Rebounding from a shattered heart, Ember Solis is out of touch with the innocence and softness she once knew.
She wears her grief like a coat of armor. She uses it to keep people at a distance.
Rain Fortin is a lone wolf and like Ember, he is shouldering massive heartache. He reluctantly rises to the leadership of The Den. It is a life he wants nothing to do with. It is a life that has taken so much from him.
When Ember returns to campus, it feels like she’s everywhere, even when he tries to hide.
Will Ember’s strength be Rain’s undoing? Will his tenderness become her salvation?
To me rating books are mostly a simple thing. I am an easy 5 ⭐️ giver, but I do rate books by how I feel reading, I also consider the writing and plot but how it makes me fell is my biggest concern. That’s why this duet wasn’t a 5⭐️ for me. But i am not going to rant about the way the story goes because I did read Vee Taylor’s note in the beginning and in the end of the duet, I know those books are her Roman Empire and she felt the need to write the story this way so people would get the message that life goes on beyond grief and no matter how sad or tragic some situations in life are, you can still move on and be happy. So I get it and it’s beautiful that she feels this way and wanted to make it special. But I normally have a hard time getting a duet or trilogy where you give me a full book with a love story that I was cheering for, to them kill the character in the end and now you tell me that the real love story is between her with his stepbrother/best friend! On the first book I wasn’t obsessed about the book like some books make me, but I was invested and Ash ticked most of my boxes as a MMC. He was a tortured soul, he was brooding, violent at times, he was what I normally like. When I finished the first book I was CERTAIN he wasn’t dead, that he was somehow coming back. But that wasn’t the case and right in the beginning of book 2 you learn that he is in fact dead and 8 months had passed. I mean WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? Not only he was a tortured soul suffering with deep depression but also he didn’t have his DESERVING happy ending. So at that point the book lost me. I couldn’t feel anything towards Rain and Ember, I couldn’t feel any chemistry or love. I actually think if she had a love story with Santiago would’ve made more sense. Rain is not a bad character, that is not the case. But if felt like we had nothing from him in book 1 and if that was the intention of the author from the beginning, she should’ve at least gave us his POV in the first book so we could’ve get to know him and warm up for their relationship. I also thought her brother and father were going to be more important than literally nothing, I would’ve love to see the battle between the Cartel and the Italian Mafia and the characters interactions with. But we don’t get that either, so I guess it is what it is. I know many people love this duet, even though I like it, it was just average to me.

If you thought Vee Taylor ripped your heart out in Into The Darkness, just wait because she takes that little heart of yours, stomps on it a few times and then puts it back together with some tape. To say that I will never be the same again after reading this duet is an understatement. I truly don't know what Vee did you do to me but I can tell you one thing, my eye balls can not shed another tear.
I am going to start with saying I don't truly know how to start off this review. The main word that I have for this book is conflicted. I truly felt like I was in a love triangle with a dead person. And I didn't want to let go of my love for Ash. Which quite honestly tore me up inside. I almost felt like I was cheating on Ash. Like I didn't want to move on. I still don't. This duet brings out a lot of emotions in me. Which to be honest will take some time for me to fully unpack, I won't lie about that. In fact, I am going to need days, week, maybe even months to get my emotions at bay.
I loved Into The Darkness with my whole being. I loved (nope, I STILL love) my sweet baby Ash. And the ending of Into The Darkness ruined me. Now I went into reading Into The Light with the hopes that my sweet baby Ash would be still alive but unfortunately that is not the case. I think that also altered the way that I began reading this story. I was pissed off and harbored resentment towards Vee (sorry girl, I love you but my heart is not ok lol) and I'm not going to lie I was not willing to give our new MMC the time of day. I was told to read this book with an open mind and trust the process. And honestly I wish I did. So let me tell you this.... DO AS I SAY AND NOT AS I DO, trust the process and go into this book with an OPEN MIND! You will thank yourself for that.
Into The Light is a book about grieving and healing after loss. It is also about finding love after loss. Ash and Ember were true soul mates and unfortunately they will not live their days til old age, but I loved that Ember was able to find a HEA. I will say I loved Ember's growth from the first book to this book. She truly grew into this strong independent woman. I grieved with her. I cried with her. And my heart broke for her. But my heart also healed with her.
