I read this book fairly quickly, indicating that I found it enjoyable. Jack and his newly-formed pack have purchased a crumbling mansion in the town of Nightstar, hoping to find some peace after their grueling time in the military. Jack is considered to be their alpha, though he prefers a more 'we're aill equal' approach to decision making. They all know that repairs on the mansion will be extensive and time consuming, but they have no problem with hard work. The bad news comes when they are informed that there is already a pack living in Nightstar, and nobody seems to have anything good to say about the alpha and his enforcers. Jack's hope of a peaceful existence is further smashed when he discovers that the she-wolf he had unexplained feelings for in his youth, is living in town and has a young son.
Bonnie can't believe her rotten luck when none other than Jack Blackwell delivers her son, Freddie, to her doorstop after rescuing him from a group of bullies, also known as his cousins. Jack had been her biggest tormentor in her youth, right up to where he left her after taking her virginity on his last night in their hometown. Eight years in the military with no visits home and not a word to her had hurt, but was expected. Now, she was barely hanging on by working numerous jobs and trying to raise her son in an environment just as hostile as the one in her childhood. Their current alpha was a disaster and ruled by fear and the intimidation of his enforcers. Jack's arrival in the area just made a bad situation worse as she was told to infiltrate his pack and gather information. But it was her secret that was going to sink them all.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
This is the start of another great series by Mia Wolf. It has brilliantly flawed characters, with family drama, action, redemption, misunderstandings, humor, a slow build steamy romance and some tough men with large hearts. I look forward to reading the stories of Zander, Eddie, Kane, Will and possibly Hanson; the others in the Nightstar Black Ops Pack.
Bonnie had been bullied tormented all her life, by her family and others in the Blackwell Pack (particularly the alpha's son Jack) until her dad challenged the alpha once too many times and they found a new home with the Nightstars, where her life didn't get any easier. But she has her son who she will protect and try to hope he won't suffer as she did.
Jack had always teased Bonnie but didn't like it when others also tried to bully her, she was his. Before leaving his father's pack to join the army he took her and left her with more than just memories, though he also could never get her out of his mind in the years that followed. He's now retiring with a group of friends; making his own small pack and hoping for peace in the old Nightstar mansion they've bought. But when he hears a young pup being tormented he steps in to help and takes him home; not expecting Bonnie to open the door.
Jack and his men had been black ops in the army and had taken down bad alpha's before, but he learns that there might be another ruling the town he was hoping to find peace in. With Bonnie and her son there as well he knows he can't leave and that he's changed, feeling even more protective towards her and her son; but can he prove that to her after all he put her through?
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book! The first in what promises to be another exciting series by Mia, the story of Jack and Bonnie is a definite must read! The two grow up together in the pack where his father is the alpha, but Bonnie has always been treated poorly, by the pack and her parents. The night before Jack leaves for the army will leave Bonnie with more than she anticipates. It will be years before they meet again and while her experience with the new pack is no different from the old pack, Jack coming back into her life will be totally different. He and his own pack of army buddies have retired and settled in Nightstar and the current alpha isn’t happy. There will be some issues and Bonnie will find herself in the middle of it all. She and Jack are getting to know each other again and the feelings developing are something Bonnie never thought she would feel. Danger comes knocking and when her son is threatened, Jack and his buddies will stand up and fight for her and it will be a battle they will win. This allows Jack and Bonnie to finally be together and be the family they were destined to be. I love the way their story unfolded and I can’t wait to read what comes next!
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Below is the synopsis of Bully Alpha Wolf by Ruby Knoxx that was released on 8/2023. It's pretty much the same story with minor changes. I dnf'd @ 30%.
