Dziewczyna to zakazany owoc.
Książka autorstwa Cathariny Maury Doktor Grant to drugi tom serii Off-Limits.
Catharina Maura is a USA Today and Amazon #1 bestselling author. She writes angsty, fast-paced contemporary romance novels that break your heart before they lead you to a hard-won happily ever after.
Cat lives in Hong Kong with her husband and a dozen houseplants that all have names. When she isn't daydreaming about future characters, she's exploring the world and seeking out new adventures.
Am I surprised at this moment? Amazon recommended this book and since there is no fool like an old fool (me), I fall for the cover... only to realize that it is the same author I DNF-ed a few days ago.
However, given the benefit of the doubt, I ought to give this a try as I do see some of the reviewers saying that Catharina Maura's other works are better. But you know what, curiosity killed the cat and unsatisfaction brought it back.
I'm trying my best but I just couldn't bring myself to favor the writing style. A unique literary style can have a great impact on the piece in which it is used, and on the readers; and having a poor one just lead to its doomness. Incidentally, the moment Dr Grant lose his professionalism for an insta-lust, I know I had to head out. The way I cringe is just beyond words.
I do think Maura had a lot of idea with her works but she needs to hone on executing them, from the premise, dialogues to the writing style because at this point, everyone can write. Just because you do, does not make you good (but of course I have to be the outlier in this matter) 🫠 #FoodforThought
So the first scene we get with the main characters is the h, Amara, going to the H’s, Dr. Noah Grant, office to get a sex toy out… okay hold my popcorn while I watch this unfold 👀🍿.
Noah is a doctor now, and he needs a job. He’s always taken care of his sister and has struggled financially. He gets a job at the University and there are three simple rules: don’t get involved with a patient, don’t get involved with a student, and don’t get involved with the granddaughter of Mr. Astor. But life doesn’t always likes us to follow rules LOL.
Amara is a PhD student that’s trying to get her business running, a business in sex toys. She’s in the engineering program and is doing everything she can to make it on her own, without getting the help of her magnate of a grandfather. Her grandfather wants her to get into the business and cease trying to pursue her dreams of having her own company independently from her his legacy. When she tries out a new prototype vaginal toy that suctions itself tightly inside and prevents it from coming out, she realizes the mistake she made by not printing out a 3-D handle to take it out.
So what does she have to do? Yep, you guessed it; she needs to seek the help of a medical professional; in this case, it’s Dr. Grant.
The first interaction is professional yet somehow still sexy. It’s probably because she keeps getting Os while Noah tries to remove the toy 😅😬. Of course- things happen that continue to put them in each other’s paths- from Amara’s panic attack, to events, to a forced double date- their attraction only gets more and more intense.
Noah is a doctor, which means he HAS to be good with his hands🥵 and his mouth🔥 and his d 😅. I’m not even sure if the first scene is really considered Dr. Kink… they aren’t “playing” a role- because he really IS her doctor and she really IS his patient lol but mannn… it gets steamy. And once he helps her with the first sex toy mishap, he tells her he’ll help her with any others… and those were HOOOOT 🔥🥵😬💦. She asks for his help at his office and he is MORE than willing to help her with trying out her… um… toys 😅💦🥵.
Their connection is carnal, passionate, yet sweet and intimate as well. They try to stay away from each other because being together is interfering with their futures, especially when both her mom and grandfather keep warning them to stay away. But they can’t help themselves and are happiest when they’re together.
Early on in the book, I almost started to predict what their “issues” were going to be. There were a lot of little signs that were making me question some things, and then when I figured out what it was, I knew it was going to be the big stop sign in their relationship. Obviously, there’s an HEA. I wish it had been more drawn out and detailed, but I really enjoyed this book overall.
Now I gotta read book 1 and can’t wait to read book 3. I wish there had been some good ol’ doctor role playing lol but calling him Dr. Grant once in a while was good. Oh and his DIRTY mouth was delicious!