I would like to note before you read this duet PLEASE do yourself a favor and read the trigger warnings. This duet is very HEAVY on the mental health representation in men. There are tropics that can be very triggering to you. And this may alter how you view the story. The events in book one may have you hoping for a different outcome and storyline for book two. I think every one was hoping for something different based on people I have talked to. But at the end of the day I feel like this duet stimulates a MUCH BIGGER discussion on mental health in men.
* I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Vee Taylor and The Author Agency for allowing me to read Into The Light as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.
I was beyond excited to dive into this book as soon as it released after Book 1 left us on such a brutal cliffhanger. I am however so let down in how it all played out. So many details between book 1 and 2 didn’t match up for me. The chemistry was great during the first half but felt flat during the actual spice scenes. The details in Ash’s death left me so confused and ultimately I just feel very disappointed.
“Into the Light” by Vee Taylor was one of my most anticipated reads for October and the third quarter of 2024. Unfortunately, it also became one of the worst endings in a duet. There’s only been one other duet I’ve read where the first book was so good, setting readers up for an amazing conclusion, only for that second book to erase everything. In some respects, this one was even worse because the other duet is a paranormal romance.
I understand that an underlying storyline of “Into the Light” is about the mental health aspects associated with grief and loss, finding love again after grieving a loss, and mental illness in general, such as depression, anxiety, panic disorders, and suicidal ideation. However, the story we’re given has so many additional elements I feel take away from the main narrative rather than adding to it.
“Into the Light” isn’t the story I thought we would get. It’s its own story and it negates and wipes away everything that is Ash and Ember. In addition, there are other plotlines that create unnecessary drama, and details of this story are either rushed or lack creativity. A part of me wishes I DNF’d this book, but I honestly held out hope that Ash is still alive - even until the end. For these reasons, I can only give “Into the Light” a ⭐.5-star rating (rounded).
While “Into the Light” didn’t meet any of my expectations and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it if I’m asked, I still think if you’re interested in reading it, you absolutely should. Please make sure to read the content warnings if you intend to do so.
The following are my extended thoughts and contains SPOILERS. Please skip the remainder of this post if you don’t want to read SPOILERS.
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read “Into the Light” in advance. Even though, this book wasn’t for me, I look forward to see what’s in store next.
I've waited a month to write this review, and I can honestly say I'm still pissed off about reading this book. To say that I was BEYOND disappointed is the understatement of the year.
First, this was marketed as the second book of a duet. WRONG. A duet is when it takes two books to tell THE SAME FUCKING COUPLES STORY. That was not this. The author wrote Into the Darkness and Into the Light at the same time... She KNEW what she was doing. She leaned into is Ash (who she made us fall in love with in book 1) dead or alive and who's Ember's MMC for book 2 in the six months we had to wait between books. I never ONCE thought that Ash was truly dead (because I was under the impression I was reading a ROMANCE). I thought he was faking his death to team up with his rival/Ember's brother to take down his father who was the head of the Cartel, but NOPE, he died at the end of book 1 even though she left it open ended. Then when the book released and people started complaining it wasn't romance (it's not) and it wasn't an HEA (it wasn't), the author had the audacity to get on social media and say that people should've known Ash was dead (nope, not on us for thinking this). This book and this response is complete and utter BULLSHIT. She knew if she was honest that she would've lost readers (me being one of them), so she made a choice to lead us all on that Ash could still be alive.
Multiple times throughout the book it was like the author was trying to convince herself, and therefore us the readers, that Ember + Rain made sense. They didn't. There were multiple times that Rain made it out to be like he met/saw Ember first and was doing Ash a favor by letting him have her in book 1. NOPE. That's not how that went down. My brain may be mush at times, but I remember who met her first and it wasn't Rain. I also didn't appreciate that the author took one of my favorite parts of the first book (the initiation scene) and was in a sense shaming anyone who would participate or want to or liked it. Ew.
