From the very beginning An Unholy Affair sucked me in. That first chapter, where Eveline and Jack meet up, had me hooked and I didn’t let go. In fact, I was so engrossed in this book that one time I forgot the time and I was late for work. Book 2 is Jack and Eveline’s romance and with entertaining cast of characters returning from book 1 this is chock full of goodness, feels, steam and laughs.

Jacks unconventional escort profession made me uncomfortable but that’s what I love about Evie’s books. Her MCs aren’t perfect and she showcases their flaws. These aren’t the typical romance book flaws like being commitment phobic (men) and insecurity issues (women), like in other books. She doesn’t need to create false drama. And the issues each character has are things we all can relate to. She also tackles some sensitive topics like addiction with, honesty, grace and reverence. One thing that stands out here is that her male characters struggle with some form of insecurity. It’s rare that you see that these days when so many books are filled with cocky confident alpha holes. But don’t let that fool you. Jack certainly has alpha tendencies and it’s super-hot. So, it’s refreshing to see an MMC struggle with real-life insecurities and hang-ups.

And can we talk about the steam factor? Oh Lordy, I can’t get enough of Jack’s hot and sexy self. And yes, one doesn’t expect a Vicar to be a sexual being but Eveline taps in to her hidden vixen and is a perfect partner for Jack.

An escort and a Vicar… who would have thought that could work but Alexander makes this heartwarming, sexy and angsty read about growth and acceptance.

Evie Alexander, you did it again! I LOVED unholy affair. Jack is giving Rory, from Highland Games, a run for his money as my favorite book boyfriend of yours. Bring on book 3 with James Hunter Savage as I canNOT wait for it.

I flew through this book so fast! I absolutely loved it. It was witty, and spicy, and even emotional sometimes. There are some TW with this one: alcoholism and parental abuse (not on page, history). I love how Evie adds depth to her stories, and it isn’t just a wham, bam, thank you ma’am! I thoroughly enjoyed this one!

❤️ Tropes ❤️
💋gender swapped priest (she’s a vicar) yeah I’ve seen y’all loving this trope!
💋 not necessarily a virgin but might as well be (no big O)
💋 grumpy v sunshine

Eveline was at busy bar waiting for her best friend to show up. Feeling down, she prays that the perfect man will be sent her way. When she opens her eyes, there he is. Gorgeous, funny, and knows all of her favorite movie references. Just as she’s working up the courage to kiss him, he pulls away as another woman calls his name, apologizing. A year later, she is going to offer her condolences to the family of one of her church members when she runs into him. And his name is not Jasper like he told her. What is happening?

Thank you to Book Sirens for the copy to review, all thoughts are my own.

NOT SAFE!

Descriptive sex scene with OW, hero is an escort and of course heroine is celibate for more than a decade 🤮

⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

Jack closed his eyes, focusing on the movement of his tongue against Sylvia’s clit, the pattern of her breathing as she chased a third orgasm. He projected the most lurid and depraved fantasies onto his mind, trying to persuade a particular part of his body to sit up and listen.
It wasn’t enough to make her climax. She could get that for free on her own. Sylvia Lydney was paying for his cock. However, his money-making member was currently on strike and not responding to any of the urgent messages he was sending its way.
He licked faster, responding to the subtle cues he’d learnt a year ago when they’d first had sex. She was close, but he hadn’t even reached the starting line. Bringing a hand to his cock, he frantically tried to rub it back to life, and allowed himself to slip into the ultimate fantasy—that of another red-headed woman.
But even that shot of visual Viagra didn’t work. His cock was refusing to play ball.
‘Jasper,’ Sylvia gasped, patting his shoulder as if to get his attention.
The false name he always used with clients now turned his stomach.
He raised his head. ‘You okay, Sylvia?’ he asked, making sure he sounded sufficiently out of breath with arousal.
‘I want to come with you inside me.’
Fuck! He vibrated the tip of his tongue against her clit. ‘You sure about that?’
She laughed breathlessly. ‘Yes, Jasper. There’s nothing in the world as good as your cock.’
He hummed approval into her pussy, then slowly kissed his way up her body.
Eveline’s legs clamped around my head as she comes on my face. Eveline screaming my name as she climaxes around my cock. Eveline begging for more. Eveline—
‘Jasper? Is everything okay?’
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK!
‘Mmmm?’ he replied, lazily circling Sylvia’s nipple.
She pushed him off and sat up. ‘You don’t find me attractive enough?’
‘No! Jesus, Sylvia, you’re a stunningly beautiful woman in every way.’ Kneeling in front of her, he tucked a strand of long red hair behind her ear. ‘I want to be here. I have no idea why—’ he cleared his throat, ‘—it’s not working.’
‘Has this ever happened before?’
He shook his head. Women came to him wanting to feel special and wanted. He was failing Sylvia in the way that mattered most.
‘Do you have any stimulants you could use?’
Now he was truly impotent. He shook his head again. ‘I’ve never needed them before.’
‘Maybe it was the amount of wine we had with dinner?’ she asked tentatively. ‘You, er, we did drink rather a bit?’
Could he blame that? In the past, he’d always been able to perform completely shit-faced.

