I always enjoy a Royal Protector story. This one was intriguing. Natalia wasn't someone who stuck out to me. She was strong willed and a great body guard but I barely knew her. Cooper was a complete unknown.
Ryan Cooper is a marine and until the beginning of this story he was Natalia's CO in Iraq. But once her duty with them ended it was time to test the waters on their feelings. Honestly? I liked these two but I didn't quite feel all the hard emotions I love. Cooper was healing physically and mentally and Natalia was suffering from her own personal PTSD. She didn't know how to deal with a relationship so these two spent a lot of time trying to figure things out.
I enjoyed getting to know these two and watching them grow. They were great together once they figured things out. Not my favorite Royal Protector couple but still a great couple non the less.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review*
4.25stars-COOPER is the fourth instalment in Kat Mizera’s contemporary, adult ROYAL PROTECTORS erotic, romantic suspense series. This is US Army Captain Ryan Cooper, and former Limaj Marine and Royal Protector Natalia Farkas’ story line. COOPER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Natalia was first introduced in book two Zander.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Ryan and Natalia) COOPER follows in the wake of the rescue of Ryan Cooper. Captain Ryan Cooper was Natalia Farkas’ commander while serving in the Middle East but a barely veiled attraction struggles with Natalia’s leave to go work with the Royal family in Limaj, her home country of origin. Natalie continues to struggle with PTSD, and when news of Ryan Cooper’s capture reaches home Natalie battles between head and heart believing she has lost again. A US Navy SEAL rescue, and inevitable recovery for Ryan in Germany forces Ryan to reconsider his future when Natalia offers her help and support, and a possible future with the Limaj Royal Protectors. Weeks of recovery and rehabilitation in Limaj brings our couple closer together but when the Royal family is target, not all is as it appears to be.
The world building follows several pathways including the rehabilitation of Captain Ryan Cooper, and his growing love for our story line heroine. Several attacks against the Royal family, and the capture of prisoners, forces Ryan to reconsider the future going forward when he begins to suspect the target of the attack is someone else.
The relationship between Ryan and Natalia begins in the Middle East when Natalia is assigned under Captain Ryan Cooper’s command. A brief one-night stand ends with Natalia deployed home as a future member of the Limaj Royal Protectors, but Natalia never forgot about the man she left behind. Working together in Limaj, Natalia finds herself falling for a man who has yet to determine his path towards the future. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including Prince Sandor and Lennox, Princess Elen and Zander; King Erik and Queen Casey.
COOPER is a story of power and control, vengeance and war, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is passionate; the characters are determined and energetic.
Coming to the end of her deployment with the US Marines and one of the final steps in her training to become a Royal Protector to the Royal family of Limaj, Natalia acts on her attraction to her commanding officer, Ryan Cooper. Cooper has fought his attraction to Natalia from the moment he laid eyes on her. After spending an incredible night together, Cooper and Natalia plan to keep in touch with Cooper planning to visit Natalia in Limaj. When Natalia doesn't hear from Cooper, she thinks Cooper has ghosted her but reaches out to a mutual friend when she realizes deep down Cooper wouldn't do that to her. Natalia is told that Cooper has been taken prisoner. Cooper and 2 other men under his command are taken prisoner. Cooper is repeatedly tortured and questioned. Cooper is worried about how much longer he and the others can hold out before they are killed. Only thoughts of the night with Natalia keep Cooper from giving up. When Cooper and his men are rescued, Natalia is given persmission to go to Germany to see him. After Natalia's visit is cut short due to an attack on the Royal Palace in Limaj, Cooper goes to Limaj to recuperate from his injuries and trauma. When Cooper finds himself at a crossroads in his life, will he choose Natalia and the Royal Protectors, or will he go back to the US Military? Will Natalia walk away from the Royal Protectors, or will she realize she is stronger than she thinks and has what it takes to be a Royal Protector? Will Cooper realize the danger that follows him and Natalia to Limaj has to do with him and not the King? Will Natalia forgive Cooper for leaving without a word to protect her and the Royal family? Can Cooper and Natalia make a future together and as Royal Protectors? I loved Cooper by Kat Mizera! Cooper and Natalia are a fantastic couple who have amazing chemistry. I love how the Royal Protectors are a huge family who have each other's back. I would highly recommend getting Cooper and the other books in the Royal Protectors series by Kat Mizera. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Kat Mizera's Royal Protectors series has been a must read for me, and COOPER, the latest addition, was just as emotional, intense, and suspenseful as the previous books.