Now I love primal play and a good daddy shmink. Key word good. But right after Ember discloses her big secret about her additional loss (which was totally unnecessary and felt wrong on so many levels IMO) is when these two things are done. You're pry thinking, but Britt you just commented on not shaming anyone, and to be clear, I'm not shaming these two for wanting to do those things (which I do love in books), but it didn't make sense to the story for the first time they bang to be done in that way. The FMC had just had a panic attack, was balling her eyes out, and came clean with a truth she'd been keeping for almost a year. If they would've went on to have a very passionate/emotional bang session, I would've understood, but that's not what happened.
There were a few other cringy scenes, two of which happened during their photography class. They couldn't talk to each other about their true feelings except in front of their teacher/classmates? GTFO. The level of secondhand embarrassment was beyond. Last thing I'll say is I would've still been upset since Ash was dead, but Ember + Santiago (her bodyguard) had more chemistry and made more sense than Ember + Rain. Just saying.
The only reason I finished the book was because I promised a friend I would so we could talk about one of our most anticipated reads of the year with the full picture. And the picture wasn't good. This book took over as my number one rage read and it's not a spot any book should want to be, yet here we are. And after all this, if you still want to read this book all I have to say is Godspeed my friend. I'll be taking a break from this author. I am not a fan of lying to your readers.

Woweee… that was an emotional rollercoaster if I’ve ever been on one and man i did not want it to end ! 😩
Firstly, a massive thankyou to Vee for the trust! You’re amazing, and as hurt as I was after months of hoping and praying our boy would be okay, I am in awe of your strength to create and share the story you have- it truly could not have ended any other way and I am beyond amazed at your talent! ❤️🩹
Into the Light is the second instalment in the University of Isles series and follows on from the devastation of Ash’s suspicious and tragic demise. Ember and Rain fight their seperate battles to come to terms to understand what happened one fateful night, and ultimately realise that blaming themselves helps no one, and hurts each other…
With Into the Darkness ending on SUCH a cliffhanger, I feel there is little to share about the plot without impacting the experience of reading this book without ANY spoilers. What i will share is this;
Ember Solis is one of the few curvy FMC’s I’ve read about, and she is depicted so well where despite not being the tiny skinny girl, her body is not in the main focus, but her witt and intelligence is so well described and recognised. Ember’s development is so real and relatable, as she battles with growing up in a restrictive world, fights to stand up for herself, and finds herself through the hurt, grief, and loneliness. Although we have to thank Santiago for his input bc he is truly one of my new fave side characters !
Rain. FUCKING. Fortin. Ohhhh boyyyyy… 🥵 I think he is VERY close to rivalling Rhys “crawl to me” Larson and I am not even a little bit mad about it 🤭 Much like ember, he pushed through his mental limits to be the man he knew he was required to be, while mourning his best friend/ brother, and missing the girl he fell in love with over a year ago. Rain is the definition of a true brother, and an absolute pillar of strength, but I fell in love with the way we see him and Pico open up to one another and find the middle ground of being leaders, and having the ability to be emotional.
This book shows the reality behind men’s mental health, and holds onto the importance of sharing your battles with those around you. Vee explores some of the darkest aspects of life and brings to light just how much one persons absence can affect a community, even those you truly wouldn’t expect to be hurt.
Thankyou again for sharing this ARC with me, if you’re ready to be simultaneously hurt and healed, don’t forget to preorder this beautiful book ready to read on 24/10 🫶🏽

Thank you to The Author Agency and Vee Taylor for providing me with an arc.
Into the Light is a direct sequel to Into the Darkness and you must read book 1 first. This will have spoilers for book 1 but I am going to try my best to avoid spoilers for this book including who the mmc is. If you have not read book 1 and want to go in spoiler free leave now.

I absolutely loved Into the Darkness and the cliffhanger destroyed me. This book was not at all what I expected it to be truthfully, nothing went how I thought it would but it was so much better for that. It went completely not how I thought it would but it worked even better than how I originally expected. This book was beautifully heartbreaking and tackles the very harsh realities of what happens when someone loses their battle to their mental health. Vee Taylor is an expert at creating beautiful stories that deal with these harsh realities and this is the most heartbreaking so far but she handles it so fucking well.
