Lucius Annaeus Seneca (4 BC–65 AD) was a Roman politician, orator and philosopher, born in the city which is now Córdoba, Spain. Today, Seneca is best known for his philosophical works, which are based on the ideas of Stoicism. However, we cannot ignore his important career as a senator and politician in Rome.
This volume includes three of his most famous dialogues about life and happiness: On the Brevity of Life, On the Tranquillity of the Soul and On the Happy Life. These works are written from the spiritual and Stoic perspective that characterises Seneca, and in them he deals with questions that have concerned philosophers from Ancient Greece to the present day, such as why and how we live, how we deal with death, and how we can become happy.
