Well. That was a great deception. We started pretty interesting, if not incredibly cliché and surface level, lost the plot at some point in the middle, found it, they fell in love in 3 days. That’s it. The dialogue and “dirty talk” were so dry, everything else was meh at best, I’ve never skimmed read this much. Bored the whole way through. So much unnecessary stuff that was NO help to the story….. lower your expectations they say….

Mystery, Romance, Found Family
I devoured this book in less than a day. You can always expect an intense mystery from Matthew and this one delivers! The plot is expertly woven with the romance, and I was swooning while the tension of the plot ratcheted my heart rate. It opens with a major bang, and the climax gave me actual chills.
One of my favourite things about this book was the found family of dancers. They are hilarious! I was laughing at their antics and forming a crush on Daddy M at the same time. I could read a whole book just about them. Everyone needs to read this book. Seriously. I was able to get lost in this story like I haven’t with a book in a long time.
Also, the ending was magical, creative, and everything I want from a book. Give me stuff I can dream about. Give me escapism. Give me men like Chase—heroes. If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. It’s a must read.

Five years ago Levi Harris found himself living in Paris at the chateau, La Maison de M. Now at twenty five, he goes by Vixen and is an exotic dancer. Ten years ago Matteo Sabarino, a very wealthy man, from a long line of aristocrats opened the exclusive club. Not much is known about Matteo and he seems to be the last one of his family. Vixen alway thought Matteo knew everything about everybody. He always reminded his boys to stay focused and find out as much information about business deals the high powered business clients were involved in. For Matteo that was his business, information. Many of the young men that entertained at the chateau were known as “Matteo’s Boys”. Levi, Isaac, Shawn, Gunnar and Anders, Jared, Edmund, Teo, Diesel and his special pet Raj.
Marc and Alex Bodin have traveled to Canada to find Chase Harwick. Marc’s done deep extensive research on Chase. Chase was once in homicide with the Canadian law enforcement but was fired for excessive use of force. But there was more to it than that. Chase suffered a great loss and believed in justice for those who would never receive it. He fights against men of high privilege that abuse women. These women would need therapy, never trust, never love and life would not be normal for them again. Chase carries out his own kind of justice.
After he’s taken care of one such man, he finds he has visitors in his car, Marc and Alex. They finally have a meeting of the minds and Chase agrees to take part in Marc’s project to bring monsters to justice. Marc explains the information he has on these monsters is from a Journal that he possesses. The investigation will take Chase to Paris, France and the La Maison de M. Chase is amazed at the La Maison and all it offers, especially Levi. The purpled eyed twink has gotten under his skin. The more time they spend together their hearts become involved.
Chase still has a job to do and when he’s caught the journal will bring the most dangerous men to the chateau: Matteo, Marc, and Ares the European arms dealer.
Will Chase and Levi be ready for the evil and danger that awaits them?
Matthew Dante creates a new series, with the mystery of the journal that was discovered in “The Rough Edges” series. “Book of Sin” starts with “The Collector” and it’s a fast paced, action packed story, filled with suspense and surprises.
The author delivers an amazing introduction to Chase Harwick and Levi Harris, as both these men have had tragedy and heart break in their young lives. There’s also a little tour of Paris as Chase and Levi tour Palace of Versailles and the Louvre Pyramid.
I look at this first book in this new series as bringing characters full circle as Marc and Alex were introduced in the “Fractured” series and Mickey O’Brien and Patrick O’Maley and Ares are introduced in the “Rough Edges" series. Throw in “Book of Sin” and there’s an entire new group of men and it has me wondering who will show up throughout this new series. I already am invested in an Ares and Matteo story, as there’s something going on there.
I highly recommend “The Collector” for intrigue, suspense and a wild ride in Paris. If any of the characters peak your interest check out the series: “Fractured” for Marc and Alex and “Rough Edges” for Mickey and Patrick. Can’t wait, as Matthew Dante already has a second book in the works for the “Book of Sin” series.

