Respectfully with all the peace and love, this one wasn't for me 🫶
I'll keep the summary brief since the blurb on the back of the book is short. Erin Snow is a romance loving, coffee obsessed girlie who is living her best college student life. However, as local people begin to go missing and she is plagued by cryptic nightmares, Erin begins to question her past and the world as she knows it.
Read this if you like:
- Paranormal romance
- Angels & Demons 🪽
- Love Triangle??
- Training sequences 🗡️
- Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa
- 1st person dual POV
- Kindle Unlimited indie fanro 💖
- Chosen one trope
- Found family
Unfortunately I did not connect with the characters or the writing at all. ☹️ One of my biggest pet peeves is when the character's every thought is included in their POV. It was giving major "Oh shoot. I didn't mean to say that." energy. I also had a difficult time with the pacing in this book. There were multiple scenes of the inner circle going out and I felt that it took away from the plot.
In my opinion, the difficult topics were not handled with care at all. Erin goes through multiple traumatic events (please check trigger warnings 🗣️ 🗣️ 🗣️) and they are completely brushed over. I understand that strong fmc is the archetype the author was going for but it rubbed me the wrong way.
Overall this was a miss for me but I definitely think that if you like Rhapsodic/ The Bargainer series it might be worth a shot!

Me to myself: take a chance and back a baby indie. It will be fun.
Also me: EXCUSE ME WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?!
I love me a good dark urban fantasy/romantasy, and this definitely hits both. I can even love a good cliffhanger. Fair warning though, we’re not hanging off this one, we’re precariously dangling by two fingers in total shock while still trying not to pant over the edging that happened the entire way there.
Worth it? ABSOLUTELY
Read it, you should.

So incredible! Loved the characters and the story was so so good! Good vs evil, angels vs demons. So many twists and still so many unanswered questions. Can’t wait to continue the series!!

Review: Wings of Destiny by V.M. Pire
As a huge fan of urban fantasy, I am thrilled to say that “Wings of Destiny” by V.M.Pire is a proud and welcome entry into the genre. This book is brimming with fun and fresh ideas that kept me thoroughly entertained.
One of the standout features of this novel is its multi-POV structure. With several characters sharing the spotlight, this approach felt necessary and added depth to the story. Erin, our main female character, is both likable and believable, making her a joy to follow. Seth, her childhood friend, brings a delightful mix of “golden retriever energy” with a vicious bite, making him another standout character. The supporting cast adds much-needed fun and levity, preventing the story from becoming overly dramatic or tense.
The pacing of the book is generally good, though it does hit a couple of minor snags. However, these moments are never enough to pull you out of the story. The world-building is on point, with beautifully set and described locations that we get to visit. I only wish we had the chance to explore a bit more to give a larger scale to the world.
The culmination of the story is everything you could want from a grand finale—fun, exciting, and downright badass. The cliffhanger at the end is so well-executed that I found myself desperately searching for a epilogue or any hint of what’s to come next. I am eagerly looking forward to what Book 2 has to offer.
Overall, “Wings of Destiny” is a fantastic read that I highly recommend to any urban fantasy fan. V.M. Pire has crafted a story that is both fresh and familiar.

When I say fantasy isn’t my first pick when I’m looking for books I mean it. Sometimes I find it head to put myself in a characters shoes and lose myself in the book. BUT when I tell you V. M. Pire had me on the edge of my seat with this urban fantasy! I was sucked in from page one. I got lost in the book, felt a connection to the fmc and didn’t want to put it down! The twist and turns and jaw dropping moments thought out the writing made me forget the real world! And the ending!!!! I need more! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!! TRULY A WORK OF ART!

❤️🔥YALL, the cliffhanger of this book! I NEED book two YESTERDAY. I absolutely adore this book in so many ways. I loved the characters, the banter, the flirtation, etc. All of it! This is so far one of my top reads right now. When I tell you the cliffhanger had me saying OMFG at the end, yeah. I absolutely love being so invested in a book that the ending is 😱. I devoured this book. You’ve got Nephilim and demons—like I’m obsessed 🤩. This read got me out of my reading slump 🫶🏼.

If there was an option to give a book more than 5 stars, THIS would be the place I would use it. I’ve never been so attached to characters, reviled villains or been on the edge of my seat this much in any book I’ve read. Such an enthralling read from start to the very end, and am already counting down the days until the series continues!

