I never thought my life would turn out like this. I left Creekside Township at the age of sixteen full of hope, heading to Metro City to pursue my dream of chasing down murderers and thieves.
Instead, my innocence was stolen.
Now, I can't sleep or relax without distractions. My life and desires are messed up.
I'm broken.
I'm a lone wolf that seeks pleasure for pleasure's sake. I'm also the youngest detective the Metro City police department has ever promoted to head a murder investigation.
I prefer to work alone, but the sergeant has other ideas, forcing me to work with a human partner. Even when my new partner sees my dark side, my life in the shadows, he doesn't run.
For the first time in a long time, I feel it … hope.
Lone Wolf is a standalone spin-off from the Creekside Township Rivals series. One of the main characters, Mason Black, is the son of Lucas and Adam Black, the fated mates in Book 1 - Lucas' Omega. This story is a mix of murder mystery and wolf shifter mpreg romance.
JT Fader is an alternate pen name for Leigh Jarrett (she/he/they), allowing Leigh to explore their lifelong fascination with MM+ paranormal and fantasy stories and to create their own worlds.
This is a new to me author and I rounded up from 3.5 stars. There is a mystery which captivated me from the beginning . Very well written, although a little rushed. The two detectives kept finding clues, dismissed and rethought their investigation at a speed, which kept me on my toes 😂 The romance is *duh* pretty fast paced as well (wolf shifters and mating theme), but super sweet and both MC'S care about each other. One MC has a dark past and throughout the story domestic violence and abuse are themes the couple has to deal with. The story is linked to another shifter series the author wrote, but I could read and enjoy this book without reading the other series. 🐺❤️
Despite not normally being a reader of mysteries or murders, I really enjoyed this unusual wolf-shifter story. I liked how Mason is a tougher, more abrasive personality than the shifters in the Creekside series. Over the course of the story, pieces of Mason’s history are revealed, and we get to understand him a lot more - underneath that harsh exterior is a sensitive wolf who’s trying to protect himself. Arnie is the sweetest, most perfect partner for him and provides the understanding and emotional protection Mason needs. I love their increasing awareness of little details about each other in the early stages of their acquaintance. Also like the way they used 'omega' and 'alpha' as terms of endearment. A very different sort of story to the series this one is an offshoot of (ie. Creekside Township Rivals). Interested to see if this is the start of a new series.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book for free and this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
I read the Creekside Township Rivals series and LOVED it. I was so glad that J.T Fader decided to start this new series years down the road from the original series and with Adam and Lucas' pup. I like that the reader has a chance to get to know one of the pups from the original series. I hope that we get a few more stories from the new generation.
I really enjoyed Mason and Arnie and how they came together. At first I didn't think they fit 100% or would fit, I even read the blurb again to see if Arnie was Mason's love interest in the blurb... but as the story went on, the pieces started to come together. I liked Mason's shenanigans at the first crime scene, they gave me a chuckle. As a couple the MC's really evolved throughout the book. I enjoyed their love story, It wasn't super quick insta love and it was quite a slowburn. I especially liked how Mason went from a seemingly Alpha type wolf to a true Omega wolf. I loved that Mason brought Arnie back to meet his family, it gave me the warm fuzzies to know that the other couples are really living there happily ever after.
Also, one more thing, I LOVED the cover 😍
Overall, I really enjoyed this start of this series, I am really looking forward to what comes next!
I was given this book as an arc for an honest review

JT Fader has written another unique mpreg story with complex characters and non stereotypical shifters. The main characters in this book are Arnie, a human, and Morgan, an omega son of Adam and Lucas who are main characters from book one. This is a murder mystery with Morgan as the lead detective, and Arnie as his detective partner. They both work to solve a twisted murder. Morgan, who is a brilliant detective, is also dealing with PTSD, due to past physical and emotional abuse from an ex-mate. Arnie has never been in a relationship with a man. There are first times and spicy heat as their relationship grows, and Morgan becomes pregnant. Morgan and Arnie are perfect for each other, and I enjoyed their HEA. The pack ceremony welcoming their pup was especially precious! I really love that the author has written a mpreg story featuring the son of previous characters. I am looking forward to more books from this wonderful author!
A (more) neurodiverse Omega wolf detective with an attitude (think Sherlock or House or Sheldon Cooper) working in Metro City (how’s that for redundant simplistic naming conventions) works on solving a murder and fits in a new romance.
The romance is standard instant attraction that implies fated mates, though I think deep down we all fall in love at first sight, it’s returning that love and trusting our lovers that is the real difficult part.
The murder case is full of twists and secrets and surprising revelations.
In this world, wolves are born pups, shift around five years old, then gain control of their shift at sixteen. If your early childhood is as a wolf, no wonder humans and wolves bring different perspectives to their views of family and relationships.
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Starting with Mason of Lucas and Adam's brood, which I just love we get to see the pups grown up. But who lied to that bunch!?! Adam and Lucas did not start off with a happy story that only can later, but I get wanting to tell the happily mated pair version. Making waves with a forced upon new partnership with detective Arnie Jones, which was hilarious, when he had to call dispatch for help. Working as human and wolf partnership was going to take alooot of getting used to, but will that be the only form of partners. Arnie was worming his way to to the wolf's sensors.
Mason and Arnie's story was well written and easy to keep up with the back story tied with Mason's shifter side. The author does make note if possible triggers before hand for sensitive readers. My favorite part other than the angsty, sexy chemistry between the characters...is Mittens and Carlos rescue...I was literally imagining their rescue...😂. This book will have you captivated from the start until that very end...I was guessing , plotting who could be the killer...and surprised at the twists and suspects that kept popping up!!😉. I highly recommend this book!!
I received this as a free book and leaving my honest review voluntarily.
I love the connection Mason and Arnie form together from the beginning. Both of these men are trying to find who killed the man (one of the twins) at the motel how and why. Mason is a wolf omega and apparently Arnie is a wolf Alpha and his fated mate, so one thing leads to another and Mason ends up pregnant with Arnie’s pup, Mason wanted kids in the future but knows now is the time. I also really am glad that Mason brought Arnie back to meet his family and the new pup too.
I’ve been reading JT Fader’s creek side books since the beginning. This one is by far my favorite. I loved the murder mystery aspect, as well as the darker themes in this book. The ending wrapped things up well. A great read!
