I’m lost in an alien jungle… and the handsome, 7ft, winged predator stalking me from the shadows has never seen a woman before…

I never imagined that manifesting my dream man into my life would include being abducted, sold at auction, abandoned on an alien planet and almost getting eaten by jungle monsters - but here we are!

When a huge, winged, possessive alien swoops in to save me from the horrors of this planet, I can tell he’s just as curious about me as I am about him. And, while Ezryk manages to learn some of my language, the way he looks at me says more than any words in the galaxy possibly could.

Still, life in the deep of the alien jungle is full of nothing but dangers, and the most perilous one might just be the way I give my heart over to a man I can’t fully communicate with.

Alien Protector’s Shadows is book 3 in the Fated Mates of the Winged Barbarians series. Books 1 and 2 will need to be read first to understand the setting and world-building of this story. The heroes in this series are all virgin alpha-cinnamon rolls who are enthusiastically learning about spicy-times and are wholly dedicated to their women.

This is easily my fave of the series so far! Dove was a total new age girlie with a whole manifesting good things from the universe thing going on. I was feeling a little iffy about her at points in the book, but that was mostly my religious trauma talking. She had a growth arc where she learned to take what she needed from the universe. Ezryk was a cinnamon roll wrapped in protective somewhat grumpy armor. He had valid reasons for being a cynic, and Dove mellowed him out a bit while he grounded her. They were super sweet together and I’m liking the progression of the overall plot! Looking forward to the next book!

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: abduction (off page), trafficking (off page), animal attack, violence, gore, poison by animal bite, abusive narcissistic parent, murder, attempted murder (off page), threat of SA (very mild), groping (MMC doesn’t know what breasts are and gets curious, stops when told to), isolation, coma, threat of MC dying

This series has continued to make me laugh! It’s such a nice lighthearted read and has many moments that had me giggling.

This one is probably my favourite of the series.

I got this book as an ARC from the author. This book was my favorite out of the series so far. You can see Melissa getting better and better with each book and its such a delight to see.

I was hooked from the first page and the flow of the book was perfect, there wasn't a dull moment. The world building from the perspective of outside the villages was helpful and intriguing.

The dynamic between Ezryk and Dove was so wholesome. I would say this is my favorite couple so far! I loved the chemistry between the two. One of the best points of the book was their communication and how they worked hard to understand each other. Also the spice was 🔥🔥

I am excited to see where the series goes next and learn more about the Temples. Overall, I highly recommend this book!

I received an ARC of this book from Melissa Emerald. I love her Fated Mates of the Winged Barbarians series, and I have eagerly been awaiting the release of this one after devouring the first two. I think book 2 is my favorite out of the bunch so far, but I enjoyed Dove and Ezryk’s story tremendously. This series has been my favorite “alien romance” series by far out of anything else I’ve ever read.

I only knocked off a star for this book particularly because I felt like the relationship between the two didn’t have a slow build up like the previous books. I enjoy a nice slow burn, where the FMC gives a lot of push back to the MMC. The best part of these books is that it involves lots of teaching (since these males have not seen females before), but this one was lacking those teaching moments, and it almost seemed rushed/insta-lovey compared to the others.

I’m so thankful I was able to get my hands on an ARC to read this early, and I can’t wait to see where the series continues!

I loved it! Melissa Emerald has not disappointed me yet. This alien universe gets more and more intriguing and romantic with each installation, and I am here for it. Dove and Ezryk's story was so beautiful but also insightful regarding this alien world. I couldn't put it down.
Also, even when he did not know her language, Ezryk is a concent king.

I really enjoyed this book. Some parts of it I found kind of stressful, but for the most part, it was pretty cozy and gave all the amazing vibes. I’d like from ice planet barbarians. Not to compare the two, but I feel like they’re in that niche subgenre of super naïve aliens he would do absolutely anything for their human mates. This was actually much spicier than the previous two books and was more of a medium burn…

Really enjoyed this book and it was so good to see the world building being expanded on. Our MMC didn’t seem to have much of a personality, but I ate it up all the same. Love how these books are written and it just hits a spot that other books can’t fill. If you want a fun and easy read with sexy women worshipping alien men then it’s a must read. The only real negative is that I read it too fast and have to wait until the next one!!

