After Eve

Rate this book
Izabel Jones had the perfect a PhD in psychotherapy and her own, successful practice; a hunky and adoring engineer husband, and a baby on the way—the first of many, Henry, liked to tell her. Then one night the phone rang, and her world turned upside down.

Henry always went running when Izabel’s ex, Bo, needed help. Despite Bo’s abusive history, Henry’s kind heart was determined to help him with his afflictions and teach him to find peace within himself . . . only what started as a usual rescue mission, turned into fatal chaos. Now with her husband’s life and their future in limbo, Izabel is thrown into tragedy, and she must find her inner strength in order to pick up the pieces and rebuild. But rather than follow the advice she would give her patients, she tries to close the door on her demons and ignore the nightmares that terrorize her recovery.

The fate of their marriage has traveled through time and Henry’s love for Izabel is undeniable, but will she risk almost losing him again by shutting him out too? The past and present collide in this dramatic story about family and friends, love and loss, and the journey toward the future.

It is not often that I like a sequel more than the first book, but this was definitely the case with After Eve! We follow Izabel a couple of years after the events of Forever Eve. Life seems perfect, she has an amazing, caring, sexy husband that loves her completely and she has a baby on the way...

After eve dives deeply into the psychological issues caused by people who undergo severe traumas, combined with post-partum depression. I love that the author has brought to light such an important mental health aspect that is not addressed so often in our society. I found it easy to connect to the story and to Izabel, which made this a super fast read! I could really understand what she was going through and her emotions because the author describes it in such a realistic way (even though I haven't gone through these issues myself). I love how strong Izabel is and how she knew to admit when she needed help by seeking out another regression session for help.

This book really inspired me to be a mom, I found myself smiling and at times even had tears in my eyes at some absolutely beautiful family scenes. It just made me so eager to have a baby (or two? :P) of my own. The bathtub scenes, them crawling around the house, all the little things with the babies bring out a heartwarming cozy feeling while reading.

The ending! Everything connected in such a way that I found myself astounded at the end. When I started After Eve I thought that we wouldn't be reading about Eve anymore, however the author is able to masterfully link everything in a way that we still have pieces of Eve throughout the story.

Thank you for the author for gifting me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

After Eve is the anticipated sequel of Forever Eve, which I finished a few days ago and loved. Since I adored Izabel and Henry in the first book, I was excited to see where their story would lead. Needless to say, I enjoyed seeing the moments of their happy married life. It was everything I could ever wish for, especially after everything that Izabel has gone through in the first book. Henry is…perfect. There’s no other way to say this. He’s the dream man, or at least he’s mine. Back off ladies, I claimed him. (Also, the twins were adorable!)

However, not everything is as flowery as it may seem. Something happens in Izabel’s life that leaves her deeply wounded, and she goes through a process of grief that puts her mental health in a bad place. Despite what she preaches to her patients, Izabel begins to shut everyone out, including Henry. The pain was so perfectly described by the author that I felt it as if it were my own, even though I didn’t share the sentiment. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give away anything about this short but beautiful, heartbreaking story. You’ll understand what I mean when you read this book.

One of the things I loved most about Forever Eve was the Past Life Regression therapy sessions and the flashbacks of Eve and Charlie. I missed seeing that in this book and I was hoping we would see something else happen. Who knows, perhaps another past life. It was such an interesting aspect of the story and one I didn’t even know existed until I read this series and read more about it.

The representation of mental health in this book was done very well, and I encourage everyone who likes reading about these topics to give this series a try. Both books are short and filled with content that makes you reflect, and everything is wrapped-up in a very enjoyable and addicting story. I wonder if we’ll get to see more of Izabel in the future. (And no, I’m not saying this because I want more Henry. *sweats*) With a series presenting Past Life Regression therapies, anything can happen, right?

I’m so grateful to the author for sending me an early copy of this book to read!

Wow! This started way different than I had been expecting. Honestly, it was nothing like I had imagined it would be like. But I loved it like I love the author's writing style and how she wrote this story.

This book was even better than Forever Eve. J B Lexington straight up played with my emotions. Once again, the story is told in present and past moments and I was dying to learn what had happened between book 1 and 2 and also what was causing Izabel so much turmoil.

Izabel and Henry's story is so wonderful. These two are just so incredible together and gosh what they went through in this book had me all kinds of emotional. But I loved it, it's so great to see real-life struggles portraited in a book. Books on married couples are pretty rare but I really enjoy them, the ones where you see them going through a rough patch but also see their love and how they go above and beyond to work everything out. This book was like that and I just my heart broke for these two but I never lost hope because these two are soulmates and I believed in their love from the very first second. It's so beautiful to read about these two.

