A dog walker raising her teen sister crashes into an attractive mysterious man and instead of being a grump about it, he invites her to a luxurious party. Sparks fly (literally) and things get hot real quick. Dragons among humans, oh my! THIS WAS HOT HOT HOT and so cute. Thea's writing is addiction and you will fly through the pages giggling like a maniac. The characters are so fun and loveable too! Midas and Jess are the cutest couple and their love story is one of my favorites. Also that epilogue!!! I cannot wait for Cyrus's story omg. Loved every second of this. 5 stars easily!!

I’m going to start this by saying I fucking LOVE Thea Masen’s writing. Her spicy scenes are so good and Midas 🥵🥵 he has a mouth on him! I loved him from the moment he showed up! If you like billionaire dragon shifters with a heart of gold and excellent dirty talk this is for you! I loved this world and found the rituals and customs of the dragon horde so interesting, I can’t wait to find out more! And the epilogue!!! I NEED the next book immediately!

I’m sleep deprived and a little delirious but want to write this review now while I’m thinking about it, so you’re getting stream of consciousness thoughts:
-This was really enjoyable!
-Lots of spice and featured a dominating MMC
-I want to know more about the dragon society!
-It took me a while to get invested in this story, but by the end I definitely was
-The ending was so good
-Took some time for me to warm up to Midas
-I’m not a huge fan of dark romance or dom/sub dynamics so that didn’t necessarily hit for me
-This was really enjoyable!

Wow, was this book hot! I was blushing throughout :D In no time at all, I found myself plunged into a world of mystery and seduction alongside the relatable FMC. The story was so well-written that I felt I was there myself, wondering whether it's a good idea or not to trust a devastatingly handsome stranger who has a way with words (and panties :P ), but knowing that resisting his charm is mission impossible. The dragon elements of the story were great as well. In short, let yourself be seduced by the Dragon King, you won't be sorry ;)

Dragon Shifter/Human fated mate/Dual PoV/Insta love
SYNOPSIS: This is set in a world where shifters live alongside unknowing humans. A Dragon King living in NY bumps into his downtrodden fated mate, a human, whilst she is out dog walking. He invites her to a party (then follows a “pretty woman” moment) and he and the FC immediately fall in love. The FC discovers the MC is a Dragon King and finding his mate means that he will not lose his throne (he had one day left to find his fated mate otherwise he would have had to abdicate). The Book covers the FC becoming part of the MCs world, his queen and mate whilst overcoming some challenges to his role as king.
Heat Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆🍆🍆🍆 The Book is essentially a string of sex scenes joined by a weak story so there are a lot of sex scenes (all mainly vanilla) with a decent amount of heat.
I thought I would give this book a go as I enjoyed the Pack Hart Omegaverse Duet which was partly written by this author. Unfortunately this was not on the same level. There is limited story and no character development or depth 🥱. It’s insta love at its worst where the attraction is then used to essentially develop the whole relationship between the two main characters. It's not a romance. I felt there was no real link between the MC and the FC (neither of which were particularly likeable) and the whole story (what there was) was ridiculously basic. Who bumps into a man and then agrees to go to a party with him and then allows him to pay for expensive clothes and underwear (eye roll) before having hot sex with him??
There's limited drama and angst.
So, this was a miss for me even to while away couple of hours. If you are looking for sex and porn and are not concerned about a story then this is the book for you but if you are looking for a bit more depth and substance to your sex then I would give this a miss. It’s a shame as there are few decent dragon shifter books around.

After enjoying Stiff, I was looking forward to reading Dragon King of New York and seeing another take on urban fantasy from the author. Certainly, I love the concept of this novel, and it may be a good read for many people. However, whilst I often find plenty of positives in stories I don’t vibe with, I admit I almost DNF’d this because I found the execution disappointing on so many levels.
Firstly, tropes are an excellent way to start a foundation for a novel and market it, but they’re not what makes a story good. Secondly, the characters undergo little to no development and have minimal personality outside of the two or three adjectives assigned to them. I also grew very tired of reading the phrase “I’m not normally the kind of girl who…” or similar on every other page. Thirdly, as a lover of ultra spicy erotica, I do enjoy plenty of smut, but quality is always better than quantity. Some of the smut was a big nope, too: the MMC tells the FMC that he wants her to think about his 🍆 filling her up everywhere (mouth, 🐈⬛, etc) when they have dinner with the FMC’s 17-year-old (aka a minor) sister, who is already uncomfortable with the “relationship”. Just… no. Finally, lots of smut doesn’t preclude a story from having a good plot. Yet the plot—what little there was—was rushed to the extreme. I am happy to suspend a heck of a lot of disbelief for multiple orgasms and a HEA, but I cannot suspend all of my disbelief to go along with such a heavily rushed “romance” even for “fated mates” scenario that was throwing more red flags than a matador.
I’ve seen this author write well, so it was disappointing to see awkward, poorly edited writing, which relied heavily on tropes alone to carry the book. I know they’re capable of better quality writing, and I’m hopeful that is what I’ll encounter in the next story I read from them.