✨Book Review - Wings of Destiny✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was unputdownable!!!!! I read it in two sittings because I got home late, started reading it, stayed up super late and fell asleep, then read the rest the next day. It was impossible to close the book for the last 50 pages.
Wings of Destiny is the indie you didn’t know you needed. It’s Supernatural meets Throne of Glass meets The Mortal Instruments meets Fourth Wing (minus the dragons). The main protagonist is relatable, her friends are realistically painted, and the bad guys are every woman’s nightmare. Pretty much every scene with Erebus made me physically uncomfortable- I could feel Erin’s discomfort and pain- that’s how good the writing was. As I’m paging through the book writing this, I’m getting sucked in and re reading whole chapters. This has literally never in my life happened. If the rest of the series were out now, I’m fairly certain I would hunker down and read them all in one sitting. That is how good this book is.
And don’t even get me started on chapters 41 and 42. I’m still reeling and rereading that over and over trying to figure out what the heck is going on.
Read the book immediately and message me and can we please get some fan theories going? Because I need someone to talk to about this.

All I can say is wow. I was hooked from the beginning. Erin Snow is so feisty. This book has all the action, tension, fantasy, found family, and just everything I needed in a book. I lovedddd Erin and even just them calling her Miss Snow for some reason. This is so hard to write because of how just excited I am and finding words is hard. I literally finished the book in a day and a half. The banter was engaging and I was all giggly even when I was alone in my room. I cannot wait for book 2, and I hope you all give this book a try!

What a fantastic read! I read this so fast.
This is a slow burn romance, friends to lovers (sort of), coming into powers, found family, angels and demons, and so much more.
This was fast paced, full of action and the slow burn is spectacular!
The book ends of a cliff hanger.

When I say I devoured this book, I mean I DEVOURED IT!! I have the same snarky sarcastic personality as the FMC and have about the same internal dialog with myself. I need to know what happens next and can not wait for the rest of this series!

Between the gorgeous cover and the synopsis, i expected to love this. Unfortunately, Erin made this read absolutely miserable. She whined, cried, and threw hissy fits when things didnt go her way or Seth paid attention to someone else. That bothered me so badly. Her obsession with him borderline on creepy!! I thought maybe she'd get better towards the end but she didnt. Well at least for me she didnt have any real growth. Seth wasnt a much better character for me. Honestly none of the characters were all that great except Josh. Great characters can make or break a book and i wasnt a fan of these guys.

So glad I took a chance on this indie author. I haven't really read many dark urban fantasy books, but this one was exciting and fast paced with good world-building. Although I did not connect deeply with any of the characters, I related to Erin's inner dialogue and it had me cackling throughout the book. I loved the sense of found family with Erin's childhood best friend Seth who has the perfect golden retriever vibes. I love a good hidden identity theme and this one was a fresh take that I enjoyed. The cliff hanger was something else and had me on the edge of my seat, excited to read book two!!!

Don't pass this one up
I absolutely ADORED this story. Seth and Erin are a refreshing take on overdone tropes. Josh is intriguing and Derik and Libby are awesome side characters with their own story lines.
I didn't see the twist at the end coming and I literally threw my Kindle when the FMC discovered something and had to deal with it. The final page wasn't surprising but welcome and I cannot wait for a sequel. (There better be one! I need more of these characters.)
By far one of my favorite reads this year and now I'm annoyed that I kept putting it off. I'll read this one again and again. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

An urban fantasy with an excruciatingly slow burn romance sub plot, demons, fantastic side characters and the cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers?... yes please!!!
I blitzed through this book. It was fun, engaging and I couldn't put it down. I had no idea where the story was headed until *redacted* and holy moly I most definitely did not see that twist coming!
The story follows a nerdy, orphaned, college girl, who's tortured by nightmares and visions, and finds her world yet again, turned upside down through no fault of her own. Her discovery leads to a scary purpose - destroy them before they can destroy you and the world as you know it.
A feisty FMC, found family, good vs evil, friends to wannabe lovers, immortals, touch them and die, fated mates and a healthy dose of spice and tension in all the right places. I may also be slightly obsessed with the love interest...
Highly recommend. Cannot wait for the next book!