Oooo this was so good!!!
I love a little thriller/mystery type read every now and then (it's not all about the smut apparently) and this fitted in just perfectly. It has a bit of everything in it; insta-attraction, murder, mystery, found-family and I devoured this over a weekend.
You start with Chase, he's pulled in to a world where there's an investigation ongoing over a journal that's been found. In that there's all manner of dodgy goings-on and he, Marc & Alex are trying to get to the bottom of. Chase enters La Maison de M to see where the connection is (or even if there is one) and that's where he comes across this adorable twink Levi. They spend time together and quickly the feelings start to come through (I'll stop there or I'll end up giving spoilers).
Although there is a love/romance in this it doesn't deviate away from the thriller side of the book. It's a perfect mixture of both and I can't wait for book 2 (hopefully it's Jared's book 😊)

Such a good story !
Whoever as ever read from Matthew knows that he loves his mystery, thriller and this book is just about it.
I was captivated from the prologue haha.
I enjoyed La Maison du M and discovering those new characters, this new family and damn how I liked that it’s link to two of his series.
We have Levi, the vixen, twink French dancer with purple eyes and and Chase, the huge caveman, from Toronto. Both of them were just so cute.
Most of his characters are morally grey and I just like it.
The intrigue was just so captivating, I was really wondering about the journal they discovered in book 4 from his Rough Edges série and here I have my answers ish haha. Can’t wait for the rest of the série to be honest to have more answers.
What Matthew does best his mixing romance/erotica with a mild or high intrigue and I’m here for it.

Fun read.

Holy hell that was a ride! I couldn’t put this book down. The suspense and mystery mixed with a hot twist was AMAZING! Chase and Levi will steel your hearts! Highly recommend!

Four and a half wicked stars! Levi and Chase's story was everything you come to expect from a Matthew Dante book. Suspense, love, and steamy with a dark twisted secondary character hiding in there. I could not get enough of these two men and cannot wait for the other men to fall in love. Great start to a new series!

I recently read The Collector, which is set to release on May 2nd. If you like fiesty twinks, morally grey MCs, found family, high heat, mystery, intrigue, and a satisfying HEA, well, you'll enjoy this book.
This is my first Matthew Dante book, but I'm sure it won't be my last. And whilst there are characters from previous books who make appearances, I could follow along without any issues.
Chase is an ex-cop seeking justice against bad men who do bad things. He believes everyone should be treated the same when they commit heinous crimes, but his time on the force taught him that money and power can influence justice.
So now, Chase is taking justice into his own hands. Working with Marc and Alex, and in the possession of a mysterious journal detailing horrendous crimes, Chase finds himself at the exclusive La Maison de M. A mansion outside Paris where fantasies are fulfilled and the dancers are everything you could desire.
One such dancer is Levi, aka Vixen, a purple-eyed beauty, who entices and enthrals anyone who watches him dance.
Outside of his Vixen persona, however, Levi is a total sweetheart with a heart of gold and a difficult past, who has found a family with his dancer 'brothers' and a father figure in Matteo, the man in charge of La Maison de M.

I have to say, this book was a lot of fun! The camaraderie between the guys at La Maison is great, I particularly love Isaac and Jared, and I'd love to know Matteo's story, especially with Ares.
But amidst the hijinks and fun, there's also a potentially deadly mystery... and let me tell you, the gasp I gasped when a certain event occurred 😱😨 Matthew Dante definitely caught me up in the intrigue and the thrilling suspense!
There are some adorably sweet romantic moments, too. I especially loved Levi's eye colour reveal 😍
The Collector is a thoroughly enjoyable read, and I'm excited for more from many of the characters that I met here.