Foxbrooke series #2
Eveline, the town vicar is always sunny, her job is to serve her people. And despite being giving a rough time by the older residents, she still moves forwards with positivity and plans for her parish.
Jack Newton has a reputation for being a playboy and has returned to Foxbrooke for his dad's funeral, but his life is one big secret, something he intended to keep, until he meets the vicar. As he confesses about his life, he falls for Eveline and begins to see that the tiny town he loathed, is not so bad if the one you love is with you. Naive good girl meets bad boy rogue.

Right away, the reader is transported to the tiny village of Foxbrooke and it's eccentric residents. Even if you haven't read any of the previous books by Evie Alexander, you'll right away note that she is just a talent when it comes to writing. In this book, I was expecting the humor and laugh out loud scenes that are key in Alexander's novels, but what I found was so much more! Lady Estelle Foxbrooke gives us plenty of smiles with her snarkyness and quips, but this was a much more deeper and serious romantic story than the other. Mainly as Jack and Eveline are dealing with many issues that are so human and so relatable, that the book took on a more serious theme in my opinion. It is very much dealing with mental health struggles and I praise Alexander for highlighting these in a story like this as these can be glossed over. But as nearly everyone on this planet has or know someone who is struggling, we can relate and be further drawn into the story, all the while seeing that happiness is possible.
I loved that Eveline has a background that would be less than holy and that Jack whom everyone thinks is a certain way, is really not. And that he sees right away how much serving her parish, is really not serving her purpose. And then him finding his purpose along the journey.
I really enjoyed this heartwarming story in a different way than laughing out loud at my screen. I highly recommend reading this and I cannot wait for the fun ride that Estelle's book will be!

“This was such a beautiful story. A story about love, forgiveness, and acceptance. On top of all the beauty, it has just the right balance of spicy to keep it fully engaging. There are several difficult things in this story; however, they are approached from a place of love, acceptance, and kindness. So much so that you can feel how everything will be ok with these perfectly flawed characters. I have never felt such a connection with fictional characters. I just wanted to reach through the book and crush them in a lovely hug. I was just so moved by this story and by their love story and I cannot say enough lovely things. I look forward to more from Foxbrooke, but this book will be hard to top.”

“Let’s start with the obvious - An Unholy Affair is an immensely readable and enjoyable book that even a time poor mood reader like me raced through in a short few days. The characters are fascinating and the story just flows.

It’s also a brave, stand-out book.

Evie tackles a divisive subject matter and morally loaded characters with compassion and respect yet without any sugar coating. Everyone is deeply human and their growth and struggles are messy, inspiring, hilarious and relatable.

I mean, I’m a Christian and I went in a bit nervous. But the author’s good judgement shows on every page. There were no crass jokes and I never felt like I was fed an agenda of any kind, which is almost impossible to do with religious themes. I don’t personally believe in ’Christian art’ (it’s just another form of propaganda) but I believe in people of any faith and worldview creating art, as well as tackling religious themes. It’s all part of the human experience.

I will say, If you have a problem with on-page sex, this is not for you. But if you enjoy books that explore an unfiltered gamut of human experience: heart, humour, heat, heaven and hell, PICK THIS UP. It’s a deeply satisfying read.”

“Complete Opposites Attract in Small Town with Heat, Warmth and Heart

This book is so much more than a romantic comedy. Although there were very comedic moments and also some very steamy ones, the heart of the story to me was the unconditional acceptance and caring that Jack and Eveline had for each other that enabled them to share and fight their individual demons and become stronger together. I laughed, cried, hated some characters, loved others and truly enjoyed reading about their journeys, growth and eventual HEA. It was well-written, fast paced and I could not put it down. I can't wait for Estelle's story coming next - Enjoy!”

