The crown weighs heavy on my head, and the Castle University’s ivy-clad walls have become a gilded cage. As the dust settles from betrayal and bloodshed, I stand amidst the wreckage, not just as a mafia heiress, but as the Queen in a game where hearts are for the taking and every move could be a deadly trap.
The men I've let into my heart are the pillars of my reign. My strength. My weakness.
In a world where loyalty is measured in blood, we stand united, because when the swords are drawn and alliances shatter, it's not just my love I'll fight for—it's their lives, and the future of an empire built on a legacy of our pasts.
The gambit is set, the players ready, and I must make my move. In this war of intrigue and danger, it's not just about winning—it's about surviving.
This is a dark academia reverse harem with plenty of TWs. This takes place in an entirely fictional world set in the UK. This is the second book of three in the Royals of Castle.
Eve is a USA Today Bestselling Author with a specialty for steamy romance with strong female leads.
She lives in the UK, with her husband and five kids, so finding the time to write is short, but definitely sweet. Eve has a number of series, both completed and on the go and hopes to release some new and exciting projects, both paranormal and contemporary in the future, so stay tuned!
W-O-W and speechless! Let me say this first, check the trigger warnings and take them seriously. This book is beautifully dark. The second installment of this book didn’t disappoint and is exactly what we can expect from Eve. Eliza continues to the strong female character and true north of her men as they fight for survival, peace and love. This book will not disappoint you, but please take her warning seriously. Book 3 can’t come fast enough!
I don’t think I could love a FMC more, but here we go! I love a great strong heroine!! This second book set in this world is just as amazing as the first! The dark, romantic, strong story mixed with so many twists and turns I’m dizzy! I can’t wait until the final installment!
What an amazing second instalment. The Queen is punchy, pacy and laced with the darkness we’ve come to know and love. Eliza continually battles for power. She knows what she wants and she knows the game she has to play to survive. However, when she’s faced with the threats that continue to overthrow all she knows dear, can she hold steady in this game to ensure that she wins? Or will her strengths become her weaknesses that dethrone her?
Wow! That’s all I can say. What a plot! This book was as intense and dark as its previous instalment but oh so deliciously dark that I was captivated from beginning to end. I adored how immersed I was in this storyline, weaving my mind around the darkness and playing the game right alongside those strong, brooding and badass characters that we’ve come to know and love. Twisted, dark, delicious, immersive and tantalising; this was a reading journey that will take me a while to recover from. From the very first page I was hooked and absolutely desperate to read on. I was left on the edge of a precipice as my soul turned blacker and blacker with no regret. Again, triggers warnings are a must read. This wasn’t lighthearted, there’s some seriously dark stuff. As before, Eve has ensured a list of these are available and where to find them. This is not a book that you can delve into ignorant of the content. These need to be read.
I actually adore Eliza. Moreso in this instalment, her tenacity and absolute strength shone through. She remained true to herself and her stance of life whilst maintaining a vulnerability that allows us to connect with her. Let’s not forget about the most delicious men who, once again, were everything: delicious, dark, tantalising and downright lethal. Lucky Eliza!
This was an incredible second instalment and I genuinely am excited to read the next!
Oh the story is getting better and better ! Book one told how Eliza became the queen with her kings and this one is where everything starts to get juicy !
Still lots of spice with her kings who cannot get enough of her and will bend to every demand she needs but the Kings have their own stories and we learn more about the four of them and the families they have grew up in and the jobs they have to do. Eliza is a powerful force within the Castle however someone is after her and won’t stop till they have her and de throne her. We learn who that is and what lengths they will go to and what lengths Eliza will go to prove her place and power within this life.
The ending ! Ahh what a cliffhanger the masked man the betrayal the traps oh book 3 is being started now I need to know why !
This is an addicting series for anyone who loves mafia, dark beautiful men who have that golden retriever thing about them but who are big strong killers in their own right. Well worth the read !
What can I tell you about The Queen without giving any spoilers? Hmm it carries on from the previous book, The Kings and it keeps on running. As you know we were left on a cliff as we waited to see the aftermath of the wreckage at Castle University and we don't stop for a second, neither do the characters. They grow and build their alliances, find out who some of their enemies are and prepare to be the mafia family they have become. There's more darkness, more mafia and more heart stopping moments.....including a cliff hanger to beat all others. Eve Newton is a queen who wraps her stories around you until you don't know which way is up and even your own name at times. This has so many warnings that need to be needed. Do not expect sunshine and sparkles - it's based in the UK so no sunshine and it's dark Mafia so no sparkles - unless you count the glint of steel. I cannot tell you amazing I found this book, I thought I loved the characters in The Kings - oh my unbeating heart is going like a freight train with this one. A must read for lovers of the dark Mafia Rh family. When you can feel the sticky stuff on your hands and smell the copper in the air, you know the book is that good!
