I love words, but that wasn't always true. I grew up with a talent for numbers, leading me to follow a different path. I went to Annapolis and MIT and became a nuclear physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Only after I retired was my desire to tell stories reawakened.

In recent years, I have immersed myself in the world of words, drawing on my scientific knowledge and personal experience to shape my writing.

As a scientist, I explored physics and technology, which enabled me to create informative and insightful books, sharing my knowledge with readers who sought to expand their understanding in these areas—contributing to their intellectual growth while satisfying my own passion.

But it was my time as a naval officer that ignited my imagination and propelled me into science fiction. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy and serving on nuclear submarines during both hot and cold wars, I witnessed firsthand the complexities and challenges of military operations that seamen face daily.

This allowed me a unique perspective, which I channeled into creating Henry Gallant and a 22nd-century world where a space officer fought against invading aliens. Through this narrative, I explored the depths of human resilience, the mysteries of space, and the intricacies of military conflict.

My stories let me share the highlights of my journey with you. I hope you enjoy the ride. (www.hpeteralesso.com)

I thought this had the most absurd opening, and I almost dropped it immediately. There was some resurrection with brain-download learning, so that made some progress in ameliorating the opening. Still, if you accept the initial premise, it gets better.
Then encounters with the aliens are pretty unbelievable, give how the author sets them up with so many advantages over the humans in technology and science that the humans are trying to understand, stretches belief that the humans could prevail and hang on so long.
But I think the most absurd part is that the main character could fill in for a notorious and famous person, and there's no reaction from the space command that would have immediately known that the person outbound as captain could not be the actual person. Another huge believe-it-or-not situation.
So no, I won't bother with book two, and I rather think this book was a waste of my mind and time.

a quick read

This is almost a summary of a story. If you like short chapters, or skipping complicated battle descriptions, this is your book. (As an editor, lots of skipped words, wrong words and spelling errors. Just keep reading, don’t let them stop you.) The hero tries to do the right thing. He at least reads everything he can to train himself for the role he pretends to have. I will read book 2.

Hide and Seak

Here the author has created a character That is a mistake. He finds himself in the depths of Hiding his true identity. But even though he is a lie, He proves he has greatness in him. Thank you Arthur for creating a series of events That keeps us enthralled and watches this Character grow to the greatness He deserves

Interesting story

I really enjoyed the premise of this book and I think the author did a great job building the story and the characters. The writing itself could use some work. Shifts in narration and general spelling/grammar errors made it slightly difficult to follow in some areas. Overall, a good, quick read.

Intriguing

This is my first book by this author and I found it intriguing and full of interesting characters. The action is constant and gripping. Looking forward to seeing where it goes next in book 2.

Flawed

Very unrealistic, the core deception is ridiculously fragile yet is not seriously challenged. All it would take is one communication during the month's long mission for it to fall apart.

Interesting, quick read

Good story, lots of action. Moves along quickly, just long enough to be a novelette. The last few chapters need editing, lots of changes from first person to third person perspective within a sentence.

Nice story, difficult grammar

I enjoyed the story and would have given it more stars but for the confused use of "I/he" "they and we".
Often talking as the captain then saying " he" when I would have been better.

A straight forward military Sy Fy

A well written military Syfy with all the bells and whistles. How a last-class petty officer ended up with the coat of a ship Commander was not clear but once in action, he makes all the right moves to win a battle.

Rousing sci-fi

Good story, disappointing ending. The writing is generally good, although marred by a lack of back story, occasional lapses into melodrama, and sloppy editing

I could not get past the implausible idea of an unknown person being able to take the place of a well known officer. They would have gotten him before the ship left the location.

An awesome book!

I love the main character no matter what name he goes by he’s the hero. He stepped up to save the fleet and grew into a wonderful person.