This book left me on a cliff so big I can’t even see where the ground is.
Honestly, though… WHAT the actual HE**?? I am SO confused right now I can’t even think straight. The last few chapters opened up so many questions and made me SO suspicious of absolutely everything that I think my trust issues will get worse after this.
The book is fast paced, with a combination of ordinary and paranormal scenes that made the story that much more entertaining. You had Nephilim fighting demons in one chapter, and in the next you had a bunch of friends playing drunk truth or dare like there was nothing else going on.
Since this book was an awakening of Erin’s power, we were just as clueless as she was (and she knew nothing, really, but she learned it as she went, right along with us). There were a bunch of secret clues and things mentioned that we had no idea would be important later, and even with all those clues the ending leaves you with 110 questions and approximately, uhh… ZERO answers (I am dying for book two, gimme gimme!!)
Erin’s character was honestly amazing. She was snarky, she was funny, and she was, at her heart, an awesome person and even better friend. I loved seeing her and Seth bicker, though she would bicker with just about anyone and be the best at it.
She was also very determined, training and doing her best to become a better fighter and wanting to help her friends even when she doubted herself and even when she had her heart thorn to pieces (btw, I AM FURIOUS with this!!! I NEED explanations like I need air).
She went through a very traumatic experience mere days after finding out that she wasn’t human (check the trigger warnings for this book before reading!!), and even so, she fought against it. Not by eying perfect or by ignoring it, but by acknowledging it and accepting that it happened, and working her butt off to ensure that nobody - not even her - would have to go through that again.
I also really liked Seth (except for… you know) and he was a great friend and leader. His heart was made of gold and it was honestly so cute to see how much he cared for Erin. He was also fearless and loyal, wanting to help everyone, most of all his friends.
Josh was okay, though I feel something's icky about him??? I may be wrong,I may be his way of speaking idk, I just feel something’s off. Derik and Libby I really liked, their personalities made their group more fun and entertaining and I really enjoyed how close everyone got in such a small period of time.
The ending was unexpected, made me feel maybe all the feelings I had all at once, and left me hoping to get the next book as soon as humanly possible.
Overall, if you enjoy a high stakes fantasy in a modern setting, angels and nephilim fighting demons, and some romance with trials ahead, this is certainly for you! (Again, please do read the trigger warnings before reading).
Thank you so much V. M. Pire for sending me your book! I can’t wait to read the next one!

Wings of Destiny by V.M. Pire
What an incredible story! Wings of Destiny completely pulled me into its world of mystery, danger, romance, and the supernatural. I loved watching the characters and their relationships develop throughout the story. The friendships, found-family dynamics, and romantic tension all felt meaningful, and I became genuinely invested in Erin and the people who become part of her world.
Erin’s character growth was easily one of my favorite parts. At the beginning, she carries so much hurt from feeling like a rejected daughter who was left behind, but as her world begins to unravel, we get to watch her discover an inner strength she never knew she possessed. Her journey from an ordinary, book-obsessed college student into someone realizing she may be connected to something far bigger…and potentially hold the key to saving Earth from a demon apocalypse…was incredibly satisfying.
The mystery surrounding the disappearances, Erin’s terrifying waking nightmares, and the secrets buried in her past kept me turning the pages. And can we talk about swords that can actually speak to her and guide her hand?! I absolutely loved that element and the way it added another layer of magic and intrigue to Erin’s journey.
Then there’s the romance. Friends-to-lovers tension, undeniable connections, and that lingering question… could this be fated mates? 👀 Nothing is quite that simple or confirmed, which only made me more invested in seeing where these relationships go.
With found family, morally grey characters, supernatural danger, demons, spice, mysterious powers, talking swords, and a heroine slowly discovering just how extraordinary she might be, Wings of Destiny gave me everything I want from an urban fantasy romance.
I’m completely invested in Erin’s journey and cannot wait to see what comes next!

Trigger warning: this book does contain SA
Erin is your typical bookworm college student. She begins to suffer from strange nightmares, which she chalks up to being sleep deprived while cramming for finals. She confides in her lifelong best friend, Seth, about her strange dreams. Seth drops a major bombshell on her, they are both Nephilims (half human and half angel). On top of her learning her new identity, she begins to wrestle with feelings for Seth. Seth and his gang of experienced Nephilims begin to hunt demons who recently destroyed a power plant and kidnapped 13 people. Doing so proves to be risky and Erin ends up facing the consequences. While in the captivity of demons, Erin learns she is the Key. Erin must learn to hone her newfound powers and protect herself from demons who see her as the key to releasing the others from Hell.
I really enjoyed the demons vs angels storyline. It's definitely giving Supernature vibes. The story itself it a quick read. I can't believe this ended on a cliff hanger like that. Especially because I am feeling royally pissed at Seth right now. I loved seeing Erin grow into her powers and become a total badass demon fighter. My biggest issue was all the quirky little nicknames (ie Snooty pants, Captain Creepy), it was just kind of over the top for me. Other than that I really enjoyed and will be waiting for book two!

