NEVER FINISHED (Pine Crest Mountain Book #1) by Ana Rhodes is an enchanting and sexy contemporary second chance romance. This romance genre read pulled me in with relatable characters, introduced me to a small mountain town and resort in Colorado, and hit all the right romantic notes with just a touch of suspense all the way to HEA.

Emma and Jaime were pulled apart twelve years ago by her father’s machinations and family obligations to her dying mother. Both moved on with their lives, but never forgot their special bond.

Emma is back at their family’s resort to broker a deal for her father. What she does not know is that Jaime is working as The Lounge manager and head mixologist. They run into each other after an event and pick up as if no time has passed at all. Their chemistry is intense, and they are determined to not let anything pull them apart again, but once again Emma’s father, who only cares about money, is determined to run Emma’s life and not only make her part of a business deal but steal the virgin mountain land her mother left her.

I enjoyed this first book in the Pine Crest Mountain series and Emma and Jaime’s romance. Emma is a strong, intelligent, sweet and loving heroine who is having a hard time since her mother’s death. The treatment of her by her father was horrible and I was happy with the author’s resolution. Jaime was swoon worthy and protective. The sex scenes are smokin’ hot and explicit, but not gratuitous. All the secondary characters are believable, and I look forward to following them in further romances in the series. The dialogue is realistic, and the touch of suspense was a nice twist.

This is an easy-to-read, heartfelt contemporary romance that you just want to curl up with and let it take you away for a few hours. Gratifying start to this new series.

I just finished reading the most captivating novel called "Never Finished" by Ana Rhodes and @theauthoragency and I can't wait to tell you all about it!

This second chance romance with a twist of suspense had me hooked from the very first page. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, the story took a thrilling turn that left me on the edge of my seat!

The story takes place in a small town, and I must say, the love story between Emma and Jamie will definitely tug at your heartstrings. Emma, a strong and independent woman, returns to her hometown at her father's request, and that's when she reunites with her old flame, Jamie. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and you can't help but root for them to get back together.

The author does an incredible job of weaving together strong emotions, unexpected family obligations, and shocking twists that will leave you breathless. I was so invested in the story that I felt like I was right there with Emma and Jamie, experiencing everything they were going through.

Overall, I absolutely loved "Never Finished," and I'm eager to see how the supporting characters grow in the follow-up story. If you're looking for a heartwarming and suspenseful romance novel, then this is definitely the one for you!

Emma is back in Colorado, her hometown, to lock in a deal that her father is trying to win. Emma hasn’t been back since her mom’s funeral and before that was when she broke not only her heart but her boyfriend’s heart when she left for college. Also, more forced by her father. It’s been 12 years since seeing him.

Jaime has traveled all over since Emma broke his heart. She was the one who got away but he’s tried to make something himself. Becoming a successful mixologist, he could go anywhere but he came back to Colorado since his mom was diagnosed with Dementia.

Emma runs into Jaime at the resort’s lounge. They fall right back into banter and great conversation. The next evening they end up spending the night together. Over the course of the week there, they spend as much time together as possible. You can feel the chemistry and comfortability between them but also you can feel the dark cloud too. The dark cloud being Emma’s horrible father. He cares about money over anything. Even his daughter’s happiness.

Adored Jaime and Emma’s second chance romance. They get their second chance at love when she comes back home to the resort her family owns and he is the manager/mixologist at the bar inside the resort.

Emma was such a strong MMC, who sometimes felt pulled in the direction her father wanted her to go. She has never stopped thinking of Jaime, so when she runs into him, she decides to live for the moment. Her dad has other plans for her though.

Jaime is such a sweetheart. He was so hurt when she made the decision twelve years earlier but he wants to use his second chance to win her back for good.

The sparks between these two ignore big time! Now that they are older, they appreciate and approach things differently. Loved these two together so much.

The chemistry between Jamie and Emma was explosive from the moment they meet again. The years of pining just pour their emotions right off the page. The spice was just right and the plot flowed really well.

The “bad guy” in this book really made me want to pull my hair out. They were just gross. But I really enjoyed the drama this caused. It brought forth so much growth in both of our MCs.

This is a good second chance story for Emma and Jaime. 12 years have passed since Emma was forced to choose her family over her love. Now an adult and back where they both grew up the attraction reignites. Sweet, spicy and everything in-between, this story has it all. I loved all of the strong women in this story and despised the slimy men. For Emma and Jamie, their love story will never be finished.

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for a review.