And gosh the story of Eve and Charlie is the best freaking thing, I love how everything is connected and how they play such an important and captivating role in these books. I love it and I need answers omg. The events that happened in this book regarding that plotline had me shook and so damn curious. I need the third book ASAP. Also because I love Natalie so much, she's an outstanding best friend and I can't wait to watch her get her HEA and see just how the new development regarding Eve plays out. I'm so invested in it and it's honestly the best thing about these books. It's what truly captivated me in the Forever Eve and just like Izabel, I need answers desperately.

After reading Forever Eve I was very excited to immediately dive into the sequel. I really enjoyed the romance between Izabel and Henry in the first book, and was hoping to get more of them here. I got my wish!

The story picks up five years after the events of the first book. Izabel and Henry are married and have two lovely daughters, the 10-month-old twins, Hope and Faith. Though the chemistry and maturity that characterizes Henry and Izabel was still strong, their bond was not without obstacles to overcome. Bo, Izabel’s ex abusive husband, is still very much present in their lives. Both Henry and Izabel are determined to help him, but doing so creates a chain reaction of events which threatens to destroy the balance of Izabel and Henry’s lives if they don’t learn to overcome their traumas, both as individuals and a couple.

I will admit I was not enthusiastic about the Bo still being a part of Izabel’s life. I’m not as forgiving as Henry and Izabel when it comes to the things he’s said and done in Forever Eve, but that just adds to the kindness and generosity of the characters J.B. Lexington has created. I did enjoy the strain in the relationship between Izabel and Henry that was born from the events of this book, which I found very realistic. Every couple, even the most united, goes through some hard moments and I love how Izabel and Henry went through lots of personal growth and then took the time to communicate, which is the cure-all for every problem. I praise the author for such a realistic representation of everyday life, even while giving us many steamy and beautiful moments between this couple.

I also really enjoyed the great space given to mental health in this series. Izabel’s journey in After Eve is intense. It may not be the same kind of trauma she had to overcome in Forever Eve, but overcoming loss, PTSD and post-partum depression is no easy feat. Once again, the author takes us into the gutter along with Izabel before showing us the light. The message that comes from Izabel’s journey is once again one of hope—hope that hardships can be overcome by finding one’s inner strength and being unafraid to open up and lean upon those you love. To look for the positive in the beautiful things surrounding us and that make our lives worth living.

A special mention in this review must also go to Natalie, Izabel’s best friend! We’ve always known her as a party girl with no strings attached, but she really went through great growth in the five year gap between the two books. In this book more than ever, Natalie stands in the front lines to guarantee Izabel’s happiness and I’m a sucker for such strong friendship bonds, especially between women. Girls supporting girls should always be the norm!

Thank you once again to the author for allowing me to read an early copy of After Eve, which releases on December 8!

After Eve by JB Lexington is the second steamy installment in the story that follows the turbulent life of Izabel. It continues on from where we left Izabel at the end of Forever Eve, a book I fell in love with back in July when I read and reviewed it.
At the beginning of After Eve, Izabel has everything her heart desires. She is married to the man of her dreams, Henry. She has the career that she has worked so hard for, the love of her mother and her closest friend Natalie, and she is about to become a mom.
However, after Henry, the good hearted soul that he is, goes out to help Bo, Izzy's troubled ex-husband, Izzy must fight to overcome the heart wrenching consequences that are left after that night.
In some cases a reader may feel a slight moment of trepidation when faced with a sequel, hoping that it will live up to the standard of the first book. In this case I knew that I was going to be blown away by the writing of JB Lexington as she continued the difficult journey that is Izabel's life. For me, After Eve not only lived up to the first book in this series but it surpassed it. I now have a new book crush to gush over.
This story had me so enthralled that I read it in one sitting. It truly is an un-put-downable book, with a fast pace, gripping storyline and steamy sex scenes. The difficulties that Izzy has to overcome following a heartbreaking incident had me on the edge of my seat. The aftermath is gut wrenching for Izabel and her whole family and JB has crafted so beautifully the turbulent feelings of all the characters, I felt as if I were immersed within the pages of the story. A particularly tender moment with Izabel's mother had me shedding a tear.
In Forever Eve we met Charlie and Eve, the namesake for the books, in Izzy's Past Life Regression sessions, and I was so happy that in After Eve, we continue to learn about their story as well as Izabel and Henry's. I'm very excited about how Charlie and Eve's tale will continue in the next book.
So if you are a lover of a steamy romance, one that delves into darker waters and also highlights relationships between mother and daughter, between a husband and wife, between best friends and between oneself and one's past life then this is absolutely your book.
If you haven't yet picked up Forever Eve then I highly recommend you do before the release of After Eve in December. These stories should be read in order and I'd even say consecutively so that you can gain the full experience of JB Lexington's wonderful writing.

