When Laurelle is forced to marry a cruel prince in order to elevate her family’s social position, she knows her dreams of a loving marriage are best forgotten. However, one act of kindness sends her running from her royal envoy and tumbling head-first into the faerie realm. There, she is greeted by the monstrous-looking faerie king, Emrys, who claims she is his prisoner and he will be seeing to her punishment.
She should fear him. Yet, when the opportunity to flee comes, why does she hesitate to take it?
Is it because Emrys, despite the claws and sharp teeth, treats her like a prized jewel? Treats her with more kindness than even her own family. He tends to her every whim and wish and demands only one thing from to shed the shame she feels over her desires and be free. The king tells her that whatever she dreams, he shall make it so. Is this opportunity too good to be true? Can she trust what her heart is telling her about this faerie king? Or is she better off forsaking the untold pleasure he’s offering and returning to the human world?
A Kiss from a Faerie King is the fourth book in a series of standalone novellas. This is the perfect paranormal romance when you are looking for both a quick and smutty read!
I absolutely loved everything about this book. Emrys, the MMC, was literally perfect. Not only did he make it his mission to help Laurelle (FMC) get rid of her insecurities, but he also granted every one of her dreams without a complaint! He is the standard for men!
The most important part? Obviously the smut 😂🥵 Emrys just knew how to hit all the right spots and his libido was just through the roof!
Thank you so much Charlotte for sending me an ARC of this book! I desperately need more books in this series 💜
Laurelle is a princess that's forced to marry a cruel prince, and when she had a chance to run, she did. She fell down to the faerie realm and that's when the Faerie King decided that he's his queen.
I love the gentle way on how Emrys approached Laurelle and how he courted her. It was slowburn and that's hard to do in a short book. We saw growth in Laurelle and how she came to love the faerie realm.
P.S. I love seeing the previous characters in this book too.
This is an auto buy author for me love all her work. However, the ending was so cringey. The rest of it was good though interesting story, good smut, likable characters. Just the wrap up made me rethink my whole opinion. Love to see women reclaim their lives but miss ma’am did not need all those monologues.
A Kiss from a Faerie King is a dazzling, dangerous plunge into the fae world, where beauty and menace weave together like an intoxicating spell. Laurelle finds herself caught in the irresistible grip of a Faerie King who’s as unpredictable as he is irresistible—danger wrapped in velvet and thorns.
This book is: 📍 Laurelle, a girl thrown into a realm where nothing is quite what it seems 📍 A Faerie King whose charm hides a ruthless hunger for power—and for her 📍 A twisted dance of trust and betrayal, desire and danger 📍 Magic that binds tighter the more you resist
The romance here is deliciously complicated—he’s not just a lover but a force of nature, pulling Laurelle into a world where every smile could hide a blade. Their connection crackles with tension, and Laurelle’s fierce spirit fights to keep her heart intact even as she falls deeper under his spell.
Bonus points for: 🍃 Lush, otherworldly settings that shimmer with menace 🍃 A Faerie King who’s both elegant and terrifying 🍃 A heroine who holds her own in a world built on illusion 🍃 Moments of breathtaking beauty mixed with sharp, heartbreaking edges
The story’s pacing wavers a bit, but the emotional stakes and the intoxicating power play between Laurelle and the Faerie King more than make up for it.
Final verdict: Enchanting, dangerous, and utterly addictive. A Kiss from a Faerie King is a fairy tale turned deliciously dark—with a heroine you’ll root for and a villain you can’t stop watching.
i could’ve easily finished this in a day or two but I was busy with other books 🫢. I have read all the previous instalments of “kiss from a monster” series and I’ve found them all enjoyable to read. My favourite though is still Kiss from a Kraken (book 2) 😙✨.
This being said though, I did enjoy this for what it was. It was spicy, smutty, passionate and erotic. I always love a possessive and loving monster and Emrys (hero) was just that. I did like Laurelle (heroine) too, she was sweet and likeable. The two of them together were cute and i always like a fated mates trope ✨🥹.
I’ll always be grateful in finding this series as it was one of the first monster romance experiences I had (back when there was only book 1) and so I feel I’ll always admire and support these books for that ❤️. So I might be biased in my reviews at times but it is what it is 😄.
All in all I thought it was decent, it might’ve fell a little flat towards the end for me but I still had a nice time and for me Emrys was the stand out 😋.