A second chance romance with a twist of suspense to keep you hooked and a spin near the end that might shock you. A small-town love story that will capture your heart and find you rooting along with the support characters.
Twelve years ago, Emma makes a decision that she knew would not be easy with Jamie, one that she felt at the time was the only one to make. Over the years, the ‘what might have been,’ enters her thinking more often. Now she is back home on her father’s request to ‘get the deal done” not fully understanding the deal her father has put into motion…. Once back where her fondest memories are, she discovers that so is Jamie and their attraction is as strong and hot as it ever was.
The author uses strong emotions to drive the story along with unexpected family obligations and twists. I loved the strong girl-support and friendship as the story unfolded. That along with the sweet family backstory for Jamie will give the reader all the feels.

This is a new author for me. I enjoyed the story and look forward to seeing the supporting characters grow in the follow-up story.

This was a great comfort read! Emma and Jaime's story truly gives you hope in second chances. Both pining for 12 years after their first 'almost love'. The family business brings Emma back to Pine Crest Resort. It comes with some suspense and a plot twist I did not see coming.

The story kept me captivated and constantly turning the page. Emma is a strong, independent businesswoman proving to her father that she can handle everything he throws at her. Jaime, the sexy bartender at her resort, is a family man to the core. He is tender and wears his emotions for all to see. Their coming back together just made me so warm and happy! This is a great love story, guys!!

Grab this one for your next feel-good read!

I received a coy of this book from the author in exchange for a review.

Twelve years ago, Emma broke off her relationship with Jamie. It would be easy to say that she never looked back, but that wasn’t the case. Over the years, her mind often wandered to the ‘what might have been’, but she knew her decision was the right one. But now, she’s back home, back where it all began. And so is Jamie. And their attraction is as flaming hot as it ever was. But is her reason for staying apart still viable?

A small town, second chance love story. This tale will capture your heart. The story is beautifully and touchingly told. There are moments of tender love, fiery heat, and simmering anger…all the strong emotions that drive the plot. There is also a strong girl-bond friendship going on that helps the story unfold.

I enjoyed the story and eagerly await the follow-up story.

We meet Emma and Jamie two highschool sweethearts who both come from different worlds. Emma comes from wealth and money and a father who will choose money over family and all. Jamie is a guy that comes from nothing who is a family man deep down and wears his emotion on his sleeve. Emma is given a choice and she chooses to leave. When this happens Jamie leaves and changes all together. As the years go by they both often think “what if?” Well 12yrs pass since they left their small town. Both are back for personal reasons, Jamie his mother has been diagnosed with dementia and Emma is back for the very first time since her mother passed. Even 12yrs later Jamie is everything Emma wants and out of life. Jamie and Emma reunite but things are revealed and twists that you don’t see coming. But when the time comes does Jamie let this second chance go away or does he fight for Emma and show her that he can give her the life she always wanted not what she has had. Can Emma pick the Jamie this time or does she go back to what is expected of her? Can Emma show her father once and for all that she can handle anything and everything that he has thrown her way but still 12years later?
I love a good small town second chance story and when you have a couple like these two. Emma and Jamie have that story that eventhough they have been separated 12years later there older and no longer the teenagers they once were and now we see how they finally might get the forever they didn’t get 12years ago. What I love is eventhough Emma has all the things a girl would want Jamie gives her the one thing she hasn’t had and you have to read to find out what happens with these two.
This book has some spice but the chemistry they have even when time has passed is what makes this book so great. I cannot wait to read what other couples Anna gives us in her books to follow.

While Ana Rhodes is a new author for me, I have to say I look forward to reading more of her works. I started this book and could not put it down, finishing it in the same day I started reading it which says a lot.

While I saw several lessons or themes throughout this book, the ones that stood out to me the most were: second chances for romance, everything happens for a reason, and that friends are the family who you choose.

In order to keep her family first in her life, Emma made a tough choice pushing away someone who meant the world to her as she went off to college and ultimately built herself a life in California. But life has funny way of working out and as a young adult, working for her family company, Emma is forced to revisit her past by visiting her hometown for a work commitment.

This is where she was able to remember what her mom, who had passed away, would have really wanted for her as well as reconcile with a past friend/lover. Had Emma not faced her past head-on, she would not have remembered what her mom wished for her, faced the challenges brought on by her dad head on and run into Jaime, picking up their friendship right where it left off. As Emma realized the work commitment was not going to go as she had hoped, she looked towards her friends for support and guidance as well as formed the long overdue romantic relationship with Jaime. Jaime's family embraced Emma immediately showing her that friends are the family you choose.