What the heck is going on in this book?! I even got tricked by the author’s pen name. I thought this was gonna be a light vampire romance read—turns out, I was wrong.
First off, this book is slow burn, both in romance and action. It took me a whole month to finish it. My excitement only started kicking in after I got through the first 20%.
Second, the FMC in this book feels so flat and emotionless. Okay, I get it—she’s been through some seriously traumatic stuff. Maybe that’s why she’s so ridiculous and sarcastic, brushing everything off with that bitter attitude. But if I were her, I’d probably be losing my mind dealing with the other characters and goes berserk to MMC.
The middle part? Yeah… way too slow again. Too many filler scenes. Please, I really don’t need to know their entire daily routines—the plot was dragging.
Thankfully, after hitting 70% of the book, I started enjoying the banter between the FMC and MMC. I even found myself humming a cozy K-drama romance OST while reading it. And then—boom, the plot took another turn. Why did the author do that to the FMC?! I seriously felt so bad for her.
By the time I reached the last scenes, I was hooked and stayed up until 4 AM to finish it.
That cliffhanger ending saved this book. I need the next one ASAP! I have to know if my suspicions about those shady characters were right.

That cliffhanger ending saved this book. I need the next one ASAP! I have to know if my suspicions about those shady characters were right.

The plot could have been amazing.
The dialogue and the language were way too juvenile for me. There were a lot of sentences that made me cringe and reread because it didn't make sense.
I wasn't sure if the author was trying a new approach or just trying to make up weird phrases. Ot was odd and made me focus on those way longer than necessary.
The MFC....... I am not sure about the approach that was taken with her. She wanted to be tough, but she also cried when she didn't get her way or something happened that she didn't like. She was always in her head about the same things over and over, even when the others reassured her.
The obsession between her and Seth took away from the story. So much of it was spent with Erin fawning over him. Crying because he showed Libby attention. To me, Erin was very unlikable.
The amount of foul language was insane. Now, I read books with explicit language. I have no issues, but when it seems every sentence has one, it's overkill.
The only sensible person in this book is Josh. He's the only character I actually liked.
I also don't think I would be out drinking when my life was in danger. The fact that her friends encouraged this just made me want to bang my head. Where is the sense in the saviors? I am pretty sure that's what they are supposed to be?
The end of chapter 41 and the beginning of chapter 42 made absolutely no sense to me. I'm not sure if that's gonna be addressed in the next book.
* Love Triangle? Maybe?
* Cliffhanger
* Slow Burn
* Clean/ No Spice
* Triggers
* Fantasy Romance
* College
* Chosen One

I am so glad I picked this book up. It was fast-paced, easy to understand, easy to follow and incredibly well written. I devoured this book in less than 24 hours and the closer I got to the end of the book the more I wished it was an 800+ page book instead of 400! I could have kept reading this storyline for weeks. The character development is incredible and fascinating and the storyline and backstory is layered in so well.
We switch between three POVs throughout the book, mainly focusing on the FMC's POV. Even with the POV shifts it is so clear what is going on and what you need to follow. Sometimes it can get a little muddled when you have multiple POVs but this book did it right.
I have nothing but good things to say about this. If you like fantasy, slow-burn (not necessarily spicy), action, Angels vs. Demons - this book is for you.
I need more from this series IMMEDIATELY. I go into a lot of my reads blind, so I wasn't 100% sure what I was getting into when I opened this book. I planned to have it on my TBR for a little while because I have a trillion unread books and this is very new to my collection but it kept calling to me and I'm so happy I started it!

Our FMC Erin is a bookish college student with abandonment issues who finds herself suddenly crushing on her golden retriever energy best friend Seth. And just as she starts having these feelings she finds out he's been keeping a secret from her. Well two secrets, he's descended from an angel/human love connection....and so is she. So now we've got best friends spending every day with each other, practically living together, and at least one pining after the other. Plus power manifestations, training montages, demons are real and after our FMC. Throw in some chosen-one vibes and we've got a whole lot of angst and steam. Then toss in a smarmy drama king friend, a man who likes to get on our golden retrievers nerves by flirting with our Erin, AND another part angel female who (we hope) is Seth's ex, and this drama 💣 could go off at any minute.
Will they, won't they on multiple fronts. Illusions. Trauma. Drama. Plot. Plot twists. Action. Letting off steam. So much to enjoy in this book.