⚠️ safety squad ⚠️ semi spoilers ahead -no cheating/owd -the h is with OM who happens to be her ex at an event (good because it pushes the H to finally kiss the h- he’s already made her O😅) -parents are murdered-the double homicide isn’t detailed but it’s something the H struggles with -when the H and h break up, the h goes back to her ex because of *reasons*, but she never kisses him or does anything with him
I’m sorry but I found this book cringe worthy with the heroine and her sex toys. I liked some of this authors works but her females are a bit too weak for my tastes.
The storyline was so cheesy and unrealistic (and not in a good way). It was actually painful to read at some points. If my grandpa determined who and couldn't date me I'd f*cking riot - But on the other hand, what grandfather would even do that...?
The romance was so over the top and I'm still not sure how I even finished it. This is what I get for watching a random Instagram reel recommending it... Never again.
And the little plot twist at the end... It wasn't obvious, but I still hated it. So unnecessary.
This felt like a telenovela. It wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t good. It’s one of those books that you’ll forget what it was about in a few months (except for first the toy scene). I felt no chemistry and the spice got more and more boring throughout the book. The one positive I can say: he said some cute things and the end was nice.
The only good thing about this book is the spice 💋 Idk everything went too fast… I mean they were both in love page 3 lmao. I don’t really believe in love at first sight.
Everyone telling him to not even be near her : him one second later : make her come on his fingers☝️👅
Another fun romance from Catharina Maura! I love the meet cute in this one and how it was a forbidden romance because the hero was a doctor and worked for the heroine's grandfather. I'm definitely excited to read more from Catharina!!
3.5 stars! Noah recently lost his job and can’t believe his luck when he gets offered his dream position at a school’s clinic. The only rules, don’t sleep with students, don’t sleep with patients, and definitely don’t get involved with his new mentor’s granddaughter. But things get complicated early on when on his first day, Amara (his mentor’s granddaughter) shows up in the clinic needing help removing a prototype sex toy she designed. They feel a connection and keep running into one another until she eventually asks him for help with her toy inventions. 👀
So I actually liked this one a bit more than the first book I read from this author (Until You). The romance and couple in this one definitely fall fast, but I believed their chemistry. Lots of forbidden vibes and sneaking about since her grandfather, who is his mentor, can’t know they’re together. I did think her family (grandfather, mother) were a bit over the top in trying to keep the couple apart, so I wasn’t a fan of the times they’re on the page. The couple from the first book in the series, Until You, make a lot of appearances since that couple is the hero’s sister and his best friend. You know early on into the story that it is building to something to be revealed and I wasn’t really a fan of where the story goes when that is revealed or really how the ending goes. 😅 Otherwise this was a super easy read, very quick to get through, and the narrators (Teddy Hamilton and Maxine Mitchell) were amazing of course!
Ok.....um I really didn't want to say this is but, this one didn't do it for me 😔.
The major problem I faced was Noah's dialogues especially during the intimate parts of the book. So the character glimpse of Noah in Until You, helped form an image of him which did Aline with what I had in mind in this book (mostly), but when it came to the sex scenes....... it just felt like a whole different character/person !
I won't say the sex scenes per say were the problem, but Noah's dialogues during them. You can say it just didn't flow with his character in general, what I had in mind and in that portrait in this book.
Also the jealousy game between Amara and Noah was so childish (In my opinion). Like I would expect this if the setting was in high school or even to an extent between University students. But the fact that they are between 29 (Amara) and mid 30s (Noah) of age, the behaviour seem mildly annoying. I felt disconnected with the characters so many times.
Would I recommend this book to others? Sure ! But is it Catharina Maura finest ? NOO !