Ember is dealing with Ash’s death and what it means when someone you love loses their battle to their inner demons. She knows there must be more to the story and comes back the the Isle ready to dig to find out the full story that lead to Ash’s death. She teams up with an unlikely ally to uncover the secrets Ash was hiding and clear her name in the process.
I am not going to say who the mmc is but I will say that I loved how Vee contrasted the relationship Ember has in this book with the one in the first book. It is hard to say much without spoilers but I will say I think this book’s relationship was fantastic and so well deserved.
I highly recommend this duet and I still can’t wait to see what Vee Taylor continues to write going forward. I loved the mental health discussions in this book and it was handled in a way I haven’t seen in romance yet. This book made me cry multiple times but it was everything I didn’t know I wanted from it. Please go pick up this duet when it is fully released.
Into the Light Vee Taylor University of Isles 2. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ This book…. Ok let’s start with the last book first. The last book ended and I BAWLED my eyes out. Completely bawled like a baby laying on the ground in the fetal position. This book healed my heart The best description I have of this book is, beautifully painful. It rips your soul out, makes you think, mends it, and then shoves it back into you. It has one of my biggest triggers in it, but I read it regardless because I knew if anyone could help through that trigger it was Vee. The way she wrote this book, and mental health issues, and the dark things that come up was amazing. And let’s be real here. The SPICE 🌶️🥵 The primal play. 🥵 This book is amazing. I can’t WAIT for anyone that had their heart ripped out by into the darkness, to read this. Please read this series! It’s amazing
Those letters absolutely gutted me! I think it didn’t hit me till I read the authors note that he really wasn’t with us anymore. I was really put off by Rain and Ember being together too. I guess it was because I became very invested in Ash and Ember so reading their POVs in this book felt like a punch to the heart. Regardless I’m happy that Rain came around and has healed with Ember together. Rip baby Sol 💔
I really enjoyed this second book. It was extremely emotional and a bit cheesy at points but I really love how it all ended. I really loved how rain and ember found themselves and then came together and became even stronger.
My favorite quote “Being my partner means that you’re my equal—the one I lean on when I need support.”
Rain is a big sweetie pie and I love him

Warning this book will pull at your heart strings! This takes off right where the first one ends. It shows how you navigate and go on after such a heart breaking traumatic end. I loved seeing the growth of Rain and Ember. Seeing them fight and help each other go thru this is just beautiful. The mental health rep is amazing, it needs to be shared more!
I enjoyed the storyline. The writing was just mediocre. Super shallow character development. 2 books and I never felt a connection to a single one of them 🤷♀️
If there’s one thing about Vee Taylor’s books, it’s that she’s going to break your heart but put it back together!
Into the Light is book 2 in the University of Isles series (if you haven’t read the first book just stop right here)
Book 2 picks up a short time after we left off from the cliffhanger of Into the Darkness. We again meet Ember, who is trying to just pick up the pieces of her life after Ash’s “death” (at this point that’s what i was calling it 😂😂). We’re also reintroduced to Rain, Ash’s stepbrother who has now ultimately begrudgingly taken Ash’s position in the “family business”.
We learned that Ember has moved to a cabin that Ash had purchased for the two of them to move to and has been basically staying there completing her schoolwork online since everyone at school is adamant that it’s her fault that Ash was dead. Ember shortly decides after that that it’s time for her to go back to campus and face all the people given the fact that she has a support system with her. She quickly realizes that she’s easily the most hated on campus and decides that she’s going to power through because she knows the truth.
Rain isn’t having such an easy time dealing with Ash‘s death. The two of them are so close that he feels as if a piece of himself is missing. Rain also returning to classes on campus, ends up in a class with Ember, not only in class but partners on a project. While Ember and Rain never really spoke too much while Ash was alive they do share that bond of being such important parts of his life.
As the story continues Rain discovers that he has feelings for Ember and probably always has since he first met her and it seems Ember has reciprocal feelings.