“She's a vicar, he's an escort. Yes, really.
And no, she didn't hire him.

This book is jam packed with sexual tension and steam, realistic characters with flaws and less than ideal families/backgrounds (serious undertones include alcoholism and childhood trauma). There's plenty of humour, and a pushy man who in my mind walked straight out of Pride & Prejudice - because why wouldn't a woman want to marry a man older than her father?! - and doesn't take rejection well. Familiar characters are mixed with new ones as we get to know Eveline and Jack.

There's a guaranteed happy ever after, but the author has you worrying a fair bit before you get there! And not in the typical 3rd act break up kind of way, this is life and death and very gripping! 😱

An Unholy Affair is book 2 in the Foxbrooke series and can be read as a standalone but is even better if you've read Love Ad Lib (which I adored). It also sets up book 3, The Upper Crush, PERFECTLY ”

“HOLY SMOKES!!!!!

Let me start by saying that I would read Evie Alexander's grocery list and be completely sucked in! This book, the second in the Foxbrooke series checks every box for me!

I wasn't sure how Evie was going to write her typical steamy rom-com with the FMC being a vicar but she delivered in every hot and steamy way!

Jack and Eveline are polar opposites when it comes to their jobs yet somehow their souls are drawn together.

Eveline sees the good in Jack yet Jack fails to see the good in himself. The transformation of Jack throughout this book is so well written and true to life. To come to terms with the love Jack has for Eveline he works hard to create a better version of himself! Eveline continues to be the light that shines in all those around her. Her friendship with Estelle is one that makes the reader want to be a part of their girl gang!

I devoured this book and could not get enough of Jack and Eveline. The steam is off the charts, Evie's best work in my opinion! I love when the steam balances the characters' personalities so well! I've been sucked into Foxbrooke and I never want to leave! I can't wait to see what lies ahead for Estelle and James… hopefully he delivers on the BDE!!!!”

“💖Small Town Romance
💖Forbidden Love
💖Love at First Sight

These characters captured my heart in such a big way!! The main storyline is Jack and Eveline’s journey to love, but I loved how there were several side stories as well. There are elements of conflict, but it’s so heartwarming and so comical too! Everything flowed so nicely, and I was completely immersed in the story.

I loved how Jack recognized that Eveline is always taking care of other people and putting their needs before her own. The way he wants to take care of her and make her life easier is so sweet! I also loved seeing their personal growth journeys as they both are dealing with personal obstacles/struggles. They are such good hearted characters and you will be cheering them on the whole time like I was!

Now let’s talk about the spice! The building sexual tension between them is so electrifying! I don’t want to spill any juicy details, but there are so many descriptive spicy scenes and they are written so well! You will be able to feel the heat coming off the pages!!!”

Once again, I couldn’t help but enjoy this feel-good romance from Evie Alexander. The characters, the plot, the spice, they were all just what you want from a romance novel.

One of the thing I liked best about this novel was that Eveline and Jack both had things to work through personally, beyond their relationship with each other. Eveline had to deal with the fact that she was vastly undervaluing her own time, worth and work and not taking care of her own personal needs. Jack had to work through childhood trauma, shame around his profession, and alcoholism. While striving to be together in a relationship helped with this, they still had to do the work themselves. I really appreciated this, because I feel like romances often make it seem like the relationship itself solves all the characters’ problems. Here we see the reality of how people have to better themselves and be comfortable with themselves as individuals, instead of just expecting their significant other to sweep in and save the day. This bit of realism grounded the book more for me.

I also once again loved the characters. Eveline and Jack are both extremely likable, plus the side characters are amazing. Jack remains caring and considerate, even after all that he has been through, and Eveline is positive, supportive, and withholds judgment. I’m still champing at the bit for Estelle’s stories, because she is my absolute favorite, and it was nice to have the little hints of Libby and Henry’s relationship from Love Ad Lib.

One character that I didn’t expect to have much feelings for other than disdain was Jack’s mom, but I appreciated how she was treated as a character. At first, I thought she was being set up to just be the reason for Jack to return and stay in Foxbrooke and wouldn’t play much part in the plot beyond this. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how we see that the first impression of her as a self-centered, helpless and uncaring mother and grandmother changes as she becomes her own person again after the death of her husband. While the scars are not all healed over in the end, I liked how there are some movements towards making amends for the neglect and harm of the past.