He bullied me horribly and gave me a forbidden, secret baby girl. Now he’s back, in our small town, and my pack forces me to negotiate with him.I’m an outcast, used to insults, and I have no choice but to follow orders.I want to forget how he rejected and tormented me. But I’m not allowed. My pack needs his protection. He’s the alpha of the black ops after all.I have to put my pack above my feelings. So why can’t I?I should be ashamed of myself, of the way he still makes me tingle.I should stay away from his mansion, but all it does is make me want my baby’s daddy more. They say that whatever you deny yourself becomes your new prison. I can only confirm.I’m a prisoner of the way he hurt me with his ice cold tongue.I’m a prisoner of the way he heals me with his cruel raw touch.Do I want him to stop using me for his own purposes?Or do I want the alpha to expose my everything? The Silver Wolves Black Ops have only three rules to live find a mate, protect her no matter the cost, and create babies. They don’t compromise, they don’t get distracted, and they never, ever give up, even when you beg them to.
Jack and Bonnie’s story gripped me and did not let go until I finished the last page. I’d like to avoid spoilers so I’ll just say what’s not to love about a wolf pack, especially when the Alpha is your secret baby daddy!!!
Jack left home 8 years ago and hasn't been back since. His time in the military has been easy but Bonnie’s time at home raising her son on her own hasn't been any easier. What will happen when Jack gets back home and fate has him meet his son, as he is being bullied by his cousins? How will Jack react to seeing Bonnie after so many years? Bonnie has to make a very hard choice to save herself, will she save herself and her son or will she doom everyone?
The only way to know is to read this story. You won’t be disappointed!
How one person sees their past and how another does can be totally opposite as its all the contributing factors that affect everything. How we see ourselves affects how others see us and vice versa. These things are hard to change in adult life, but if changes are to happen, then we must see the whole story and make our decisions with this in account. The characters were interesting, but I wish they were a little more dynamic, and as for the storyline, I think if it had been expanded on with a little more depth, this would have been a great read. Don't get me wrong, it was a good small read that I think anyone could get into as it is not too heavy into the shifter niche.
At 1st I wasn't 2 happy cause she seemed like she was 2 stupid cause she needed a backbone 2 stand up 4 herself cause she always let everyone hurt her and run over her especially her piece of shit parents. But finally later on she finally was able 2 do sumthing and stand up 4 herself in x of need. After yrs of being away jack has came 2 a new place with his buddies. But can he deal with a surprise from the his past?when things go bad fast things hopefully can get things under control. But can he? Read and find out. It was pretty good.
I've had this book on my TBR for months and finally got around to reading it. This book needs a developmental edit, some really good beta readers, and a revision. It has good bones, but it's juvenile. The language and writing are immature, and the dialogue is childish. I'm certain that with a decent edit and an honest round of revisions, it would be much better. I really tried to ignore these issues and just read it, but I simply couldn't.
Bully Mate is book one in the series Nightstar Black Ops Wolves by author Mia Wolf. The story starts off with a cocky MMC and a sweetish MFC. Behind all that gruffness he’s hiding his true self and feelings. She believes he’s only an @$$. Life happens and years later that get a second chance only if she can forgive him. Lots of spice in this one. Also in this one a parent deserves exactly what they get. Enjoy!!
I'm not a big fan of bully romances. But this one was very good. The mmc recognized how bad he was and actually apologized and works hard to prove to the fmc he has changed. No third act breakup, secret baby, and just enough steam to make you fan yourself. Highly recommended.
There was a point 20% in where the scene quickly jumped and there was no indication that a scene change had taken place. One minute the FMC was talking about something and then the next she was home sleeping. It was a bit shocking and I felt like I had somehow skipped over something. Otherwise, it was a good story and I’ll read the next.
There was a bit of bullying in the beginning, but that was it. It turned into an all out romance with the female lead being easy to forgive. It was a decent book, but I was hoping for more bullying.
Took way longer then it should have to finish this on it was OK but kind of a slow read for me, I am determined to get to the third one though because that's the one I wanted to read to start with so we will see how it goes
Interesting and definitely a good read. I thought that the title should have been different though. I thought that the book would be about a bully, but found that being described as a bully wasn't a good description of Jack at all.
This book was good. I loved the story but I have read another book with a similar plot. I loved that jack changed and owned up to his bad treatment of Bonnie. Bonnie was so !such stronger then she thought she was. I look forward to book two!
It was a good read. Characters and flowing plot. Bullies and insane connections. Horrible alphas being taken care of. I liked that he had his band off guys and they clicked with bon.