MELISSAAAA YOU'VE DONE IT! (Arc Reader here)

The wait did not disappoint. If you have enjoyed the first two books I think you will enjoy this one even more! In a book series, as is common in these aliens ones, there are always some couples you look forward to more and some you just vibe with better. For me this was definitely my fave couple until now.

If this is the first book you stumble upon you !definitely! Should read the first two as there is serious worldbuilding explained in those and needed context!

I must say I really enjoyed Dove and Ezryk because there was so much time for them alone! So much time for them to just bond to have no one judging the attraction nor anyone budding into the romance. I think that made it really easy for me to fall in love with the characters as well as the growing love between them! Cause there weren't many distractions or information I had to pick up. It was mostly just pure fluff with the needed spice! And I really appreciated that.

Also just Dove as a character I enjoyed. I think to write different heroines of course you have some stronger, some more innocent, mean etc. Dove for me was in some way so relatable, so easy to relate to in the sense that she did not deny attraction she embraced it and had no real.... shame about it? I enjoyed to read such a happy go lucky character who had no problem standing up for her wants and needs. Also a queen in manifestation.

To everyone who loves the outsider guy that acts like he needs no one... you definitely found your guy here! Rough exterior very vulnerable inside.

Author Review: Melissa was the first author I read from when first getting into this whole Alien Romance sphere. Of course I came from tiktok. So that alone makes me hold very fond memories for her writing as I just enjoy the world building so much! Where I can find myself bored by other long winded series, where I just do not like either the FL or ML, Melissa has made me enthralled with all 3 books! Which is why I will always be a loyal Emeraldinador. Something I also appreciate is the very good balance between Romance, Drama and Smut. While other series lean more into dubcon (which there is no problem believe me. I am there with yall) her books just fill me with these intense warmness knowing that this is just so sweet! The romances are always so pure at the deepest point!

Spoiler Section!

Zarriko and Jaryk I will wait for yalls damn book! Believe me! Do you guys ever just see these side characters and start gnawing at your desk knowing you are doomed to wait!

But seriously did anyone else shake in their boots when Ez told Dove to close her eyes! I had this bad feeling in my gut knowing exactly this guy is about to SCRAP. Didn't help either that I was listening to Exhausted by Chloe Morindo.

Another hit!

We briefly meet our MMC Ezryk and FMC Dove in the second book when they swoop in and save they day and swoop back out again just as fast.

It was great getting to see their relationship and their ‘Tarzan & Jane’ meeting. My heart went out to Ezryk who through youth and following his father’s orders had been rejected and outcast to stumble upon Dove and not think he was worthy enough of love.

The only reason this book didn’t have 5⭐️ is a personal preference for me, when we’ve met characters before, even briefly, I find that books based on them while there has been a subplot with them can something feel like I’m waiting to catch up.

We knew nothing about them from previous books, how they met, survived the jungle etc, so I loved getting to see that, but also knowing that they’d get to the others and timeline wise, I felt like I was waiting for the inevitable, without this book though we wouldn’t have learnt about other factors.

It’s not a deal breaker and doesn’t take away from how good the story is, it’s just my impatience can affect how I feel when reading the book, but ‘Ezryk and Dove, very very good’ 🤣

4⭐️1.5🌶️

Technically a 4.5 on CAWPILE but a 5 in my heart, dammit. This series is pure serotonin for me, I eat it up. I’m giggling, squealing, screaming, crying and throwing up lol. I will say the only drawback for me in this particular installment was I missed the other characters, but I developed such an attachment to Ezzy and Dove that I didn’t even notice that as I read. While the plot is definitely intriguing me, I feel like the characters are what really got me invested. I really enjoyed getting a wider view of Trixikka outside of the tribes which was very interesting. I agree with the sentiment that the writing is improving in each installment although the second book is still my personal fave, I would fight to the death for Ezryck. I just have developed such a fondness for this series, I even wrote it down on my calendar when the release date for this one was announced and I’ll be just as insufferable in my excitement for the next installment 😂 (for real as compulsively readable as these are- I’ll probably still be here if there’s like twenty of them)

After having read the book after this one, I can still say that this is by far the best of the series. They have a cute relationship and I like the language barrier at first and how she chooses him and refuses to let him go. I like the trust that they build together. Most entertaining plot as well.