Aside from all of this, just a few other things I enjoyed in the book:

-More nerdy references! This time, Princess Bride was doing it for me.

-The spicy scenes were firing on all cylinders and I was here for it.

-The fact that Evie Alexander was so thorough in the content warnings section at the beginning of the book. There is clear care for the wellbeing of her readers.

I can’t wait to get right back into Foxbrooke with the next book!

Well, it might seem Eveline is the opposite of Jack regarding faith versus fate, but Jack certainly ends up a believer!

Like a model or a sportsman, his chosen career is also meant to be at its peak in his twenties, but I think in truth he chose it to renege the values he was raised in just to cut himself from all that his father represented. In burying this festering wound, he also cut himself from all the people who had meaning in his life, and almost severed himself from his soul.
But love at first sight seems to be a real thing, and fate cannot be denied. It calls him home to discover the power of friendship, love and hope.

Vicar Eveline meets Jack Newton and it’s as if she’s sent from up above! They instantly click and their chemistry is out of the world. Unfortunately, they can’t act on their lightning streak of an attraction until they meet again, one year later.

This is such an adorable read! An Unholy Affair is the second full novel in the Foxbrooke series, and can be read as a standalone. Still, if An Unholy Affair is your introduction to the series, make sure you read the first one, Love ad Lib, too. It features the best of bestest British book boyfriends have to offer: Lord Henry Foxbrooke. That man is in his own league, and I’m still not over him. Luckily for us, he’ll show up and make a cameo as Jack’s friend - and you’ll love their banter in the group chat!

That being said, I really liked Eveline and Jack as a couple. They were flirty, but also caring, and mature. There was so much respect, looking after each other, and healthy communication, that I found it almost refreshing. I know this should be the standard, but it is often a big flaw in romance, that by default need conflict to swoon the reader over and keep them engaged. An Unholy Affair shows that romance don’t need unnecessary drama (or worse: miscommunication) to thrive.

While this was a romance with flirty moments, flaming hot scenes, and a fabulous ending, it did handle some heavier topics and it wasn’t an easy beeline to the Happily Ever After. Both Eveline and Jack needed to work on themselves; Eveline to accept help and to set healthy boundaries, and Jack had some serious healing to do. It was nice to see them grow so much, that I felt like a proud momma cheering for these kiddos to have made it to the finish line.

Can’t wait to see where the Foxbrooke series brings us next!

What started out slow turned into a “leave me alone and let me finish reading” book. I mean combining a vicar with an escort? The initial meet cute had me hooked and eventually led to some great “I hope no one is reading over my shoulder” moments. Some of the mishaps and blunders the characters encountered were fun to read. The side characters also made this a great story and left me wanting Estelle’s story so bad!

I can't say enough about how much I love this book okay, it was so sweet and so lovely and swoony 😭 it's a fated love ish romance + hurt/comfort + small town + they are super opposites on the surface (you'll see when you read). They're so starry eyed in love and it was absolute fun reading this book! And also, there so many "who did this to you" and "who hurt you" and "I'll take care of you" scenes <33

TWs - alcoholism, death (of parent, of friend), suicide mention, homophobia and repeated domestic abuse by parents, stalking, unwanted advances, professional sabotage

Having loved book 1 in the series it was great to be back in Foxbrooke, this time with Eveline and Jack who we got to see a little of in the first book. As with most of Evie's books I believe, you don't need to have read the others in order to read the rest, each one is a self-contained love story, but I'd definitely recommend reading them all for extra context and to get to know the other characters better. Plus there's of course essentially "spoilers" for the previous books if you were then to go back and read them.
This one was another roaring success! I've loved all of Evie's books that I've read so far and I seriously cannot wait for the rest of the books in this great series. I especially love the subtle hints to who some of the other couples will be in the later books. There was one little paragraph where I thought omg yes they're going to be one of the future couples! Foxbrooke is the perfect little English small town setting and all of the characters are so lovable! You get quite a big cast with the Foxbrooke's being a large family (although neither of these mains were true Foxbrookes) but it's really easy to keep track of who's who and is a nice change from those romances that are all about the two MCs who have maybe like one friend each and one has a sibling. With Evie's books you get great fleshed out storylines that make you never want to stop reading as well as of course Evie's famous steamy scenes.
I loved the insta-love trope in this. I know some people find it unrealistic, but with Eveline being a vicar the idea of insta-love and coincidences and the feeling of there being a higher power at work just worked really well. That would be exactly how I think she'd view the scenarios and it worked great whether you're religious or not. Both her and Jack were lovely characters, with excellent progression overcoming personal obstacles and together as a couple. They really were perfect for each other and I love them!
I can't wait to visit Foxbrooke again for Estelle's story. Perfect as always you should definitely get started on this series!

