I’m an omega.
I’ve been forced into submission.
Required to be silent, scentless… nothing.
Mateless.
My mates never knew what I gave up to protect them.
I was just their friend.
An acquaintance.
Something sad for them to worry about.

Until now.

I can handle what’s to come.
But I’ll never forgive myself if my mates suffer the same fate.
With each needle, threat, and experiment,
I’m getting weaker.

I’m a test subject.

A friend of my instincts and omega.
A survivor of the Academy.
A scarred mate they finally see.

I’ve fought many battles,
Stood after each beating,
But this time,
I’m not the only casualty.

What controls me?

That bitch we call fate.
And she better get her shit together.

Authors Note:
This is book 2 of the Invisible Omega Duet. You’ll find MPOV, MM content, and dark themes in this Omegaverse. This broken omega struggles to survive the constant experimentation of the academy clinic, leaving us with slow-burn, grovel vibes. MMFMM. ABOAA.

Trigger Warning:
Each book is recommended for those 18+ due to sexual content, physical abuse, forced imprisonment, drugging, and omega experimentation. A further detailed list will be included in the forward.

feels unfinished

I was excited to finish this duet after the cliffhanger in book one, but this didn’t live up to expectations. There are some really obvious mistakes. One character’s name even changes at one point (*spoiler: called Briar in some chapters and Blair in later chapters). There is an MM relationship within the pack (the beta and one of the alphas) and that usually doesn’t bother me, but when we get the POV of that alpha, his worry and care is very obviously more for the beta than his omega. For me, stories like this with ABO structures with a female omega and MM relationships only work if the omega is still the main focus or at least equal. The beta within the MM relationship focuses on the omega but his chosen mate/alpha just doesn’t do the same.

Overall it was rushed and I didn’t like the pacing. I think there is a lot of potential, as the story and even side plots were interesting but it just kind of fell short.

Disappointed

I'm really disappointed that there was zero groveling in this book. These boys treated the FMC TERRIBLY. FOR. YEARS. and that just gets completely brushed over. Not even mentioned, really. I had been looking forward to this book for months.

I really enjoy most of what this author writes. I just figured since the FMC was treated so horribly by her own pack for so long, once they realized who she was to them, they'd feel some guilt or remorse for how horribly they treated her, and would work to rectify that. Feels like the story was rushed. I could have done with less trauma in the first half and more healing instead.

The first 40% of this book is just on page descriptions of physical and sexual torture. I almost quit reading, because it seemed kind of pointless and we had to relief or movement in the plot.

Then it finally flipped to a chapter with another character and POV, and I felt like the plot was going to move forward. But seriously… almost halfway through the book before it actually gets moving.

There continues to be a giant problem with the believability of the academy. We learn that there are dozens of missing omegas. We assume that at least a few found their mates and those people are also missing. It’s implied that faculty who have problems working there go missing. But somehow it was only the missing persons from current graduating class that caused anyone to investigate.

The post-torture life was fine, but bland. Nothing to really draw you in.

I am completely disappointed with this book and series as a whole. I honestly didn't feel like there was much of a story if you take out all of the torture and misery. Truly. There'd be maybe 100 pages from a total of both books where there is some sort of actual story and progress than just torture.
Very obvious mistakes were made. At one point, Ronan is inner monologuing and says he has to live with 5 other people....🤔 unless Beckett plans to live there I'm not sure how his math computes. There is a mistake of Briar/Blair. Left me scratching my head at that one. Spelling mistakes and missing words from some sentences. Grammatically, this was a bit of a mess. It felt very rushed.
The Beckett storyline? Yeah, idk. If we'd had a lot more past buildup about all of the characters, especially her, I'd say that it would have had a nice rounding out of a wrap up. But we meet all of them their last year there and no real prior knowledge of any of them beforehand. So, unfortunately Beckett, you didn't provide much 🤷🏻‍♀️

The first one was better

This book was great up until the last 20% or so. At that point all aspects of relationship building essentially stopped. It was about Freya finding her way to her omega, which was amazing of course, but she is part of a pack dynamic and we see very little of what that actually means for them all. Just small glimpses that left me wanting more. 😫

**Review Shared for Duet**

Plot - The plot was good and was a unique idea when it came to the omegaverse. It was a nice change of pace since omegaverse books can get pretty repetitive. That being said - the pace of it kind of ruined parts of it. Most of book two has the main characters being tortured and in captivity. I just feel like there wasn't enough valuable time between the fmc and mmcs... They seemed to barely know each other at the end of book two. It left me wanting more.