Everything happens for a reason and Ana did a great job showing how important second chances are by allowing Emma and Jaime to rekindle their friendship and relationship. Ana also shared that your friends are the family you choose. They are the ones that provide support and guidance during challenging times.

I would highly recommend this book and cannot wait to read more from Ana Rhodes.

oooh i love a second chance romance !

Meet Emma, heiress to her mother's legacy, and determined to protector what her mother lovingly adored. Emma has returned to Silverpine her hometown and where Pine Crest Mountain Resort sits, the family business! Emma hasn't been back since her mother passed, not only is she dealing with that heartache, Emma is thinking about Jamie, the one that got away...well she walked away 12 years ago when she had no choice but to choose family over love.

Jamie, bartender extraordinaire can't believe his eyes when the red head from his past finally sits at his bar. Jamie has never forgotten Emma, never got over her leaving him. Jamie is determined to make up for lost time, and pretty soon has Emma back in is arms, but for how long??

Emma's father has sent her to close a deal, a deal that has really already been brokered behind Emma's back. Her father is an A-HOLE. And pretty much throws her to a wolf ! Emma pulls out the big guns to ultimately protect what is hers, what her mother left her. And to finally have what she has dreamt of for twelve years...Jaime !

Emma's two besties are hilarious, the banter is perfect and the spice is on par !

I'm looking forward to seeing what we get next from Ana... Caroline and a lumberjack maybe??

This was an incredibly sweet read. Unlike a lot of second-chance romances, there was no waiting to reconnect; as soon as the main characters set their sights on each other, they were smitten once again. It helped massively that neither of them had initially wanted to split, and neither had they gotten over one another, but unfortunately Emma's dad isn't a very nice man and had been pulling Emma's strings for far too long.

Watching Emma and Jaime reconnect was just so easy and simple, and I loved that there was no angst about their past; they just fit together so well that it was like no time had passed between them either. The main focus was dealing with Emma's overbearing father and his unscrupulous methods that had been causing Emma issues for years, but finally being back home, she's got the inner strength to stand up for herself and put her wants first, and that means keeping Jaime in her life.

There are a few twists and turns that had me shocked about the lengths that Emma's father would go to, all for money, but the negatives caused by him were outweighed by the fab sideline characters, who I hope we get more from.

It's an easy read that kept me entertained and left me with a smile.

I really loved this book. I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for an honest review. Emma has spent the last 12 years pining over her ex boyfriend Jamie and can’t find someone that even compares to him in the slightest. Emma’s Mom has passed away and Emma drowns herself in work in order to cope. Unfortunately she works for her father who is only about the next dollar & deal. Her father sets up a meeting with an investors in the town she grew up in at the resort they own. She hasn’t returned since her mom had passed, and because Jamie lives there. She meets with the investors, but one seems to be dragging his feet and hitting on her. She’s not having any of that. And guess who is the bar manager/mixologist……..Jamie. Both have spent the last 12 years trying to get over the other and failing miserably always wondering what if. They get to talk at the bar and things blossom from there. This second chance, forbidden romance, found family read has a few twists & turns. And Emma realizes her dad will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Even if that means lying, setting her up with a creep, or making very sketchy decisions with property that her mother left her. The storyline was great and the twists kept you guessing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 & 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5. Definitely recommend. Thank you to Ana Rhodes & The Author Agency for the opportunity to read the ARC. This was also the 1st book I’ve read by Ana Rhodes, I look forward to reading more of her books.

I LOVE small town romances, this is my jam! This is the story of Emma and Jamie. Emma is an heiress and Jamie is a bartender who has always had a thing for Emma. Emma's mom recently passed away and she is having some trouble with dealing with that. She also hasn't seen Jamie in 12 years and he left her with a deep kiss that she cannot forget about. Emma is headed back to the small town and Jamie to take over a merger for her father and the company he owns.
The writer of this book has so much chemistry between Jamie and Emma. I also loved the way it was a small-town romance between two people from the same town. I think the way the author wrote the story is so engaging for the readers like myself who love romances. I did not like the part where Emma's father is against Jamie because he is poor. However it does have a perfect place in the story as it makes sense and it also reminds me of another great work like The Notebook!
And that ending is perfect for Jamie and Emma! YES! I look forward to reading the next work by this author as her work is amazing!

Emma and Jaime's story was so sweet.

A second chance romance with a little bit of suspense near the end. This was such a cute story about Emma and Jaime, who after almost 12 years finally get a second chance at the love they thought they lost out on.

Emma comes home to try and help broker a deal her father has put on her plate. But in doing so she has run into Jaime, her old flame from high school that she never truly got over.

