I recently read The Dragon and wanted to share my honest thoughts as a fellow lover of fantasy stories.First off, I really appreciated the core idea: subverting the classic dragon legend by making Rolly "very different" from the fire-breathing, winged beasts we're used to. It's a fresh twist that sets up an intriguing premise Ethar feeling responsible for helping dragons "live up to their legend" in a world where magic is outlawed adds nice tension and moral complexity right from the start. The heart of the book shines brightest in the friendship between Ethar and Rolly.

Their bond feels genuine, and the way it grows through shared trials into something strong and loyal is touching. Themes of friendship, strength in adversity, and loyalty in a harsh world of good vs. evil come through clearly, and I can see how your background in psychology might have influenced the emotional depth there. It's a wholesome, uplifting story at its core, with moments of despair that make the triumphs feel earned. That said, as an honest reader, I felt the execution could use a bit more polish in a few areas. The pacing starts strong but sometimes rushes through key events (like the "unspeakable" incident or the quest itself),
leaving me wanting more detailed scenes to really immerse myself in the world and characters.

The prose is straightforward, which keeps things accessible, but tightening up some dialogue, varying sentence structure, and adding more vivid descriptions of the land/settings could make the magical elements pop even more.Overall, it's a charming, big-hearted fantasy tale with a lot of potential especially for younger readers or anyone craving a quick story about unlikely friends overcoming odds. I enjoyed the adventure and the positive message, and I'm glad I picked it up.

Keep writing; you've got a solid foundation here, and I'd be curious to see what you do next!
