Verena DeLuca is a pen name for the life partner duo Sabetha Danes & NAK Baldron. When we’re not homeschooling our artistic daughter, we spend our afternoons arguing the finer details of books. Failing that, we can be found walking the many nature trails around our home.

Marble Falls is an actual tourist destination an hour west of Austin, Texas, that we’re proud to call home. While Aconite Cafe isn’t an actual coffee shop, it is the name of our publishing company. We love coffee nearly as much as Hailey, though we’ve been known to break the cardinal rule and drink tea.

Azure is based on our cat James, who’s just as snarky.

I love anthologies and this collection introduced me to a whole new group of authors. I like being able to find new authors this way. Since the stories are basically Halloween-themed, I read this book a bit out of season, but I still really enjoyed it. If you like seasonal cozy mysteries, you’ll probably savor these stories. I received this book free, but these opinions are my own.

A delightful way to read 10 different authors and find a new author to read. 10 short stories covering paranormal and almost normal mysteries. An engaging fun read, nothing too long or involved. Each story is followed by a short autobiography of the writer so you can learn more about them and discover what else they have written.

This is a nice collection of short Halloween themed cozy mysteries. Because these are short, they make for a nice break. I also was introduced to some new to me authors that I will be looking for more books from.

What a really fun collection of paranormal mysteries! They're short so the pages seem to turn really fast which made me want to read more. It was also an amazing way to introduce myself to new authors without committing to a full length book. I loved all of the stories in this collection and look forward to trying books by some of these authors soon.

An anthology of quick Halloween stories. Some better than others but overall quite entertaining. The only one I didn’t like much was the last one - Granny’s Halloween Tricks. The book also needed a bit of proof reading and there were some wrong words here and there.

Interest collection of Halloween short stories. Unfortunately for me none of the stories truly intrigued me. But I did finish the book

I loved all the books in this collection. They were just spooky enough without causing nightmares.

Since I'm a big fan of both short stories and anthologies, it's no surprise that I loved this collection! The stories are Halloween-themed, so if you care about reading seasonally, pick this up in October. Otherwise, like I did, enjoy it any time of the year!

I liked having the chance to read a bit of work by several different authors, most of which were new to me. I made a note of a couple of my favorites, so that I can seek out more of their work.

An enjoyable read, plus exposure to some potential new favorite authors; it's a win-win!