Jaime is now the manager & bartender at the resort run by Emma's father & has spent the last few years trying to forget her despite seeing her every where he looks.

A chance encounter has them reconnecting and giving each other another chance...and boo do those sparks fly.

This was such a cute story with tons of love and forgiveness and finding strength in standing up for yourself.

Emma & Jaime's relationship was as sweet as can be & I really enjoyed reading about them.

Great job!

This book is about Emma and Jamie, a young couple from different backgrounds who seemed destined to never be together. Emma and Jamie fell in love but Emma's father didn't approve of the relationship. He thought Jamie wasn't good enough for his daughter and had lined up someone that he approved of, and who he wanted Emma to marry. It made my blood boil! Emma split up with Jamie, breaking his heart and her own. Twelve years later, Emma is back in town and runs into Jamie. When they met, it was like they had never been apart. They spent the night together and as much time as they could, to be with each other again. However, Emma's nasty father is trying to manipulate the situation. Ana Rhodes wrote a great villan in Emma's father, making him very easy to loathe. I felt bad for Emma, who wanted to be with Jamie but obviously feeling the responsibility of family expectations.

You can tell right away that Emma and Jamie are meant to be. After their young love was snuffed out by a person Emma is suppose to trust, they reunite 12 years later, and pick up right where they left off. Their chemistry is off the charts, especially when they are standing up for one another when outside forces attempt to destroy it.

This was a great quick read and really enjoyed it. The slight twists and turns were unexpected, but they were done perfectly to highlight the romance-y part of the book 💖.

First Love

The fact that the MFC, Emma, had the career in her family’s business vs. the MMC, Jaime, who came from a working class family peaked my interest in reading this book since it didn’t follow the trope of the rich boss and the lowly assistant working for him.

Emma’s character was developed as a 30 year old with a successful career who was empathetic. Unfortunately, Emma comes off as a wimp through nine tenths of the story behaving more in line like a teenager in how she deals with her father, who is her boss, which provides as one of the conflicts in the plot. Quite frankly, her two best friends, Caroline and Sophie, showed more backbone in their respective character development even though they had their own issues with their careers.

It would be interesting to see if those two characters get their own books.

Basically, this book was a miss for me.

This book is a spicy romantic journey where lost love finds its way back again. They always say if you love something set it free and if it's meant to be it'll come back to you and this story between Emma and Jaime is true to that. They both struggle with decisions of the past, but thankfully that doesn't stop them from starting again from where they left off as if it was yesterday. Emma's friends are so helpful and caring, as well as Jaime's family...if only Emma's dad was. I'm glad Emma finally saw the light, even though it took her way too long to get there and finally not fear standing up for herself. The bad guys always get their just desserts and I'm not talking about Mama Esmeralda's special chocolate cake. This read has romance, spicy moments, family drama and bad business dealings that kept me engaged and turning pages.

4-1/2 STAR REVIEW

Twelve years have passed since Emma has laid eyes on Jaime Acosta, but business forces her to return to her hometown.

It’s a classic case of opposites attracts in the first installment of the Pine Crest Mountains series. Author Ana Rhodes uses a beautiful Colorado resort as a backdrop for Never Finished.

For Jaime, Emma has always been the one who got away. However, with a business merger in the works and her father offering her as part of the deal, Emma is stuck between family loyalty and a chance at happiness.

Although the storyline is fairly predictable, the chemistry between the characters is compelling. Emma’s desire to honor her late mother’s legacy is noble, especially when she has to square off against her father.

Never Finished acknowledges that love can withstand the test of time and offer second chances. ~ Amy for Novels Alive

Pining is an old fashioned term but both Emma and Jaime were pining for each other. Despite their economic differences, they had important values in common, especially the importance of family. Emma’s father used it against her to break up her relationship with Jaime and keep her under his thumb. Jaime voluntarily gave up his traveling to support his sisters and care for his mother. I was glad Emma finally woke up to what her father was and stood up for herself. And also that she recognized how much she’d missed without Jaime in her life. Jaime, too, was ready to fight to keep Emma in his life. Steam, good pacing, fun characters. Good story!

This was a good read. The romance was front and centre and the relationship that grew between Emma and Jamie is so sweet and loving.
Emma is a strong character, who has been manipulated and controlled by her father. Silver lining it got her back home where Jamie is too. Jamie is the perfect mama's boy who falls in love.
The love story was such a big part of the book, that the "big moment" seemed anti climatic and over too quick. Jamie is the hero, and I loved that moment for the characters, but it seemed like it built slowly for so long to be resolved so easily.
I would recommend this book if your looking for a small town sweet romance!