Ryan Cooper and Natalia Farkas met when she was sent to Iraq for special training prior to becoming a Royal Protector in Limaj. He was her Captain, and while they had an instant connection nothing happened until Natalia's last night. After returning home to Limaj Natalia remains in touch with Ryan, until he suddenly disappears. While on duty Ryan is taken and badly injured, he decides that he wants to spend his recovery time in Limaj, he needs to be with Natalia to see if there is any chance of a future together, and to decide on his own future.
I thoroughly enjoyed Ryan and Natalia's story. Both have a lot of emotions to work through, decisions to make about their future paths, and about their relationship. Their chemistry was electric, their heat sizzled, however it was only as their layers were peeled back and their walls crumbled did, they open themselves to love. Life isn't meant to be easy, and for Ryan and Natalias life was certainly complicated. Outside influences and non-stop danger were never far, both affecting the decisions Ryan and Natalia made. I found myself cheering them on, hoping that they could get past all the adversity and find their Happy ending.
COOPER was another brilliant read from Kat Mizera. There was non-stop action and drama throughout. I enjoyed seeing the array of familiar faces and some new ones too. Next up is Daniil's story and I can't wait.
Having been shot protecting one of the princesses of Limaj and having also lost her friend and lover in an attack, Natalia never expected to make a connection while deployed to Iraq as part of her Royal Protector training.
Ryan Cooper is at a crossroads. He wasn't expecting to connect with Natalia the way he did, and now circumstances are giving them time together to see if they can make a relationship work. But, Cooper has decisions about his career to make that will change everything.
This book was action packed and fast paced led by the uncertainties of its main characters. IIs it too soon to commit to a relationship? Can Natalia work through her trauma and ptsd to commit fully to the Royal Protectors? Who is attacking the palace and who is the real target? Can Cooper commit to a country that isn't his own? All these questions will be answered, and it’s a real whirlwind!
I adored seeing Natalia challenge the old beliefs of Limaj regarding a woman's place to follow her dreams. She really is a badass, yet also vulnerable. And her confused feelings are something readers can really connect with. Cooper is sweet and sexy, but struggles with which path his future should take?
I loved seeing everyone at the palace. This book really has it all! Lots of action, some poor communication between Natalia and Cooper, more action, so much tension, twists and turns, a bit of torture, a few laughs, lots of romance and a goat! 4.5 stars!
This is only my second Royal Protectors book for me but I need to go back and catch up! Natalia is just getting done with her deployment with the US military that is one of the final steps in her training to become a Royal Protector. Throughout her deployment, she has become great friends with her commanding officer, Ryan Cooper, and decides to act in her attraction to Cooper during her last night. Sparks are flying immediately and they both know this is something to cherish and grow so they make plans for the future. This definitely had a lot more suspense than I was expecting as Ryan is captured and tortured while Natalia is back in Limaj. Once released, he goes right to Nat and quickly sees the allure of the Royal Protectors. While living with Natalia and recovering from the trauma, he dabbles a little with the Protectors while making a decision on his next step, stay in the US military away from Natalia or take the oath of the Protectors and stay with the woman he has fallen in love with. And here it comes…suddenly there are men following Nat and Cooper and he quickly realizes it’s not King Erik they are after, but him. Wow, what a great ending to history and these two came together in the best way. It wasn’t easy but with the support of friends and royalty and surprisingly, Nat’s family, they get the HEA they deserve and we want!!