Think Pretty Woman meets Fifty Shades of Grey if the author of that book knew what she was doing when she wrote said book and it was actually good (don't come for me fans, you like what you like) but meeting like Anita and Rodger from 101 Dalmatians. Now I can honestly say I have never once read a billionaire romance before, but this year really has turned into reading things I probably wouldn't have picked. Now this did have dragons and is by an author who has quickly become one of my favorites, so it has that going for it, but I see the appeal. Now if all of them could have sexy dragon shifters, I could read a bunch.
Midas is very alpha, which works for Jes because she is tired of having to make every decision. Which girl... I feel you. It gets exhausting having to think for everyone, it's nice to let go of the control and let someone else take it. This is the perfect example of a real dom/sub relationship. Yes it happens fast, but there is a safe word, and he knows when to be that and when to just let things go as they go. Perfect. Like textbook. Ten out of five stars. You deserve a dozen cookies. Thank you.
I want this to be a series. I need this to be a series actually. I want to see more. I want Cyrus to have a redemption arc. I want to see Jeslyn becoming the QUEEN she is. Finley gets a happily ever after and wings of her own. I want more of this dragon horde and I will grovel in all of Thea's DMs if I have to. Love it.

I completely devoured this book within 24 hours. Just like I would let Midas devour me if I had the chance.
I am a dragon-lover at heart and this book delivered the hot, smoky, possessive dragon-shifter that I CRAVE. And the way he wants to take of everything for Jeslyn, all without looking down on her, recognizing that she’s busting ass to make ends meet for her and her teenage sister? YES PLEASE. Jeslyn deserves to be taken care of and for once she can let someone else make the decisions. Because don’t we all want that sometimes?? (ME, I do.) Then when these two finally connect, be prepared to grab onto something. That commanding tone from Midas hits EVERY. TIME.

Ah this book!
I knew i was going to love this book because one, it was written by Thea Masen and two dragon shifter!
With a bump everything started rolling in motion very quickly!
Definitely lust at first sight and fast paced which was absolutely amazing!
Midas is the king of nicknames too, My Queen, My Jewel, My Ra'a, that man knew from the moment he saw her that he was going to have her, he found his Queen.
Jeslyn was living her normal life with her dog walking job and taking care of her sister when Midas decides she is his and he will stop at nothing to have her. The timeline is fast paced because it needed to be, and Jeslyn has a big decision to make.
This was an amazing book and i look forward to more!

I really enjoyed this book! This was a spicy and pretty cute read! I was hooked very early and it was a quick read! I’m so excited to see where the author takes the story based on that ending! If you like billionaire romances but want a little fantasy and maybe fated mates definitely give this book a read!

2.5 stars. Sometimes I just need a book that I don't have to think with and this was exactly that. Plus I'm a sucker for fated mates. Not perfect, fast burn, low angst, quick read, no third act breakup, with a completely devoted MMC and a FMC that doesn't make dumb decisions.

i absolutely LOVED this book and it's making me rethink my whole rating scale for 5 stars. i want to make everyone and their friends read this book. it felt cozy and was spicy and i am SUCH a suckers for books where the part of the FMC giving up control is cathartic because so often in my own life i feel so overwhelmed with trying to control everything, that it's just nice to not have to think and someone else is in control. it has the perfect amount of plot to make the spicy scenes work and be amazing. Thea is an amazing author and i hope everyone reads their work!! i just love possessive and loving partners

Ok let me start by saying ... WOW!!
This book had everything I love in a shifter/paranormal romance. Think Cinderella meeting a very charming, older and with a much dirty imagination dragon shifter Prince Charming or in this case the king of the dragons Midas.
When Jeslyn stumbles into Midas her world literally made an unexpected shift. After her parent's death Jeslyn had to raise her younger sister and never had time to do anything for her self but after Midas shows up in her path she very quickly realises that she will do anything to feel free, sexy, desire and pamper even if is for one day but to her surprise Midas won't let her go because one day isn't in his plans.
Midas is the king of the dragons and with that comes responsibilities but when he finds his fated mated is a human he is completely gone for her because she is everything he desires and he went stop until she is completely his.
This story is fast paced but I really love the plot. Midas and Jeslyn were perfect for each other and while there are decisions that need to be made, I love how they work together.
This is the first book I've read by Thea Masen and it won't be my last I'm already looking for the next book in the series.

I loved this book! I love a good dragon shifter romance and then to make him MAFIA? LAWD I was loving it so much. I love the possessiveness of Midas, and how life turned around for him finding Jeslyn.
Jeslyn had a rough hand at life and she’s just trying to get a FREAKIN’ BREAK and I loved seeing her finally get hers. She is such a great character.
I always love Thea Masen spice - it’s always so hot combined with sweetness. However I was unprepared for the level of fantasy in this book in only 271 pages. I really loved all the dragon shifter lore packed into an urban setting without feelings overwhelmed. It made it so interesting.
This book was so good and then when we got to the last scene with the test I was just LOSING IT I loved it so much! It was sexy and powerful and interesting and unique and made my pump my fist in the air like Dwight in the office when he sees the fire trucks!
And god I cannot WAIT for Cyrus’ book!! What an incredible ending! I had a FEELING and when I actually read it I was kicking my feet and silently screaming.

