Lisa Wheeler lives in a small town in the south east of sunny Queensland, Australia. Here, she is a single Mumma to three teenage boys and fur Mumma to 2 pugs, a Labrador, a cat and 2 birds.
Lisa is also a registered psychologist and her “day job” is running her very successful private practice. As much as she loves her day job, writing is something that she has always enjoyed, and she has been creative writing since she was a teenager.
When she isn’t working in her private practice, dealing with the chaos of single Mumma life, giving love and attention to her lively bunch of furry and feathered friends, or writing her next adventure, she can be found indulging in copious amounts of coffee, tending to her terribly neglected but incredibly loved potted plants, spending quality time with her wonderful partner, Mark, or trying to garner the energy to live a more active lifestyle.
This was a roller coaster of twists and turns! The characters Jack and Vanessa capture the audience and you can’t help but barrack for them. I’m usually pretty good at predicting how a book will end but this one had me guessing right through. An exceptionally well written book by a first time author.
Vanessa leads a safe life, but one day she finds herself as a witness to a murder. After that nothing about her life is safe when she has to enter witness protection with a police officer named Jack. Jack is her reluctant protector at first, and things quickly spin out of control since Vanessa's life is constantly in danger. However, things are not as they seem, and Vanessa and Jack learn some secrets about Vanessa's past.
You Can Run was a high stakes, fast-paced adventure with romance and spice. There is constant suspense and tension because Vanessa is rarely safe, and there is a lot of romantic tension as well. Some of the law enforcement elements are a bit unrealistic, but I enjoyed the story and got sucked into Vanessa's adventure so I'm willing to overlook a few things. There are a lot of twists and turns in the storyline. Some are more obvious than others, but the road getting there was fun. I really enjoyed the book, and it's a 5 star read for me!
You Can Run was a story about Vanessa, being witness to a major crime and needing protection against the people who committed the crime. I loved this read - I found that it had a little bit of everything. Mystery, suspense, romance, spice, action! There were twists and turns, some that I didn't see coming from a mile (and I love those kind of mystery/thrillers where you are genuinely surprised by the twist rather than having guessed it before it happens!) I really got lost in the story of Vanessa and Jack and enjoyed every last page. Highly recommend!
Debut book from this author, and personally I loved it, and think they’ve done a great job. Action packed from the start with loads of unexpected happenings, and a good twist at the end. I consider Vanessa as a bit blinkered however, some people will put up with anything to have a connection, even if it’s toxic, and it is fiction. If you like grumpy protectors, and determined heroines then this is a read I think you should give a try.
I received a review reader’s copy of the book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is this author's debut book and I would never have known that when reading it. It was well written and had a very good plot. I loved Jack and Vanessa and their suspenseful tale. I’m pretty good about figuring out who the bad guys were and I did figure out one but not all. So I was completely surprised and I loved it. If you love suspense, action, steam and Hea then this book is for you. I highly recommend this book and absolutely can not wait for future book from this author.
A debut book from this author and this had a blurb which draw me in and interested me. I found the book well written with a great suspense element running through. Great twists which kept me on my toes. A good connection between Vanessa and Jack, I do love a grumpy protector! I did find it dragged very slightly in parts, but I did still really enjoy this and I certainly would look forward to reading more books from this author.
This book is actioned packed with great twists which kept me on my toes. Loved the connection between Vanessa and Jack, he is one grumpy protector. Vanessa witnesses a crime committed by a notorious criminal mastermind. To protector her is Jack who has his own ghosts. The two of them become close as they evade their pursuers. As the chemistry grows so does the danger, betrayal, the past comes knocking.
This book had all the things I like in a romantic thriller. Suspense, action, mystery and it had the perfect amount of spice! The big plot twist near the end I did not see coming at all!! Such a great book!
So so good!! I kept thinking that it was Jack that was dirty! The storyline really does have you question everyone. Jack and Vanessa are so cute. Highly recommend!! Highly recommend!!