The two of them still so heartbroken over Ash’s death. Try to figure out why he did it and what was going on. Rain seems to understand more as he spent so much time with Ash but he knows how sad he truly was in life. As they go back to the crash site where Ash ultimately passed away, they find out that Ember’s brother happened to be there that night, which is more reason why people feel that she was to blame for his passing. But her brother is adamant that he did nothing wrong.
While back at the crash shit again looking for clues, they discover that Ash left each of them a letter (seriously have tissues ready for this part) explaining why he did what he did and ultimately giving Rain his blessing with Ember.
We also discover that Ash’s dad was involved in some extra sneaky stuff which Ember’s brother and Rain’s friend and 2nd in command Pico discover. They confront him and let him know that Pico will be taking over Rain's position and that Rain was leaving the family to live a normal life like he's wanted.
When I tell you I had NO clue what to expect going into this book being that it was such a HUGE cliffhanger at the end of the previous book.......the mental health representation in this book is AMAZING and touched upon in such a way that its not overwhelmingly harsh to someone who may be going through or have gone through these issues.
Thank you Vee Taylor for a chance to listen to an advance copy of this book and thank you for breaking my heart and putting it back together again!
I had the privilege of reading this as an ARC (spoiler free) and all I can say is I was emotionally victimized by Vee Taylor once again! 💔😢
I was told to trust the process and I did. That doesn’t mean my heart didn’t break for all my fictional characters involved and was hoping for a miracle of sorts! I saw where Vee was taking this story and I get it now!
The writing for this book was great! I loved watching Ember grow as a character. To see how she dealt with her trauma and grief to the person she came to be is something to give credit to Vee as an author!
This book dealt with heavy topics and broke me in many ways but also healed me too! I’m happy that Ember finally got her HEA!
“I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you.” ~Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
Am I the only person who thinks the writing for both of these books was terrible?? The storyline was great, yet the writing is jumpy, and lacks the punch it needs for such heavy topics. I also felt the language used for the characters was at times quite formal and felt odd for college students involved with the cartel.
The way the mental health struggles was written, was done really well, it just seemed at odds with the rest of the book. Also, the hairdressing scene?? What was that?
“I had to remember that life wasn’t about seeing the entire forest at once. I needed to start by tending to the individual leaves, placing them where they belonged, and eventually, I could step back and appreciate the whole tree.”
Into the Light by Vee Taylor is the second book in the University of Isles duet. It’s essential to read book 1, Into the Darkness, before diving into this one. Santiago

Before starting this duet, please check the trigger warnings and remember to take care of your mental health.
This book picks up right after the cliffhanger in the first installment, returning to the world of Isles. It’s filled with secrets, lies, and mysteries to unravel. I won’t give too much away, but here are my thoughts:
After the ending in the first book, I expected this sequel to unfold differently. The twists caught me off guard, and I was initially skeptical. However, the book is well-crafted, realistically depicting the stages of grief and how people experience and struggle through similar events differently. You can truly feel every emotion. Our hearts were shattered in book one, but Vee Taylor puts the pieces back together here.
⚠️ Spoilers below! ⚠️
Mental health struggles are real, and often men don’t seek therapy to confront their demons. Ash, groomed to lead the cartel, had no choice, which tormented him. The year he spent with Ember allowed him to experience love for the first time. Their love was passionate and fierce. For Ember, Ash was her first love, her first everything. She faced grief and went to therapy, but returning to the place where she met and fell in love with him was difficult, and many blamed her. Now, Rain has taken charge of the cartel. He and Ash were like brothers, inseparable since they were seven, despite not sharing the same blood. So, it was incredibly hard for Rain.
Vee, chapter 22 broke my heart, but the letters even more so. I don’t usually cry when reading, but the depth of those letters made me feel Ash’s pain. When he said, 'I am so tired, Ember. So fucking exhausted,' it broke me. He couldn’t cope with what he was forced to do. Ash couldn’t deal with what he was forced into, and he didn’t seek help because, being in a position of power, he couldn’t allow himself to be vulnerable. Rain had always protected Ash, but this time, he couldn’t. Ash did everything he could to protect Ember and Rain, which made it all the more heartbreaking.
