Divergent Reflections

“Are we ready, children?” Noona asks. “We want to get a good spot to watch the show!” She pauses, though, glancing over at me with a hint of hesitation. I blink, recalling the news I’d heard.

“Noona?” I say. “Did something happen—“

“We’ll talk about it after the show, Whitney,” she says, firmly. There’s a stern look in her eyes that has me nodding, rather than trying to get more out of her. Yep, I think I was right. Something is about to happen. Breaking the mirror in Mirrorlands probably unleashed something massive, and we’re all going to wind up spreading out over America, saving people from… well, I don’t know WHAT, but it’ll be super dramatic and I’ll have to wear that stupid skintight uniform—but at least it’s programmable? Should I make it look like a mirror? I could be a walking disco ball!

“She’s thinking something weird, again, isn’t she?” Kingston says, moving in front of me.

“I am NOT! I was just considering making my white uniform reflective, like a mirror,” I tell him.

“Definitely weird,” everyone else agrees.

This one is about Whitney, but we also have a new character, Landon, who might be part of the Mirror Walkers line. It's good to see more of another branch, and it's been a while since we were in the South branch. The story visits a lot, and the Deadly Darlin' are in almost every book, but the school is somewhere we don't visit often, and it was good to see more about the kids there.

As usual, the book is about family, but this one took a slightly different approach. Something I like is how the books take on a lot of themes; among all the craziness going on, we get a few useful lessons. This time, it was about mental health; at least, that's what I took from it.

I love how the cast grows with every book, but still, everyone has a place in the story. There's so much to learn, and the world's expansion only opens up the chance to more.

But what I like the most is that Cape High books always make me smile and allow me to have a fun read.

Mirror mirror on the wall

40 books in and they all remain fun to read. This one takes characters jumping in and out of mini scenes to an extreme along with wonderful super logic. Mirrors take on a lot more dimension in this latest super hero training story.