Mmc's - Unfortunately the plot didn't allow for there to be nearly enough groveling. There wasn't time or opportunity between all their enemies hurting them.. Which is too bad because honestly Lucas was pretty horrible. I guess the groveling was when he did the bare minimum and actually started treating her like a person? Ronan was a nice change of pace. Elliot wasn't as bad as I was expecting when I read this was a bully romance - he was more indifferent to her than anything. But we didn't really see much of that. Casey was enjoyable to an extent. But honestly all the guys that had spent the last three years at the school kind of sucked. Them not noticing anything wrong with how omegas were treated was kind of unbelievable. I mean... they only spent the last three years there. Before that they were in the real world? So... what?

Fmc - A traumatized and brainwashed omega that found strength from all the things she had been through. Despite everything she was determined to protect her mates, even when they treated her like trash. I actually enjoyed seeing her growth and determination throughout the story. But I do wish the men had been more deserving of her. All that being said - I do wish we had the opportunity to see her heal more from everything she went through. She was still having inner thoughts of her brainwashing at the end of book two - those are the types of things that seeing the mmc's help her heal from would have left the books more satisfying.

Smut - More mm than anything - but considering the story it made sense and honestly I preferred it that way. Reading about forced sex even if it's between two partners would not be enjoyable so I am glad we skipped most of it.

Side note: The Beckett storyline seemed so out of left field.. and didn't really add much to this book in my opinion. Also how come he didn't react to Freya's scent on the males? It wasn't until their eyes met that they recognized each other but when it comes to omegaverse it's usually all about scents.

i basically feel the same way about this one as i did about the first one. it's mostly angst and trauma porn to really feel terrible for our fmc. which is a fine trope to use, but it really needs to be balanced out along the way, and this book really doesn't do that. it's also meant to be sort of like a groveling novel, but there's not really very much of that in there either. our fmc freya has a little bit of a meltdown hoping that the guys actually like her for herself, not just because she's their scent match. which would be fair, except for the fact that they don't really get to know her before they make that decision, and she doesn't really know them either.

these books are also extremely dramatic for what feels like very little payoff. someone is always crying or screaming or raging, which instead of highlighting how deep everyone's feelings are, it really just makes all these characters seem unbelievably young for their ages. now granted, it could be argued that their time at this horrible academy has stunted them, but it's just not really supported by the narrative very well.

i really like the general plot and structure of these books, but the overdramatization, grammatical/spelling errors, and rushed pacing just really kind of throw me off and make it hard to enjoy.

the ending showdown/battle type scene starts when you're like 80% done with the book, so there's not really a payoff of everyone getting to settle together happily after all the trauma they've been through. it's mentioned, but at the same time, after watching these characters go through so much for a book and a half, it really feels like we should get more time with them as they heal.

Let me preface this with this review is for readers not the author. I’m not trying to come across mean or harsh but I’m going to be honest.

——

I had such high hopes for this book. I was so so excited. The first book was so solid. I loved it. This book felt rushed and under developed. We got POVs from men not in the harem, and one random chapter from the headmaster and some major plots that seemed random and never fully fleshed out. We get like 60% through the book and we’re saved which is cool cause now we can work on trauma right? No. We’re gonna dance around and rush through that. I was so looking forward to this book and I am just overall so disappointed. I wish the author took more time to flesh this out and not make it so rushed.