As much of a cliche it sound, I'll say this "Its me, not you" 😜
THATS MY NAMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE teheheh, I FELT RLLY AWKWARD READING THIS CONSIDERING THE MFC IS CALLING AMARA AND WELL UMMMM THATS MY NAME AND AMARA WAS BASICALLY A SEX ADDICT (no shaming), but likee, damn girl-im suprised his dick didnt fall off. NOAH WAS SUCH A SWEETHEART. LIVE LAUGH LOVE HIMMMM. AMARA WAS SUCH A VIBE AND RELATABLE CHARACTER LIKEEEEEEEEE, i could see myself in her
“Do you want to talk about it or do you want a hug?” She looks into my eyes, and then she smiles. “A hug, please.” YOUR TELLING ME THATS NOT ADORABLE.
This book went from a hilarious meet cute to freaking messy real quick. I thought it’ll be one of those cute and funny romance books but damn i was WRONG 😅
I have no words. I loved it so much. I will need a couple of days to recover. I was way too emotional when listening to this lol. Teddy Hamilton narrating this book ended me. I literally went through it 😅
Pulling my hair for taking forever to pick up this series. Ughhh this book is probably on my top 3 catharina maura books.
*side note: as someone who works in healthcare i just wanna say that Dr. Grant, after their first interaction would’ve looooooost his license lmaoooo glad this is fictional
I was going to give this a 2/5 because it's C.M. and even though her writing is sometimes not the best she never fails to entertain me and get me out of reading slump. But this was bad, really really bad. It might just be her worst piece of work.
I started this book because I heard about their first encounter and it sounded hot. It was, and their next scenes that were similar were hot too but that’s about it I expected a hot maybe funny romcom but there was a bit of drama and I guessed the plot twist at 10/15% and I did not like that twist
I didn’t like this book. The problems and barriers that the main characters present in order to justify having to stay away from each other are too lame. The motivations of the characters are absurd. I just couldn’t get into this story with such ridiculous arguments.
Okay this is my favorite read this year. Holy FREAKING crap. This book was perfect. It had ALL the feels. Hilarious, hot, heartbreaking, satisfying. It's ALL the things... and the SHOCKING plot twist, holy WOW! I can't get over how amazing this book was. I loved it!
Narrated to perfection by Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton.
*** Listened to this again because I wanted to listen knowing what I know about the plot twist! Now I'm listening to the third one!
⭐️2/5! Firstly, why is she just carrying around sex toys in her bag all the time, then going to Noah (MC) to test them out. I do not understand how she went from being confident -strolling into his office with a toy stuck inside her and saying she’ll repay him by making him a toy or getting on her knees for him- to being so shy she could barely look him in the eye. I enjoyed the first 10% and then it just went downhill so quickly. I don’t understand why this and the first book are so repetitive after the 20% mark till atleast 90%.
Amara (FMC) really annoyed me, she was either blushing or ‘not looking into his eyes’. I felt absolutely no connection between the characters purely only lust, constantly talking about them being friends then having sex a couple seconds later. The plot was very very predictable which was disappointing. Also it was instant love which I’m not a fan of.
Overall it just turned into a generic, predictable, over sexed novel. Too many spicy scenes yet non with no detail at all and the words that left Noahs mouth during it was so cringe I had to put the book down multiple times. Also where was the happy ending? It was all over the place ⚠️SPOILER⚠️ how is she engaged to someone at 95% in that’s not him? He doesn’t seem happy at all with her and she just seems like she prefers his body over him. A bit too many things was happening in the last 20 pages, it went from being good to absolutely boring to so much going on it’s hard to keep up. Am I going to read the third book? Yes and I hope it improves.
🌶1.5/5. About 8 spicy scenes non detailed at all, alwahs the same thing.
Damn Facebook ads making books look so good! And damn books for not being good 🤦🏻♀️
To be totally honest I skimmed most of this. I had to know what the twist was going to be and of course it was the worst one I guessed. Her dad murdered both of his parents and at the end he’s just supposed to be okay hanging out with her dad???? Maybe I missed something cause of the skimming but???? And they fell in love after three meetings. And it’s not like they were some heartfelt moments.

4,5/5⭐️ Wciągająca i przyjemna.