I read this as a palate cleanser when I didn't want anything too heavy, and it was definitely an enjoyable read.
I will say, though, that it does rush through things quite quickly in the first half. The FMC seemed to have zero issue with this or anything that's happening around her. It made her seem really two dimensional and non-plussed when actually this was a woman who had been stressed to the max and probably had deep feelings. I just wish we'd have seen a little bit more of their inner emotions or emotions between them that justified their actions.
It definitely feels like they love each other because of lust and being fated rather than loving each other for who they are.
That being said, I still kept picking it back up and binge read it, so it was still rather addictive.

I absolutely enjoyed this read it was amazing from the beginning. I fell in love with our MMC Midas because from the very beginning he was sweet and attentive with our FMC Jeslyn. HE left no room for doubt on what his intentions were and knew that Jeslyn was his person. It was sweet to see instantly the big gestures he had in store for her. She didn’t know exactly what to expect but did her best to keep an open mind as she allowed him to sweep her off her feet. One of my favorite things about Midas was his never ending list of nicknames for Jeslyn. 😍
I specifically enjoyed the world building that this story had in regard to Dragons and this specific horde. I loved the mystery, the troubles, and the suspense of it all. I’m definitely invested in this world and cannot wait for the book(s) to come!!

I loved both these books. The world is fun and new but recognizable. It starts quick and throws us directly into the dragon shifter culture.
The first book reminded me a bit of a cross between Cinderella and pretty woman. The MMC is grumpy and stern to everyone but our FMC who immediately becomes the center of his world. He really is green flags all the way, even helps with her odd jobs instead of demanding she quit.
The second book is far different. Lots of pining and tension before anything happens. I wouldn’t call it a slow burn but probably as close as you’re going to get with a Thea book 😂. The FMC is SPUNKY. She’s all fire to the MMCs chagrin. Good thing he’s full of green flags too!
The spice is FANTASTIC. Both books explore different taboos but to be clear dragons are alphas and female dragons are no different.

Yall, I finished this book in ONE SITTING and I started reading it at work. nothing and I mean nothing could pull me away from this story. Midas is for sure going on my book boyfriend shelf and Jes is a total bad b*tch and I love her -it's so refreshing when FMCs stand up for themselves. Not to mention the hero was a true Alpha, he had aura and it wasn't one of those stories where they kept saying he's Alpha, his character PROVED IT.

My crown, my treasure, my little gem, my queen! This story was fantastic! FMC Jeslyn had so much responsibility at such a young age and I loved that she let her hair down and followed her instincts. Midas is the MMC dragon shifter and king of New York... I should really say king of dirty talk. Midas and Jeslyn were so hot together. You guys they do it in a pool of gold 😮💨. On top of being possessive and persistent, he was also so patient with Jeslyn. He knew that she needed his dominant control and let her explore the space of having her wants and needs taken care of. I'm sure we will see more of these two. I can say for sure I am Thea fan and will absolutely be reading more of her work! I'm very excited to read Midas's brother Cyrus and Jeslyns sister Fin'leys story.

I absolutely loved this book—it’s an insta love that hits all the senses, super spicy, and who wouldn’t want the luck of stumbling upon a mysterious dragon by chance? Let me tell you, I already need the second part. I have to know what happens with Cyrus, like right now. This story is addictive and leaves you flipping through the pages wanting more.

Too short to give a quality story.
The main characters had no time to develop, personality wise or relationship wise. They just jumped straight into things, and because it was so quick, their reactions made no sense and were unrealistic.
Literally within 20 seconds of meeting her he asks her to accompany him to a party that night and tells her he’ll pay for everything. Oh, and to “come” with him right now. This special snowflake does just that because you know what, she hasn’t lived till now so she’s gonna make the most of this situation. Bleh. I rolled my eyes so hard when he would say the weirdest stuff and her brain just skipped it like it was totally fine.

Wow, such an amazing book! A gorgeous billionaire slash shapeshifting dragon who finds his fated mate in a overworked and poor dog sitter: every girls’ dream come true! And Midas is just the character that I love, very domineering in the bedroom, but always respectful of Jess’s wishes and opinions. Masen is a great writer, who can pen really hot scenes, but with all the emotion of two people who are falling in love with each other. And I loved the dragon thing, the secret world, everything. I can’t wait for Cyrus’s book!

This was a fast paced and quick read that I didn’t want to put down! Lots of Cinderella vibes. I love an MMC is soft only for her. Midas wants Jess to choose him and this new life but her doesn’t force her. He is willing to battle and sacrifices for her. And the way he spoils her! Jess’ sister is hilarious because she has that typical teenage attitude and doesn’t understand why her sister is changing her life for a man she has only met and she calls her out about it! Jess wants to be responsible but also wants to follow her heart, her struggle made sense with her personality and history. The spice was super spicin’! Midas’ special peen was 😏😏. The only thing I didn’t get from this book Midas’ POV! I cannot wait for book 2!