Okay I need to read the previous books in this series now! This was actually a 4.5 star read for me as I really enjoyed it and was thoroughly gripped by the story throughout. There was a handy run down on the timeline/reading order at the start which gave enough background for it to work as a standalone. So if you're new like me, it's fine to dive right in here if you want to.
The story flowed really well and all the characters were interesting, both the main couple and the side characters who obviously are the focus of other books in the series. There was also lots going on throughout the book to keep things interesting and engaging.
Natalia had a lot to deal with thanks to her backstory, as did Ryan too, so there was a bit of back and forth and going over things. But it's not like the issues were things that could be easily resolved with one conversation so a little bit of repetition definitely makes sense.
This might actually be my favourite book by the author and I don't usually read bodyguard stories! I've been following Kat for the hockey romance which is my favourite overall so I'm a little bit surprised here. In a good way tho of course! Another well written story that was worth diving into.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more in the Royal Protector series. Cooper and Natalia were in the Marines together; he was her superior so they kept it to friends only until she was set to go back to Limaj. Once she gets back, she thinks he ghosts her because he stops communicating. Unfortunately, that isn’t what happened. Instead he was captured and tortured. While recovering he goes to Limaj to see if there can be more between them and to recover.
I enjoyed having a female character be strong and a bodyguard to the royal family. I also liked how realistic the decisions and conversations they had to make/have were. He needed to decide if he wanted to remain in the service and she needed to decide if she really wanted the life she chose for herself. On top of that, there are still threats to the royal family and they are navigating a potential relationship while he is recuperating.
There is a lot of action, mystery and self-discovery in this book. I only gave it four stars because I felt there was a lot of repetition in some situations. I really enjoy this series and Cooper was almost perfect but he had issues. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
I got sucked in from the first few pages. I really love the “Royal Protectors” series, I was eagerly awaiting this release and I am even more excited for the next one.
This book is a great combination of action, suspense, romance, spice and wonderful friendships, and some passages really cracked me up (the moonshine and the goat bits had me laughing out loud… if you know you know).
Natalia is such a badass soldier but she is also warm and sweet. She’s struggling a bit to recover from recent loss and PTSD, but she’s a fighter that does not just give up. As a side note, I enjoyed her relationship with queen Casey, it kind of reminded me of me and some of my friends.
Cooper (Ryan) is a strong, confident marine but he is also supportive, gentle and loving. He really knows how to treat and support a strong woman like Natalia.
At the end of Natalia’s six month deployment for training they take a chance give in to the attraction between them. Together they need to navigate a lot of life complications, career choices, family challenges and the dangers of Royal Protector life. Their love gets tested but it proves to be strong.
As usual, Kat’s writing has it all and “Cooper” was the best way to wrap up 2024.
Captain Ryan Cooper and Natalia Farkas are stationed in Iraq together. He is her commanding officer while she is doing additional training to become a Royal Protector for the Limaji royal family. Once her deployment officially ends, Natalia decides that she is going to make a move to see if the attraction she feels towards Ryan is reciprocated. Shortly after, Ryan is captured and tortured and after his release, he moves to Limaj to be with Natalia during his recuperation to see if they have a future together. Both Ryan and Natalia have their demons to deal with and both have to give serious consideration to their futures. Will Ryan give up his whole life for Natalia, and could her heart survive any more heartbreak? The life of a royal protector is never an easy one, and both Ryan and Natalia have many obstacles to overcome if this life is something they both want.
This is the fourth book in the Royal Protector series and is just as good as all the others. I love how the characters grow and develop into their lives and with a strong storyline, this is definitely worth reading.
Natalia was sent to Iraq as part of a military exchange program with the United States Marines to get special training for her job as a Royal Protector. She will become an elite bodyguard to the royal family and the money she makes she will be able to help her parents out. While in Iraq she was under the command of Captain Ryan Cooper. They shared a connection but didn't act on it until she had been relieved of her duties since she was going home.