I have realized that I pictures the Trixikka basically as the Na’avi from avatar but with wings because the skin stars and darkened skin stars just sound prettier and more natural looking on blue skin, and how the features were described as eyes fathers apart etc.

Speaking of skin, why are the tribal people who wear barely any clothes and live on a jungle planet with two suns white? Seems weird. You can choose any color for aliens on another planet and you just make them tan white guys? They would be burnt to a crisp on a double sun planet or they’d have to wear clothes or something to protect their skin. Not to mention that it’s just boring to make your fake aliens any human skin tone in the first place. Hence, I choose to imagine them as blue.

Hakuna Matata, I guess
the snort I snorted was too loud in the night :D

I don't know.
I was super exited about Book 1 and it was beautiful, sweet and spicy.
Book 2 was a dissapointment, because of no chemistry and non-stop argue.
And this book?

It started nice and interesting.

But then there is no any slow burning, intrigue: just in the very first night they fucking.
like... no touches, excitement or something with a virgin MMC, just boom!

and it was too long, as for me,
I understand, author wanted to show us jungle life, but most of the time they just walking and fucking. Not even very graphic.

and when we finally have some kind of enemy in was super fast!
like WAIT! THAT'S IT?!!
we finally have some kind of battle and THAT'S IT?!

and than ALORYK?!!!!
ALORYK, MY BOY! HOLD ON!!!!

note to the author: please put this book to another two in one series on Goodreads, I was watching it like that and didn't even know that third book already here.

Dove is a human, kidnapped by aliens, and crash lands on a planet inhabited by men who have no women.... familiar with a different twist. They are not technologically advanced in anyway. They lost their women due to neglect? or maybe cruelty? not 100% sure as we have only had a peak of the why there are no women. The women were supposedly put inside a temple that the men worship at and make "offerings" but never see or touch the women. I found it an interesting twist on the normal.

This hero is an outcast and has been alone for years when he stumbles upon Dove and decides to keep her. I decided to give the story 3 stars purely because of the first half of the book. It was so slowwww. Nothing really happened but we got too much detail about the jungle, or eating or I honestly do not really know because I started skimming. Nothing was happening. The good news is the second half was much better and I was glad I completed it.

Gracias Melissa.

I have fallen in love with this series and the third book did not disappoint.

A group of human women stranded on a tropical alien planet, winged alien males who have never seen females before, and all the spicy things that ensue between them!

In this book you have Dove our FMC who is lost in the jungle. She is a free sprit who wanted nothing more than to fall in love. She believes that the universe will guide her and provide the perfect match for her. Little did she know that perfect match was a tall winged alien male. Ezryk the MMC is enchanted by the female he found in the jungle, he’s been alone for a long time after being banished from his tribe.

Their love story had me hooked, I couldn’t stop reading until the very end!

BEST SO FAR!!! Exryk and Dove are PERFECT

Look - I didn’t think I’d like this since I wanted to know about Chastity and Tryk and the girls in the tribe…..

But wooooow this one is WORTH IT. This really blew me away. I loved the second book - but this book takes the cake!! This is probably the best book out of the series so far

The spice 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ is spicingggggg phew 😮‍💨 🥵

Their relationship and how it develops from essentially strange alien strangers to a couple is fantastic.

There’s some surprising serious angst in this and oh my gosh it broke my heart. But Melissa fixed it! Haha

I love how the book ends and the surprise at the end. Did not expect that for Zarriko!!!

Excited to find out more about Aloryk.

