Discover New Hampshire and its rich heritage, unique natural history, and groundbreaking citizens. G is for Granite: A New Hampshire Alphabet is a detailed picture book that introduces children to the beauty and wonder of New Hampshire, from its numerous covered bridges to the delightful call of the ovenbird and even the coveted New Hampshire primary elections. G is for Granite: A New Hampshire Alphabet is written in simple rhyme for preschool through second graders, and features side bar expository text for older students and adults. Illustrations are by Karen Holman.
G is for Granite is a charming alphabet book with simple poems about New Hampshire for each letter. Examples are "F is for Robert Frost" and "D is for Deer." The illustrations are beautiful watercolors, and the poems are appropriate for preschool through 2nd grade. But it's more than just that. On the side of each page is information about people, places, animals, or things in NH that is interesting for older students and adults. I, myself, enjoyed and learned a lot from reading those side panels especially since I'm currently a NH resident. This book would be good for teaching students interesting facts about NH if they were studying this state and doing a project on it.
i think we have been in New Hampshire 2 times ... and the minute i knew i had to keep on coming back ... i wish it was closer to Virginia ...it left such a big impression on me ... so so so gorgeous!! lovely views. great folks. i wanna go again.
A charming ABC book, loaded with information about New Hampshire. Lovely illustrations. Since this was published, the Old Man of the Mountain, representing the letter "O," has fallen down. The Old Man lives on in the minds of many, like myself, who have visited the Old Man.
Great book for kids to learn about the states! It tells some facts, history, and famous people about New Hampshire, along with watercolor illustrations. Definitely recommended.