Brilliant Start to the Series
I love this author’s books and was gutted when the Rough Edges series finished, I was so in love with all those tough guys who would kill bad guys but were soft marshmallows for their partners and so I have been counting the days for this new series and oh boy was it worth the wait!
The author gives us all the morally grey characters we love along with twists and turns and a beautiful HEA all set in Toronto and Paris. I have to admit when I started reading and picked up on the theme my poor little wussy heart wondered if this was for me and then I remembered it was written by Matthew, who can lighten and put snarky humour into the darkest moments, he excels at it, it was Matthew who got me over to the dark side and this book was brilliant.
Chase had been a disillusioned cop, grieving the murder of his sister and finding himself on the other side of the law dishing out revenge. After completing a job he gets the surprise of his life and so did I when 2 old favourites turn up! He accepts a job with them, tracking down evil guys, and finds himself in Paris.
The story centres around the exclusive and very private club Maison de Mis where men can explore their fantasies and where we meet the gorgeous Vixon, Levi, an exotic dancer who makes every customer feel special but he is a tough little twink with an abusive past, like most of the boys who work and live at the Maison with Matteo the owner and their protector. Whilst Levi loves his job and his chosen family he secretly dreams of his HEA with a special man. Chase is absolutely gone when he meets the vision that is Levi with his mesmerising violet eyes.
I love that thanks to 2 other familiar faces Chase gets to exact his personal revenge and help bring a chapter of his life to a close.
As we enjoy the budding romance we also get edge of the seat stuff, seriously creepy and culminating in an epic finale. This book ticks all the boxes, read the trigger warnings but remember Matthew writes with a humorous touch and enjoy.
Can’t recommend this book highly enough and I’m desperate for book 2.

Matthew Dante delivers a mystery and a romance all in one! Levi and Chase are on the case! I loved this story and the journey that Levi and Chase take to finding their forever and a day love with one another. Chase is working undercover trying to surface a man that commits terrible acts. Levi works at the chateau that caters to very rich men and their wildest fantasies. Along the way, both men find that their initial connection and subsequent physical relationship has shifted into something much deeper and heartfelt.
I love the way these two MCs share their darkest secrets and desires with one another. As Chase and Levi grow closer, the investigation takes a dangerous turn. Dante does a captivating job highlighting Peabody’s unhinged approach to acquiring friends.
I love the sound family at La Maison de M and the close ties of the “brothers” there. It really is one big, happy, slightly dysfunctional family. Matteo, the father figure of the group, does his best to keep his boys safe, so it’s interesting seeing glimpses into his darker side. Ares intrigued me to no end. Isaac and Jared, as well as Marc and Alex, were great side characters.
There’s plenty of plot in this book to keep you interested and the blossoming romance between Chase and Levi is equally appealing. The possessive vibes from Chase are top tier! The connection he has with Levi is strong and swoon worthy. Both men have traumatic pasts that they are trying to deal with/overcome. They help one another. Levi’s light helps Chase not to totally succumb to the darkness.
There are some violent moments in this book as well as mentions of dark deeds, so just prepare yourself for that by reading the author’s warning at the beginning of the book. I enjoyed this story very much. I’m glad that Levi found his love, Chase got some closure, and the MCs achieved their HEA. The epilogue gave me life! I absolutely love Beauty and the Beast (I was obsessed with it in my younger years), so I squealed in delight at the events that unfolded. These two are perfect for each other.
I’m looking forward to Isaac and Jared’s story, up next in this series.

Levi’s light helps Chase not to totally succumb to the darkness.
There are some violent moments in this book as well as mentions of dark deeds, so just prepare yourself for that by reading the author’s warning at the beginning of the book. I enjoyed this story very much. I’m glad that Levi found his love, Chase got some closure, and the MCs achieved their HEA. The epilogue gave me life! I absolutely love Beauty and the Beast (I was obsessed with it in my younger years), so I squealed in delight at the events that unfolded. These two are perfect for each other.
I’m looking forward to Isaac and Jared’s story, up next in this series.

The Collector by Matthew Dante is a dark romance story, but with enough entertaining light moments, banter and steam to make the darkness milder and breathable. The adorably awkward and easily flustered ex cop Chase with his far from brilliant investigative skills but a heart bigger than his home country - Canada - made me smile and turn the pages impatiently to find out what the future holds for him. And it didn't disappoint - La Maison de M was not not only the place with the only lead his small squad of vigilante justice had, but the place where he met Levi. And here I want to use a quote of the book that so accurately describes the madness on page :
"Poor Chase. Was he really ready to join this crazy and fucked up family of misfits?"