I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to read an ARC of An Unholy Affair and the following is my honest review. I was not sure what I was getting myself into, but I was intrigued by the cover artwork and the synopsis. Technically this is the second book in the Foxbrooke series of interconnected stand-alones - the first being Love ad Lib.

I went into this thinking that maybe Jack and Eveline would have been childhood sweethearts or first loves, but it was more along the lines of strangers meeting up again after a chance encounter. However, their connection is still very compelling and I was rooting for them the whole time. There were also various characters that I was booing at as they tried to interfere.

Eveline might be one of the loveliest, most genuine members of the clergy I’ve ever read about (in truth, there haven’t been many, but it’s the thought that counts, right?). She is the vicar of a small town church who wants nothing more than to find love and keep her church thriving. Jack has been using his “God-given talents” to fund a lavish lifestyle far away from his childhood home. A series of events bring these two back together a year after they first met and sparks start flying once more.

I was not expecting this book to touch on such serious topics, but I grew to love Jack and Eveline even more from what they persevered through in their pasts - and a bit of the present. Jack and Eveline’s pasts shaped them into the people they are now - ones that are perfect for one another. Although the story didn’t shy away from some tough topics, it also made me laugh out loud several times and left me with a smile on my face.

This book is definitely worth your time even if you haven’t already read Love ad Lib. I fully plan to go back and read Love ad Lib in the near future and I’m hoping that the next book will focus on Eveline and Jack’s friend, Estelle.

I will not be lying when I saw that Evie did it again, delivered another binge/swoon worthy read with lots of banter, movie references and just the right amount of steam ( I wouldn’t mind if there was more! 🫣). An Unholy Affair can be read as a stand-alone but I urge to grab a copy of Love Ad Lib (Book 1) and get into the Foxbrooke spirit.
Eveline is an empath and a giver, a quality everyone at her workplace is taking advantage of, especially one person. After a random encounter with Jack, they run into each other a year later when Jack shows up at Foxbrooke and sparks fly. Their chemistry is through the roof and enough to set a house on fire. I enjoyed the backstory of these two and it helped build up the characters really well. While I wished for Eveline to set boundaries, Jack did annoy me at times, but not enough to hate him.
The slow burn had me screaming (🫣) but the build up was worth it! 🌶️ Jack knew a lot more than most men and Eveline had been saving herself for the Mr. Right. I loved how gently Eveline helps Jack through his grief and how he keeps being there for her, sometimes without even asking.
There is enough movie banter to keep you hooked, laugh out loud moments and I enjoyed that the gang from the first book showed up. There are a few more interesting quirks to learn about the Foxbrooke lot and I cannot wait to read what’s next in the series! (More 🌶️ please?🫣)
This is a book about second chances, the power of manisfestation & fate. Jack is another swoon worthy character on my list. A must read!

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

If Evie Alexander is to be canonized, I suppose this read would count as her miracle, because these two COMPLETELY OPPOSITE personalities should not be this charismatic as a couple.

Being a vicar isn't exactly the kind of profession that brings the boys to Eveline Shaw's yard, but all love takes is one man, and she might just have found the one. Jack Newton isn't the long-term type, though. The escort might be drawn to Eveline, but between his secret profession and insecurities, a happily ever after just isn't on the horizon for them..or so he thinks.

I enjoyed this book so much despite jumping into it with some credulity. I mean, a vicar and an escort is more likely a start to a horrible joke than an engaging romance read, but I should have had more faith in Evie Alexander to deliver a spicy, hilarious love story about two unlikely people.

There is more to comedic circumstance than what the description promises, too. Alexander delivers relatable and engaging depth to her characters that makes their arcs -- as individuals and as a couple -- so much richer.

This can be read as a standalone, but characters from Alexander's previous Foxbrooke books do make cameos in this read.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Evie Alexander for providing an ARC. **

Another adventure to Foxbrooke did not disappoint! I was a little skeptical about the vicar, but my curiosity won and the fact that I love everything that I have read by Evie Alexander. Eveline is surprisingly warm and down to earth and a testament to what I think God's love really looks like. Not judgemental, loving unconditionally. I would happily attend Saint Saviors.
The chemistry between her and Jack at the start was off the charts and their slow burn was delicious. The spice in this one had me staying up late reading in bed and kicking off the covers, lol. It was fire! Not entirely surprised given Jack's vocation. Evie, how do you do it?! Another wonderful story and I hope there will be more to come. The supporting cast is just that good!

