet. The FBI managed to save him in the nick of time whereby he became an FBI witness and placed in the Witness Protection Program. The Mob leaders were sent to prison for life. Obviously, the powerful Mob leaders didn't take up knitting in prison but continued to rule a ruthless mob world. Better Off Dead In Paradise takes us to the pristine Cayman islands in the Caribbean, where Frank and Alicia, his girlfriend, a former FBI agent, believe they are safe to live in the Witness Protection Program. Something goes terribly wrong when Frankie and Alicia's witness protection location is compromised. The Mob associates are suddenly in the Caymans blowing up cars and shooting at Frank and Alicia. The story takes us through all three Cayman islands, to New York City, and back to the Caymans. All the while, lives are lost, bullets fly, and Frankie and Alicia are on the run for their lives, once again, from the ruthless Vongemi Mob Family. Dramatic events keep unfolding chapter by chapter, which makes the exciting Better Off Dead In Paradise the page turner book of the decade!

Better Off Dead: In Paradise is a Page-Turning Tour De Force!
John Paul Carinci's new thriller, Better Off Dead: In Paradise surpasses Robert Ludlum and Robert Parker and does it with a flair for turning a Caribbean phrase that Jimmy Buffet would envy! A rich and realistic description of the Cayman Islands is the back drop for this page-turning tour de force.
In the original Better Off Dead, we meet Frank Granstino. Frank is a colorful, likable and very believable insurance salesman from Brooklyn, New York that becomes ensnared with the mafia. In the end Frank and his girlfriend Alicia become part of the witness protection program and are sent to heaven on Earth, the Cayman Islands.
In this new thriller, their cover is blown to smithereens and their world is turned upside down. The Mob will stop at nothing for vengeance. Readers will feel their gut reactions to the world of violence that is the mafia. Better Off Dead: In Paradise is not for the faint of heart. The violence is realistic and vivid. The reader will feel the terror right along with Frank and Alicia.
The terrorized couple is forced to flee through the islands, take a trip to New York, and then travel back to the Caribbean. All the while the bad guys are killing and blowing things up in their relentless hunt for revenge. It is only through Frank's clever nature with the help of Alicia's FBI experience that they are able to stay a step ahead.
Better Off Dead: In Paradise is so richly described and the characters and their dialogue is so realistic that the author must have lived through similar action himself, that or done painstaking research. The book has enough twists and turns to satisfy the most ardent thriller fan. It also has more than enough action to attract any reader. The audience is left to guess breathlessly at the ending and almost any reader will guess wrong!

Better Off Dead is the 1st published mafia fiction novel by John Paul Carinci, who has published 5 books to date. All of John's books are very visual and easy to read, with many chapters. John writes in the first person style of John MacDonald famed writer of the Travis McGee novels.
This book is about a very young Life Insurance agent that unknowingly gets sucked into and used by the Vongemi Mafia Family,to write Life Insurance policies on thier future victims. By the time the young agent catches on, it's too late. And one day he realizes that he will be the next victim of a Vongemi Mob hitman.
This is a page turner that has a real twist at the end.

I’ve discovered some great self-published ebooks but this is not one. I was in the Cayman Islands when I bought this because it was a prequel to the one set there and I was hoping for local color. Hmm. An entire novel in bold typeface without paragraph indentations? Really?! Has the author ever looked inside a REAL novel to see how it’s done? Random line breaks galore, grammar-school level punctuation errors, dialogue that rings as true as an after school special, and a ho-hum narrative that tells, tells, tells. Vastly overpriced at 99 cents.

BETTER OFF UNREAD
This book is a perfect example of why self-publishing gets a bad reputation. The story was promising, but charging money for something as incompetently edited and formatted as this is criminal. An entire novel in bold typeface? Really?! Has the author ever looked inside a REAL book to see how it's done? Every few lines there is a random line break that leaves a stray word or short phrase on a line by itself. And don't get me started on the amateurish, clichéd, on-the-nose dialogue. Once again, I wish I'd downloaded the free sample before buying.