Ryan Cooper was finishing up his tour in Iraq and had made plans to go see Natalia in Limaji when he got back to the states but things took a turn before he left. Now he is on leave still recovering from his injuries and plans to see Natalia and recover there. Things are going ok until they aren't. There is danger but who is it directed at and why? And will they survive?
4.5 stars I am really enjoying the Royal Protector series. This was an emotional journey for both Natalia and Ryan. It was trusting each other, their love and figuring out what they wanted and getting through the PTSD.
4.5/5⭐️ As a Royal Protector, Natalia is assigned to Ryan Cooper’s US Marine team as part of her training. During the six months of assignment, they become friends and attraction lingers between them. When her assignment finally ends, she decides to f*ck it and that marks the start of their relationship.
Due to their respective jobs, distance is a big issue. When an incident leads Ryan to recuperate in Limaj with her and the Royal Protector family, Ryan gets a chance to experience what life is like for Natalia there. But uncertainty abounds, will Ryan stay on or will he return to the U.S. Marines?
The novel is fast-paced as it is interspersed with many action scenes. I enjoyed seeing both Ryan and Natalia in action as they are true experts at what they do.
The Protector family is one big family which I wouldn’t mind being a part of. They always have each other’s back regardless of the circumstances. On another note, the cultural differences between both Ryan and Natalia also made for some interesting scenes!
Natalia and Ryan (Cooper) met while she was trying under him as part of her training to become an elite Royal Protector for her king. The spark was there all along but nothing happened right as she was about to leave for her home country. They agreed to see where this new found relationship would go, but with job like theirs is hard and when Ryan is injured in one of his missions, he sees this as his shot to spent more time with her while he recovers.
But nothing is easy for our MCs. Despite being together, danger still lurks at every turn and they'll have to find the strength and love to make sure that they're IT for each other.
I always love seeing women being bad-ass and powerful. I loved Natalia from the get go. She has some issues to work through but seeing her over come them was such a beautiful thing. And having Ryan to encourage her was the ice on the cake.

This one was interesting. While a good portion of it took place at Limaj, the drama of what was happening there wasn't the biggest issue. It was more seeing if Ryan and Natalia could be a couple and if so what does that mean for Ryan and Natalia is set in her career with a life time commitment.
The easiest thing would be Ryan becomes a Protector too, but that was a big step and would require huge life changes for him. So Ryan seeing what things meant while healing made sense. He got to see the good and the bad, even seeing what Natalia's family was going through was needed. It was a different side of the country that what he had been seeing at the palace.
The drama with people coming to the castle and the threats was so crazy! Mostly due to the who and why. Glad that that got taken care of in a good way. It helped lead to a very happy ending and new beginnings for this couple.

I loved Natalia and Cooper! Cooper and Natalia met while serving in the Marines. She is on her way to becoming a Royal Protector in her home country of Limaj and serving in the marines is a part of her training. Cooper is her commanding officer so they fight their attraction. They share a night together before she leaves planning to keep in touch after she returns home. However, after she fails to hear from him she assumes that has changed on his part. Instead there is a reason that he doesn't contact her. Anyway after reconnecting, he decides to recover in Limaj to spend time with her.
Natalia is a strong character and Cooper is a man at a crossroads. I loved watching their relationship develop. I loved that there was really not any other woman or man drama associated with their relationship. I loved seeing glimpses of the others we have met in the Royal Protectors world and look forward to more.