This was an amazing opposites attract romance. It was by far my favorite book by the author, it just had everything I love in a story. It was funny, steamy and really moving. Eveline and Jack had a great meet cute and I loved how many things they had in common despite being so different. As the story progressed one of my absolute favorite things was seeing how he went out of his way to care for her and she really needed that. This was just such an amazing story.

I mean - I don't really know what more I can say about Evie's books, that I've not ready said many times!
They are jam packed with fun and humour and an absolute joy to read.

This is book 2 in the Foxbrooke series and having read book 1 - Love Ad Lib a little while ago and loved it, I couldn't wait to dive back into this next installment.

I love how Evie introduces a character to us and then builds on them throughout, so having already met Evaline in the last book, it was really great to explore her relationship story more in this book. But also to revisit her and Estelle's friendship and build on this.

Evaline was a great character and given her occupation and personality, it was easy to see why she'd had trouble finding the right man in the past - this also gave us some real funny moments given her innocence and the nature of these books.

I adored Jack from the start and you could just tell that the pair were made for each other, but the polar opposites of their experience made me want to hide and peek from behind my fingers, just waiting for someone to slip up.

As ever with Evie there are some super steamy scenes - I mean would it really be an Evie book without them!?

Another absolutely brilliant read and I'm so happy to see that book 3 is already revealed - cannot wait to dive right in!!

An Unholy Affair is the second novel in the Foxbrooke series. Vicar Eveline falls for escort Jack, which makes for some fun and sexy times!

Evie did what she does best, creating a funny and very steamy story filled with lots of banter and laugh out loud scenes. But what I liked most about this book, was that she wrote about real issues like alcoholism, physical abuse (by a parent, not on page), and an unwanted guest who doesn't know what the word no means.

Being a vicar, Eveline has been celibate for quite some time, hoping to meet her soulmate sooner rather than later. She's 35, and her biological clock is spinning out of control. When Jack enters her life for a second time, she believes he was sent to her by God. But what he does to her is anything but holy.

Jack never told anyone that he was an escort, and he'd rather keep it that way. But when everything starts to go down the crapper, he has to come clean so that his friends can help him with his issues. Being with Eveline means he has to move back to his childhood neighborhood and that he has to leave the past far behind him. The past always catches up, though.

Eveline is used to doing everything alone, and slowly, it's becoming too much to handle, but asking for help is not something she does. This gets her in a rather unpleasant situation with one of her parishioners, who truly believes Eveline is his for the taking.

Firstly, if you have not started the Foxbrooke series yet—One Night in Foxbrooke (prequel novella) and Love Ad Lib (book 1, Henry and Libby)—you don't need to to enjoy An Unholy Affair , but I think you'll get more enjoyment from knowing some of the background and side characters to Eveline and Jack's story.

An Unholy Affair is witty, charming, delightfully steamy (if you know, you know... Evie is going to deliver), and gets all your emotions ramped up. From the second-chance/opposites-attract/will-they-won't-they angst to the emotional journeys both Eveline and Jack have overcome/struggle through to the pure rage against a particularly loathsome character... Argh!

While this installment leans a little more contemporary than romantic comedy compared to Love Ad Lib, there are still plenty of laughs to be had. And I adored that we got more of all the characters from the series, especially Estelle. (Side note: OMG I think her book is going to be soooo good!) I loved her friendship with Eveline.

If you're looking for top-notch steamy romance with great characters, lots of laughs, and all the love you can't go wrong with reading any (or all) of Evie's romances.

I was very grateful to review and advance copy, but now I have to WAIT (impatiently, LOL) for the promised swoony French extended epilogue!

This is book 2 in Alexander's Foxbrooke series and can be read as a standalone but in all fairness, I have to warn you that once you read anything by Alexander you will be hooked! This book like all the books I've read by her so far provide the best of characters - I adore this band of friends who are more like a family and all their uniqueness. This book focus' on Jack who while he grew up on Foxbrooke has been away for many years and is now back to deal with his father's death. Our other main character is Eveline who has become a part of this Foxbrooke mash up of friends and is the towns vicar. So much going on with these characters from family dynamics to work struggles and so much more in-between it all. Alexander provides a beautiful humor with laughs thru the struggles which I think we all in real life need to have.
Overall, this book is wonderfully written with amazing characters. A perfect balance of sweet romance, steamy chemistry and laughs throughout. A smooth flowing storyline that I found captivating, and I am eagerly awaiting what's next in this series!