Ok, First thing I need to tell you is go get you a big plate of cookies, brownies, something sweet and a cup of whatever you like for hydration, because once you start to read this book you will not stop until you are done. This book shows Eliza as the Queen that she is, Her strength and just down right stubbornness shows so much in this book. I honestly fell in love with her as a FMC in this one.
The plot holy smokes batman, This one picks up right where we were hanging from the cliff in book one, and the intrigue, the twists, I was literally on the edge of my bed and could not stop reading, I HAD to know what happened next.
I will say that triggers warnings are a must read, but they are every easy to find and clear, so as long as they do not trigger you then please please read this one.
The Queen, book two of the Kings of Castle series, by Eve Newton. The Quees is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). The crazy fast-paced, violent plot continued seamlessly from book one, The Kings. The relationship conveniently and quickly fell in to place in book one (fast-burn, for sure), which made the plot fall too easily into place, but the writer maintained stride and I liked this book more than the first. Not sure what is going on with the cover and different author name in the Goodreads listing Broken Empire by SE Traynor, I assume the Newton has a pseudonym and made a title change at some point.
This book picks up without missing a beat, and it just doesn't stop. So many secrets are revealed, and so many are still buried and need answers to. And that ending? Oh boy..... prepare yourself. Our Queen fully accepts all her Kings, and prepare yourself, because just wow. This book is steamy of so steamy. And we get a surprise visit from a certain kitty cat..... Can't wait for the next one
I still feel like there's too much & not enough. There's a bit more character build but still feel they're lacking depth & the story has gotten even more twisty & full of turns. I get it's not gonna be all easy, pretty or just one enemy when it comes to Mafia, but it feels like it's a bit too much. Still it's interesting & I like the characters, the smut is on point & I wanna keep going bc I gotta know how it all turns out! 🖤
AHHHHH we were LEFT just like that. Okay I'm done LOL. The twists and turns keep on coming, and don't forget about the betrayal, DANG. That cuts so much deeper when it's family. I love Eliza so much, after book 1, but now? It's so much more. She's totally owning that crown and will stop at nothing to get rid of any and all thre-ts that are on the horizon. The guys and her also make a great group, from the fun times to the way they interact, it's a great combination. I didn't want to put this book down and now I can't wait for book 3!
This book picks up where The Kings left off. Eliza is settling in with her Kings and realizing the forces working against her reign. You meet other players and see their gameplay. Some are helpful and some are forging their own plays. Again, it ends on a cliffhanger that comes out of the dark. Looking forward to the final chapter.
Definitely an intense read. Has some very dark themes and dark spicy content. Definitely wasn’t expecting the plot twists in this one. The Kings definitely have their own unique style and twists. Kind of makes you question them. The ending was well executed and leaves you at the edge of your seat.
This is book two and just a heads up it ends on a cliffhanger. Every day Eliza must prove she it worthy to be crowned The Queen of Castle University. With her kings; Oliver, James, Raphael, and Tarquin by her side she seems invincible but there are others out there that want to take her down and they are playing to win!!
After family history emerges, betrayal and loyalty shifts, and it's time for Eliza's reign as The Queen of Castle University. Eve puts you into this world and then plays with you just as much as the characters get played in the story. You think you know what is going to happen, and then the air gets kicked out of you when you realize that Eve just played you and twisted you even more into this story, much like the mafia world for the next generation works. Will Eliza have a short or long reign as the Queen? Thank you, Eve, again for this series, and I am patiently...ok, not really patiently, waiting for the final book.
The last book had me wondering who could have caused so much damage to Castle University and let me just say my mind was blown by the revelation provided in this book!
This book gives you more Hughes family history that will have you thinking you know what is going on just to have the rug ripped out from under you. Be prepared for a wild ride in this book with plenty of steam and enough bad a kicking from Eliza and her men that will have you craving more!
Eliza and her kings were trying to find out who was trying to hurt Elize. Many people on the chessboard are unknown and do not know what they want. The enemy can be professors, students, parents, and friends.
Book 2 of The Kings of Castle is an excellent read. Full of action, spice and well written characters. I really enjoy author Eve Newton's books and am looking forward to reading the final book of this series.
The second book is even better than the first! You won’t believe who was behind the attack on campus. The betrayal of family cutting even deeper. The love between Raphael, Tarquin, Oliver,James and Eliza is a dangerous combination that leaves you blown away and wanting more. New alliance form and enemies biding time. The Crown is finally hers but larger threats loom and I can’t wait to see how it plays out next! #darkromance #mafiaromancebooks #whychoosebooks #polyromancereads #reverseharembooks
Yep, still good. I love it that they don't stand in her way and just let her be awesome. I also love that they "remind" her that they are there and she doesn't need to stand alone.
This is the second book in a fantastic series, and I love it! Think this is my favorite series so far by this author. It picks up right where book 1 left it at. We see Eliza growing inher role as queen and claiming it but with that come threats but also unexpected allies. I love how the relationship xbetween her and her knights grow and am in desperate need of book 3. Great series but if you have triggers do check the warnings. Love the darkness!