This is the fourth book in this impressive series, and this is Ryan Cooper and Natalia’s story. Cooper is a captain in the US Army, and is a loyal soldier, while Natalia is brave and fierce, and she is sent to Iraq, under Cooper’s command, for special training to become a Royal Protector, and they ignore the connection between them until she is leaving to return home to Limaj. Cooper is injured and goes to see Natalia to recuperate, but danger seems to be following them. This is a well written story which is fast paced, easy to read, and action packed, with family, friendships, emotions, loyalty, danger, suspense, intrigue, vengeance, trust, PTSD, engaging and realistic characters, and love, which leads to an entertaining, spicy, and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Natalia Farkas never expected to meet someone like Captain Ryan Cooper while she was on an exchange program between Limaj and US Marines. Now Natalia needed to make a decision about their connection because Ryan had been her commander but she was returning to Limaj while she finished her training to be a Royal Protector for the Limaj royal family. But Ryan had been injured while on duty and decided to visit Natalia while he recovered but now they needed to make some choices about their future but there was something targeting either Ryan or the Royal Family of Limaj.
You will want to read Cooper if like your romance with a little bit of suspense with the Limaj Royal Protectors with Ryan and Natalia!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and 1852 Media. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Cooper is book four in the Royal Protectors Series and if you love fast paced romantic suspense look no further than Ryan Cooper and Natalia’s emotional journey. Cooper is a loyal soldier who helps train Natalia to become a Royal Protector and from the moment they meet they feel a connection but it wasn’t their time and they chose to ignore their feelings. Natalia has returned home to Limaj but when Cooper is injured he decides to go and visit her while he recovers. Problem is danger has followed him ……..so can Cooper keep himself and Natalia safe, one click to find out. This is a well written story with wonderful characters, it’s a great addition to the series, it’s a journey about friendships, love, loyalty, intrigue and it’s a page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I loved everything about this entertaining, steamy and emotional read and I highly recommend it to all romantic suspense lovers.
We have met Natalia in previous stories, she is heartbroken due to the loss of Logan a fellow Protector and her boyfriend at the time. She has been deployed with an American Marine unit when she forges a strong connection with Captain Ryan Cooper. Once they act on their attraction they are separated. Ryan is taken and brutalized, once rescued he goes to Limaj to see if he and Natalia can forge a relationship. Their chemistry is off the charts and both are at ease with each other. As they navigate the emotions and stressors of the job that Natalia has and Ryan is considering, complicated force are at work. You can’t help but root for these two to make the decision to both be Protectors and find each other. This story has it all, action, heat, familiar friends and unexpected outcomes.
Part of Natalia’s training as a Royal Protector included serving with the Marines for six months . She has been trying to deny her feelings for Ryan, her commanding officer, and it is only when her time comes to an end that they act on them. She returns to Limaji to serve the royal family however when she learns that has been injured, she needs to see him.
Ryan has devoted his life to serving his country, but Natalia has him questioning his future. After being rescued he finds himself staying at the palace while he heals but not only do they find themselves trying to find out what they mean to each other but that the danger is far from over.
Ryan and Natalia’s journey isn’t only about healing physically but emotionally as well as they have both been through traumatic circumstances but with the help of friends and family they find their way back to each other.
Another fantastic addition to the Royal Protector series and this series keeps getting better and better with every novel. I was not certain what to expect when I first started Cooper however, this book will blow you away. The main characters, Ryan and Natalia, are fantastic. They are raw, they are real, and they take you on the journey of the evolution of their relationship – their insecurities, their uncertainty and especially their passion. The Royal Protectors novels always have interesting, unique and suspenseful storylines, and this one does not disappoint – it is mind blowing. The twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat. Also, I love the way Kat incorporates all the other characters into the storyline with relevance and enhancing the story. An absolute page-turner that is hard to put down and should not be missed.