I loved the first part but this feels rushed and unfinished. Spelling errors and what happened to the school?? Also, where was the grovel? Especially from Lucas? They got away with it all and Freya still felt like she was at fault. We never got a why omegas we’re treated that way? Why was Ken the way he was??

Angsty goodness

The hurt comfort of this was perfection, this was all the angsty goodness you could want, the horrors of what the pack endures followed by them coming to terms with it aĺl and learning to survive and thrive as a pack in the real world.

Naw, I didn't enjoy this series at all.
It was.very highly romanticized on facebook...
Making it seem like it was going to be sexy, dark, hot...
But, the author made the smutty scenes almost a punishment.
The story wasn't enjoyable...
There was.major disconnect within the group.
Hell, even the bullying was messed up.
And what happened to Casper?
There was no closure there.
The author built that up too. We were expecting this big showdown but it never happened.
The best thing about this series is.... It's over.

💭My Initial Thoughts

I couldn't wait for the final book in the duet after the cliffhanger ending of the first book, and my goodness this did definitely not disappoint. It was so much darker and spicer than book one and it shows the full extent of just how hard a pack will fight for one another. There is drama, emotions, hope, heartache and trauma. It really is a rollercoaster of emotions, shock and fear. Freya had my heart in a vice grip thoughout reading. And how stunning is Freya on the cover?
She is a beauty that is one thing i know for sure, aren't fictional characters just the best.

💭Plot

As this is the second book of the duet, the drama and devastation continues on, right from the cliffhanger from the first, leaving a pack trying to work out what's next. I'm so sad that this was only a duet because it was absolutely amazing and could have easily had another book added on, making the perfect trilogy. Never the less the plot for the second and final book is one i can't decscribe much without giving spoilers but will Freya's nightmare ever end and when did the Alphas, Ronan, Lucas and Elliot and Beta Casey nightmare begin?
This also had extra side characters POVs which added even more depth to the plot.

💭 Characters

oh, if i can go to a fictional world, right now i want to go with Freya and her pack, despite the nightmare, the character's are amazing, book boyfriend worthy and girls that just got it!
er except Ken.. yeah he can go burn in the deepest pits of hell.
Freya is a beauty of an omega but has been taught to separate herself from her other half, her omega, in the hope of killing out the spark in which she so dearly holds. I absolutely love Freya and Casey's banter and how each of them are unique in their interactions with each other. Freya just has that fire in her heart with the need to protect her pack before herself.
Now if i was asked to pick my favourite MMC i think i may well stumble and full because they are just all *Chef Kisses*
Alpha Ronan, the daddy vibes as he tries to negotiate everything and the fact his nickname for her is 'star'
Swoooooon. Lucas is the ultimate bully to lover and he calls her 'angel'. He's also the fit football one. Then there is Elliott and he is super protective of boyfriend Casey, who is total golden reciever vibes, and Freya.
But also a special mention to butters because that had me laughing so loud while reading it on my plane journey home! (if you know, you know)

💭 Recommend

i recommend this to everyone that loves romance thats in the omegaverse and reverse harlems because my goodness this was HOT.

💭 Favourite Quotes

' How do i lead a pack that shattered the moment we realised we were meant to be a family? We are meant to be together, all five of us in our own way.'

' You guys can't lose yourselves. We can't lose who we are before we even have a chance to create the pack we are destined to have.'

' They won't know what hit them until we defy all hypotheses and results'

'Don't you want to be my good omega?'

💭Favourite Chapter/s

Chapter 35 and 56.

💭Summed up in one sentence

There is always something keeping their fires inside, burning and alive.

