I really like animals and I wish I could live in a zoo like her and I always wished I could talk to animals.

Zoe lives with her veterinarian mum at the Rescue Zoo owned by her Great Uncle Horace. He is an animal expert and travels around the world to bring home animals that need help. Zoe also has a secret as the can understand what animals say.

In this book Horace brings to the zoo a baby seal that was rescued from hunters. At the same time the zoo is going through a difficult finance situation and might have to close down. Zoe, together with the animals, put some ideas in place to try to help save the Rescue Zoo!

This was a fun book and a nice way for kids to learn about animals. However, I found that it could have avoided giving human traits to animals (the baby seal sleeping in a bed or being afraid of the dark…).
(And how appropriate is it that this library copy seems to have been chewed on by an animal? 😅)

We were kindly loaned some of the books from this series by one of Violet’s best friends. Violet read the first one herself and then forgot how much she enjoyed it, so I started reading this one to her. And she was enthralled and completely invested in the plot line about the zoo being in financial trouble. We both thoroughly enjoyed the storytelling, the creativity, and the way animal facts were thoughtfully worked into the story.

This is my favorite Zoe's Rescue Zoo book, so far. There's another addition to the zoo family and they all put their heads together to rescue the zoo that rescues the animals! This book was filled with suspense and a happy ending.

My 5 year old LOVES this series and would like a Meep of his own. These are more written for beginner readers to read themselves...so they aren't so literary satisfying to an adult. But they are fun to share with my son.

I think it is a good book because it shows that you should care for and love animals no matter what they look like.

For a book about a silky seal pup, I was expecting more about the cutie pie. But hey, I'll take any book with a seal on a cover.

Zoe and Meep are both working hard to help the newest arrival of the Rescue zoo settle in. But Star, the seal pup is very shy and needs to fed with a bottle. But when Zoe and Meep learn that the rescue zoo is going to have to shut down, how are they supposed to help the silky seal pup feel welcome? This definitely was a great book for animal loves of all types.