Cooper and Natalia are a fabulous couple. Their attraction to each other is so strong, and they both possess a sense of duty and of commitment to their roles, the people they protect, and their mission in life. Meeting Cooper while on deployment in Iraq as a part of her ongoing Royal Protecor training, they form a bond of friendship and trust, which creates a solid foundation for an ongoing relationship. They face trials, recovery from injury, ongoing repercussions from previous events, and many other stresses and dangers as they move forward in Natalia's native Limaj. It is a story which contains adventure, soul searching, growing love, humour, family and friendship. It is quite a slow burn in the sense that both MCs have a lot to consider in their decision making, but it is a rewarding read for its consideration of these processes. A good read, but I have one, burning question...what happened to the goat? 🐐😅💖💖💖💖
So good! I have read other novels in this series and really enjoyed them. This novel did not disappoint. I was excited to jump back into this series and this novel did not let me down. From the first chapter this novel reached out and grabbed ahold of my attention and held on tight for the entire novel. I loved Ryan and Natalia's story. Both had been thru so much and were working thru what they experienced in the military. Their chemistry was so good. I loved watching them both lower their walls and defenses and fall in love. Once I started reading this novel I didn't want to put it down. It kept me guessing what was coming next. I can hardly wait to see what this author is writing next.
Cooper is a fantastic read. I loved this one so much. I could not get enough of Natalia and Ryan (Cooper). I love their dynamics. The chemistry is amazing. Both are facing past trauma and help each other heal. Danger is constant but nothing Natalia and Cooper can't handle. Natalia is part of the Royal protectors and in charge of the queen. Cooper is a marine and at a crossroads after being held captive. You feel the love grow between Natalia and Cooper. You feel the pull Cooper has to Natalia's Royal protectors world. Cooper and Natalia are fantastic together. I could not get enough of Natalia and Cooper. I love the Royal Protectors series so much. I cannot wait for more. Go one click this now.
I’m a huge fan of Kat Mizera, but I’ve only read a couple of her books associated with Limaj or the Royal Protectors. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Cooper and Natalia, and reconnecting the few characters I was familiar with in the story.
The development of their relationship was slow despite their physical connection which allowed me to learn about both of them as their bond grew. Definitely has an emotional component due to all the events in each of their pasts, but they work through them with a therapist and talk about what they are dealing with.
I loved the found family feeling within the Royal Protectors and how they are considered family by King Erik and Queen Casey.
I received a free ARC from the author and 1852 Media; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
While the title is about the main male character in this book, there is no question that the female character has her own story that is told. In true Kat Mizera format. This is next in the series of the Royal Protectors. You do not need to have read the other books in the series, but after reading this one you will want to. This book has suspense, love, action, and so much more all rolled into one. Make sure you do have time to read from start to finish in one sitting because you will not want to put it down because Natalie Farkas and Ryan Cooper capture your attention from the start and don’t let it go until you’ve read the last page. I could say more but then that would reveal to much of the story.
Thanks to 1852 Media and Kat Mizera for an ARC for my honest opinion.
5 Star Review Cooper (Royal Protectors #4) by Kat Mizera
This was an entertaining romantic suspense story that ticked all the boxes for me. Well written, the storyline was great and you cannot help but become invested in the story that Ms. Mizera wove.
From the first chapter I was hooked on the story that was told. There were equal amounts of romance and suspense which was entertaining.
The characters were easy to relate to and I really liked them. The chemistry between them was intense and I found myself swooning on a number of occasions with the witty banter and humour.
The secondary characters were just as entertaining snd it was great to see some familiar faces.
Natalia and Ryan (Cooper) were a great couple to watch grow individually and together. They served as soldiers together in Iraq. Each have so much past trauma to overcome that at first it takes them a while to be able to deal with their feelings for one another. Natalia is part of the Royal Protectors and it is because of her Cooper starts to see what they are and how he can be part of them. It is amazing watching them over come everything to find themselves and their relationship. As always the book can be read as a stand alone but I feel is better if you read it in order. The other characters add so much to the story.
Cooper, book four in the Royal Protectors series is a romantic suspense story that is going to take you on a journey with Captain Ryan Cooper and Natalia Farkas at the forefront. These two have been fellow soldiers, seen quite a bit of danger, enjoyed many friendships and have experienced love, but the life they have both chosen has many challenges and can be difficult at times. Now, they both find themselves faced with heavy, important decisions that will shape their future, but their biggest decision and question is whether they will choose each other no matter what life throws at them.