💭 Overall Wrap up

How to even sum up such a rollercoaster of a read and emotions without any spoilers. The second book definitely is more darker as well as spicer, the end chapters are absolute fire!
They dont shift in this version of the omega verse instead living together in the one body separated by their mind and souls. Howerver you can really see the pain Freya encounters as shes been taught to try force herself apart from her omega. There is plenty of secrets and discoveries to uncover and the darkness of the academy. So many secrets that i never expected but absolutely loved.
i know this is the last of this duet, but i also know Y.V.Larson has plans for more omegaverse novels which i am so excited for and looking forward to reading.

this was another major anticipated read for me. I swear nearly every day I was on Amazon trying to check if the date got moved up or if the paperback got uploaded early.

this book definitely changes the depth of the story. personally, I don’t think this book was as dark as the first. I think it lightened things up and its goal was to throw us the light at the end of the tunnel and let us focus on the pack developments and other relationships. did this particularly bother me? a little bit, the abrupt change in tone was unexpected but was it bad? no, not at all. it was a seamless transition and I think it’ll be good for a larger audience of readers. honestly, just being real, I think it was done so that everything could be wrapped up in this book because it’s a duet. BUT it wasn’t rushed which was good.

it starts right where we left off and the plot is kicked into high gear. I absolutely LOVED the new POVs we got. it really made the story so much better. i’ve never read a story that introduces new characters and it doesn’t obliterate the plot.

our main characters have some good growth and relationship development. I want to say more but I’m not gonna spoil it. it was good and healthy and I liked seeing that.

the one thing I didn’t like was that we meet this other “group” of folks and I feel like they should’ve been the ones getting a story next instead of whoever the next character is. felt like we had a lot set up for them but they get fade to blacked. this is part of why I knocked it to a 4, the story and plot for our original main characters was good. But these new people seem like they deserved a story because of all the new plot points that were added.

another thing that was 🤨 to me was Freya’s trauma, seemed like a lot of off page things were going on there and I think we could’ve had a few chapters of us watching her growth.

overall, I liked the duet and I do recommend it. not sure if I’ll buy the physical copies yet…honestly I might purely for the cover art. 🤭

Emotionally perfect read

The conclusion of this duet is perfection. I absolutely love how it came together for a perfect ending that is so fitting for this book. There were some twists and turns and some surprises that I was so here for. Be sure you read the triggers because this book does go dark witj things that happen to the FMC.

Freya is an Omega and has been dealing with being tested and being kept from her Omega instincts. Freya may seem weak on the outside but on the inside she is so strong and willing to do whatever it takes to protect her guys.

Ronan, Lucas, Elliott, and Casey are all trying to figure out where Freya is while in a harrowing situation themselves. You will find that some of them shrink into their own heads and feel guilty for some of the things they have to do. Lucas has grown so much in this book and I love his character so much (may be my favorite but I'm a why choose book girl so not choosing really 😊). Casey, as a Beta, is super sweet and caring for the ones he loves. Elliott is struggling and finding it hard not to feel guilty. Ronan is the lead Alpha and will do whatever it takes to find Freya and keep them all together.

I don't want to give anything away but definitely read this book and if you haven't read book one Met Your Match, be sure to pick it up now. This is an emotional, heartbreaking, but wirh a HEA book and loved everything about it.

Hope Is Rewarded For A Brighter Future

Y’ALL, this was SOOO good 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I think all of us had certain expectations when it came to what we expected in this book. Well, I can happily say, ALL my expectations were exceeded in EVERY way 🙌🏻 I got my redemption, romance, hope, answers, and most of all…JUSTICE (thought I was gonna say love didn’t you 😉😝). I KNEW I was gonna get the love, cause that’s the only way Y.V. does it, even if she never delivers it in the ways I’m expecting ❤️ Cause see, I didn’t get the grovel I was expecting, and yet putting myself in the characters’ shoes, I realized the way Y.V. handled it was actually truer to their situations (I did get major growth from Lucas…yeah you get major credit sweetie 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻). If you love a dark omegaverse storyline that’s full of emotional layers, has an extremely strong FMC who gives her all in protecting her mates, and most of all has a hard fought for love between characters that grow throughout the story….then you NEED to grab this duet. Y.V. does an amazing job of playing on all of your emotions until you almost physically feel exhausted at the end, especially with all the twists & turns leading to unexpected surprises along the way….basically, the best kind of story 😉❤️
✨Side Note: Make sure to check the TWs because what happens in this story can get pretty dark 🥺😡👿)✨

This is the second book of the Invisible Omega duet, which is part of the Collapse of the Premium Designation series. There are spicy scenes, as well as numerous very dark elements to this story so please read the trigger warnings.