I didn’t expect the relationship between Rain and Ember. Some might find it predictable, but I appreciate how the author handled it. She delved deeply into mental health and its struggles, doing so with respect and understanding. It felt authentic and insightful.
The romance in this book was different from the first. It had a solid foundation built on trust, and understanding. I loved seeing how they supported each other and rebuilt their bond after almost a year apart. The spice in this book was on another level! I enjoyed the playful interactions and Rain’s dirty talk and desires.
I love Santiago, Ember’s bodyguard. I love how he protected her and was there for her when she needed someone by her side. He was an amazing support to her, and their relationship was so sweet.
Ember was incredibly strong and resilient, while Rain was a protective, sensitive, and down-to-earth man whose mission was to take care of her. They were perfect together. Overall, this duet is complex, but if you’re not sensitive to triggers, I highly recommend it. It might break your heart, but you’ll understand.
Thanks to The Author Agency and Vee Taylor for the advance copy.

📚📚📚 THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING!!! First I’ll start with this is book two and you definitely need to read book one first! Book one I binged right before I got this arc and it absolutely dostroyed my heart. This one heals it but also why still being so painful! I definitely hurt so hard while reading with Ember and Rain but wow I do love them! Ember literally is dealing with so much and the people around her are seriously making it worse. Yet somehow Ember pushes through and starts to actually stick up for herself. When she punched that girl I was cheering!! RAIN!! RAIN IS EVERYTHING! This man truly pulls himself through so much to be the man he had to be for everyone especially the girl he fell in love with. He truly stole my heart in this one! Rain shows his emotions and it’s truly beautiful! Santiago is such an amazing side character! He was just so sweet and gentle with protecting Ember and caring for her. I could use a book on him 😍 Any book you write Vee I become utterly obsessed with! I highly recommend reading these books!

Thank you so much for sending me a copy for an honest review in my own words.
I am at a loss for words on just how perfect this book was from start to finish. It picks up immediately after the ending of into the darkness. I went into this book knowing that it was going to be a tough read full of grief and hoping that by the end of it rain and ember would be able to pick up the shattered pieces of each other.
I was a mess from practically page one and throughout this book I found myself having to pause here and there as the grief that the characters experienced felt all too real. While I may have been one of the people who hoped that things would end up differently. I am here to say that this book couldn’t have ended more perfectly.
while the characters in this book may not be real, and the storyline fiction, the feeling that these words invoke were all too real. Vee taylor has created a world in which grief and darkness could coexist with love and light. A world in which even the most horrifying of experiences can be turned around and something good can come from them.
Please, please please take a moment to read the trigger warnings at the beginning of this book and ask ourselves if you are in the mental headspace to be able to handle the topics discussed in this novel. It’s not light. It’s not fluffy. It’s dark and at times it feels as if there is no end to the blackness. But just when all feels lost a light shines through the darkness and all is as it was meant to be.
~Into The Light~University Of Isles Book 2~Vee Taylor~
~Duet Narration~Paige Reisenfeld & Oscar Reyes~
“I’ve learned that fear is only as powerful as you allow it to be. It’s a choice. It’s okay to love and be loved in return. And that’s the life I want, a life where love and happiness conquer fear. A life where my heart stayed open, overflowing with love, enabling me to cherish a tale blessed by two of the deepest loves I’ve ever experienced."
♡Vee did a phenomenal job bringing the heavy topics in this book to life. So many people struggle the way the characters in this book struggle & Vee showed that even in the darkness you can still find the light.
The duet narration for this book was phenomenal. Paige & Oscar are new to me narrators & I think they were the perfect pair to bring this emotional story to life. I really loved how Oscar truly brought two different MMCs to life in different ways with his performance!
This emotional roller-coaster of a book will pull at all of your heart strings, rip it out & then tape it back together. Please remember this book goes over very heavy topics and your mental health matters so please proceed with caution before reading this book♡
I loved this book so much, and loved this series so much. I also love Vee Taylor as an author. I wish I had longer to adjust to the couple being a couple. I think thats what really held me back in this book. I wasnt fully ready to move on. I was still grieving! Maybe another 100 pages, and I wouldve. Or maybe not. Who know. Either way, the writing was phenomenal. The characters are amazing. I was just not ready to let go. This one had me crying (no surprise). I will recommend this series to people who need their hearts broken lol. It is worth it, but it.hurts.so.much!