I absolutely loved the first of these books so have been really keen to read this one. I definitely haven’t been disappointed.

I’m going to start with the cover, I love that the author has maintained the same style but with a different colour. It definitely suits the elegance of the book.

I love the characters in this book, Izabel is a great character and this book definitely is a new favourite. I love that we revisit and pick up where the first book left off. My excitement was unreal about this book.

The author has a gorgeous writing style which pulled me in quickly. I have been completely captived and unwilling to put this one down.

A definite five star read.

"Izabel, just remember sparrows always find their way home."
After Eve is the beautiful sequel to one of my most favourite books, Forever Eve. It begins 5 years after the events of Forever Eve, with Iz and Henry happily married with a baby on the way. Their life is picture perfect until it is not. A series of events involving Henry and Bo cause everything in Izabels's life to tumble down like dominoes. She might lose her baby, her best friend and the love of her life. What I loved about this book is how realistic it is. Even with a supposed romance plot, the author has done a beautiful job of showing readers what some real-life incidents of mental health issues could look like for many people. She has not tried to romanticise it, the way I see it done in many books, and is instead served as it is. The author has also shown how support, understanding, and therapy can help deal with situations like these. It's one of the most critical aspects of the book that resonated with me. Other than this, I really loved the characters and their arc, how all the characters are real, flawed and unique, making them loveable and relatable. Henry of course, is the best man to exist! Alas, these men that steal our hearts are fictional. My favourite is Nat!! She is the best friend every person should have!
I love how bold, fiercely protective, understanding, and loving she is! I especially love how she finds her one true love with ben. he is such a sweetie. The one thing I missed in this book was the past life regression sessions, but since it has been explained, how that story has already been told, I am satisfied with that. Hopefully, we can get to see more of those now that the book has ended on a sort of a cliffhanger. I am really excited to see more of Charlie and eve's, henry and Izabel's, and Natalie and ben's story. I'd also like to see a little interaction between Dr Jones and Mr Smith! Overall I absolutely recommend this book to readers of romance who are looking for a little extra something!
I cannot wait for the author to release the next book!

I think ‘excited’ was an understatement when I found out the wonderful JB Lexington’s follow up to Forever Eve was in the works! It’s finally here, and I honestly could not be more impressed right now. This one is definitely my favourite book of the two and I’m still sat in awe just taking everything in! I was so excited to dive back into the lives of some fantastic characters and to see just how Izabel’s life had changed after the ending of the last book, especially after meeting Henry. I wasn’t quite ready for how explosive and unexpected this one was!

After Eve is the perfect follow up to Forever Eve – completely unpredictable and deliciously beautiful until the very end. There are some delicate topics in the book once again, and the author visits these with such care and attention to detail. We join Izabel on her recovery journey from PTSD and postpartum depression, and even though some of it isn’t easy to read, I was astounded by the author’s ability to express feeling and emotion so intensely through her words. We also continue to see the irresistible relationship between Izabel and Henry, which I’m sure fans have all been desperate to read more about! I’m once again in awe of her writing talent and I’m secretly hoping book three will be coming our way very soon!

After Eve is an amazing sequel to Forever Eve. I was curious to see how the author would continue with the story and I was pleasantly surprised. The story starts 5 years after we last saw Izabel in Forever Eve, where she is happily married to the handsome Henry and has two adorable baby girls.
The story is told in two timelines, the present with Izabel suffering through psychological effects of a terrible trauma that occurred, and a past time line which gives us insights to the time of this terrible event.
The way the author intertwined both timelines was perfect, in a way that would keep us completely intrigued at what happened and at the same time receiving bits and pieces of information as we progress.
My favorite parts were ofcourse the spicy scenes, which the author is an expert at writing! I was blushing and giggling at the sizzling hot scenes between Henry and Izabel. HENRY IS A DREAM, where can I find mine? 😅

Also I loved how our girl Natalie has found someone, Ben, who I found completely adorable.

Overall a quick and romantic read, with strong family moments, also with important mentions of mental health issues. I absolutely recommend!