Tropes and themes include:
✨Power & control
✨Omegaverse
✨Why choose (MMFMM)
✨Healing
✨Slowburn
✨Heats/knots
✨Hurt/comfort
✨Scent matches

Rating: 3.5/5 Stars 2/5 Flames
Nickname: Star, Baby, Sweetheart

The Lovely: I again loved the plot of this book, as dark and horrible as it was (what was being done to the students). I also liked how a good chunk of the book was devoted to seeing what happened to the pack post-Academy

The Mundane: To me the writing style still felt a bit young or immature given the ages of the characters (early 20s and up) and the dark themes. This also felt slow paced, which was odd given the plot tension.

Recommendation: Overall, I loved the plot of the duet and grew to like the characters within the pack. The FMC’s mates are all quite different and each bring their own qualities to the relationship. I’d love to find out more about what happens to the other omegas so I am planning to start the next duet, which I understand focuses on another omega post academy.

It was Great! But....

Okay, so I loved both books, truly! However, there is something that made my eyes roll and question if I want to suffer through the next installment in the series if this problem persists. So I love all the characters and their stories, however, something I noticed in both books is how the characters always draw attention to the fact that one of the alphas is black. Examples like "his dark skin", "his dark skin and even darker hair", and my personal cringe favorite, "his big black cock". Like it's like they want to reader to KNOW that he's black. Other than that, his character is known for being "broody". I love that authors are trying to diversify male love interests beyond the "tall, dark, ethnically ambiguous " man, truly. But other than the first description of the character, there is no need to continue to point out their differences. I think it would bother me slightly less if the other characters were also constantly described by the color of their skin, but that wasn't the case.
Apologies if this seems like I'm rambling. I'm not usually one for leaving reviews but I felt this was a really important thing to voice. There's inclusiveness then there's fetishizing.

And I thought I couldn't hate the Academy more than I did in Met Your Match. I was so very wrong. The plot thickens in the second book of the Duet. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I lost all hope of ever seeing a HEA in this book. It's tragic and unfair and heartbreaking. Twists and turns afoot and all the angst and drama and sitting on the edge of your seat you could ask for! We get some answers about why the Academy is doing what they are doing and you have to wonder if you would've fell for the same thing despite all the red flags.

I found myself yelling and screaming at the characters in this book, too. A rollercoaster of emotions experienced throughout that was entertaining and had me hurrying to turn the page. Moments where I literally couldn't read fast enough.

You must read Met Your Match first as this is the second in a duet. Similar to the first, we have multiple POV with MMFMM/ABOAA romance. There's a little more spice towards the end of this one, but doesn't really rival the spice in other Omegaverse romances I've read. Very dark themes that will make you sweat but definitely worth the read!

This duet became an addiction for me. I immediately fell in love with all the characters in book one and was waiting with bated breath for book two. This book picks up right where book 1 leaves off and it does not stop. I couldn’t put it down. I love how each character is uniquely themselves, none of them blend together and they all have such depth. The way this story is told really makes you as the reader feel like you’re there right next to the characters. I cried with them, I laughed with them, I got angry for them. This story is darker and these characters are put to the test time and time again but the journey is worth every minute to the end. I’m going to miss them and their story but I’m excited to see what comes next. This book has it all, suspense, romance, spice, secret society, injustice, justice served, and so much more. I highly recommend this to all omegaverse why choose romance lovers, it’s a rollercoaster ride you want to get on.

I didn't care for the mad scientist/enslavement part of the story, which unfortunately took up the first half of the book. I also didn't care for all the POVs from the side characters.

I was quite dissapointed that there was barely any development between Freya and the men. Once they got saved, they basically started living together as a pack. I felt like Freya had decent moments with Ronan, but even their relationship was pretty weak.