This is the second book in the Foxbrooke series. You can definitely enjoy it as a standalone but the books are all connected. I missed Henry's book but will be going back to read his story soon. Jack and Eveline’s story gets you right in the feels. There may have been a few tears shed in the reading of their story and most definitely a lot of snorts and giggles. Jack met Eveline in a bar when he sat next to her mistaking her as one of his clients. They hit it off but he left in a hurry when he realized his mistake. Fast forward a year, they meet again when Jack is in Foxbrooke for his fathers funeral. Jack tells himself that the one woman he can't stop thinking about is off limits, he's an escort and she's the towns vicar but Eveline is determined to change his mind. I loved their story and can't wait to get my hands on book three. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The tagline to this very original and delightful book really sets the stage for one of the funniest and spiciest reads I have read in a rom com. 😇“Will he show her heaven, or take her straight to hell?”🔥 How can a book that has this as its tagline not deliver on a promise to leave you equal parts laughing and fanning yourself? And, if you have read anything before by this author, you know that Alexander’s imagination and talent will be sure to give you a healthy dose of both in a compelling style that will keep you reading way to long into the night.

The Unholy Affair, beyond having a title that just makes me smile, has rich and incredibly fun dialogue as a female vicar and a male escort begin to have a relationship, but what will happen when his profession is uncovered? How will she react? How will the parish? But there is much more to this novel than meets the eye and inside it I found not only a laugh out loud romance with all the feels that I expect, but also some wonderfully human moments about the power of love, forgiveness, and acceptance. Although I didn’t want to race through this book, the power of the writing, the realness of the story, and desire to know how it would all end made me zip through this despite myself. But you can be sure that I will be returning to this book to read and enjoy the sheer craftsmanship of it along with the other Foxbrooke Books. So far this series has been three five star reads in a row… and that’s some average!

I received a digital ARC of this book. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it won’t be the last. This is the 2nd book in the series, I have not read the first one yet, but it said it could be read as a stand alone, so I read it without reading the first book. Eveline is at a bar waiting for her bff to show up when she says a little prayer for God to bring her a man. The next thing she knows, the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen is next to her and talking to her. They are totally hitting it off, when he ends up leaving to go to another woman who just walked into the bar. She’s crushed. Jasper is a professional escort and can’t stop thinking about that night in the bar with Eveline. Fast forward a year, Jasper, who is really Jack, has to go home to deal with some family things. When he is at his parent’s house, he opens the door to find Eveline….but she’s the vicar! Jack is still attracted to Eveline and vice versa. But Jack is worried that his Jasper life makes it impossible to start things with Eveline. This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of trust, humiliation, forgiveness, and honesty with some spicy scenes thrown in as well. I read this book in one day. I’m looking forward to going back and reading book one, and will definitely get book three when it comes out as well. The author lists trigger warnings at the beginning of the book.

Another fun read

This was a great story about 2 people who were seemingly completely unsuitable. What Evie Alexander has done with this story is to create a background which leads to the believability of romance between the vicar and the putain. Adding in the complication of and evil man trying to manipulate both main characters, and it is no mystery that I couldn’t put it down. (Yes, it’s a cliche but true.)

Great romance: male escort finds redemption with a female vicar. I loved this story of emotionally damaged Jack right from the first moment he initially meets Eveline in a London bar, mistaking her for his client for the evening. Fast forward a year to his father’s death and his reluctant return to his home village to organise the funeral. All the characters in this tale are delightfully drawn and, whilst this is actually the second book in a series, it is a totally stand-alone story and a very enjoyable one at that. The road to Jack & Eveline’s HEA is definitely rocky – but the reader finds themselves rooting for these two seemingly mismatched individuals all the way through. I really liked that all the supporting cast are truly three-dimensional, especially the ‘villain’ of the piece. A great read from an author I haven’t discovered before...I will definitely be checking out the previous book and can’t wait for the next one!

HOLY SMOKES!!!!!

I can't wait to see what lies ahead for Estelle and James… hopefully he delivers on the BDE!!!!