This book and its prequel are unconventional novels that deal with some really heavy topics. The writing is fast-paced and draws you in. Although not exactly escapist reads, if you're looking for serious topics and serious angst, these might be for you!

This book takes place 5 years after the events of Forever Eve. Although Izabel found a lasting love (and the chemistry is still wildly volatile), she is still working through issues related to her past. Her relationships are put to the test as she must reconcile her past with Bo and his family, her present with her husband, and her platonic friendship with Nat.

CWs: physical abuse; rape; prostitution; infidelity; medical trauma.

This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the novel.

An excellent sequel to Forever Eve!! I absolutely devoured this one! It was sad, happy, steamy, addicting and everything you need in a book! This filled me with so many emotions and kept me hooked the entire time.

I love the characters so much and the plot is so quick paced and intriguing. I read the majority of this book in one sitting because the writing style is so beautiful and the storyline is absolutely powerful! This is one of these books that stays with you forever because it impacts you in a very emotional and spiritual way.

I can’t wait for the next book to come out especially since this one ended on a cliffhanger. I highly recommend this to everyone because it has very important messages to spread but it’s also very fun and enjoyable to read.

Note: Thank you to the author for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

After Eve is the sequel to Forever Eve, and continues Henry and Izabel's story.

Partly told through flashbacks, it is a beautifully written story of love, despair, hope, pain, faith, fear, romance and friendship. It deals with the mental anguish that comes from abuse and trauma - and how, through love and support, you can overcome the demons of your past to step into a brighter future.

Please note that mental health plays a vital role in the story, covering such topics as PTSD, survivor's guilt, postpartum depression and anxiety.

On a personal note: I did have one issue with something in the story. Izabel states that it was kind, and the right thing to do, to help her abusive ex-husband whenever he called. PLEASE. If you have been in an abusive relationship and have managed to escape, and you are safe - please do not continue to place yourself in the path of your abuser. Even if you think that it is the "kind, and right thing to do." Be safe. ❤

After Eve by JB Lexington 💙

After Eve is the sequel to Forever Eve. I just couldn't wait to read what happens next and let me tell you I loved it. It continues with the story of Izabel and Henry.

Henry is amazing, perfect man Izabel could ask for after all that she went. With everything going good suddenly a day comes where Izabel's world crashes leaving her wounded. The grief takes her in a bad place making it difficult for her to live happily and causing pain to her closed ones. She can't apply the preaching she gives to her patients.

I don't want to give anything away as this is a story so beautiful yet heartbreaking. It was not what I expected. I love how the stories are connected and incredibly written. This book has great and adorable characters specially the twins. Also, not forgetting Nat, she is what you would want in a best friend. Being the back bone for Izabel and her prioritising her happiness.

With writing a beautiful book the author has also given space about mental health in a good way which if anyone is interested to read about please go and get both the book in the series.

I loved this books from start to end, it was gripping, fast paced, deeply thoughtful and I read it in one sitting. I recommend both the booknon the series.

Thank you JB Lexington for province me with the copy.

This book follows on with Izabel's story. Izabel has reached a point in her life where things finally seem to be going to plan. Until one night when a desire to help mixes with being in the wrong place at the wrong time and her life is turned upside down.

Izabel faces a difficult journey where she hits rock bottom before she can finally move forward.

Once again it is fantastic to see mental health being a central theme in this romance book, and normalising the conversation and importance same.

Super spicy scenes will keep you hot and bothered throughout.

We also get more of Izabel's zainey best friend Natalie's story throughout this book, and we absolutely adore Natalie and her overwhelming ability to love and accept all.

This was a great sequel to Forever Eve. I loved continuing the story with Izabel and Henry. Oh the emotions while reading this!! It’s all I can ask for from a book, to feel all the feels, and this gave me that.

I also still want to be best friends with Natalie. She is the absolute best! I want a novel surrounding her ❤️

I Want What They Have

I was so excited to get my hands on the 2nd book by this author. I wasn't disappointed at all. So beautiful is the story of Izzy and her Rudolph men. And I fall more in love with Nat every time she opens her filthy mouth. 😂 This is a wonderful second novel.

We were asked to read books 1 and 2 of the series and reviewed them together. This review is also available at Forever Eve, and Ingrid's full review can be read at The Smut Report.

Heat Factor: Very steamy. Extremely steamy. Lots of moments containing steam.

Character Chemistry: We have ourselves here a duet (please say trilogy) of books starting with a lovely dose of fated mates and proceeding right on into “seducing my spouse” so I’d say it’s meant to be and meant to stick.