Everytime we got to Elliot's POV, it was basically Casey Casey Casey. I didn't like that Freya's first natural heat was over shadowed by Elliot wanting to bond Casey into the pack. I would've been okay with it had he developed a deeper relationship with Freya but as mentioned earlier, the men hardly spent any moments with her.

I'm also dissapointed that Lucas never made a proper apology or groveled for the way he treated Freya. Everyone basically acted like it never happened.

Oh it’s a slow burn and you won’t want it any other way! I started book 1 (if you haven’t read Met Your Match you have to read that first) hoping for a new BBF or 4 but ended book 2 being more invested in my 2 new favorite Book Besties! The shared struggle, perseverance and friendship was everything and I can’t wait for more in this world! What these characters suffered and had to over come-please read the trigger warnings before you dive in. It’s heart wrenching and inspiring. You will want to cry. You will hate Ken. But you will smile and cherish every word on the page. There’s even Butters the cat! Hopefully there will be another book focusing on Kate with more glimpses into Freya’s life. While there is an other duet coming out in this world I am just not ready to leave these ladies behind. I hope you like them as much as I do!

DNF at 29%. I thought I would give it a shot after the first book was a disappointment to see if anything is explained. It did start with some explanation of things but then turned into sex scenes that felt pretty non-con, even though the trigger warnings said dub-con, considering she is in heat and can't really consent to anything. Doesn't matter if they are her mates. They are fu****g her and force bonding her when her mind is a mess. And to top it off, a reviewer said there is no grovel for the way they treated her for more than 3 years at that hellhole??? I can't continue. This is turning into a rage read.

It felt like there were things left unsaid, never resolved. Like her feelings of guilt for "not ptrotecting them." Very important and yet never discussed between them. E&C's relationship obviously suffered while in the basement. Yet we never saw them work it out. They simply went back to normal. The B&B/F was also kinda glossed over, had one convo (not a successful one I think) and that was it. We see them later on all fine and dandy. I think there should have been more on that, specially given how strong their A & O reacted to eachother.

I don't know... I liked the book but it feels like there was something missing. Like maybe too much flesh was cut out at editing or something.

Phenomenal

This was the perfect conclusion to this duet! Freya not being sure of her choices Ronan and the rest of the pack taking the initiative to make sure she had what she needed! I would love to see more about Beckett, Kate, Remy, and Nick but i feel as though both packs for their happy ending! Eli finding himself again was peak for me! Love to see it. Freya making her first choice with the granola bars was such a good moment! This book was great! The character development carried on through was awesome! I really enjoyed this duet and i can’t wait till i can read the next duet!

3.5 ⭐️. Still very little spice for a why choose omegaverse book. The rating went down slightly from the first book mainly for the ending. It seemed like the author wasn’t sure how to wrap up the story? All this trauma and afterwards is just random scenes where she’s making choices? Are they going to discuss anything about being a pack, especially before a heat? And… no real group scene once they’re out? Odd that we get more on the trauma bonding scene than them finally being together in a happy setting.

Also… the explanation for why her omega is “separate” from her is odd… they made it seem like it was due to the teachings & repression in the first book but.. guess not? So random.

Met Your Mate is part two of The Invisble Omega Duet. It is an RH Omegaverse and book one must be read first. Y.V is new to the omegaverse genre but wow did they nail it. It definitely has a bit of a darker edge to it but it's so good. Freya, the kmega has been through so much and the things she has done yo protect her mates is mindblowing. But when her mates do find out what has been going on, Ronan, Elliot, Lucas and Casey do all they can to protect their girl. I loved the conclusion to this duet and was so glad that Freya finally gets her HEA.

Enjoyable

I have enjoyed this duet, and other than some slight grammer issues, it was well written. The development of the relationship with Freya and her mates throughout has been great it didn't feel rushed and jumping from nothing to everything. My only real issue is that this last book didn't allow for more of the recovery process. I would have loved to have been there for that part. Particularly her meeting the parents it was actually something I was eagerly awaiting the development off, so I feel a bit let down that it happened off-page. Otherwise, great little duet.