This is an ARC review
Dove is the most positive sunshine fmc I've ever seen and I absolutely loved that about her. Ezrik needed someone like her to believe he was worthy even as a shadow-wing Trixikka.
I liked that the book is mostly just the 2 of them as opposed to the tribe setting of the previous 2 books.
Normally I'm not a huge fan of language barrier when it lasts too long but this was so well done and worked well with the story. I enjoyed reading Ezrik and Dove learning about eachother's language and seeing them fall in love slowly.
The spice was also great so that's a plus.
This one was my favorite of the series so far.

Title: Alien Protector Shadows
Author: Melissa Emerald
Genre: Sci-fi
Spice: 🥵 yes
Series: Winged Barbarians

Thoughts - every freaking time they learn to talk English I’m drowning in a pool of mushy goodness. I love it so freaking much. This series has me in a chokehold and I can confidently say you will not be disappointed if you have a thing for big sparkling aliens. This book differs from the other two as it’s set away from the village which made the planet world building grow so much more. Ezryk MMC had me melting at absolutely everything he does and Dove FMC is so positive and confident I was swooning over her especially when they were at the bathing pools 🫠 definitely recommend read for any sci-fi lovers.

Plot - walking through the jungle, things are not as bad as they seem when surviving in an alien planet. The universe keeps showing her the right way to survive so when the 7ft alien that has been watching over her appears, she takes it in her stride. As she creates a life with her protector the one thing she did plan on happens leaving her almost back at square one.

* Confident FMC
* Size difference
* Grumpy Sunshine
* That spice 🥵

Big, big like.

This is the story of Dove and Ezryk, our Jane and (alien) Tarzan. Is Dove absolutely ridiculous? Yes. Does she trust the Universe to a ridiculous extent? Also yes. But she’s a girl after my own woo woo yoga-loving heart and I found her optimism and openness to be a breath of fresh air. Ezryk is a Shadow-Wing exiled for his prior crimes against his tribe. The Universe certainly works in mysterious ways….

I truly can’t get over how much I love this entire series— I’m 100% invested in the love lives of these sparkly bird men with tails. Please, Melissa, keep them coming!

To Light Up The Stars

The romance between a Shadow Wing warrior and an abducted human female sets the stage for the 3rd book in this cute, sexy series. The road to their HEA is full of jungle dangers and an inability to communicate beyond hand gestures and very basic English. But what truly impressed me was the sacrifice the MMC was willing to make to keep his little human safe. He was an outcast, banished to live alone for youthful mistakes and there was no way he could protect her without a tribe. But the MFC truly loved him and was willing to face the horrors of the jungle by his side. Redemption and hope were such precious gifts and she gave him both. I loved it.

3.5 stars.

Though there wasn't a huge external drama in this book, I really enjoyed the romance, which was the primary focus. The survivalist aspect was interesting as well.

The MMC was such a sweet, shy person....but also sexy when they finally gave in to each other. The FMC was determined and didn't let herself get too sullen about being on a new planet. That was a nice departure as most sci-fi romance includes a traumatic horror story for the FMC that she struggles to cope with. A lighter sci-fi romance is nice sometimes.

There was a bit of unexpected angst towards the end that was satisfying, if you like a little heart tug.

The spicy scenes were very, very, very hot. 🥵

Alien Protector's Shadows has a language barrier, a gruff yet caring love interest, and insanely attractive aliens--everything I could ask for in an alien romance. I enjoyed it from start to finish and I loved exploring the world more and seeing the set up for all of the different future couples. Dove and Ezryk were such a sweet love to read about and I loved following their journey throughout this book.

If I'd had the time I would have read it all in one sitting and if that doesn't show how much I enjoyed it then I don't know what does.

Now I just have to wait for the next one...

ARC READER:

I actually really enjoy this story line, I really liked this book because we see such a drive between the individuals to get to know one another and to sacrifice for one another, all while filling out fantasies of living life to the fullest.

One thing I will always love about love interests in loyalty and protectiveness. Definitely amps it up for me. :)

If you’re wanting a good smut with a happy ending (and you like the idea of hot aliens) this might be the book series for you.

I’m excited for book four!