I’ve been looking forward to The Collector, the first book in the new Book of Sins series by Matthew Dante.
What a great start! I loved the premise. Former Toronto cop Chase is approached by two familiar faces to recruit his help hunting down a series of bad men who are detailed in a dossier they received.
The book leads them to suburban Paris and La Maison de M, an exclusive gentleman’s club run by the enigmatic Matteo. But it is dancer Vixen (Levi) who catches Chase’s eye…
This book was amazing! It worked on so many levels:
🎩Chase and Levi were scorching together. And sweet. Cookie baking, burlesque dancing, and a romantic day in Paris? Yes, please!
🎩 Marc and Alex kicking off the investigation. Love seeing these two again.
🎩 The big bad is seriously creepy!
🎩 The set up for future books was amazing! I can’t wait for more of the Maison boys and Matteo!
🎩 This is a dark romance. Heed the trigger warnings and dig in!
I loved troubled Chase, haunted by his sister’s murder. The karmic closure Chase finds is medieval in the best way - and sees a cameo by another familiar face.
And Levi was a doll. I love a man who can dance. Add in one who bakes and 😍 I l adored this sweet soul who loved Beauty and the Beast.
Seriously, this ticks so many boxes for me: romance, morally grey characters, mystery, thriller, saucy humor, found families, twinky dancers and hunky ex-cops.
I hope Matthew has book 2 almost finished - I’m ready for the next bad guy to get what he deserves!

Oh my God, Mr. Dante… An incredible start to another fantastic series!
As per every Matthew Dante book, this one is catchy right from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the very last word on the very last page. I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep screaming it. Matthew truly has a way to captivate you and never let you out of his stranglehold. Once you read one of his books, you’re never going to go back, and you won’t want to.
The Collector is the first book in the Book of Sin Series. I won’t give away anything from any other series, but I will say that everything comes full circle in this one. Things and people from the other series come back in this one, but at the center of it all is the love story between Chase and Levi.
In true Matthew Dante fashion, I fell head over heels in love with Chase and Levi the second I met them, and I became so invested in them that when the book ended, I was very sad. This book could be 1,000 pages long, and I’d just eat it all up. It’s that amazing.

Another great book by Matthew!
I absolutely love a found family and Matthew knows how to create perfect family’s in a sinister world of all things dark.
I love Levi and chase they are perfect opposites.
Levi is a sassy dancer that had a rough upbringing but was helped by Mateo who run a private gentlemen’s club in his château in Paris. He gave Levi a home and love he had never gotten from family.
Chase is an undercover detective set on finding out who murdered his sister. When handed a journal it leads him to the château where he’s sure he has the bad guy but as evidence is uncovered he realises all is not as it seems.
I just loved the cameos in this book, Matthew knows my love of Patrick from his rough edges series so seeing the family again was the cherry on the cake!
Of course I have to mention Daddy Mateo, his love for his boys has my heart melting and I can’t wait to see if he gets his HEA!

This is the beginning of a new series and it starts out strong. Once I started reading it, I had a hard time putting it down.
Levi and Chase are unusual characters. Levi, having had a rough childhood, was now the star at La Maison de M, a gentlemen's club. His act and personality are almost magical. Then one night he meets Chase.
Chase, former cop, has his life completely changed when a family member is murdered. He has a more vigilante outlook on life since. He is no longer a cop but is in the business of correcting what the justice system doesn’t.
These two have an instant attraction but can’t do anything about it since Chase is undercover. But Levi is impossible to resist and their relationship changes. There is a lot more story here with a kidnapper and an undefined family. There are a few laughs at the antics of some of Levi’s brothers and even his “dad”. I really enjoyed this story. I like that the author used characters from previous stories but this is really a standalone. I can’t wait to see what is next in the series.

I didn’t expect a book about tracking down the lowest scum on earth would make me cry, but it did.
When exotic dancer Levi Harris aka Vixen meets killer for hire Chase Harwick it’s instant attraction. But when lies come to the front and Levi goes missing will everything lead to an HEA?
Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. Every page made me turn to the next.
I love books that are centered around the idea of found family and love not blood making you a family and this book hit the right in the heart.
I laughed, I cried and I overheated at all the hot sex in between.
The characters were solid as was the storyline which keeps twisting and turning until the very end.