It’s 3.75/low 4 out of 5 stars for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
-tropes/genres- ❤️monster romance ☺️fae x human ✨virgin fmc 💚Fae mmc 🍆size difference 📖novella (4th in the series) 😍love at first sight 💫fated mates! 🤎POC heroine 🥰”good girl.” 🥹cute nickname (he calls her “my little blossom” 😏possessive hero 🤌🏻HEA guarantee
Had a bit of trouble visualizing what Emery was supposed to look like. For some reason I thought he looked like the trees-people from lord of the rings or something. So did he look human with spiky teeth, claws, and completely green or what? I loved the epilogue that included all the past characters! I nice recap of the past stories and update to how they are doing. Something about this one kept lagging and other books captured my attention. I did take many breaks from this novella compared to the others. Hero(s) - ⅘ Emry good-natured Heroine(s) - 2/5 Laurelle found her forgettable Secondary Characters - 3/5 pesky
Plot/Storyline - ⅕ totally escaped my mind Romance/Steam - 4/5 silly, weird, fun, and ditsy Drama/Conflict/Angst - 2/5 not enough drama they literally got along the whole time she did not even try to escape snooze Worldbuilding/Atmosphere - 5/5 Writing Style - 4/5
This review is based on my personal preferences and the rating reflects how much I enjoyed reading this book.
I feel like this series is not as strong as Monstrous Mates. The stories are shorter and because of this maybe it can not get to its full potential. I love faeries but this one was not as good for me as the others from the KFaM series. Something just felt off. Still and enjoyable and easy read.
This series just gets better and better! The book has a perfect balance between romance, plot, and spice! I loved how Emrys was immediately ready to do everything for her, willing to do all he could to make her fall in love with him and earn her trust. Laurelle was a lovely FMC, a tiny bit bland (I think she fell too quickly for him, I would've liked for her to be more freaked out), but fun nonetheless! The spice? Hot and sizzling as always!
I want to thank Charlotte for sending me the ARC to review!
One thing that Charlotte will always deliver is good smutty fun.
The magic and world descriptions were amazing. I definitely got vivid images that felt like adult Disney in my head.
It was so nice to see the other couples from the previous novellas as well. The connections were fun!
I had a blast like I always do. Definitely recommend this for someone looking for mainly spice, but with a sprinkle of obsessed Monster and magical goodness.
Thank you to Charlotte for the e-ARC opportunity. The review is my honest one.
All of Charlotte Swan’s books are amazing and well written but this particular novella was GORGEOUS. It was significantly longer than the three previous novellas in the series but I’m so glad that it was. It was slow burn and magical and had a depth of character/experience that one would typically find in a full length novel. I love how she brought the three previous couples back for the epilogue. So sweet (spicy) and reminiscent. Emrys and Laurelle were literally made for each other. Literally.
I loved this story! I really enjoy reading this series. I’ve read the demon and the kraken one too and I’m not sure which one is my favorite. I wish I had Laurelle’s confidence, especially for a virgin!
I want to know so much about the faerie realm. I wanted there to be more about how time worked! But I know these are short and sweet books, though I would’ve loved hearing more about this realm.

I am a part of the beta reading team and had the pleasure of reading this first. I absolutely loved it. It’s my favourite of this series so far.
I would recommend it not just for monster romance lovers but also anyone who wants to get into the genre. It’s really cute and also spicy. I absolutely love Emrys and let me tell you, he is obsessed. Laurelle is an icon and I love her so much.
I've been waiting for this book a few months now, right after finishing A Kiss From A Dragon Lord. The moment I saw it released on kindle, I had to buy it. I love Charlotte Swan and her work, she's bringing us something that's not easy to find. I will always love these novellas, and I won't stop waiting for the next one to release.
4/5 🌟 I really love Charlotte’s writing style. It’s so easy to read and I never find myself skimming through her books. Also. I always love her MMC & FMC. Also her stories and never overly complicated. Like this book for example, we got a quick backstory for the FMC then she fell into the Faerie realm, met the king, they fell in love and fucked and end of story. Nothing to complain about
As the fourth book in the “Kiss From A Monster” series, I feel like Swan’s writing has improved a lot. The books started as pure steamy scenes with barely any plot to an even mix of plot and spicy scenes. I loved the scenes describing the world and the slower paced romance/lust that built throughout the novella. I look forward to reading the rest of this series as well as Swan’s other works.
Well it took me a little bit to get through it, but once I got a little further into it. I was reading straight fairy porn and i'm not even mad about it. I kept getting worried that their was gonna be a twist where he was actually a bad guy that was tricking her but I think thats just ptsd from acotar making me like tamlin at first.
I got this as an ARC and I don't regret it. The couple was so sweet. Our FMC was a sweet baby who deserves all the love. The MMC was also a sweetheart but he knew how to make things spicy. I can't wait to read more and to see what happens to the princess.
Had so much fun reading this latest monster book from Charlotte she really does not miss with these. Emrys was really everything, immediately down bad and ready to do whatever Laurelle wanted. We could all only be so lucky. I absolutely can not wait to read about Caryssa!
I have read all of her other kiss by monsters books, and I do have to say this is my favorite by far. Story is surprisingly sweet with the male just wanting her to have freedom, she has never experienced. A fun nighttime read.
this one was my favorite!!! i loved the added length, it gave so much more room for added juicy details. my only note: i wish he had also had a “beast form” that he could transform into when he got mad. but honestly? it didn’t really need it. i will be reading this again. probably soon.

Charlotte swan books are always quick easy reads but always entertaining! This one is probably my favorite out of the series so far. Thought the last one was my favorite until I read this one today!