This emotional Contemporary Romance is book 2 in the University of Isles duet. The romance in this book is hesitant, and heart wrenching as the love interests deal with the loss of a loved one. The book does have spice. The books spicy scenes are descriptive. The book moves at a steady pace following Ember as she moves back to the Isles, and is confronted with the reality of her loss by the hateful whispers of the locals. Rain does his best to protect her, all while keeping his uncle at bay. As Ember, and Rain become partners on a school project they lean on each other through the pain. Feelings they thought didn’t exist make themselves known complicating matters further. This book is full of mystery, spice, romance, and heart ache. This is a book you wont ever want to be over.
The only other books that have ever made me feel the way I felt reading Into The Light were Exodus and The Finish Line.
IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW.
I am not a crier when it comes to books BUT this book made me sob like a lil baby. It’s very hard to come to terms with what happened in Into The Darkness and I think that I was literally in a fever dream the whole time I read this book. It was SO GOOD and the mental health representation was EVERYTHING ………. BUT ……….
One word ….. ASH.
It was so hard to read this knowing he wasn’t coming back. I felt my heart break into a million pieces and I will forever miss him (I know he is fictional, don’t judge me). I could just feel his absence the entire time I was reading this book… he was just… everything. I almost can’t accept that he is gone. STILL.
I do think that the relationship between rain and emerly was perfectly done. It healed parts of me that broke with the loss of ash and while it never completely fixed it the HEA did help me breathe again.
Will I ever heal fully from the loss of ash? No. Do I love rain and emerly? Hell yeah.
This book is bittersweet. Make sure you have a box of tissue ready to go.

This was a hard story to read because I already knew what happened in the first book. If you haven’t read the first book Into the darkness you need too because Into the light won’t make sense. Ember had a lot to deal with in this book and I cannot fathom everything she went through. She overcame so many battles and came out a resilient woman on the other end. Vee does a great job at giving you all the details and hitting all those emotions. This book covers how important mental health is and to really make sure you’re checking on your people. Whether you think you know they’re okay still keep in touch with them. Our new MMC was also dealing with his struggles but still trying to be there for Ember. I was so excited for this book and I tried not to see reviews because I didn’t want any spoilers but I could already tell by what I saw.
I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did. Let me know what you think of it.
This duet is so emotional and it will stick with me but it was nothing short of amazing! I went into it after reading book one and I was expecting it to go one way, however, the story was not what I expected! But I still loved it nonetheless!
You have to read book one before you begin this one but beware it ends on a cliffhanger so you will want to start book two immediately! Don’t forget to bring the tissues!
This book had me ugly crying numerous times and it really gets you in the feels! I have read numerous books by Vee Taylor and she never fails to bring those emotions to each book she writes! Both main characters were very vulnerable and had to face hardships with each other.
I also felt that this story had a bit of mystery as a few secrets were still hidden! I could not stop reading and the story came together in the end perfectly for me! Vee is definitely an auto buy author for me and i'm so excited to see what she has in store next!

If you read the first book, then you can understand why I was in denial for the first 30% of the book. I literally didn’t want to accept it 😭 It honestly hurt so much! BUT I gotta say that reading about the grief that Ember was experiencing and how she overcame it was truly amazing. Thank you for the tissues Vee 🤧 I needed them.
Rain 😍 Dare I say I liked him better than Ash? 🫢 I absolutely loved the dynamic between Rain and Ember. They mended each others wounds and healed together beautifully ❤️🩹
This book/ and series is everything and more to me! It touched the deepest darkest corners of my soul! It is healing and needed for so many people! Vee is an amazing writer who isn’t afraid to touch on the hard topics so many people steer away from but that are important and need to be discussed! I could talk about this series and this exact book for hours on end! There isn’t a day that will go by that my mind will not think back to this book! Everyone must read it!!! She out did herself with this book!