A book of darkness and light. There is a dark mystery that runs throughout this story. However, Levi and his fellow brothers are fun and flirty and add the lightness needed. Chase is mesmerised from the minute he sees Levi perform. They were drawn to each other and there was no doubt that they would fall so quickly for each other. The mystery side pulls all the men together and we see all of their personalities. These two were seriously hot together. I loved the epilogue, it was so sentimental and special. I can't wait to see Matteo lower his guard and let love invade. It's Isaac and Jared next, which will no doubt be very entertaining.

This is my first read by Matthew Dante and I really enjoyed Levi's and Chase's story.

The found family, a bit of angst, men in Speedos, the lust that turns into love and a well deserved HEA kept me turning the pages! If you are looking for a sweet and steamy at the same time read with angsty moments, humor and great side characters then don't look further. La Maison de M is full of surpises...

And here we are, my first read book of 2025, well I started it last year 2024 (yesterday) so its my first half read :D
I enjoyed this story, it was light and fun despite the darkness criminal aspect of it.
Levi was a bright light and Chase was a fierce protector (when he wasn't potentially walking into deadly situations turned friendly).
My first experience reading a Mathew Dante book and it took a bit for me to get the feel of his writing style. But I liked it a lot once I got to know him.
I enjoyed this story, it was light and fun despite the darkness criminal aspect of it.

Intense
This book had my heart pounding and I could barely breathe at times. And then the ending was so sweet and beautiful.
Levi is a sex worker, living in a mansion in Paris, owned by Matteo, when Chase comes to partake in the club at the mansion. Or so it seems. Chase is actually an ex police officer from Toronto, hunting a monster who kidnaps people. He's also hunting the man who murdered his little sister.
This is a dark story, with interesting characters, plenty of action, steamy and an HEA.

Great new series
This is my first book from Matthew Dante I had been looking forward to reading it since it was announced. The relationship between Levi , Matteo and his brothers made the perfect found family and when Chase came along they both knew they were meant for each other . When the reason why Chase is there comes to light can they all work together to find the answers.

This was my first Matthew Dante book and I’ve already put more of his books on my iPad to read. I really enjoyed all the characters in the story and the added mystery was a real bonus, not to mention the sex scenes that were really 🔥🔥 Definitely worth more than five stars..an amazing read. Thank you Matthew 📚❤️

It is the first book I have discovered by this author and... what can I say? I loved it.
It has mystery, love, sensuality... it is impressive.
The characters are so well drawn, the feelings so well defined,... it really deserves the maximum stars.
Congratulations to the author for this very impressive story.
I will definitely read his other books.

DANG, I didn't expect this story, considering the title.
Wonder if there are clubs like La Maison, actually? I wouldn't be able to afford it, but as a guest for 1 night, please! Unfortunately, there are people like Peabody out there. Hopefully, no one would go home with them. A little scary! THANK YOU, MATHEW! ENJOY!

If you’re looking for a found family, mystery, suspense, guy who fights bad guys, strangers to lovers MM romance then this is definitely for you.
This is my first book my Matthew Dante and I’ll be honest the writing style was hard for me to get into at first. But the more I read, the easier it was for me to compute the writing style.
I loved Chase’s character and his sense of drive to protect the weak. There’s just something hot about men who go after other men who are abusers to women and the weak. I think Chase’s character started off really strong and independent but what I didn’t like was that as the story progressed he sorta fell into this role of a yes sir boy, who became an obedient puppy following whatever Marc wanted for him. Not a fan of Marc.
I want a better read on Mateo to know if I like him or not 😂. I feel like I might like him and I actually hope he has his own book. He is an interesting character and I’d love to read his book.
This would’ve been a 4⭐️ for me had Levi not made that stupid move he made towards the end. I am not a fan of characters who make stupid decisions and then cry woe is me when the consequences bites them in the ass.

These two are so cute. The book is sorta instalovey and thats fine by me. There's a romantic suspense element so we also get some action. My favorite thing was the found family feels.
