When Leopoldi Kharmour's Device is rejected out of hand at the thirty-sixth contest of Cunning Devices, he takes it about as well as can be he gets drunk, sulks, and vows revenge.
It's up to his loyal, if somewhat exasperated young assistants to keep him out of jail and off the gallows by steering his hurt feelings towards something marginally more productive, but at some point he might have to face up to what he's doing.
PLOT DEVICES is a 4.5k-word short piece of queer cogpunk which demonstrates that even machines made with the best intentions at heart can be misused... and that it's best not to hurt the feelings of a touchy engineer who designs war engines for a hobby!