Plot: We start with Izabel’s marriage to Bo, and a whole fleet of waving red flags. As Izabel struggles to understand what’s going terribly wrong in her marriage, she ends up seeing a hypnotherapist specializing in past life regression therapy. Things go nuts. That’s book one. Then on with the second book and my poor heart…

Overall: This duet was really pretty great–extremely sexy with a really creative execution and likeable characters. I’m including a few trigger warnings for violence against women.

I’m on a roll with another really fantastic recommendation. Forever Eve and After Eve turned out to be pretty captivating. When the first book opens, Izabel is getting married, and although it’s clear she’s truly in love with Bo there’s immediately a building sense of dread. Turns out that’s because he’s abusive and unfaithful! Also a warning that there’s a pretty upsetting rape scene between them, and the whole first part is just really heartbreaking.

I kind of feel like it’s hard to shift into a love story after such a terrible and soul-shattering marriage like that, to the point where I seriously worried that this romance just wasn’t going to fly or that she’d end up in a “this new man saved me!” type thing, but Izabel’s best friend ends up setting her up with this Past Life Regression therapist and we meet Charlie and Eve. Charlie and Eve are potent and the scenes with them are just vibrant and rich. In these memories, Izabel IS Eve, and she meets her Charlie, with whom she has in instant and deep connection. Almost immediately after her therapy session, Izabel meets Henry (who is undeniably Charlie) and things start almost right where they left off.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. We disclose this in accordance with 16 CFR §255.

Ladies and gentlemen "After Eve" roll out this week to continue the closeness of "Izabel" and his man "Henry".

It will be unfair not to note down how spicy and sizzling it gets, when they have those amorous pleasure moments.

Stumbling block from past story has now become scars of battle just like a warrior glorify it as a reward for her.

Things started to become normal in Izabel's life, she had a lovely husband and sooner she is going to become a mother as she is in late trimester of her pregnancy.

Everything shown till here is like a bird sitting happy in her nest. Taking care of herself and family. She has her everything now. This is what she had dreamed for in the past. A perfect time.

As you have remembered "Bo" Izabel's ex husband in forever eve, do you think he would have changed himself ? No, time made things worse for Bo. He struggles and asks help from Izabel.

Izabel absolutely helpful for bo as she was a PhD in psychotherapy and nice human being. Henry ran by as whenever Bo needed that support he never said no. Even after knowing Bo's issues and behaviour in the past Henry showed a mature support and guidance to help him heal.

Natalie Spencer is too humorous and funny yet a kind true friend. A friend everyone wishing for once seeing here. Friendship & motherhood will melt your heart in the entire read.

No language changes done. It has the same feel as in the past script so that everyone can read and connect with the story. I really appreciate this thing.

Story takes a huge turn. One night the phone rang and it created a Havoc for Izabel's life once again and this time with limitless potential. What could it be? Is Henry in Danger or it could be Bo?

I love not least of all how this book sorted many questions along with the biggest one " Love story of Charlie and Eve".

Here is a tip : Buy both "Forever eve" and "After Eve".
Go through the story and find the uttermost pleasure of reading.

After Eve is an amazing sequel of Forever Eve. I was curious to see how the story would continue and I was amazed. In this book we meet a new Izabel. Married to Henry Jones, she has a happy and peaceful life. But Bo, her ex-husband is still very much present in their lives. Both Henry and Izabel want to help him, but this threatens to destroy their lives if they do not learn to overcome their traumas. I wouldn't want him to be part of their life and if I were in their place I wouldn't forgive him, but this shows the kindness and generosity of the characters. The themes treated in this book are mental health, strength and hope. We must not give up on anything in the world, we must move forward and this book teaches us this better. Thank you to the author for providing me the sequel of "Forever Eve", I loved it! 🤍💙

I just had the pleasure of finishing After Eve, the very much anticipated sequel to Forever Eve, and it did not disappoint. It's just as steamy and eventful as the first book, but a little more mature.

We dive right back into Izabel and Henry's romance, except a few years have passed and a slew of events have happened. Some good and some incredibly heartbreaking.

The rollercoaster of events that are disclosed open up the conversation to be had on severe traumas such as PTSD, post-partum depression and grief. Trust me when I tell you, that this story definitely pulls at your heart strings. If you're looking to find closure to book 1, you have to read After Eve.

I want to thank Haleigh House Publishing for the gifted ebook in return for my honest review.
